This place is a gem on Maple Street. The fried mushrooms were superb. The service from Tucker was also courteous and prompt. The burger was really good although I would’ve put more mayo on it personally. Worth a try if you like vegan stuff. I was actually amazed that the fried cauliflower mac & cheese did not have any milk products. It really felt like actual mac & cheese.

I love this place! You know how you have a go to feel good restaurant that you know won't miss with flavor? Kindred is my go to place for lunch and dinner in Louisiana. As a side note they have a great bar but the drinks below are mock tales. Atmosphere: laid back, chill environment. I wouldn't consider this place upscale. It's cozy and relaxed. Service: I've been several times and they don't miss. Friendly with great suggestions. Food: Slappin and priced great. Each item is under 20 but they're priced so that you can order more than one. I usually spend about $30 because I like to eat 🥴. You can definitely do it for under $20 per person. I'm never disappointed.

I had the Brussels Sprouts as the appetizer. Delicious. I ordered the "shrimp" po boy (made with mushrooms). I asked for ranch instead of buffalo sauce. No problem! Also delicious. It came with a fresh spinach side salad. The waitress came and checked on me a few times. I ordered the chocolate mousse which was delicious. I would have preferred they didn't sprinkle it with hard red candy hearts. The surprise came at the end with the bill. They added 18% service charge. I checked the menu and sure enough at the bottom it says 18% service charge on all orders. I think this is a sneaky way to fool customers. If they want to charge 18% more, they should charge 18% more and list it as the price of the items. This changed my visit from a 5 star to a 3 star. Sad business practice

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. We came during happy hour and grabbed drinks. The drinks were tasty and made wonderfully. I can't stop speaking about how delicious the vegan meatball sub and fried mushrooms were! The server was nice too. Just an overall great time. I can't wait to come back.

Service was a little slow and nobody paid attention to us after the food was served. But the food itself was really good. Quinoa salad was amazing. Prices are a little high. Everything is vegan, so that makes this place a great option for vegetarian and vegan folks.

Great place with amazing vegan food! The staff was friendly. We ordered nachos and brussel sprouts. Nachos were very good, the brussel sprouts were a bit burned though. The maple burger was very tasty. The po-boy was a bit dry and could use more sauce, still good though. Spaghetti was okay, i wish they would grate the cheese or just omit it instead of putting a whole slice on top. The meatballs were a very good meat substitute. Overall good, there's a place for improvement though.

Are you vegetarian or vegan looking to enjoy a good meal? Here's your spot. Easy to find, Kindred is a nice small gem with great tasting vegan entrees. Nice priced and very friendly staff. I feel you would definitely enjoy these entrees to satisfy your appetite. I enjoyed the cauliflower Mac and cheese and tuna sandwich myself. Great for families, friends and dates. ENJOY!

Delicious vegan food, drinks and attentive service! Visited here for an early dinner and ordered the vg shrimp po'boy, xango dessert and hibiscus breeze drink. Was served a small complimentary salad to start with which was a nice touch. The po'boy was incredibly tasty and the xango was indulgent - could have done with some cream/ ice cream but yummy nevertheless. Staff were great and didn't need to call to ask for service as they came round when needed. The restaurant also has a lovely atmosphere!

The last few times I've been to Louisiana, I've had Kindred. It is delicious! I've ordered the yuca fries, which is better than potato fries! And I've had their cauliflower Mac and cheese. This is so good that I can't believe it's vegan! The times I've ordered, I placed a carry out and while I can say, it would be a nice place to sit down and eat. It certainly had a nice vibe to it. I recommend anyone to check them out, especially their yuca fries!

This is definitely a mixed review, so I'll start by saying that we were very pleased with our food. If you're looking for good vegan food, check 'em out. But from the top: This was a Saturday evening, during Easter break, and this is the heart of the university area. So this could have been an unusual day/night. In other words, possibly, earlier in the day, and not during a holiday, this place could have been busier. But, we walked in and immediately noticed that one table had a spray bottle and rag on it, another had dirty dishes on it, another only had one chair, yet another had no chairs, and there were maybe 3 empty tables (with chairs). Plus, quite a few chairs were stacked along the wall. There were two people behind the bar, and otherwise, the place was empty. So, our initial thought was they were closed. But the lady behind the bar assured us they were open and told us to "sit anywhere you'd like", which we found amusing, since only 3 of the 7 empty tables were available. So we sat and were tended to quickly. It was as we sat and waited that we decided that there is a "college factor". The place is pretty bare, with some not-so-great looking plants. There were a few uncleaned glasses at the bar. Maybe they had a very busy afternoon? But then the food came. So let's talk about that: I'm not a vegan, but my GF is. I never know what to expect with vegetable based "meat", but I'm open minded. I got the "meatball" sandwich, and my GF got spring rolls and yucca fries. And everything was really good! My sandwich was simple but good, and quite honestly, I don't think I would have known it was not really meat. We were both impressed. And our server paid good attention to us. My GF often cares as much about the environment and atmosphere of a restaurant, which may keep us from making a trip back. But, the next time we're at Redd's Uptilly Bar across the street, we very well could end up getting food from Kindred.

I came in here for solo brunch on a Sunday and sat at the bar. I was immediately greeted and treated very well by the staff. The location was easy to get to from the St Charles street car. This seems to be one of the only full vegan spots in NOLA with very few exceptions and it did not disappoint. I got the vegan tofu scramble with hash browns and a chocolate chip cookie. It was honestly very lighthearted vegan vibes up in here, cute / hipster decor. This a great venue for everyone, vegan or not.

Ordered via Uber eats. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich which was excellent. The Buffalo cauliflower Mac & Cheese and yuca fries also very good. The Tuna sandwich was good but not great, mostly due to messiness of it and fairly bland (good but not great). I'll order again for sure.

As a vegetarian, I have always had a bit of trouble finding something for me in some of the restaurants in New Orleans. I was pleasantly surprised to randomly find this wonderful vegan restaurant while roaming around the city. We were the only people in the restaurant at first so we were served quickly. The woman who served us was super friendly, helpful with the menu, and gave up plenty of time to figure out what to eat and drink. I had a wonderful quinoa salad with a tasty dressing (which was named after the restaurant).The fried Brussels sprouts were amazing! I also ordered a old fashioned which was quite good. Not usually a huge fan of cocktails, but why not! I have a significant amount of vegan food, and this place has some top notch dishes. Highly recommend even if you aren't veg. There's a little but of something for everyone. You won't miss animal product at all. Such a nice and relaxed spot for a bite and a drink or two. There was a bar for seating as well as a number of tables and chairs. Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this space as well as the food!

I was so excited to visit the restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. I went there while visiting NOLA for the Essence Festival. Upon walking in, there was a slightly unpleasant smell. Now I know NOLA is old, but I do not want to smell an old musty odor when walking into a restaurant. It was not crowded which could have been a sign however several people came in for to go orders (maybe to avoid the mandatory 18% applied to checks)! The food did not live up to my expectations. My sister liked the Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich but my daughter hated the soy burger. She only enjoyed the fries. I only enjoyed the CBD drink. Although my sister enjoyed her meal she says she probably would not go back because the streets surrounding the area are torn up making it difficult to park and get out!

Great food about 4 from the Quarter so a Lyft is needed if coming from there. Casual with great recommendations from the staff. The meatball was one of the best I've had in awhile (super fresh French bread, perfect meatball to sauce ratio and the cheese didn't interfere with the sandwich), a solid Botanical Sabbatical mocktail with just the right balance of flavors, yucca fries nicely lightly breaded. The quinoa salad was a nice size, very filling. Good gluten free choices so you won't have only one choice. Staff was great - good tips and checked in several times. Fun music playing as well.

Disappointed is an understatement. I was excited to try this place but it's a solid disappointment. The poor kid running the bar and restaurant was eternally in the weeds. However, it wasn't his fault but more due to an utter lack of training. We stuck it out and waited 45 minutes for an earl grey and French 75, after an hour we received our three appetizers (the place was not full and online orders were paused). In a city known for food this place clearly has no interest in standing out or possibly even being in business. To the lady who occasionally came from the back to tell that poor kid what he was doing wrong, you're pathetic. To the kid who tried so hard, if you want to be a server go to a business that gives a hoot about their employees and customers. No one benefits from front of house trial by fire.

Sweet littler vegan place uptown. The decorating indoors is very cute with lots off sparkly lights. Enjoyed all the food and would happily eat again! I had a paloma habanero drink (virgin style) and it was nice but there wasn't nearly enough heat.

This place is very cute and has a great variety of vegan foods. It was hard to choose what to get, but I ended up with a gigantic, very messy but delicious "tuna" sandwich. My mom enjoyed her burger. The Brussels sprouts were good, but I would have preferred a little sweetness.

Tasty vegan diner food which gets a higher rating due to lack of local options. The coffee martini was tasty but heavy on the coffee liqueur. The fried cauliflower appetizer was just the right size -- about a 10-12 oz bowl of uniformly trimmed, air fried florets. For my entree, I ordered the fried mushroom "shrimp poboy" -- and was really surprised to see so few mushrooms. Any respectable shrimp poboy is busting with filling, but this was a sedate sandwich with the dozen or so little mushrooms safely nestled within the margins of the pillowy poboy roll. Each bite was 65% bread and 15% sauce -- I could barely tell there were mushrooms in there (maybe they are more expensive here, IDK). Service was timely, friendly and organized.

Their fried cauliflower is awesome! I ordered Caili Mac & Cheese w Kindred sauce. I loved the fried cauliflower so good!

This was the worst dining experience I've ever had. Me and my colleagues were here for a conference. Many people were vegan so they wanted to try this place. We made a reservation, knowing that we were a group of 10. They even called to confirm the reservation, so they knew we were coming. Slowest service ever! It took 45 minutes to get water and half of our drink order. Food trickled out at a snail's pace and there was no explanation or any care given from our server. I was so hungry, I went next door to the Insomnia Cookie store. Those cookies were delicious, and the staff were nice. The food at Kindred was awful. The "tuna salad" looked like cat food. I felt like I was in prison; given just a glass of water and some slop, and not able to leave.

The salad was delicious and had the right amount of spices for me. My husband had the meatball sub with a side salad which he thought was delicious as well. Even though we ordered takeout, the service was great. We will definitely be ordering from them again.

Cauliflower Po'Boy was excellent some of the best I've had. In the back are the remains of the chicken sandwich which was so good I didn't catch a photo of. It's better than real chicken sandwich's I've had back in Los Angeles. I'd recommend giving this place a shot.

As vegans, we are always on the lookout for places that serve lots of veggies and whole grains. Sadly Kindred did not fit the bill. I'd looked at their menu online before we arrived and decided on brussels sprouts and quinoa. Alas, both had been taken off of the menu. Just because a restaurant is "meatless"... doesn't mean that it is healthy!! PS There was only one other table of people, yet the service was s l o w.

Yelp doesn't do half stars, so I'm rounding up to 3 stars from 2.5. My review is based off of my experience as a party of 12. Came around 6pm on a Tuesday night. There were maybe 2 other small parties eating in the restaurant. They have 1 guy doubling as both the waiter and bartender. We ordered our food: multiple starters, multiple shrimp poboys, multiple maple street burgers. The food didn't come out for at least an hour, probably more. Normally, starters come out first followed by the main dishes. Nope, main dishes came out first and one of the starters ordered was the very last thing to arrive. Also, we ordered multiple shrimp poboys and burgers, but I'm guessing they weren't all cooked at the same time which was strange. Half of us had to wait for the poboys for another 20min while the others got to start eating their poboys. The wait would not have been as big of a deal if the food was really good. Unfortunately, this was not the case. My friends who got the shrimp poboy could not finish their sandwich as whatever orange sauce in it was so sour and vinaigrette tasting that it just ruined their appetite. Even my vegan friend was left disappointed at the food. I personally have no complaints on what I ordered which was the maple street burger- onion rings were crispy, bread was good, etc. Since the restaurant seems like a smaller, locally owned business, they may not have had the manpower to accommodate 12 of us at a time. However, the restaurant is big enough to seat at least 50 people so I would hope that they can increase their service speed in the future.

Damn! This place did a really good job. Loved their vegan cauliflower poboy. The service was great and the food was delicious. Highly recommended for anyone looking to have a good time. The chef actually came and asked us about the customization we wanted with the sauce. Loved it!!!!! Best place is New Orleans to have vegan / cauliflower poboy. Definitely coming back for the crunchiness ;)

I am not vegan, but this was so delicious I could be!!! I do have shellfish allergies and being in New Orleans is risky- so vegan is typically safe!!! The food was made to order, flavorful and delicious. Cauliflower po boy and onion rings. The rings were PERFECT- crispy, not over battered and the sweetest onion!! Delicious if you also like quirky locations this place checks all the boxes. Nestled in a cute neighborhood with other local businesses. Great neighborhood gem!! Off the beaten path, but worth the visit. Don't underestimate the portions- you'll be full.

Sad food, lackluster service. Given this place a try a couple of times; really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the food is amongst the most unremarkable that I've ever had. Think culinary level of a school cafeteria. The Brussel sprouts were 80% burnt end pieces you couldn't even get your fork in to. The nachos were more than underwhelming. When they came out my girlfriend and I just looked at each other like "are you serious". It was a smallish amount of chips, half of which were completely dry of queso or any ingredients, a minimal scoop of guac, equally small amount of pico de gallo, and a little but of corn and black beans sprinkled on top. Look, for $10 I'm not expecting a giant mound of nachos, but what came out looked like a snack for a school child, made by said school child. The bartender had to look up what's in a Moscow Mule...one of the easiest and most well known cocktails of all time.

Sunday evening... Fantastic service Nachos were amazing! Hibiscus Breeze cocktail so delicious!! And on Happy Hour for $5.00! Fried Brussels perfect! Waffle fries great and we added four different dips!!! Fried cauliflower Mac 'n cheese out of this world!!! Loved everything!!

Amazing food. We started with the nachos. The cheese sauce is probably the best I have had to date. The vegan Mac N cheese is a little sweet but amazing. The mushroom poboy was a little lacking, needed a little more filling to match the size of bread.

Food sucks. Service sucks. Takes at least 90 minutes for a salad. Just go somewhere else.

Wonderful service and food. Would recommend to anyone, vegan or not. Great cocktails also.

All vegan! They have really good mock tails, cocktails, and other beverages. Everything was delicious. For starters we ordered fried mushrooms, waffle fries, and fried brussel sprouts. And for main we ordered spicy fried chicken and shrimp poboy. It's so good!!! Great service too! We ate everything up, so there's no pictures. But here are some photos of the dessert. You will not be disappointed.

Came here for a birthday brunch for a friend. They shut the restaurant down to other customers during the party, which had about 30 guests. We were treated to sausage, hash browns, French toast, fruit, pancakes, mimosas, and this beautiful, purple hibiscus cocktail. The French toast and the hash browns were my favorite. And the purple drink was delicious, too! This was my first time here, but I would definitely come back again to try other menu items.

We showed up for 9pm dinner, didn't get our drinks for 15 minutes despite only six tables in use in the place. Dinner took a full hour to arrive. Meatball sub and burger were tasty. Cauliflower mac and cheese was inedible. Cannot recommend.

i was disappointed with the food at kindred. the vegan/veggie menu looked so good and i had such high hopes but was disappointed with the outcome. I ordered the fake chicken nuggets - the fake meat was so chewy you couldn't even chew it; the coating and the sauce were good so just ate that. the fake tuna sandwich tasted and looked more like potato salad and had an odd taste. overall, disappointed with my food experience

The spicy chicken sandwich, shrimp poboy, waffle fries, fried mushrooms, and fried brussel sprouts were fantastic. The chocolate mousse and parfait were good, but we were too stuffed after the meal to really enjoy them.

Holy. Moly. Kindred is THE BEST!!!!!!!! 100% all Vegan menu with killer options like cauliflower Mac and cheese, shrimp Poboy, and occasionally on the menu (you just have to ask!) a spicy chicken sandwich to rival and exceed Wendy's Spicy Chicken. Seriously, you will be blown away by everything at Kindred!!! My non vegan bf (he's working on it ) loves everything there and always asks to go back as often as possible. Their cocktails, mocktails, and frozen drinks are unparalleled. 10000 stars!!!! Must visit for vegan and non vegans. Located in a cute little section of town on Maple St surrounded by some fun looking bars.

Sooo soooo gooood! I'm a vegetarian, but it's nice to try a fully vegan restaurant now and then. Being able to order ANYTHING off the menu is so rare, that alone was amazing. The server was busy but attentive, and he doubled as the bartender as well. Drinks and food were inspired and delicious, with unique flavor profiles that will keep me coming back. Prices for the location were reasonable, and the ambiance caters to casual and dressy alike. Try it!

This was my second time at Kindred. The staff is always kind and helpful. Today the star of the meal was the Eggplant Balls. It is a fried ball that taste reminiscent of seafood, crab, and so delicious!! We actually ordered another plate of it. The nachos plate had fresh guacamole. The quesadillas were great. My sister enjoyed the shrimp po' boy. We also got the yuca fries, quinoa salad and vegan burger. It was all worth the trip. Special mention: don't visit without trying he Lavender Lemon Fizz!! It's a keeper

This place has a creative and unique menu that turns plants into some of our favorite things here in New Orleans! The Shrimp Po Boy is delicious (and made with mushrooms). I'm also a huge fan of the fried cauliflower! I highly recommend to not only people who enjoy plant-based foods, but anyone looking for a high quality meal in area.

The best vegan po boy I've ever tasted. Couldn't even finish it all, and the cauliflower was still crispy after I reheated it later! My salad was good also and it was A LOT of salad. Well worth the money spent on everything

Ate here with my wife and our friend December 28, and we were treated to great vegan food, great drinks, and great service. Tried many things, and each new item was as delicious as the last. Will definitely return next time I visit the area.

Great location for vegan food if you're out exploring the garden district, but I can't recommend it. The food was okay/good, but the wait was genuinely unbearable- close to an hour for a small party of three when the restaurant wasn't even near full. My vegan partner wasn't that into it either, though we did all scarf the food down like ravenous dogs (the wait might actually be a good business strategy). Near the end when we were trying to leave- in a completely empty restaurant, it took close to 15 minutes to get the attention of the waitress. They also have a minimum gratuity charge of 18% added on with the option to tip more that confused us. If you still have the urge to eat here, I'd recommend the po boy and the side of mac and cheese.

I love the food at Kindred! Where do I start? The Mac n cheese is good by itself, but that doesn't mean you can't enhance it. Get the buffalo cauliflower Mac n cheese. It's so good! Their cheeseburgers and chick's sandwiches are so good. So crisp and flavorful. On top of that, you get it on a Hawaiian bun. Oh, and the Brussel sprouts? Top notch. This is exactly how you cool Brussels. I was a non-believer of Brussel sprouts for years. However, Kindred made me a believer. Come out and enjoy some good food (and daiquiris). I also recommend going in the evening. They dim the lights, making it an awesome vibe.

This is one of the few all vegan restaurants in New Orleans and I definitely had to try it. Came by on a Saturday evening and it was pretty empty. There were 3 girls chilling at the bar. My sisters and I were promptly greeted and seated. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich, the spicy fried chicken sandwich, brussel sprouts, mac'n cheese, fries, carrot cake, and cheesecake. I tried everything except the regular fried chicken sandwich. -spicy chicken sandwich was really good the first couple of bites. Perhaps because I was hungry? It has that beautiful crunch that I love so much. But that really stops there. Because the patty itself on the inside is a bit chewy/bouncy and maybe that's the texture of the seitan and I'm not familiar with it? I also noticed that it lack the spicy in a spicy chicken sandwich. -brussel sprouts were really good. Everyone loved it. It was fried well, light, crunchy, and not oily when you bite in to it. We loved it so much we got another order. -mac'n cheese was good, but just be mindful that you won't get that usual mac'n cheese flavor and it's more nutty. -fries were just plain old fries -carrot cake was moist and dense which is always good in my book. My little sister loved it so that's a plus. -cheesecake tastes just like a real cheesecake to me and it was so good. They won't always have the cakes since the cakes are made by local vegans and dropped off so it changes all the time. Overall I would say give this vegan chicken sandwich a try if you're ok with the chewy texture of the seitan, but that batter is really life though. Maybe they could try frying portobello mushrooms in that batter?

5 starts on the ambience and feel of this place. 5 starts to the shrimp poboys. However with how expensive the food is you would think a side salad would be more than 6 spinach leaves, 2 quarter cut tomatoes, and a cucumber. I ended up adding the salad to the sandwich to make it worth eating. I would give it 3.5 stars.

Really cool plant-based restaurant with great customer service. I ordered a veggie burger with fries and "mac and cheese". The burger was cooked nicely, but there was too much mayo. I had to scrap mayo with the napkin which was super messy. The fries were nice, and although the mac and cheese did not taste like traditional mac and cheese, it was so good. I would go out my way to get this mac and cheese. For my hubby, I took him and "chik'n sandwich", and he loved it. He went on and on about the taste. Like me, he enjoyed the mac and cheese, but agreed that it didn't taste like the real thing. For dessert, I got the lemon cupcake to go. It was so sweet and lemony. My family and I will definitely return especially since we are vegetarian. The only problem was trying to figure out what to eat because there were so many options.

Please keep in mind my review is from a meat eater at a VEGAN restaurant. I came here with my sisters, one of which is a vegan. We shared the brussel sprouts, fries, Mac n cheese, chicken sandwich, and classic burger. Our server was very knowledgable and helpful. The texture of the burger and sandwich is quite chewy, I did not enjoy it. I did enjoy the flavor of the breading on the chicken though. The sprouts were so good, we ordered a second one! The fries were fine, nothing great and definitely not bad. The Mac n cheese tasted like curry pasta. We ended with carrot cake and cheesecake. My sisters loved them. I on the other hand, did not care for either. I do have a huge sweet tooth so I am a bit pickier on dessert. I found the texture of the carrot cake to be too dense. And the cheesecake too heavy with an odd texture.

The mac & cheese is so nasty I almost vomited when I smelled it. I have no idea how you can mess up mac and cheese so bad, but it's heinous I had to throw it away. It also took a long time to come.

Love the mushroom poboy, the slaw is great! Love the Brusselsprouts! They also have mimosas! And the yucca fries are always hot and crispy! Great food and very consistent!

The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the server was amazing, and the restaurant is clean as well. My friend and I have been wanting to try this place since they opened a year ago, but ya know, life and stuff happens, so we just now got to it. We tried the Mac and Cheese, which to me was awful, and had a mustardy taste. She ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and fries, the only good thing about it was the bun. Very chewy, not appetizing . The fries were ok. I ordered a meatball sandwich, which wasn't that hot, and the cheese was not melted on it like I thought it would be. The meatballs were tasty though. Overall a huge disappointment, but we may return to try other items, who knows.

This place deserves more love. My wife and I went there on a Friday night in early December and were the only ones seated. (There were several to-go orders being picked up.) With more customers, it will be a much more cozy and convivial space - but that's up to the customers, not to the nice folks who run Kindred! The service was friendly and attentive, and the surrounding neighborhood has a homey vibe to it - not deserted, not busy. I would suggest expanding the menu a little. Much of their current offerings are deep-fried, which not everyone is going to be in the mood for.

The scenery of the place is VERY nice! Especially during a nice fall day/night. The food was pretty good and the drinks were good as well. The Mac&Cheese by itself has a mustardy taste. The Buffalo cauliflower really helps it out. Not the best vegan Mac&Cheese I've had but it's on the better side. It gives the taste i expected from the place.

We ordered sooooo much to-go & all had a hard time picking a favorite!! We ordered yuca fries, Mac and cauliflower, quesadilla, cauliflower poboy, quinoa salad and coleslaw. I couldn't stop eating so good will def be back! Also, all of the sauces are delicious
