I used Eat24 for the first time to order up some Thai relatively close to home. This location didn't offer delivery so I did carry out.
I ordered the chicken larb ($10), in the comments section I wrote "medium spicy" and a Thai iced tea ($3.75). Okay, $3.75 is the most expensive Thai iced tea I've ever seen. It wasn't *that* good, to be that expensive. It was a 16oz to go cup with a lot of ice (I did see you could order it without ice on the menu). Larb is a good barometer for a Thai place, I think. Pad thai is pretty hard to mess up but larb can definitely be better at some places and worse at others. If you've never had it, larb is a ground meat salad with chili, lime and lettuce slices. You kinda make your own little soothing lettuce wraps or lettuce boats stuffed with spicy, tangy cool meat. It also keeps well overnight for leftovers, so you can stretch it to two meals.
The Eat24 estimate was 6:26 for pickup and when I showed up at 6:20, they weren't ready yet, so I would say the estimate is pretty accurate. The place was moderately busy and there was another to-go order in front of me.
When I got my food home, I was surprised at how spicy medium spicy was. I like spicy, I think Tim's Jalapeno are mild and Flamin' Hot Cheetos are medium. This had some limey tangy kick to it! I liked the spice, and at home I put on probably a 1/4 tsp of chili paste (like the small bottle of sriracha) and maybe 1/2-1tsp sriracha. The lettuce (cabbage?) boats were crisp and fresh, I enjoyed that a lot.
I ate about half, leaving half for leftovers and felt satisfied. I felt $15 with a tip was pretty expensive for one dinner in a strip mall but if you think of it as two meals, it feels better, to me at least.
I took a carry out menu to keep on my fridge, so I liked it enough to eat it again. I'm not sure I'd use Eat24 again, I don't really see any benefit over picking up the phone. If King Curry offered Yelp cash back, I'd use that, but there's no gain to using Eat24 here.
The place is pretty small, maybe 10 tables and 5-6 bar spots with 1-2 tables outside. It can feel at max capacity even when it's only half full. I'm glad I got it to go! I saw someone had a thai iced tea in like an ice cream sundae cup, so I think my to go Thai IT was larger than the in house one but maybe the cups are the same size.
