King Jefe Taco and Sushi Bar

What a neat place! They have the best of both worlds: Sushi and tacos! They have an extensive menu with all sorts of tacos and sushi to choose from plus a few other things. The atmosphere is chill and artsy. The staff was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend the BlackBerry Jalapeno Margarita.

AMAZING!!!! My husband and I decided we will travel through Florence just so we can eat here!!! We did three tacos each so we could share and try more of the flavors. Everything was absolutely delicious. And the vibe was super fun. Our server, Liz, was top-notch. My hubs even left with a shirt. Huge fans. Highly recommend!!!

I've spent about a week eating around downtown Florence. Hands down, this was the best experience. The staff was the absolute best, everyone was extremely helpful and happy. No one ever had to wave down someone to help. Second, the food was amazing. The tacos are top tier, and the sushi rivals some of the best I've had all over North America. If you're on the fence about trying this place, just do it. I guarantee you won't regret it.

Sushi is so AMAZING! We rode our bikes here from the new trail head. The girl that worked the bar was our waitress and she was AWESOME and very helpful with the menu. There was a lot to choose from. Can’t wait to go back 😊😋

If you're ever looking for a hole in the wall in Florence this is the place. It has it's own unique aesthetic in both decor and its food. The tacos all were unique and they were definitely tasty and they don't play on your portions either I still have food leftover from lunch and I've eaten quite a bit from dinner. Tacos are not the only thing they have because sushi is also on the menu although I came in when the chef was on break so can't really complain about that. But the service was amazing the waitress we had was very well mannered and was very attentive she knew when I needed a refill and literally got us to go cups before we could even ask her. Again if you want to be amazed by this place just come and try it out. Update I finally got the sushi and boy it was amazing. I've got to say that it's definitely an amazing restaurant to go to and vibe to.

Not just sushi and tacos: the best sushi and tacos in Florence, combined with incredible staff and wonderful regulars. Shout out to Sarah, the bestest bartender. I've never had a bad dish here, and when I witnessed someone unhappy with their meal, the staff was very happy to make it right. Personal recommendation, you can't go wrong with the Al Pastor Bob tacos, or any of the poke bowls. That mac and chorizo is stellar too.

My boyfriend and I just came here for a late lunch. It was our first time trying this place. It was absolutely amazing! Even tho we rushed on picking out our sushi but we also didn’t know they stop serving it by 2pm. But all around it was amazing! It’s definitely a place in our books to come back! 10/10 recommended

Had to try King Jefe Taco Bar in Florence, and it was definitely worth it! They offer a lot of unique twists on traditional Mexican food, and I was pleasantly surprised by their great selection of sushi as well. The fusion of flavors was really interesting and tasty. If you're looking for something different but delicious, this spot is definitely a must-try

The food was amazing. Aesthetically appealing, hot, and fast. The service was a pleasant surprise from the host to the server and even Other server servers bypassing. The restaurant was clean and had an interesting vibe that was fun and interesting. 10/10 I recommend and I don't say that often

The food here was quite sad, to be called a taco bar. You expect actual good tacos, especially for a 10$ for 2. The service was good and speedy, and so were the drinks. Could be because there were only 5 other guests. Don't forget they serve sushi, can't imagine what that tastes like. Save your money and invest in penny stocks the outcome would be the same, a waste of time.

Best sushi around. Easy to walk to from my office downtown. Parking can be an issue at lunch.

Another nice spot in downtown Florence. Came here for lunch per recommendation and was able to just beat the lunch crowd. I was a bit skeptical of the combination of sushi and tacos but I felt like after eating there it wasn't too bad. Overall, the experience was good. The server was very kind and food came out quickly. Food quality was good. There were some pretty creative menu options when it came to the tacos. For the future, I would suggest either going for the tacos or sushi, but both isn't really necessary.

I stopped in from Oregon. Qaunt little place with a full bar. Mexican food with Sushi, which should be something for everybody depending on your eating mood. I opted for the chimichanga. It came out fast, and as ordered. Nice large portion. Tasty flavor's!! I like spice, not spicy enough but not a complaint! It's South Carolina after all!. That is why a would only recommend that they blend up their spicy fresh sauce instead of the normal choices out of a bottle. But it's more me on the spicy option, then them! Recommended! All 5 stars given

While travelling north to Pennsylvania, I stopped here for dinner. Place is small. As a single, I sat at the bar. It is a full bar. When you sit at the bar, service is fast. Looking at the menu, of course I was looking for the hottest tacos - I found the Billy Ray. They were okay. Strange. All I got was chicken and a couple of pickles. No lettuce or any fixens. Maybe I was supposed to ask for them. Saw a shirt on the wall for sale. Almost bought one, but decided to pass.

What a great gem hiding in the middle of downtown Florence! This place is absolutely perfect. The vibe is fun (the music choice is great) with its brick walls and and colorful artwork. We were pleasantly surprised to see that there was a rather robust sushi menu alongside a ridiculously long list of tacos. We came with tacos on the brain, so we all got the three taco combo. When we ordered the chorizo Mac to go along with it, we weren't anticipating the serving to be so large! The tacos themselves were delicious; even the ones that had "crazier" combinations still worked well together. We finished off with some Bavarian crème churros, and they were delicious. Service was great. Our server took good care of us and kept our drinks filled. Her recommendations were great, too. Highly recommend this place!

Wow! My husband and I were passing through during dinner time and I always try to find a local place to visit. We throughly enjoyed the experience. I would have never paired tacos and sushi but had to try both. Everything was so tasty and I have a feeling I'm going to crave that sunshine roll! The service and atmosphere were equally as enjoyable.

This was a very neat find! It's on a random corner downtown Florence and you go inside to such a fun and hoppin spot. Our server Chris was amazing, very attentive and serious. The food was really good and I've never seen a sushi and Mexican spot which makes a bunch of crowds pleased!

There is potential here, but a few tweaks are needed. First of all, the atmosphere was fun and inviting. The service was quite good also. So the experience started on a positive note. However, when it came to the food ... the tacos had good flavor, but they built them using single corn tortillas. Unfortunately, the tacos could not hold up the ingredients and they started to fall apart. I strongly suggest doubling up.

Great food and great service! Shout out to Nick for being super helpful with the menu and kinda giving me the scoop. He told me sushi is a really popular item in this mex restaurant because no one else in the area compares to their sushi. And to be honest it wasn't bad. My only complaint with the sushi is it wasn't rolled tight enough. I rather it be longer and slender than thick and short. Makes it easier to hold with chopsticks. Now the tacoooos OMG! I love the flavor combos, like this beats Tacoboy in Charleston! Asian flair on a taco.... TOTALLY BLEW MY MIND! Tasted like Vietnam but as a shrimp taco. So I know next time I'm in town, I know where I'd like to go. I would love if the eventually added some outdoor seating. That would be another great bonus to this restaurant.

My wife and I lived in Arizona for 20 years. Besides being very close to the Mexican border where we ate the real food in Mexico and also most of the Mexican restaurants in Arizona are authentic because they are owned and run by Mexican owners. We went to King Jefe during the Pecan Festival a couple of years ago. There was nothing authentic about their food, and they were very expensive. If you're going to charge high prices, the least you can do is serve authentic food. Not your interpretation of it.

This is one of my very favorite places to eat in Florence. Start with the trio of dips. The queso can't be missed and the pineapple salsa sounds weird, but is delicious. For lunch/dinner, the tacos are delicious, and small enough that you should get 2-3 so the added bonus is you get to taste a couple of different ones each time. The margaritas are also AWESOME, but notable that 2 should be your limit as they're poured pretty strong. :) Since the last time I was here, they've added the sushi bar. On today's visit, I tried the seafood ceviche and the crunch sushi roll. Ya'll. The sushi is as good as the tacos and I think I'll have a hard decision on my next time which way to go!

Small space with big taste. Tacos were excellent drinks were top notch. Atmosphere inside is more hipster oriented, but overall it's about the food which is 5 star worthy.

It was Taco Tuesday, so we set out in search of a Mexican restaurant on our way home from the beach. What we found was a strange fusion indeed, Mexican and Japanese. Yes, a taco-sushi joint in Florence called King Jefe Taco Bar. As the sign says it's a taco bar, but they might want to tweak that. As I write this I still have some regrets. Regret that we did not pay more attention to the sushi menu. Like I said, it was Tuesday, and this is a taco bar! There are some great sushi selections, as well as poke bowls. And as we snuck glances at the packed tables around us, the sushi dishes looked terrific, scratch made, large rolls, and lots of them. Back to the tacos, there is a great selection of tacos with clever names, such as, Uncle Terry, The Chong, Billy Ray, Gringo, etc. You are given the choice between a flour tortilla or the corn. I sometimes make my own tortillas out of maseca, and to me that's the more authentic choice, so corn it was. For which tacos, I settled on the Al Pastor, and the Dae Han. The Dae Han was topped with beef, Kimchi, Gochujang Mayo, green onions, and the Al Pastor featured pork, slaw, and a topping of pineapple salsa (which as I was to find out, proved problematic). The beef in the Dae Han was a bit dry, and while the pork in the Al Pastor was tender and moist, the taco got soggy and fell apart half way through consumption. The salsa was just to wet. And these tacos are small, like street tacos. Prices are okay, but nothing notable. For example, three small tacos and a side for $15 is not a great deal. Did I mention my side--awesome chorizo mac n cheese. It's a winner! My wife opted for a burger and a street corn. The burger was so so, and while she enjoyed the corn, it was nothing extra. Will we be back? Maybe, if we find ourselves in Florence again, but will be better shoppers; we'll check out that sushi menu for sure. My recommendation for the King is step it up on taco side of the house by making your own tacos.

There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in Florence and this one doesn't stand out as one of the best. It's just average. First visit the waitress was pretty pushy, actually telling us what not to order and what to get instead. Off-putting to say the least! Advice on the menu is welcome WHEN ASKED! With so many other options in Florence, I'd skip this one.

Husband and I were looking for sushi and this place was recommended by a local. This is Americanized sushi (my favorite kind). We shared 3 rolls, the Sunshine, Cowboy and Bang Bang. We loved them all. The Cowboy had a thin slice of beef on top which I have never seen done and it was great. Service was very fast and friendly. It's kind of a hole in the wall, combo taco and sushi place which sounds weird but definitely works for groups who can't agree on where to go. They also serve poke bowls. We went at 5:15 pm and it was already busy. Can't comment on the tacos as we only got sushi. I would absolutely come here again. My only (very minor) negative was my seat wasn't real comfortable but I soon forgot about it stuffing my face with the excellent sushi.

Our little family stopped in King Jefe's on the way back from the beach. Food was good. Had a fun atmosphere with unique decor and wall art. I got a Breakfast Jefe de Jefe and it was tasty. Good service, food could have been hotter, but was good overall. Would recommend!

I stopped in here for dinner after a kk g day of traveling and I must say it's a pretty cool taco bar. Based off of how busy they got at 5pm you can tell there's not very many restaurants like it! We were greeted and sat promptly. I ordered a steak quesadilla and street corn (note: everything is a la carte in the menu ) i would rate these at 2 star. There was no thrill factor to this meal at all. I probably could have made a better one at home. The street corn wasn't very good either. It's as if the flavors weren't meshing...(foodies will understand). The person I was with ordered a chimichanga and said they enjoyed it so I think I just chose a made pick (even though the waiter suggested it) Ok ok so I know what you're thinking... what DID I enjoy. . . THE SUSHI (the only reason I gave them a 3) It was so good I didn't snap a pic. We got the spider roll last min because we noticed the place getting packed and EVERYONE ordering sushi. I think it's safe to say more people frequent this spot for the drinks and sushi. Keep in mind sushi doesn't start until 5pm! I would love to give this place another chance (just for sushi) so I can get a different experience but we were just passing through. If you are in the area I would visit if you enjoy sushi and tequila

First time here. Waitress asked if we wanted chips n salsa n we all said yes! I Ordered a Taco Salad n when it arrived it had a large amount of meat (Beef) but looked rather dry n indeed it was! Was totally tasteless n when we got the bill chips n salsa was on bill $4.95 as all Mexican Restaurants put that on table at n/c we were taken aback but just paid it! I will not go back there! Taco Salad n Sweet Tea $25+

Highly recommend, the place was bigger inside than it seems. There are two separate menus depending if you want Japanese or Hispanic food. For sushi, rolls came out very quickly and there was not much wait time between ordering and receiving the plates. The main specialty burrito was loaded, you won't leave this place hungry!

We were driving through and found this hidden gem in town. We ordered veggie tacos, guacamole, pineapple salsa, black bean tacos, and a veggie roll. Our waitress Avery was very sweet and helpful. The food came out so quickly! The only negative thing I can say is the veggie tacos had very few veggies in them for $4.95 but they were tasty. The pineapple salsa is the best salsa I've ever had, ever! We loved the guacamole too! Cute atmosphere and great food.

No stars really. Swami taco , it was a fish stick on a tortilla with slaw, Mayo tasted old. Street corn had no flavor, for the price at $2 more expected it to be better. Billy Ray taco was chicken tender. I guess it's good if you don't want like spicy good. Over priced for what you get. Loved the inside, Staff was friendly.

Tacos and so much more! My fiancé loves tacos (he lived in the southwest for many years) and was very excited to visit this gem for his birthday! The restaurant has a small bar at the front, with a few frozen margarita machines. There are several booths surrounded by a bunch of tables. There seemed to be adequate servers for the lunch hour. Service was fast but food was even faster. Our server Christy was very nice and happy to answer all of our questions. We shared the dip trio with chile con queso, guacamole, and fire roasted tomato salsa. All three were fantastic. The queso was served in a small cast iron skilled and had been slightly browned on top. The chips were a bit over salted, but went perfectly with our beers. They had a good selection of regional and Mexican beers. We each had the tacos, which you get to pick two plus a side for 9.95. I got the cheech, lucky lucha, and the sweet corn salad. The cheech was a recommendation from our server, Christy. The meat was tender and very flavorful. The corn salad was fantastic, I think I finished it before even touching the tacos. The lucky lucha features fried avocado which was a great vegetarian option. My fiancé had the swami, slow poke Rodriguez, and the chorizo mac. Both tacos were delicious. Our server, Christy, told us that the chorizo mac was a customer favorite, and for good reason. My fiancé asked if we could go back tomorrow, which coming from taco critic is quite the compliment.

Tried this little Mexican place while traveling in Florence for work. I ordered the fish taco and the brisket taco. Wow. Started with the fish and literally didn't think it could get any better but the brisket was amazing as well. Both very different so I'm not sure which I could say I enjoyed more! Absolutely recommend!

Order the Al pastor tacos, that meat was so delish and juicy, you can't go wrong. The nopal salad was not as expected, to much beans, barely any nopal. All the meat in the tacos and fajitas were very good, some juicier than others, but very flavorful. Loved the Frozen margarita as well, doesn't taste like some other nasty mixes you might encounter

Fun place. Sat at the bar. Everyone is so fun and friendly. Guacamole was fresh and delicious. Really great margaritas, rimmed with back salt. I would go back just for them! Had veggie sushi and it was very fresh and good. Dining partner had tuna cake and highly recommends. We liked this place so much that we are thinking Florence will be our regular stop on the way to Florida. A nice downtown with friendly people and this is a great place. Justin the bartender was great! Loved that they Mexican and Japanese options. So unusual!

Great place! West Coast vibe with Southern Hospitality, this place is a must if you are in Florence or coming through town! I suggest you try a few different tacos. A bit pricey at $4/taco, you can still get out with a fairly reasonable bill. The food is creative, filling, delicious and fun. My favorite is the Slow Poke Rodriguez with grilled steak, but I went back for seconds on the Vote For Pedro, which has chorizo and tater tots. Great music playing and very lively but not obnoxiously loud, this is a great place to chill solo or hang out with the gang. The service was attentive, the staff is friendly and the ambiance is fun. My new favorite spot in town!

Driving from NH to SC and SO GLAD we stopped here! Pulled in next to the restaurant and there's a underground garage with free parking! This is by far one of the best taco joints I've been to and I love tacos! Our server Reagan was wonderful, she was super knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions and was very attentive! We started with the trio dip, got queso, guac and the pineapple jalapeño salad which was amazing. For tacos I got the cheech and the fried avocado taco. The cheech was to die for, the meat was so tender and flavorful, you have to get it! Overall super yummy and I wish this spot was closer to where I'm living. Totally recommend if you're driving on 95, it's well worth the stop!!

We stopped here on the way to NC from Charleston and this place is fantastic! The food was inventive and delicious and the cocktails were simple and yummy. They make their own fresh fruit syrup for their margaritas and it makes all the difference! Our bartender/server was also very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. This place has it all for a fun meal.

We have always been a fan of King Jefe and their tacos, and have ordered takeout quite a few times during COVID. I wanted to leave a review on their new sushi- it's fantastic! It's a good price, you get large portions, with high quality fish and unique roll combinations. It's been available for takeout for the last few weeks- and we've gotten it twice already. Highly recommend! The interior restaurant is nice and the staff wears masks, but it's a small space that doesn't allow for much social distancing.

THE BEST SUSHI IN FLORENCE!!! Yes, sushi at a taco bar. Homemade, handmade food. Always quality, always fresh. Burritos, tacos, carnitas, taco salad, nachos..they have it all. You won't be sorry. Edited to add..King Jefe just won Best Margarita, Best taco, and Best Asian Fusion restaurant in the Pee Adele area!

Fantastic place for food. Fantastic place for service. I really enjoyed eating here. Surprised to get sushi and Mexican food which were surprisingly both very good. I visited from Oregon and felt very welcome by everyone. Come here and eat, it's great.

The bartender, Shay, was SO incredible and kind. Made amazing recommendations. Which, of course, ended up being absolutely incredible. 10/10 will definitely be returning.

The playboy sushi roll was wonderful. And the margaritas are amazing. The bartender Madison is so friendly and very helpful. Next trip I am going to try the Mexican that the other customers I met said was fantastic but I love sushi so we will see.

Best Sushi in town. I can't say enough about this place. It's a small unique design. Where else can you find Mexican food and sushi and both are great!
