A Vegan Fine Dining Restaurant and Casual Diner Are Opening in University Heights | Eater San Diego

"I describe Kindred as the ground-breaking vegan restaurant that Kory Stetina opened after a vegan beer-dinner pop-up, launching the concept out of the building’s former co-working space and helping to establish his reputation before his later projects." - Candice Woo

Best place to worship and eat at dinner church. Great place that helps the homelessness. Pastor Ashley always has a good sermon, always well written and delivered.

This is the single most loving and engaged community of faith I've ever encountered. On Sunday morning you can feel the love this congregation has the moment you walk through the door and are invited to coffee and pastries. That feeling of welcome continues through the service, a traditional format service that incorporates fresh music, art and attitudes to create a blend of familiarity and exciting newness. The service has a "hand-made" feel of authenticity missing in many large churches. Grace's dedication to the community extends far past Sunday morning. The building plays host to a homeless youth ministries, an interfaith meditation group, AA and NA meetings, an organic food co-op and is a regular meeting place for local clubs and charities. Grace reminds you of everything a church can be,

I attended a lovely Christmas service here two years ago and now volunteer regularly with the associated non-profit that this church started to help homeless youth. Though I am not of the same faith the people and pastor of this congregation were warm, welcoming, and happy to have me there. They really do open their arms to EVERYONE. I know for a fact that this church and congregation openly welcomes those under the LGBT umbrella. This church exhibits all the love and acceptance that the bible/Jesus speaks to. Wonderful experience , people with obvious faith and love in their hearts and actions. I recommend this church to anyone who is new to town and looking for a new homebase church :)

I've been to services here a time or 2 on Wednesday evening over the years, and have participated in some of their movie nights. I volunteer with a group that rents the church facilities- so I'm in and out of the building a fair amount. I'm always impressed with how nice the staff and parishioners are. They always have a smile for us. They take their responsibility to the community seriously, but they also know how to have a good time.

Beautiful community full of diverse, quirky, accepting people, doing our best to love God and love our neighbors. We tend to be a little more playful than your average church, to tell some jokes that maybe other people pretend not to know in church, and to tell the truth about the messiness of our own lives. We worship with respect for our Lutheran traditions, with some post-modern twists thrown in. We wrestle with Scripture honestly, bringing our brains as well as our hearts to our questions. We find the unconditional love of God for us, no matter what we've done or who we are. You're very welcome to come try us! (Not sure what's up with the weird review about below. We most certainly do not have any such thing on our property, and if we did, we wouldn't label it with a sign. We could all psychoanalyze that review to our hearts content.)

I go to church here, and they have great food. They are so kind to me, and I love their personality.

What a beautiful, welcoming church. Kindred hosted a Homeless Remembrance Day in partnership with Healthcare for the Homeless Houston. They were welcoming and inclusive of people of all (or no) faith traditions.

Love that this church accepts and welcomes EVERY ONE! 🌈🌈👍 Pastor Ashley is welcoming and friendly. Because of her and Kindred, I have a relationship with God and desire to an even more intimate relationship with HIM.

Yelp
Seems like is closed for now. But I like how there is a item outside where people can write a prayer on a peace of item and tie it on the stuff. The prayers are really touching. Well done church.

Yelp
While not a member, I have seen the awesome work Grace Lutheran is doing in the community. The staff and pastor are really caring people who want to help those around Montrose who need support and love. Grace has started a weekly program with the local homeless LGBT youth, Grace Place. Each Thursday they provide a yummy homecooked dinner and an evening of conversation, entertainment and emotional support. This program is new, but they are getting a good crowd and really providing a necessary service. The congregation is small, which is great if you're looking for a church where the pastor and other congregation members will really get to know you and be there for you. Services on Sunday and a short vespers service on Wednesday nights.

Yelp
Grace Lutheran is a cute, beautiful little church tucked away in a neighborhood in the Montrose area. It's a small church, there are literally no more than 30 people in the congregation, unless we just went on a slow Sunday but I doubt it because it was the day before Christmas Eve when we went. The church is both beautiful on the inside and out and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Probably because the congregation is so small so they recognize new people real easily. They also provide a small breakfast before every Sunday service of donuts, coffee and orange juice...things like that, which is nice. The church service itself was good but a little too old fashioned for my fiance and my taste. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that. Some people like church service to be done in that manner and some people don't. We are still looking for a lutheran church that we can get married in but now that the venue we've chosen is off of Cypresswood, I will look for churches more in that part of town.

Yelp
Like Laura B, I am not a member at Grace, but I am so proud to call them friends. Their wonderfully supportive community has given such gifts of understanding and welcome to all who come through their doors. I choose to support Grace with my donations because they support the community around them. This congregation has a lot to offer, including wonderful social activities.

Yelp
Kindred is a loving community that welcomes all! They offer a unique dinner church worship experience. Very LGBT-friendly, and have deep ties to Montrose community.

Yelp
A great local church that is LGBTQ friendly!! The church has gone through some amazing changes and it keeps growing. All are welcome at this church. I recently moved to Louisiana and I haven't found a church like Grace. I attend church service every possibility I get. They have an adult bible study before the 10:30 a.m. service. They support local youth through their program called Grace Place. If you want to get involved in your community and experience God, try Grace Lutheran. :)

Yelp
Very warm and vibrant congregation. LGBT friendly. Service is kinda too early (1030am) for my tastes. Traditional liturgical (responsive readings/songs) service with a quirky flair. Not large at all. Less than 50 people on palm Sunday.
