Kin Sen

A month ago, my family and I had dinner here. My mom mentioned a famous Thai actor had visited here so she wanted to check it out too. The food was really authentic and savory. The drinks and sliced mangoes with sticky rice dessert were just as sweet. Overall, you can't go wrong here. The last two photos are of the Thai staff who took care of us. We had a great time. :)

Me and my friend walked pass by this restaurant few times. Finally decided to give it a try. The food was delicious. Staff was friendly. For appetizer we ordered Taro, as veg spring rolls we out. The Taro didn't has any taste but it was crunchy and the sauce was delicious. We go papaya salad without shrimp, it was good. Got Kee Mao, that basil noodles were amazing. Finally had some dessert, at first it tasted weird as it was made of tea. But then I started liking it. Would definitely visit again

The food was absolutely AMAZING! The curry broth in the chicken kao soy was so silky and rich. Moo toon pork was tender and broth perfect. There was a misunderstanding with the server about the dessert I wanted. We ended up with the donuts and ice cream and I thought presentation was a little lack luster in comparison to their other desserts. The Thai ice cream definitely delivered and tasted just as the drink. All in all everything tasted perfect, some of the best Thai food I've ever had. (Server seemed new and a little busy, even though it wasn't but I'm giving her a pass cause she was trying.)

Found this place looking for something tasty within a mile or so of the Queens Science Center on a Sunday night. We started as we usually do at Thai restaurants, with Thai iced tea and Thai coffee. Then our 5yr old tried the pink milk. While we found it too sweet, she was in heaven. It was like a more flavorful, more complex strawberry milk, and it came with whipped creme and rainbow sprinkles - perfect for kids. To eat, we got two of the broth dishes, one with chicken and one with beef, both with egg noodles, and they were simply amazing! The broth was flavorful but not too spicy, the meat in both was so tender it was melt in your mouth delicious. The portions were very generous and we shared the two with our very picky 5year old. They readily provided us with extra bowls to portion out noodles and cuts of chicken and broth for her. We were so happy she loved the food as much as we did! We also got an appetizer of sweet/savory skewers of pork that our daughter readily ate up as well! And as if the dinner being so, so delicious was not enough, the dessert was delicious as well! We ordered the rainbow layered crepe cake and it was delicate, light, just sweet enough, and a great end to the meal. We wanted the Thai tea layered crepe cake too, to take home once we knew how tasty the rainbow one was, but it was still setting and needed 5hours to be ready. Suffice it to say we will be back again and again, so we will be able to taste more of the menu!

I had a great pad see ew here. Right about of flavor and spice. I would come and get that again. Moo ping ask very very good. However, my gf wasn’t a total fan of the noodle she got. Was a bit too sour to her taste. She don’t like that dish and pick the wrong one, doesn’t mean the dish is not good. Is a very solid Thai place and would come back again for it. We were searching for something we haven’t tried in Elmhurst and found this joint. It’s a small mom and pop kinda place with just a few tables and food are pretty good. Our friendly server gave us some suggestions and we tried the very appetizing Moo Ping (pork skewer), the Lake Jim Beef (stew beef, Brisket, beef ball) was flavorful and Pad Kapraw(chili basil sauce) with seafood. We are glad we found this new Thai joint and will be back to try other dishes.

Came here on a rainy Wednesday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the food. It's hard to find authentic Thai cuisine in NYC and Kin den is one of those gems. We ordered their moo ping, wing zaab, Nam tuk moo (pork) and Nam tuk beef. Their moo ping is reminiscent of what I would get at night markets in Thailand though the glaze isn't 100% the same but still very good especially with the dipping sauce that gives it a bit of spice and tang. Wing zaab was our favorite appetizer-perfectly fried wings coated in this spicy yet tangy (lemongrass???) crumble that you dip into their sweet sauce. Both their Nam tuk moo and beef were reminiscent of what we'd get in Thailand with the obvious price difference. Pricing is pretty fair as the portions were fairly large and all the flavors were on point! Though there was only one person taking orders and serving, we felt attended to despite the small restaurant being packed. It's definitely a cozy small spot - they get packed on weeknights so come for lunch if you can! KinSen recently had their grand opening earlier this month and is so new that they don’t even have signages up yet other than a small neon sign by the window. You can easily walk by and not notice they are open. They took over the former Dek Sen location so it’s the same tight space, perhaps even tighter as they have gotten rid of the permanent outdoor dining structure in front. The interior has undergone some updates; I saw new flooring, updated light fixtures and new tables and chairs. We ordered Moo Ping (pork skewers), Goong Pair (shrimp fritters), Beef Pad See Ew, and Chiken Pad Thai. For dessert we got the Lava Cake and the Roti Hot Plate. My favorite dish were the shrimp fritters. These were the tiniest shrimps I’ve ever eaten but it really worked in this dish. The shrimp was breaded and deep fried with a side of vinegar dipping sauce. I could see this as a good dish paired with beer. And I thought the pork skewers were quite tasty. I found the flavor and texture of the pork to very good. The Pad See Ew was okay. I was missing the smokey flavor in the beef, but it was fine as a whole. The Pad Thai was another solid dish. We requested that it not be spicy as we had children with us, but we found it still had quite a kick to it. I personally liked it with a bit of spice but just be aware when ordering this. As for the dessert, the lava cake was a hit. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and was devoured. I’m not sure I would order the Roti Hot Plate again. While I did like the presentation, I thought it was too sweet and the roti did not hold up well when the sauce was dripped on. Dek Sen had a version of this in their menu and they executed it much better. I am planning on coming back to try more of their noodle dishes as they had quite a few listed that I am not familiar with. Noodles (sen), as part of the restaurant’s name, are prominent in the menu. Overall, I think this is a good spot if you are looking for authentic Thai food, but I would say not as good as it’s predecessor, Dek Sen (whom I’ll miss forever and will live in my memories).
