Where to Find Next-Level Hummus in Portland | Eater Portland

"Nothing says Portland like a hummus drive-through. Started in 1976 as a hippie grocery store, King Harvest roasts all of its garbanzo beans in-house, blending them into a thick paste with a bit of lemon juice, olive oil, spices, and simple ingredients you can actually pronounce. Its menu boasts an overwhelming selection of flavors, from jalapeño hummus to toasted sesame. Ten-ounce tubs of King Harvest hummus can be found at the drive-through open on weekdays, or local grocery stores like Fred Meyer or New Seasons Market." - Michelle DeVona

I understand needing to move to a larger facility but King Harvest's decision to ditch the drive-through is a slap in the face to loyal customers. I used to stop by weekly for $2.50 half-priced hummus on Wednesdays. Now the only option is paying $6+ at the grocery store. Their hummus is fantastic, but not worth getting ripped off in the name of corporate greed. I'll be making my own from now on. Congrats on going the sleazy corporate route, King Harvest. What a disappointment. Does anyone else remember when food/life in general was affordable? Maybe Luigi was right.

Their Hummus is delicious and a Portland staple for decades. Their drive thru has also been a tradition for me and my family. Sadly, I went today and saw a sign posted that they've permenently closed the drive thru. Is this because they got bought out? Who knows, but I'll miss their breakfast burritos and half off Hummus on Wednesdays.

Although a good hummus I find it weird for this price to not make it organic and to use canola oil and make a good thing bad

Just met Travis at Fred Meyer’s in Bellingham WA. He was a wonderful advocate for this special Hummus! I ended up purchasing the black olive and another container of the balsamic. Both are thick and very flavorful! I highly recommend this company and look forward to trying the other multiple flavors!

This is one of the Saddest days of my life, the Drive Thru is closed, without proper notice, just like that Hummus day is gone. I will miss the customer service this place had, it was the only reason I would come to Portland was to get my Hummus every Wednesday. Now with a heavy heart I must say goodbye to the best Hummus I have eating since the early days at Organics to you, when we would have Hummus for breakfast. Just like the Daily Grind on Hawthorne, Portland Dies a little everyday. #Sadface

The flavor is amazing but the hummus is thick and gritty. Will not buy again.

The hummus is amazing; however, I have some feedback regarding the facility. King Harvest was recently acquired by Pacific Coast Fruit Co. Given this change in ownership, it would be reasonable to expect some improvements to the premises. Currently, the surrounding area is untidy with noticeable debris, and the building appears to be in disrepair. Investing in enhancements such as a fresh coat of paint and fence repairs could significantly uplift the site's appearance. Implementing these changes would not only improve the business but also enhance the broader community, benefiting both the city and the neighborhood.

I moved in 2019 from SE Portland to the Couv. In addition to mourning the lack of sales tax, I also had to mourn picking up King Harvest Hummus from my local grocery store. Flash forward to this week at my local Safeway: I’m searching for cojita cheese when I stumble across a fresh supply of King Harvest Hummus!! I immediately grabbed four and will be returning for me on the regular. Thanks for crossing the river for me :)
