⭐ Review of King Abdulaziz International Airport – Jeddah (KAIA) ⭐ I recently traveled through King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah, and I must say the airport has come a long way in terms of design, efficiency, and traveler comfort. The new terminal is modern, spacious, and beautifully reflects the culture of Saudi Arabia. 🏢 Terminal & Infrastructure: The new terminal is massive and beautifully designed with high ceilings, natural lighting, and wide walking spaces. Everything looks clean and modern, with signs in both Arabic and English to help guide international travelers. The layout is intuitive, and it’s fairly easy to navigate between check-in, immigration, and boarding gates. 📦 Facilities & Services: The airport offers a wide range of facilities, including comfortable seating, charging stations, lounges (like the Alfursan Lounge), prayer rooms, clean washrooms, and duty-free shops. There are also a variety of restaurants and cafés offering local and international cuisines. The presence of automated passport control gates, smart baggage handling, and digital display boards has made the overall experience much smoother. 👮‍♂️ Security & Immigration: Immigration and security staff were professional and organized, though during peak hours the queues can get quite long, especially for economy class passengers. However, the process is generally efficient, and the staff are courteous and helpful. 🛬 Arrivals & Baggage Claim: The arrival area is neat, and the baggage claim is well-managed. Luggage came out in a timely manner. Customs clearance was smooth and not too time-consuming. 🚕 Transportation: Getting to and from the airport is easy, with plenty of taxi options, ride-sharing services, and private car hires available. There is also a train station inside the airport which connects to other major cities in Saudi Arabia, which is a huge plus for domestic travelers. 🕌 Spiritual Touch: One unique feature of Jeddah Airport is its spiritual significance as the gateway for millions of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. There are beautiful Islamic elements in the design, and the airport does a good job handling the seasonal influx of pilgrims. 🔄 Areas for Improvement: While the new terminal is a big upgrade, during peak hours it can still get crowded, especially near immigration and baggage claim. Also, signage for connecting flights and some gate announcements can be improved for better clarity. 📝 Final Thoughts: Overall, King Abdulaziz International Airport is now one of the better airports in the region. With its upgraded facilities, improved services, and cultural elegance, it offers a welcoming experience for both local and international travelers. The busiest airport in Saudi Arabia, with one of the largest terminals in the world. The Terminal 1 or the New Terminal includes new lounges and a central garden. There are several prayer rooms and mobile charging docks (including waterless charging points) near the gates. KAIA serves as the gateway to the holy city Makkah for the pilgrims.

I had a ten hour wait in this airport, but it was clean and safe so I didn't mind too much. There was extensive building work going on which was at times quite noisy. Security was strict but efficient.

The airport is truly lovely. It is quite spacious and has air conditioning throughout. The staff is also very cooperative. Furthermore, the immigration and check-in areas are generously sized, making the process quite smooth.

Beautiful airport. We had a few hours layover. We walked around and tried to find a bookstore. We were not able to find one. We checked out every convenience/food store they had, too. But we could not a book at all. They had prayer rooms separate for men and women in all terminals. The seats were comfortable. There were charger stations throughout the airport. I wish they had outlets closed to the seats, but I could not find any.

This airport isn’t just a transit hub—it’s a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to excellence and generosity. I left feeling not only impressed but deeply appreciative. Highly recommended to anyone traveling through the region!

Beautiful efficient airport, there is even a giant aquarium in the domestic terminal and fast speed train. Took me 20 mins from drop off to the gate w no luggage drop off. I didn’t see duty free shops in the international departure.A fine and modern airport that serves the Western part of Saudi Arabia.The airport has been revamped, making it modern and well-served.Luggage control, immigration, and security are easy and well-organised. After immigration and security, one can head to the gates either walking or through a train service. The airport looks from outside & inside is very nice & clear. Visited Date : 25th Feb 2025 & 5th April 2025.

One of the best airports i have seen so far. It was neat and clean. There were lots of helpful people for the passengers flying in and out. If anyone got stuck they willingly helped. They have the new system up to where you only have to scan your passport and go through the gates. A security guys helps and guides the passengers how to do it and redo it if they get stuck or not do it properly. Bathroom is also clean. There is a cleaning personnel there who is constantly wiping and mopping. She also helps wheelchair friends and push them to the stalls. Airport has all the necessary food stored which are operating around the clock. In one word amazing airport service.
