15 Los Angeles Coffee Shops With Free Wi-Fi - Eater LA

"Born in 2016, this woman-of-color-owned coffee roaster sports a sick cafe to boot. The black sesame latte is a must-try, as are the pastries, including vegan black sesame buns and mooncakes from Miss Moon (which swung through just in time for the Mid-Autumn Festival)." - Farley Elliott, Paolo Bicchieri

Kindness & Mischief Coffee is a nice spot in the heart of Highland Park! The vibe here is effortlessly cool, with a cozy, artsy atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. The coffee was good—I highly recommend their almond milk mocha, which was creamy and perfectly balanced. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall charm of the place. I love the little touches, like the quirky artwork and the thoughtful details in their presentation. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into everything they do. It can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends, and seating can be a bit tight. But honestly, that’s just a testament to how popular this place is! If you’re in the area, Kindness & Mischief is definitely worth a visit. It’s a great spot to enjoy quality coffee and soak in the local Highland Park vibe.

The cashier was super friendly! It was my first time trying pandesal. I liked that it had many flavors and its pillowy interior and a golden, sandy exterior dusted with breadcrumbs. However, it wasn’t my favorite kind of bread because I prefer french pastries. It was still very good though! Overall, I like this cafe and will come back to use my laptop and hang out there in a random afternoon.

Ordered a black sesame latte! Yum. Didn’t love my ube cheesecake pastry, felt like it was all bread with very little cheesecake filling. Happy to try nonetheless

K & M Coffee Roasters (est 2018) is a chic coffee shop that serve coffee, teas, breakfast and pastries. They are located at HighlandPark neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. Their hours are from Mon-Sun 7am - 4pm. They have a modest selection of coffee/tea, pastries and food items. Similarly, they sell a wide selection of merch, mugs, coffee bags, straws etc. I came early morning and was warmly greeted by a young cute female staff. I ordered a hot Mocha Latte. It was brewed perfectly. Interior decor was adorable and the vibe was relaxing. Prices seem reasonable. Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed my coffee. I recommend this coffee shop.

Google
We love Kindness and Mischief ☕️🍵 Cool vibes. Matcha is pre sweetened and I prefer unsweetened but their coffee is awesome!! And my niece loves their matcha. My daughter loved the vegan pastry options. There wasn’t a gf “treat” option but I believe they have a gf bagel 🥯. My granddaughter loved her rainbow krispie treat. My daughter ordered a chai latte and thought it was very “weak” and watered down. But again- we loved the vibes and would come back again. 🦊💚

Google
One of the BEST coffee shops in LA! Incredible espresso, pour overs, and delicious pastries! Everyone was kind, the owner came out to chat with us for a bit, and it's also in a cool location. I love the Highland Park area and if you're nearby you should definitely stop by! **I recommend any of their pour overs.

"We discontinued disposable straws, but we have reusable straws available for purchase." That alone is a minus one star for me. I'm sure it's a plus one star for some people.

Google
One of my favorite coffee shops in Highland Park. Great coffee, great food, and super friendly baristas. Do note it gets pretty hot and loud in there during peak hours. I prefer to sit outside where it's a bit less hectic.

Yelp
The kindness and Basic B** are my fav drink and bite to eat but you can't really go wrong with anything at this place. All their drinks and food are made with love by everyone that I've come across that works here. The vibe is always good and there's plenty of parking nearby.

Yelp
I saw black sesame latte and I knew I had to come here and try this place out after my hike. Its a cute coffee shop with seating inside and outside. Upon walking in you see plants on the shelf area that are for sale, some really cute exotic looking flowers that they sell there as well. We ended up getting black sesame latte iced and some vegan donuts to try out. Coffee is good and not too sweet, which is how i like my coffee. The donuts are vegan so i notice that the bounce you would normally get in a donut wasn't there but the flavor is good, My favorite would be the cookies and cream. Service is great, super friendly and helpful. Really cute small business coffee shop!

Yelp
Wow what a unique and fun coffee shop. I wish I could have stayed to hangout with my latte. The staff were super friendly and attentive. I ordered an iced black sesame latte. I could tell their espresso was smooth and delicious but I think I just did not like the black sesame flavor. I took a gamble on something I've never tried and I'm glad I did. I definitely want to come back to try another latte when I'm in the area next.

Yelp
I would go as far as to say this is my favorite coffee place. The coffee flavors are unique and the vegan food is so tasty. To top it all off it's a really nice relaxed environment to go to. My first drink was the MISCHIEF. A nice spicy kick with the chocolate ganache base is perfection. My next favorite is the BLACK SESAME LATE. Such a great toasty flavor and nice sweetness. My favorite sandwhich is the LONGANISA. A truly perfect sandwhich in my opinion. Nice soft bread with great meaty flavor for a Vegan sandwhich. I really love it!

Yelp
This coffee shop gets 5 's for aesthetic! It is so cute inside, the pops of color with the plants inside make it very lovely and comforting. Now the coffee gets a solid 3.5! I ordered the kindness drink which is a coconut cream and brown sugar latte. I was hoping for a stronger coconut flavor as well as a stronger coffee flavor. I do love that the sweetness was balanced but I don't appreciate how milky the drink was. Overall they get 4 stars because I could see myself coming back to try something new and chatting with friends in their lovely space.

Kris K.

Yelp
One of the best coffee places I've experienced in LA. The Black Sesame Latte is my favorite so far. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I've gotten a chance to chat with the owner a few times and she couldn't be a more pleasant person. Huge fan of this place.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the coffee spot on Figueroa over any spot. The service is quick and the on point. The ambiance is a regular casual coffee spot with spots to enjoy a sip. The coffee is smooth, caffeinated, and long aftertaste.

Yelp
Love love supporting Filipino owned places, so was happy i was finally able to try k+m! I got their pandan horchata latte and def 5/5! Love the pandan flavor and i finished that quick will come back to try their pastries next time.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe! The employees are super nice, and though the cafe is a bit small, there is a decent amount of seating indoors and outdoors. We ordered the Vegan Tocino Sandwich, the Pandan Horchata Latte, and the Houjicha Latte. The Tocino Sandwich was amazing, and the pandesal bun was *chefs kiss.* When I ordered the Pandan Horchata Latte, I was told that it would be on the sweeter side, and it was honestly a very strong but also sweet horchata (I felt that the pandan didn't get to shine as much, but still very yummy!). The Houjicha was probably my favorite hoji I've tried (though, to be fair, the only other hojicha I've tried is Urban Matcha's in Vegas). This cafe was a vibe, and I wish we had this in Vegas!
google avatar

Yelp
The good: cute coffee shop branding.....and the barista seemed pretty cheery. The bad: got a stomach ache after taking a few sips of the pandan horchata. Overwhelmingly sweet and even sour (!) with the pandan flavoring unfortunately being mostly masked. The super sweetness is from the horchata component, which tasted as if a whole box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal was soaked in milk and concentrated to coffee cup volume. The sourness, I'm wildly guessing, is from the coffee beans themselves (by design) as my sister got a pour over that had a funky, but not unpleasant, taste. I mean the sourness wouldn't have been bad in a pour over (I like adventurous pour overs) but definitely a hard no in a mixed drink like this. Also got an ube cheesecake pandesal. Wished I had the option for it to be heated because it was slightly stale. Taste-wise it's fine; ube filling reminds me a lot of that of pan de ube at Valerio's but with a sliiight tangy cheesecake edge. Quite the bummer since I've had this spot bookmarked for some time. Very hesitant to try this place again.

Yelp
This is a super cute AAPI-owned cafe! I love the general drinks, snacks, vibes, and service. I just wish they had Wi-Fi! I had the ube cheesecake pan de sal. I couldn't taste any cheesecake, but it was tasty. I love the ube halaya inside the pan de Sal. It is a great dessert for those who like sweet but not too sweet. Wish it was warmed. Note to self: sesame drinks confuse my palette. It's not sweet but almost savory. Interesting... Would've added more stars if the dessert or drinks were winners but alas, they were just ok.

Yelp
They showed me Kindness when my car broke down outside on a Monday morning. It made me feel grateful despite the circumstances and I will be back for more coffee soon!

Yelp
Delicious coffee. I wish I lived closer to enjoy this place on the daily. Love the vegan sandos and I'm not vegan! I can never go wrong on what I order here.

Yelp
This was a great find! Kind staff and great service was met with a really good Chai Latte! Inside is small but felt open and the vibe was spot on.

Yelp
We absolutely love everything we got we tried two vegan pandesal matcha, red bean and pineapple upside down Then two Regular pandesal I believe one was butter and the other was ube it was super hard to say, which was our favorite. They were all delicious. We did take them home and warm them up and really preferred them slightly warmed We had one scone and a cookie. The scone was delicious just the right amount of sweetness and the cookie well cookies are coooookies
google avatar

Yelp
I love the vibe here. Warm and welcoming, creative but not too frenetic. I got the Dirty Banana, a concoction with banana milk and espresso. It was absolutely delicious. You get the feeling that the people who work here love the place too. 'I try to have a Dirty Banana every single day,' the woman who took my order told me. Comfy seating, plants for sale, good background music, and vibes all around.

Yelp
I was really excited because I trying to find a black sesame latte in Los Angeles. While the latte itself was good, it tasted like a plain latte. You couldn't taste any of the sesame, it was so disappointing . My friend got the kindness signature latte and that too didn't have any flavor other than milk and espresso. While I appreciate their very vegan friendly drinks, they just don't have any flavor beyond a basic latte. However, I am still interested in trying their vegan food but don't think I'll care to try their flavored lattes anytime soon.

Yelp
Parking: limited, if you want to dash in and out. But I've been able to find parking around the corner on side streets, and don't mind the very short walk. Food: delicious sweets! Yummy vegan options! The breakfast burrito was just right for my appetite. I only wish they didn't run out of their sweets so quickly, but that just means I have to wake up earlier to beat the crowd. :) Service: stellar! They are welcoming, warm, and make you and your very silly kids feel seen and heard- kid friendly nice coffee shops are rare these days, and I do appreciate this coffee shops service and family and kid and dog friendly atmosphere! They also support local community projects, public schools, poc/woc events and businesses, and aren't shy about the causes they believe in!
google avatar

Layla L.

Yelp
I really loved their autumn spice latte but since that's gone, I tried a black sesame latte, which didn't have any flavor and was too sweet. They kindly remade it for me, but it was the same result. Just tasted like a glass of warm sweet milk without flavor. I actually questioned if there was an espresso shot in it or not. Furthermore, their pastries are also kinda flavorless. Seven dollars for a subpar latte is too much when there's so many other better options in the area like 2 kids and superba
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely my favorite coffee in the area! I haven't had a miss from them yet. Recommend their lattes but everything is good.
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibe, great coffee drinks, and snacks. We visited the cool coffee shop in a trendier area of Highland Park and had some coffee and pastries. Definitely would recommend. I liked watching a handful of dog owners come in with their pets while their owners got some coffee. Great service. Fun Fact: for AAPI month this week, this establishment is AAPI owned.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Space is very tiny, no room to stand. The matcha was premade and tastes like pure milk. The kindness drink is very watered down.
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
Highland Park is always a great spot for coffee, and I usually go to my main Civil coffee (shout-out to them), but I wanted to try another place I heard great things of: Kindness and Mischief coffee. The ambiance of the place is very Highland Park: abstract and artsy which is of no surprise... I liked it! I would say the service was top tier, the woman with the bombastic glasses was so kind, cheerful, and welcoming. People tend to underestimate what quality service can do, and I could just tell she loved her job through her helpfulness of recommendations, etc. One of my favorite things about this place: they DO NOT charge extra for alternative milk, and have not done so since their opening. And no they do not do this to make up for lackluster coffee, their espresso was great! For my Capp, I would say it's more on the acidic side (which I love) and the lady loved the pumpkin spice latte with a cayenne spiced twist. Overall, this is a fantastic place to go, and deserves a 5/5 on all fronts.
google avatar

Jane L.

Yelp
Slowly making my way through trying all the cafes in Highland Park (trust me, a new one pops up every few months). And Kindness & Mischief was a real delight! Owner Mo greets everyone with such kindness and familiarity, even if it's your first time there. Very cute and cosy, perfect for a coffee date or just to unwind over a hot drink. I got the Ube Pandesal and Black Sesame Latte and they were both delicious. They've got a ton of my favorite Southeast Asian flavors and specialty drinks!
google avatar

Michael Y.

Yelp
Great coffee shop in Highland Park!!! Big fan of the Black Sesame Caramel Latte as well as the Miso Caramel Latte. All alternative milks are free as well which is a great touch. Parking is either on the street or some lots nearby, but it's Highland Park, so you know what to expect from that. Service was good and they were generally quick each time I've gone. Will be back often and definitely recommend !!
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
I came here just before getting my mother some coffee and a little pastry. I ordered a regular latte and the kindness with oat milk. I also ordered the coffee cake and ube cheesecake. I completely forgot to take a picture but it was all delicious and made for a great start to the day. The service was exceptional as I was trying to choose between the kindness and pandan horchata and the barista told me the pandan horchata was a lot sweeter. I appreciated the feedback and ended up going with the kindness. It's a cute coffee shop on Figueroa and because of the time I went, around 845am, I found parking right in front. It is such a relaxed vibe with great service and coffee. I can imagine parking being tricky, but it's worth it.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
The place has a good amount of seating but the vibe feels uncomfy. People behind the counter unfriendly and not warm. Cold brew tasted old and too strong, I didn't finish it. Pastries in the case didn't look inviting or fresh. Probably will choose another place next time for my morning caffeine kick.
google avatar

Yelp
Kindness & Mischief is a cute little coffee shop with a quaint & cozy vibe. There's lots of fun merchandise along the walls and a lovely assortment of plants for sale. They have a rotating multi-roaster program with a focus on local roasters and sell tea from Art of Tea and vegan pastries & treats from Crème Caramel LA. They also offer alternative milk options for no additional charge, which is great. It's been in the neighborhood since 2016. The name is cute, and every time I drive by I say, "I should check it out." Finally, I did! I ordered a drip coffee ($4) and a vegan coffee cake ($3). Unfortunately, the drip coffee was too strong, acidic, and had a weird flavor. I couldn't drink it and had to toss it. The vegan Coffee cake was moist and dense. The crumb topping had a hint of cinnamon. I wasn't overly impressed with it, but I needed something to get the nasty coffee taste out of my mouth and it helped. I had high hopes for K&M. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Perhaps I should have tried one of the signature drinks. If I go back, maybe I'll try the Pandan Horchata Latte. It seems to be a customer favorite. Don't let my experience deter you from giving this place a try. *Metered street parking *No Wi-Fi
google avatar

Sara K.

Yelp
A cute little cafe on Figueroa. DRINKS: hojicha latte ($6) and black sesame latte ($7) were both good. We ordered the black sesame latte to be less sweet and the hojicha latte as is, and were pleased with the sweetness level for both drinks. Hojicha latte was just strong enough in flavor and not too milky. SERVICE: friendly baristas! AMBIANCE: colorful and whimsical. Seats are limited (small space) and not the most comfy. Minimal outlets, no WiFi, and loud pop music = not the best study/work cafe, but a good spot for grabbing a drink and catching up with a friend. Love that it is POC women-owned :)

Mia T.

Yelp
$13 for HALF a sandwich feels like a crime haha. Big shame because the food and coffee did taste fire. They forgot the avocado on the sandwich to-go, thankfully we decided to eat it quickly there and did give me the avocado when I asked. But if any other average joe took the sandwich box home, they would've opened it and paid $13 for a palm sized half sandwich without any avocado haha Only person behind the bar who was kind and smiling was the barista guy with the ponytail. Wishing the best to the cashier girl who might've been having a tough day, don't know her story but godspeed girl!
google avatar

Ash Y.

Yelp
i had such high hopes for this coffee after seeing it had good reviews, but let me just tell you that this was by far the worst coffee i've ever had if you could even call it coffee. i decided to order their signature kindness coffee, but the "coffee" tasted like straight up milk with the essence of caffeine along with some coconut and straight cinnamon powder. kindness more like mischief jk but yea i was honestly a bit disappointed in my drink especially since i had also paid a hefty 7 bucks for it. :( interior was cute though along with the decor so i'll give it that
google avatar

Yelp
2nd time stopping in for coffee and we also purchased a plant. I don't make it out to LA too often but loved the coffee and the friendliness of the baristas so we came back. Very chill vibes in this place. This time we stayed and relaxed a bit before hitting the road again.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was quick and convenient, ambiance was casual and relaxing. I only went in for a coffee, I didn't try the food.

Yelp
Free easy parking Dog friendly inside Bathroom inside Plenty of seats Tons of plants inside Delicious specialty unique coffees.. my brew was strong. Yummy blueberry scone. Attentive friendly & hospitable staff Don't know the price as I didn't pay Will return So happy I started my bday here :)

Yelp
Cute little place we discovered searching for a bite to eat in the morning. Avocado toast was tasty and so beautifully presented. I'm dying to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee in Highland Park. Really cute shop. Food menu looks interesting but I believe is primarily vegan and I did not try it at the time.
google avatar

Noban T.

Yelp
Their hours are not up to date on Apple Maps or Yelp. Long story short I go on a birthday tour to coffee shops and arrived here at 2:10 only to find out they closed at 2. It's irresponsible as a business to not keep hours updated on some of the top resources customers use to get information about your business. I live 30 miles away and will not bother trying again.
google avatar

Caroline K.

Yelp
Their Houjicha latte with oat milk is refreshingly light! No extra cost for alternative milk- sweet! I got their mochi krunchie in black sesame which looked so cute. Some seats/tables inside. No wifi.

Nathan R.

Yelp
Ambiance and coffee was good, cashier was rude and uninterested. Which is unfortunate because the it's very pretty and has a good vibe, but having a rude staff kind of brings that down
google avatar

Elisa S.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this cute little place out. I really loved their indoor seating area and the overall vibe of the place. However, I thought the coffee and food item I purchased was just okay. Niceness latte: 7/10 (nothing too crazy) would I get it again, maybe... but it wouldn't be my go to drink. I think I'd try something else instead. "Basic B!": 3/10, this was a total flop for me. I thought it was extremely oily and lacked flavor except for the overpowering arugula on it. Also, it had way too much Mayo for my liking. Definitely wouldn't have this again. Note: Seating has a 90 minute time limit, that way other customers can enjoy the space. I thought this was nice because given the small area inside, I can see it getting very crowded.
google avatar

Melanie L.

Yelp
Am I the only one who thinks the staff is so unfriendly and rude? The cashier was initially distracted by the fact her friend brought her flowers which was fine because I didn't know what I wanted yet and there wasn't a line behind us. I ordered two sandwiches and when only one was left, she dryly said "there's only one. Your total is ..." I haven't even ordered a drink yet lol. When I put in my hojicha latte order, she gives me my updated total again when I haven't even ordered another drink for my partner at home. Like I understand if it's ridiculously busy, and I'm being really annoying and slow, but I literally already had the next drink in mind and there was no one behind me again. She says instructions about where to grab my drink, and to get my sandwich from the fridge. Sorry that I missed that the hot sandwich was going to come from the kitchen and they will call me, so when I asked her about that sandwich, she looked at me like I had asked her to do a little song and dance for her lol. I get it, it's kind of loud in there and I guess I wasn't paying attention? But no need to be rude. This coffee shop has a really nice bustling coffee shop vibe. it's fun, and there's a lot of chatter and excitement going around, unlike other coffee shops where you could literally hear a pin drop. I was searching through their yelp to see if I was literally the only one, and this cashier was just having a bad day. But apparently someone else thought the same about the staff being unfriendly and honestly in my case, just straight up, rude and weird and rushy.. and I was so disappointed to see that it's Filipino owned. like I get that it's in a gentrified neighborhood but my goodness this is not the fun, familial Filipino vibes. Three stars only because the food and drink wer decent. I wish I could say I'd wanna come back but definitely not for the annoyed and tense vibes from cashiers lol
google avatar

Thomas W.

Yelp
I love this place. I always try to stop by if I'm in the area. I usually either get the miso caramel latte (cold) or the hojicha (cold). The miso caramel latte has such a nice flavor profile that keeps me coming back. The hojicha is just tasty and the added milk or milk alternative really brings it to another level. I will update my review if I get a chance to try the black sesame latte. It's been on my wishlist, but I keep going back to my favorites.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Cozy space with both indoor and outdoor. They have outlets to plug stuff. There's a cozy nook at the front that's not pictured. They have various drinks selections. The staff is friendly and eager to get your drink order. I got their vegan adobo breakfast burrito. It was ok. I could taste the flavor of soy curls when they're not rinse out enough. I will come back to try their other food and beverages. Definitely a place to read, bring a friend, or do some light work.
google avatar

Shreya B.

Yelp
My friend insisted I come in and try the seasonal drink which was an orange chocolate latte and wow. It was out of this world. I hope it becomes a permanent item so next time I come I can still order it!!! So delicious I'm still thinking about it 2 weeks later. Ambiance was also cute and nice coffee shop to work in .
google avatar

Mollie H.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. It's just down from civil but imo so much more my style of coffee shop. My first time here I ordered a delicious espresso tonic (if you are into that, I am). My partner and I ordered a couple breakfast sandwiches and we are still talking about how good they are and reasonably priced. Service was super kind and patient and the shop is very cute. 100% will be back.

Sam B.

Yelp
#55 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. Cute coffee shop with a variety of drinks and pastries. Sadly, the pastries were disappointing. The ube pandesal was way too doughy, like biting into a hard bread roll, and there was hardly any filling. The scone was also pretty dry. Even the specialty lattes were lackluster. The pandan horchata latte was way too sweet even for me, so a warning would have been nice. And the miso caramel latte (with oatmilk) tasted like a basic latte without any added flavor. Service could have also been better. If you're an employee and you see a customer struggling to carry drinks and food that you just handed her, shouldn't you offer a carrier or bag or something instead of just staring blankly? Lastly, parking is pretty difficult because the coffee shop is located on a main street that gets extremely busy and packed, so expect to walk.

Gen B.

Yelp
This is a review about service not quality. Planned my day around grabbing a coffee from here and paid for parking only for them to run out of ice on a hot day. Stuff happens I get it, but I need a reliable coffee place.

Yelp
Kindness & Mischief Coffee is dependable, cute, and funny all in one package. Something that you would want from a relationship too, I guess ;) A friend of mine told me about their Pandan Horchata Latte that I've never heard of being offered anywhere else. The first time I went on a Sunday morning (they were already sold out...bummer! Must have been good), but I was finally able to try it last month and it was SO good. If you have a sweet tooth, you should definitely order this. Keep it mind, it comes iced (no hot option). I usually don't order sweet drinks so it lasted me the entire day. I'm glad I got to stretch out my dessert drink. In addition, I couldn't resist their "Be Kind B*tches" socks. It was so clever and funny. I had to support the message, uh, store ;) This morning, I needed a warm drink by the school I was supporting and lo and behold, Kindness & Mischief Coffee is nearby again. Their breakfast sandwiches sounded and looked so good in both the photo & the description. What started as a pour over coffee (which was made perfectly) also was accompanied by an order of the "Noxi" sandwich (I added soyrizo). They had me at "chipotle aoili" (I'm such a sucka for chipotle aoili) and "fried egg" (please add to anything). It was just as yummy as it sounds in this description that it got me saying "okay K&M, I see you!" after my first bite. Enough to make an imprint of "I'll be back" etched in my mind. I also appreciated that they had some cute plants and additional merch. to look at while I waited and even more that you can order online to minimize the wait, further protecting yourselves and the workers there. Good job K&M! Raising my coffee cup as a nod to your service, quality, and kindness =)
