Every time I come to this restaurant, I am amazed all over again. The donuts are always so fresh and so flavorful. Some places around town you can tell that their recipe is off or that the donuts are a few days old, there is a distinctive difference with this place. You can tell that everything is fresh and made with quality. This is the only place in Louisville that I know has kolaches, so I will go out of the way for that. Their apple fritter, old-fashioned, and glazed donuts are my top faves. The blueberry is very good as well.

Google
We stopped here this morning on our way out of Louisville. The donuts were fresh. Some were still warm. The shop also sells breakfast sandwiches and has a large selection of drinks.

Absolutely exceptional in every way! Donuts are packed with flavor, great variety, prices are cheap And the staff are wonderful. The apple fritters and bear-claw were full of apples, the iced coffee was awesome and bagel or croissant sandwiches were fresh and tasty. Check it out!

I go to school across the road from here, and go in lots before school. They remember my order Everytime, and that shows they remember and care about their customers. Even though I'm graduating and won't be going to school every morning, I'll still frequently stop by and grab a bite. Doughnut holes are amazing as well as the others they have.

Google
Enjoyed variety of donuts. What i missed was the cream filled ones.. they have super sweet cream as fillers but not those gelly like creams that are not that sweet. If only they had options for less sugar...other that regular donut with no crust... id give them 5

Google
Friendship ended with Nord's Donuts, now King Donuts is my bestfriend Legitimately my favorite donuts ever, both yeast AND cake (and I normally hate cake donuts), and the lady at the front that greets me is such a sweet person. Will be back as often as my budget allows!

Google
This is our family's go-to for donuts and breakfast sandwiches. Definitely give the bacon egg and cheese croissants a go. Consistently quick and friendly service completes the experience.

Google
BESTEST donuts 🍩😋 I've had this year. Long line means they were good! And they were!

Yelp
This is a fantastic local spot for some great donuts! I stopped in recently while in Louisville and wanting to grab donuts to share with friends. It's located in the old home of Donut Kastle, and offers everything from no-frills to fancy donuts at very reasonable prices. Service was fast and friendly, and the place appears to be family owned. Definitely a great spot to add to the local Rolodex!

Yelp
Some of the best doughnuts you'll find! Amazing selection, clean ambiance, very friendly owners! Highly recommend the traditional glazed doughnuts and glazed crescent!

Yelp
There was a little line when we got there but it moved quickly. The donuts are so light and not overly sweet. I can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
I love this little donut shop that's close to our house. It is very small, but they have a lot of choices for donuts and have amazing breakfast sandwiches. I tried the bacon, egg and croissant. I think I suggested it within two seconds. It was so good. The donuts can be a little messy as they put them in bags so they stick a lot, so but they're still nice and very light. Don't sleep on the donut holes. You can get a bag for a few bucks and share with all.

Yelp
King Donuts is my favorite old school donut spot. They have the best apple fritters that remind me of my uncle's and delicious glazed croissants!

Yelp
I wanted to find a good local donut shop and this is it. It's small and has a hole in the wall charm to it. We got a half dozen (2 glazed, 2 chocolate long johns, a strawberry sprinkle, and a jelly). These donuts are melt in your mouth good. And you can taste how freshly made they are, most likely that morning. While I have seen bigger donut displays at other places, they have a wide variety of all different kinds (I spotted danish and croissants as well) This is also a good spot to pick up a breakfast sandwich to go. There are only like 4 tables in the whole place so this is more of a to go place. I love a good bacon, egg, and cheese bagel, and there's was very good. The bacon is perfectly cooked. I hate when bacon isn't cooked enough. And this bacon was perfectly crisp and they put on a generous portion. The cashier was efficient and friendly and we didn't even have to wait 5 minutes for our sandwiches. This will be a go to for a bacon, egg, and cheese and if I'm craving donuts

Yelp
I went to the location in J-town earlier today for the first time. The cake donut that I got covered with sprinkles in fall colors was exceptional. It was fresh and delicious, one of the best donuts I have ever had. The worker was friendly, polite, and interesting, and answered all my questions. I look forward to going back and taking my family from out of town hopefully.

Yelp
This place was okay, not my favorite or least favorite. Their donuts were good and they had a decent selection. Their coffee was okay. The service was good and the place itself is fine. Nothing major to say because it wasn't super impressionable but it definitely wasn't bad either.

Yelp
This is one of the very few places I can find Kolaches! I drive out of my way to work to get them. The donut holes are always my favorite. They're very light and airy. The cheese danish never ceases to amaze either. Wonderful service and kind people. Thankful for this place!

Yelp
Great tasting dounuts...you won't find a better tasting apple fritter around Louisville. The prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
Dropped in about 230p on Christmas Eve Eve. They still had plenty donuts if you were not picky. I got an assortment of glazed and cake with a couple filled that they still had. The total for that dozen was less than $10. That seemed very reasonable as Krispy Kreme has taken quite a jump in price. And the taste...just like old days of fresh, delicious yeast donuts. The girl was super helpful, patient, and polite as I gathered the 12. This business is adding another location on Taylorsville Road, in Jeffersontown, by the bowling alley, taking the place of the Krispy Kreme. Although they had hoped to open by now, their reno contractors are not done. So may be end of January. They are anxious to get in and open, as much as we are!! King Donuts will be a welcomed addition to the community. Not sure if drive thru will continue, but enjoy the experience of picking ur choices, as there are sooooo many choices. King also has lunch items at Lyndon. We will wait to see our offerings!!

Yelp
I've been hearing about this place for a while now. I feel like our city needs more donut shops and for some reason, we don't have a ton of options. Most are just bakeries that happen to also sell donuts. I came here after voting Tuesday morning. It was close to 8:30. There were a few others in here. They were either grabbing donuts to-go or breakfast sandwiches. I got half a dozen donuts to share with friends. We got an apple fritter, a sour cream donut, coconut, fruity flakes, blueberry, and one with sprinkles and icing. They tasted good. Nothing special about them. The price point was good though! The 6 donuts were just a little above $5 total. They've also got Thai iced coffee. Very cool! They've got a few tables in here if you want to sit down. Staff was quick and helpful. The parking lot is weird. There are a few spots in the front, then you have to drive all the way around or make a weird, sharp turn to get out.

Yelp
I went to King Donuts for the first time this Sunday around 8:30am. There were about five people in line in front of me but no shortage of donuts! I ordered cream filled long johns, chocolate sprinkled, and an old fashioned donut. My favorite would have to have been the old fashioned. It was nice and crispy outside, very soft inside, and full of flavor. All of the other donuts were very soft and delicious. I'd definitely come back again!
google avatar

Jase C.

Yelp
Amazing donuts and locally owned. My favorite is their glazed croissants and they have great long johns also! Pricing is about average of what you'd expect. About $13-15 for a dozen.

Yelp
A morning that includes doughnuts is a guilty pleasure and I felt like the family needed to expand beyond the shop we typically visit. Checking my collection of doughnuts, I noticed King Donuts was a short drive. There's not much to the building. It's connected to another business and has a few spots to park. Inside is compact and a bit too cluttered with boxes and drink fridges to make me want to sit at the couple of tables inside. Immediately upon walking in we decided to take our doughnuts to go and grab coffee elsewhere. The menu actually expands beyond doughnuts. They have breakfast and bagel sandwiches. My favorite surprise was the Thai tea! We got a dozen of doughnuts. It was closer to 11 am and some rows were empty but they were working to bring more out. On the advice of Yelpers I got a blueberry cake and was not disappointed - crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. The glazed doughnut was fluffy and enjoyable and a sample of the apple fritter was super sweet. Most interesting was the long john. They were so light and fluffy. You can taste the butter. I wish they had more chocolate on top to even out the flavors. I was impressed but I wanted more, and I heard the same from my kids ("too much dough"). I'm definitely interested to go back and try more options - plus the Thai tea is a crave.

Yelp
If you're ever looking for some REALLY good neighborhood donuts, Kings donuts is just plain good. No complexity to it, no pretentiousness, just a good donut. It doesnt have the whistle and bells, but donuts dont need that. Thd blueberry cake donut is really good and the apple fritter is large but crispy and yummy. Shop local. Support this small business!! Have been back now for the 3rd time. Yum.

Yelp
I'm so glad I finally found a solid local donut place nearby. I've been to a good amount of donut places during the pandemic (maybe not something to brag about), but King Donuts by FAR had the widest selection, even in the late morning on a weekend (when I would expect a pretty weak selection). They also had a drink area with a ton of options. The donuts are big and fluffy! All the flavors I tried were great (glazed, cinnamon, chocolate iced glazed, and chocolate cake) but my favorite by far was the chocolate iced glazed. I also tried the pig in a blanket, but it wasn't my cup of tea. Maybe I was wrong to expect something similar to the Jimmy Dean pancake and sausage on a stick...But FYI it tastes nothing like that. Employees are wearing masks and social distancing is enforced. The prices were super reasonable! I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Delicious yeast (not cake ) donuts. Best Donuts near Masonic Home. Very popular and the parking lot was crowded for an early morning donut run.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a sucker for a good, fresh donut. I was here on a Saturday morning and the donuts were fresh and there was still a great selection. The lady waiting on me was very pleasant and professional. Service was quick and the donuts exceeded my expectations. Great donut. I'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
So friendly and the price is great. They remember you if you keep going and are very accommodating. Glad to be supporting this local business! A suggestion would be their glazed croissants. Sometimes, they are out before noon so getting there early is the best way to ensure you get one!
google avatar

Jessi H.

Yelp
Found this small shop when I moved to the Lyndon area. What sets them apart is that they make fresh donuts ALL day. So whether you come at 7am or 2pm, you will still get fresh donuts. Highly recommend their breakfast sandwich on a crescent roll. Prices are extremely reasonable. And staff are always welcoming. Highly recommend this shop!
google avatar

Chloe W.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for donuts! Everything is super fresh and absolutely delicious. I love all the cake donuts and the apple fritters are extremely good. Breakfast sandwiches are tasty too. This place is definitely a hole in the wall, but so worth it. Really yummy, quick and friendly service, and cheap donuts.
google avatar

Zach D.

Yelp
Awesome selection. They have Sausage Kolaches. Smoothies, cinnamon rolls, Fritters. Will be back. Need to try other stuff.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Apple fritters in town. Super friendly. Coffee available and tables if you can't wait

Yelp
I love this donut shop. We were craving something sweet for breakfast, but also somewhere super close by, and luckily King Donuts has both of these qualities. What I love most is that they have a lot more to offer than your typical donut shop. Along with regular donuts, they also have apple fritters and a variety of other sweet treats to choose from. On their menu they also have sausage and egg biscuits, or even different kinds of smoothies. Everything is very cheap too so you can get a good deal for pretty much anything here!

Yelp
What to get: blueberry donuts Time ordered: 0 mins (Thursday 3:15PM) Time food arrived: 0 mins Ambiance: small donut shop Parking: few spaces in front ~~Location~~ Rarely am I on this side of town, especially in the morning, so for a donut shop to be open in the later afternoon: Yay! King Donuts is close by the busy intersection of La Grange Rd and Lyndon Ln. Every time I stop by a business on that side, Lyndon is always packed with cars lined up towards La Grange. If people are nice, they'll either let you in or cross, but damn...leaving is an adventure in itself. The place has a few spots out front of the shop and the inside is a typical layout of a little donut shop. Clean and basic. The main attraction is the donuts anyway, so let's get down to business. ~~Food~~ I'm going to bet that they have kickass flavors earlier in the day (morning) before they sell out for the afternoon. I count myself lucky to even have a selection by 3PM. Donuts are cheap, so a half dozen is barely $5. I spoiled my dinner and had one of the blueberry donuts beforehand. LOVED IT. I love that little bit of 'crisp'ness to a donut and the cake had a good density to it. The old-fashions and the other ones that I don't remember the names of were decent. I think my taste in food has changed because the OFs were a tad overpowering in sweetness. The others that don't have a name for me were extra flaky. A nice breakfast pastry, but quite messy if you're not prepared. ==Notes for next time== -Go in the morning for more selection

Yelp
Came to King Donuts after an all nighter at the hospital awaiting the birth of our first granddaughter. The powdered jelly donut was the freshest and tastiest donut I ever had. The glazed croissant was also just unbelievable. The glazed sour cream donut was somewhat oil soaked - I am giving them a bye on this since everything else was the best. My wife ordered several egg bagels and they were also outstanding.
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Solid donuts, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. The filled donuts had a good amount of filling and the bars/iced donuts were light and fluffy. When it comes to taste, I still give the advantage to Nord's, but this is still a great spot for good donuts. Nord's is about an hour ordeal between driving and standing in line (still worth it, IMO) but I was out the door and back to my house in 10 minutes with King Donuts. When I'm looking for a quick donut fix at a good value, I'm glad to have King Donuts in the neighborhood!

Yelp
I stop here to take the girls I work with a little treat and they just love these donuts..

Yelp
Love this place, amazing service and smiling staff, great food and an awesome variety of delicious heavenly doughnuts

Yelp
Love love love! Found this place after hitting up To Go Sushi, sweets and sushi all within 50 feet. Had the softest and most fluffy maple bar ever. They have fresh juice, breakfast items, coffee, etc. Also found what I call "Asian Pigs in a Blanket," I grew up eating these so this was a pleasant surprise.
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
What many people don't realize about this place is they don't only sell donuts. You can also get the best breakfast sandwiches in Lyndon here and spend less than you would at a McDonald's. I got a fresh made and delicious bacon and egg croissant for about $3 and it was huge. This place is so tasty, underrated, and reasonably priced that I honestly hate to write about it rather than keep it all to myself. You will find donuts that are just as delicious as they are fun (like fruity pebbles donuts) but plenty of traditional options as well, which is my preference.
google avatar

James T.

Yelp
Yum! In a competitive market, king donut is Louisville fried sugar royalty. Set in an unassuming building in Lyndon, you'll find some excellent donuts. There is lots of variety in donuts, and a nice selection of bottled sodas. Obviously a nice breakfast place, but store hours and soda options make an afternoon snack also a great option. The worst thing about King Donut is they sell out of old fashion donuts so quickly. This is likely because they are among the best in town. Value is tremendous -- 75 cents a donut. That's way cheaper than most high end bakeries (I've embarrassingly paid $5 in Boston) and even beats the subpar gas station's $1 donut across the street. Fantastic donut find hidden in Lyndon. Come early to get the best selection.
google avatar

Bryant P.

Yelp
My family and I stopped by on our way home and were pleasantly surprised with this shop. The breakfast sandwiches were freshly prepared and very good. We got doughnuts to go and they were fresh and high quality. Staff was very friendly and courteous to all patrons. I highly recommend this shop!!!!

Yelp
When I first moved to Louisville a few months ago, this was the first donut shop I stopped at. This was a time when I thought Krispy Kreme had good donuts, man was I wrong. Anyway, out of the four places I have tried so far this is definitely tied for first. I loved the selection and the consistency when it came to the quality of each donut in terms of taste and texture. For some reason, their plain strawberry donut was my favorite. The strawberry icing (glaze?) that went over it was delicious and the donut itself was soft and fluffy without being too airy...a bite with substance. Well made, and well cooked. King Donuts is a few notches above Nord's Bakery and Sugar & Spice Donuts in my opinion.

Mary C.

Yelp
Best donuts I have ever had. So fresh & delicious. Apple Fritters are wonderful, grazed croissant & cream filled donut are delicious
google avatar

Yelp
This place has really great breakfast sandwiches at a great price. They also serve glazed croissants which I have never seen anywhere else. They are to die for! Do yourself a favor and get a glazed croissant and a breakfast Sammy from King Donuts.

Yelp
This is a new place I need to frequent more often as I had a great experience with these donuts. This place was open on Easter, so I decided to grab a few donuts for tasting and see how they were. I grabbed an old fashion donut, a custard filled chocolate glazed long john, and blueberry cake, and a chocolate chip chocolate glazed donut. The blueberry cake was warm, moist, and soft. The custard filled long john had a good amount of custard filled inside of it, alongside a small dollop of custard on the top, showing what kind of donut it was. The chocolate chip chocolate glazed donut was a surprise in that the middle of the donut had a surprise thin later of, what tasted like, melted chocolate chips, which was a pleasant surprise. Also, taking a bite of the old fashioned donut, I was shocked that it tasted exactly like a Danish Butter Cookie (or what I call, the blue tin cookies). That donut was quickly devoured. I am instantly drawn to coming back here again and seeing what other surprises the other donuts might have for me!

Mel S.

Yelp
Great donuts at a great price. I loved the apple fritters. Nice treat when you're needing a sugar boost.
google avatar

Cherise M.

Yelp
I was really impressed with my quick trip to King Donuts! They had a huge selection of fresh donuts that were reasonably priced. The service was quick and friendly. I was almost stumped as to what donut to try so I bought 5 to share with others. I ended up with a lemon filled, blueberry cake, red velvet cake, chocolate twist, and maple long-john. I thought that it would be creme or custard filled. I was kinda disappointed when I got to my destination and it wasn't filled at all. I guess they add filling at request but I didn't know that. Oh well! Next time. That donut was still warm. I could tell everything was made that very morning. Delicious stuff!

Sheila T.

Yelp
I love this little donut shop. Right close to me, you can get donuts, breakfast sandwiches, hot coffee, hot tea. In and out in no time.
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
I am a donut super fan, and King Donuts is so amazing! The apple fritter has the most unbelievably perfect taste, soft apple with just the right amount of cinnamon. Everything was so soft and fresh. Did I mention that the filled donuts were jam packed with filling and not just a bit or two like some other donut shops. king Donut gives more flavor than sugar, so they are not overly sweet. I just can't say enough great things about this place. Do yourself a favor and get the orange fruity pebbles donut...you are welcome.
google avatar

Kaitlyn O.

Yelp
Where to start? My husband and I moved to the Lyndon/Holiday Manor area 3 years ago. We've driven by King Donuts hundreds of times probably and just never actually stopped. Well we finally did two weeks ago, and were blown away. First off, there's a very large selection of donuts. Glazed, chocolate, strawberry, cake donuts, long johns, cream filled, custard filled, fruit filled, sugar dusted, cinnamon dusted, bear claws, apple fritters, donut holes, it goes on and on. They also have several breakfast sandwiches that seem to be popular (almost everyone else in line was ordering one along with donuts). Parking lot is a little weird but your in and out pretty quick so it's doable.

Ida L.

Yelp
Came all the way from Western Virginia for the Louisville Slugger Museum and to pick up some Ale 81. Discovered King Doughnuts on this trip and added to another reason to come back to Louisville. Fresh doughnuts at a price so decent you will feel like you're stealing them. Louisville area I hope you know how lucky you are to have Ale 81 and this doughnut place!!!
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
This small donut shop packs some good flavor and has a mix of the classics along with a few more unique types...like the strawberry donut, peanut butter with chocolate, and cereal-topped donuts. Prices are competitive and the staff are always nice, albeit sometimes hard to understand. There are a couple of tiny tables but eating here would be awkward. They are open "late" for a small donut shop, meaning you might be able to stop in after work for a treat before they close. Try the strawberry...its surprisingly sweet and tart!
google avatar

Joseph D.

Yelp
Usually I support my local business that are in my neighborhood. Today I specifically skipped the other doughnut place for this local gem. Unfortunately today's selection of pastries were not fit for a king.

Susan H.

Yelp
Nice selection of donuts and pastries. The cream filled eclairs were fresh and delish.
google avatar

Alicia B.

Yelp
Donuts, danishes, sandwich's oh my! Located in Lyndon area this family owned donut shop is delish! With a great selection of fresh made donuts along with a menu of breakfast sandwiches and epic large danish. This place is a must stop if you are a donut lover like myself.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Great no-frills neighborhood donut shop with plenty of options. You can order bagel and croissant sandwiches too, which are yummy. And they have a fridge case for your standard milk, chocolate milk, and juice options. Coffee exists but doesn't look great. Very little seating (3 tiny tables), so it's more a grab-and-go place. Stays open into the afternoon. If you're in Lyndon and want donuts, go here!
