The 5 Best Things To Eat In Helen, Georgia During Oktoberfest
"Giant Pretzel & Beer Cheese
King Ludwig’s Biergarten has one of the most lively scenes during Oktoberfest. Musicians serenade the crowds while servers usher steins of beer and light bites to the courtyard picnic tables. After approaching double digits on our Bavarian pretzel count, we feel confident enough to name King Ludwig’s our favorite. That’s largely due to the excellent beer cheese that packs a flavorful punch and speedy service (which comes in handy after a few pints of beer). Plus, the warm pretzel had a good amount of chew, salt, and crunch—which adds up to a perfect excuse to sneak away to the service counter for another pretzel and to readjust your lederhosen. I'd give this a higher rating if it wasn't for the fact that the price for a pretzel read $11, and the bill for it was $14. I thought we scored a deal at this place. Unfortunately not. The pretzel was hot and delicious though. There was entertainment provided. Seemed to be playing all Beatles songs. Not sure how often they wipe the tables down though, stayed for awhile and didn't see anyone cleaning.

Live music, great food, great beer, outdoors, you can smoke a cigar, and now you don't even have to go to the counter... make a couple stops here every Oktoberfest!!!

Love the live music and outdoor style, beer is no joke all the German styles you could ask for and just a relaxed atmosphere.

Brought the family to King Ludwig Biergarten after tubing down the river. Glad we came as we got to sample delicious beer and brats. Don’r forget to order a pretzel. They are massive!

Beer was alright. Food was not good. But our server Rose made it worth our time. She made us feel welcomed even with a big party. She was quick and helpful! Wouldn’t go back for anything but to have Rose as our waitress! She was outstanding. She never got the orders wrong and was had a good attitude the whole time.

Sadly when we went (Friday) they were out of FOUR main menu items. They don't serve food till after 12:30pm. Disappointing experience, we brought kids and they too were upset at the menu offerings. They allow dogs and have water bowls for them. Place is more about the alcholol than the food offerings. Waitress was nice and friendly.

King Ludwig Biergarten should get 10 stars for atmosphere! Such a fun place to grab a beer and some food in the open air in Helen! Loved the live music they had during the day and night. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and it felt like a true Oktoberfest-vibe.
