"This classic, roadside window service joint has been offering epic soft serve since the 1950s. The current owners took over more than 20 years ago, expanded the hard ice cream selection, and added things like burgers, lobster rolls, and fried clam strips to the menu. The full King Kone experience includes navigating the hectic parking lot, waiting in line to order, and remembering to bring cash (or getting bailed out by Venmo). There’s picnic table seating onsite, and we can’t think of a better way to enjoy the good weather once they open in April than by pulling up, grabbing a generous soft serve with sprinkles, and savoring every moment while you battle your melting reward." - Mike Wasserman

Google
Best shakes in town and they have a Midwestern style Fried Pork Tenderloin sandwich that melts in your mouth!

The menu speaks for itself! Very extensive menu from ball stand snacks like nachos, corn dogs and hot dogs, frito pies, and soft serve ice cream. They also have every fried snack and flavor of ice cream/shake/malt you could want. Plus baskets of fried fish, chicken or shrimp, burgers (EVEN A VEGGIE PATTY and A BEAN BURGER OPTION YAY!!) sandwiches, wraps, and loaded fries. It’s important to know they cook to order so there can be a wait. The food is decent for what it is and if you are craving a flavor that sonic doesn’t carry, go here bc I bet they do. One of my faves is butterscotch and pickle. Not together of course! Take note they do not have a public bathroom and there’s limited outdoor seating off the main rd so prepare to take it to-go.

Google
Fantastic ice cream and burgers. They have special flavors besides vanilla, chocolate, and dipping sauces. They alternate chocolate with strawberry and pineapple, maybe more.

Stopped at King Kone today around 1pm. There wasn’t a line as most were already finished with their lunch break. Service was friendly and helpful. I decided to have the “regular hamburger” and a side of tots. Took a few minutes to get some delicious, freshly made food. I regrettably only took one photo, but I have to say it was the only photo that was needed. The size of the tomato and onion slices paired nicely with a perfectly cook burger. Quality service, quality food!

Only thing I hate the most about the place is when that lady told me she was not gonna fill up my ice cream in the cup eventhough it was a Large Ice cream but it was not full. So I let her keep it. She was pissed

Google
On my day out with Dylan the Great, my grandson, we stopped in for some ice cream since the day was warm, and we just left the park. I've passed by here several times, and there's always a line. Dylan got a strawberry/ vanilla cone, and I got just a Diet Pepsi. After receiving our goodies, we went to the covered area where the picnic tables were located. Dylan said that it was the best ice cream cone ever! It was huge, too. This has been added to one of our favorite stops when we are on our "hang out days."

Google
Not friendly service, i ordered a dipped cone the lady gave it to me in a cup she said It was too wet?? The lady added Oreos and the chocolate that was supposed to be on the dipped cone was hardened to the cup and just overall a horrible experience. I’ve tried to give this place a second chance and still horrible!

Google
Nice staff. Ice cream did not have flavor. Food was mediocre.

Neccole N.

Yelp
Turkey burgers are delicious. Love that option for a person that doesn't eat beef. The cookies & cream shake was amazing & the small cone was more like a large! I love it when an establishment doesn't skimp on portions.

Dana W.

Yelp
This place is fabulous! I'm so glad we don't live closer or we would gain a million pounds. My husband and I recently went there on a Saturday night and both had a cheeseburger and a twist (choc/van) in a cone. It was perfect.

Taylor E.

Yelp
The service was good but the food was horrible. They didn't butter the buns, no seasoning on the burger or the fries. Not to mention I spent close to $40 on two burgers and some fries. When I got home I tried to fix their soggy fries by putting them in the air fryer and the didn't even help. Will not be coming back.

L E.

Yelp
For an old geezer who remembers these types of places, it's the best place in Hot Springs. We've always received good service, polite folks at both windows, and although we realize that inflation has hit us hard in the last few years, it's still the "best joint in town"..... We live about 25 miles outside of Hot Springs, but anytime we are in the Springs, we always have to swing by KK at least for some ice cream... preferably more.

Jenna F.

Yelp
Yum!!! Burger and fries and banana split... all delicious... I can't wait to go back!!! Although my banana split was melted by the time I got home

Jack D.

Yelp
Quality of food and service took a nosedive these last few years. Usually and used to prefer home stores to chain stores. But service and quality food 1 minutes away without having to fight an inconsiderate crowd loitering around the windows.

Robert A.

Yelp
We only got their soft serve ice cream - both swirl and dipped cones -- and they were both fantastic. Very generous sizes! Great service!

Clau B.

Yelp
Me and my husband were road tripping from Austin to Georgia and decided to make a stop in Hot Springs, AR to see The Anthony Chapel. We decided to eat here after seeing the yelp reviews talk about how good this hole in the wall was.... WELL.... for once, Yelp failed me. My husband and I got very sick after eating here. Cons: - The burger was very unseasoned. - The lettuce tasted old and weird. - The curly fries were gross and soggy and all stuck together.... it was the worst curly fries I've had in my life. - They have a credit card fee. - The woman taking our order did not have a mask or gloves on so I didn't feel like COVID regulations were being taken here. She was also very surprised when we said we wanted to order some burgers so that should've been our que to get the hell out of there... TL;DR - This place sucks. If you want soggy fries and unseasoned burgers then this is for you. Otherwise stay far away!!

Lia M.

Yelp
This is a wonderful spot to eat! Made to order and just plain good! The vegetarian burger is delicious and so is the soft serve

Malhar P.

Yelp
Probably the best burger places to eat and enjoyed eating a very big burger. The bean burger was extremely well cooked and had to wait but was worth it. Definitely recommend anyone stopping by to come enjoy a bite here!

Melanie B.

Yelp
Mmm, y'all. If you enjoy a good, freshly made burger...this is the spot. We drive from Little Rock to visit the in-laws and have to hit this place up when we are in town. I love their fat, crispy onion rings too.

David C.

Yelp
It's good! but I got a dip cone it was fine but I'm not sure if there machine was working all the ice cream was almost liquid!

Rick W.

Yelp
Awesome Burger! Cajun Fries Were Fries, Not Sure What Made Them Cajun. Finally, If You Pay With A Card It Is More Expensive. Why, I Asked? "Because You Pay The Fees, Not Me" Was The Reply From The Lady In The Mask. I'd Go Back.... But With Cash.

Yelp
America has tons of great food & amazing restaurants, that is for certain. A melting pot of cuisines, super cheap to beaucoup expensive, from all over the world. One of the many things that makes America special. However, if we are just talking about good ol' American food, cheeseburgers, hotdogs & ice cream there is only one #1 place for me. And that is King Kone. Nestled down in the beautiful Mountains of Hot Springs, Arkansas on a little side street, you will find what we call in France, "un petit trésor" and what a most delightful treat to find that is, as All American as apple pie & baseball. And they do serve fried PIES. Yummy yummy YUM fried pies. Not a fancy place, just a little drive in, however the food is off the chain! My hubby & I usually swing by King Kone when we "adventure" out to Petit Jean State Park, visit the Hot Springs, stay at the Alpine Inn or recently, we opted for a stay at Riverview Cabin & Canoes over in Oden. That was all amazing, but not as AMAZING as the burgers & fries at King Kone. After a day of hiking we LOVE the double Cheeseburgers & fries. There must be crack in those burgers bc they are so moist & flavorful with melty gooey cheese all over :)... Top them anyway you like, LOVE that they serve purple onion instead of white. And the Fries?! Perfectly crispy plain or add their amazing chili, cheese, jalapeños or all 3 :).... This last visit we drove down from Petit Jean for lunch while my hubby constantly talked about the King Kone double cheeseburger. Bla Bla Bla omg it's so yummy! By the time we got close, he was so hangry, driving so fast to get there, that he literally went over the train tracks going down the mountain so fast I swear we took flight! He scared the bageebas out of me. He hasn't been allowed to drive my car since. If you LOVE all American Food & your a complete Cheeseburger NUT & haven't been to King Kone your missing out on one of the greatest experiences of your life. Pack your kids, your mom & dad, your grandma & grandpa or just your spouse. Hell, load'em up in the RV with the dog(s) & head out to beautiful Hot Springs. There is tons to see & do but the destination should be KING KONE. Drive all night if you have to till you see the giant soft serve ice cream "KONE" on the front of the building. Famous for the "Purple Cow" ice creams, soft serve vanilla ice cream blended with NuGrape soda. A all American King Kone Classic you MUST TRY. Walk up & order everything on the menu (if you have your whole family with you it will work out trust me) it's all in.FREAK.IN.CREDABLE! Salads, turkey burgers, foot longs, chili cheese fries, (omg the fries :)...) catfish basket, waffle cones, banana split, Veggie burger, BLACKBEAN burger, (YES VEGENS WELCOME) Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, shakes, etc., it's all fantastic. The chili on the chili cheese fries & hotdogs is the BOMB! Everything here is made fresh. Old School All American done right. But it's MORE than that. It's the All American town, the classic old building, the picnic tables off to the side with the Arkansas mountains as a backdrop. The people. Oh, there are lots of people coming & going. A very popular spot indeed. While I was there last, I even saw the SONIC employees get off work next door, WALK OVER & stand in line with the rest of us hangry people. You think my hubby drove fast to this place? You should have seen that Sonic dude sprint over. I posted a pic if you missed it. That's the way he Sonics. Lol Some places just have a soul, a vibe, a "je ne sais quoi" in ALL American terms, its hitting on all 12 cylinders. So for everyone that always ask me "what is your favorite burger place" it's KING KONE. The Tiny super inexpensive drive-in with the outdoor picnic tables in the Arkansas mountains with the KILLER cheeseburger & fries. Yes, put this one on your BUCKET LIST. Like my hometown boy Paul Proudhomme says; "You don't need a silver fork to eat good food." Hubby & I will drive 7 hours to get our King Kone experience on! We make a weekend of it. We hit the hot springs, hike, bike & canoe, but mostly what we DO, is stuff our pie holes at King Kone. That's the way we roll. Highest recommendations.

Yelp
Really good burgers & fries for a drive in. Noticed a very big variety of food options, so I will return to try something else.

Edith F.

Yelp
Came here because I was on a ice cream craving trip. Ordered a banana split it was about $5. Pretty decent size. Incredibly filling. I definitely will be coming back for their ice cream. Superrr yummy!

Howard S.

Yelp
Classic walk up and order at the window burger joint and ice cream place. Burgers are always amazing with fresh crisp toppings. All burgers are made to order and they have a couple of covered picnic tables outside. Their purple cow is the one must order item on the menu. Soft serve vanilla ice cream blended with NuGrape soda. Trust me. Just do it.

Laura R.

Yelp
Waht a great little place. We had the BBQ sandwich and fries and split it in half. Was really filling. The old fashion coke float made it an awesome complete meal. The homemade nutty buddy is to die for

Dianne H.

Yelp
This is a cool place to grab a good bite to eat in the city of Hot Springs while dining in your car! Or sit at the picnic tables outside. Whatever suits your fancy! Had to try the foot long chili cheese dog for sure. It was well made and pretty darn good! Chili was fresh and delicious. My friend ordered the Black Bean Burger and Fries. Fries were homemade and delicious!! Did not have the nerve to order the Pickle Spritz drink which consists of pickle juice and crushed ice...maybe you do!

Rea B.

Yelp
This place is soooo good their burgers don't taste like fast food and rly good fries. The best ice cream in town as well

Maddy G.

Yelp
The girl who took my order was extremely rude. We thought it was almost closed that's why she was being rude, but it's 9:00pm and it closes at 10 which doesn't make any sense as to why she was so rude to us. Food was good tho

D'Shean H.

Yelp
I was EXTREMELY pleased with my meal. Jumbo Cheeseburger (double meat) ,Tator Tots (Chrispy), and a drink to wash it down! I will definitely come back to try something different on the menu. I'm eager to try the chili dogs! 5 stars from me!

Brooke J.

Yelp
King Kone usually always has nice workers and really good food. I got there at 8:30. Which is almost 2 hours before they close so I do not understand why the lady taking our order was so rude. She was rushing us and had an attitude and even raised her voice at me while i was looking at the menu. The food was still good but this worker needs an attitude change and quick...

Mark D.

Yelp
We love burgers, so naturally we were intrigued when we came across this well reviewed local joint. My fiancé and I both went with cheeseburgers with Cajun and regular fries. The burgers and fries were both solid. We also ordered fried pies, and those were good as well. Service was very friendly. We will visit this restaurant again, and would recommend to anyone looking for a solid burger and fry!

Megan E.

Yelp
I ordered the cheeseburger combo meal. Burger didn't really have any seasoning or flavor to it. French fries were just okay. Strawberry milkshake was good though.

Jay C.

Yelp
Solid burger. Fully dressed is the way to go. Tots were crispy. Good selection. Small, large and double meat burgers.

Jon C.

Yelp
Great little local place. Walk up window with very friendly staff. We had the large cheeseburger, footling chili dog and tater tots. All, very good. Prices are great and food amount was great for the money

Jack H.

Yelp
What a great Cheeseburger! Meat is fresh, good size patties, cool crisp vegeies too! Fries were just right and I like that they didn't over salt them. I got to try the shakes next time and maybe a malt. Hard to find a place that still does malts. A great little burger stand!

J. R.

Yelp
YAS This little place does it right! Is it gourmet or something to travel to AR for - not necessarily; but it's a fun, classic style place that has great service and old school grub. My friend had a field day over the fried pickles xD The ice cream cone I got was swirled to perfection and I simply remember this place after so long and that says something - it's memorable - it's a fun moment - Go to King Kone! :D

Leslie B.

Yelp
Ordered food at 8:30 on a Saturday they were acting super pissed and rude. Then got home my burger had hair all in it. I've literally been going to this place since I was an infant and I'm never going back.

Samantha H.

Yelp
Yummy burgers! I really enjoyed my burger and fries. Ice cream tasted a little off. Not sure why, but I wouldn't get the ice cream again. Will be back for the burger though.

Keith B.

Yelp
This is the best fast food in Hot Springs! Great burgers and shakes! Also they have great nachos! Family owned. They really care about their customers!

Ricky N.

Yelp
Basically a roadside dairy bar, King Kone came through with delicious soft serve vanilla ice cream. That's all I know about and was the highlight of my trip to Hot Springs and Arkansas.

John C.

Yelp
This place definitely lives up to its name. Best ice cream ever. The medium cone is mostly very large. Burgers and curly fries are good too. Wish Yelp would let you rate higher than 5

Melissa B.

Yelp
Dairy bars always have the best food. This place is right on the money! They have wonderful burgers, fries, ice cream...home of the Purple Cow aaaaaaannnnnddddd (drumroll plz) FRIED PIES!! I love fried pies! They don't sell those just anywhere. A delicious ending to a big ol burger meal.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I love King Kone, it's been one of my favorite places to get ice cream or a burger since I was a kid. Their Cheeseburgers are very good and my husband likes their chili, cheese burgers. I also love the twist cones but my absolute favorite is the purple cow! Its vanilla ice cream mixed with grape and it's so good! It's a must try!!

Anthony R.

Yelp
I just wasn't impressed here. The ratings are good but it could use some improvement. Their burgers are rated as one of the best in Hot Springs, but I found them thin and flavorless. Maybe I went on a bad day, sorry King Kone. The chocolate milk shake was very icy and tasted very bland. And sitting right across the street from Sonic, which I have lost respect for but they do have good shakes, made me want to toss my shake and get one a new one from there. The fries were good though and the menu selection had several items to choose from and many desserts. This is just like a dairy bar setting w/ outside seating only, which who doesn't like?!

Missa W.

Yelp
King Kone has long been a family tradition of ours. Wether we lived in Hot Springs or else where, the food remains phenominal. Our son had his first ice cream cone here My first one was on my first date with his daddy. They just can't be beat.

Michael R.

Yelp
The best mom and pop Burger Shop you will find in town! Not far from great locations like Country Club and other lovely places to enjoy your time. They also well get an order ready for you over the phone so you can pull up pay pick up and leave. Everything is the made to order fresh.

CJ F.

Yelp
The people are always nice! The food may come slower but the quality is worth it. It's also a great place for a date.

Madeline E.

Yelp
This place is a total gem. If you like traditional roadside fast food, this place is for you. Fresh ingredients, made to order for you served with a dose of nostalgia. The woman who waited on us at the window was honest, frank, and good-natured. We have veggie burgers, fries, and ice cream. All delicious. Wish we could return for a cherry limeade. This place is highly worth a stop. Best place we ate at in Hot Springs!

Joe I.

Yelp
I love this place great ice cream great food but there's is one major flaw the service is soooo slow but it's worth it in the long run

Eric S.

Yelp
Greasy hamburger spot with prices that are very affordable. The cheese burgers tasted as expected from a shack the had a full parking lot of patrons. My children indulged in a soft serve treat afterwards that did not empty my lunch budget.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Nothing that great. Burger just ok. Fries fine, would be better without the cheese sauce, but I'm not generally a fan of the stadium type cheese sauce so if you like that then these are for you because there is a lot of it. The nutty buddy was not disappointing. The chips in the razorback nachos were extremely stale, ended up scraping off the toppings to eat on the fries. My son liked the mini corn dogs. The chili cheese dog was the only part that was really, really good. And the hot fudge shake was quite good as well.

David R.

Yelp
I enjoyed my chili-burger from here. The chili was slightly over-oily... but still pretty good. And I got a Pumpkin Shake to go with -- which, I guess is seasonal.

Kevin D.

Yelp
Very good food. My mother used to take my oldest son here. It was their favorite place. RIP Mother. We miss you.

Fair C.

Yelp
Just went at 9:10pm and it was closed! According to Yelp it closes at 10 tonight. Not good especially when we've been driving around town trying to find something to eat and we're all hangry

Francisco M.

Yelp
Gf and I order the chicken sandwich and BLT they were delicious! I order some ice cream cones and accidentally ordered the wrong one and the lady with flower tattoos gave us a free exchange. Great food and costumer service over all.

Erin L.

Yelp
Ah.. memories of my childhood.. I love this place, always have. The menu is quite extensive and oh so yummy. King Kone is hands down some of the best greasy food in the land. The employees are friendly and service is nice. The wait can depend on what you order and how busy they are, but trust me, it is worth it. If you have never heard of or had a Purple Cow, you should. At least once. Whoever thought grape and vanilla tasted so well together. The hubby loves their burgers, complete with a toothpick to hold it all together. Please remove toothpick before consuming :)
