"An excellent option for Egyptian fare, this restaurant serves a variety of tajin stews, spreads, seafood dishes, and more. They’re also a solid option for catering, including for those with dietary restrictions." - Eater Staff, Missy Frederick

Holy crackerknuckers! First of all, freaking 6 stars! Second of all, how is everything so good it’s unsettling. I have always wanted to visit Egypt but it’s impossible in this economy, so I wanna say a big thank you for making a similar experience possible down the highway. Everything not only looks presentable, the food just sits so pleasantly on your tongue. I’m utterly surprised they didn’t turn this into a 5 course meal restaurant and up charge because they totally can if they want to! Now lastly, to those who gave less than 5 stars. I hope you trip over a rock and hit your head to some good senses.

I just had the BEST food experience of my life. King of Koshary makes such authentic Egyptian food! I was convinced my mother was in the kitchen cooking. I am from Egypt and my husband spent 1 month in Egypt recently. King of koshary was as good if not better than Egyptian food from Egypt. Best Molokai and chicken ever. The bread was warm and home made. The hummus was smooth. The falafel was true Egyptian falafel (made with foul/fava beans not chicken peas). The salad was fresh with light dressing. I got the ox tail tanji. The meat was so tender, falling off the bones. The stew it sat in was savory. The rice was simple and fresh. The portion size was excellent for the price. We even had some mango juice. Oh my gosh it was so delicious and thick. Imagine an entire mango purred! Just the mango and it’s ice cold. The prices were decent. The atmosphere was fun and full of Egyptian pharaonic decorations. The service was fast. I feel like it was my birthday today and someone just gave me the best present: a delicious meal that taste like home (Egypt). I can’t wait to go back.

We chose this restaurant based on the many reviews it had. The environment was clean but very ordinary. The service, however, was extremely poor. We waited a long time for everything, and they kept forgetting our orders—even one of the main dishes was forgotten. The appetizers were tasty, except for the hummus, and the main dishes were good.

Nadia and Ayob were so sweet and welcoming. We ordered almost everything on their menu, including the meat feteer and koshary. Everything was delicious and super authentic! They answered all of my questions about their decorations and were so sweet. Hands down this is my husband’s favorite spot in Arlington for real Egyptian food!

First of all, we were greeted by the nicest server, brother of the owner. The food was AMAZING to say the least. We got falafel, miskaa, koshari, and two types of fish. All of which were delicious!! Thank you very much

Google
We went for dinner there, we got koshary, kebdah (liver), hawawshy, mesakaaa and sujuk feteer. The staff was nice and welcoming, the mesakaa and hawawshy were perfect but the liver, koshary and feteer were below average. The feteer was over priced and not authentic at all, it was made using puff pastry which is totally not how authentic feteer is made. The filling was nearly inexistent, it felt like eating plain puff pastry. I was so excited to try the feteer since it has been a while since I've eaten one bit this was really disappointing and nothing like the authentic ones made in Egypt. It was also too expensive for what you get. I can recommend the hawawshi and mesakaa (eggplant with tomato sauce), these were really good.

I had been craving an Egyptian breakfast for some time and when I found out that we had none in Richmond I decided to drive all the way up to Arlington. Great food, great atmosphere and great hospitality by the chef! Photos were taken mid meal 😅😅

Flavorful and delicious food. The fetter with honey is a sweet and crisp accompaniment to a meal. We also enjoyed the fresh hummus which had a good cumin flavor. We also really liked the beef and chicken shawarma platters.

Yelp
We had originally come here for dinner, but changed our mind when we saw that the foul is listed as a brunch item. So we came back on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is a plain unprepossessing space. There were three in our party and we were given a booth. The small children of an Asian family that were there enjoyed taking their picture with the little statue of Anubis that is near the door Koshary is a vegetarian dish and a signature item on the menu. Since one of us is vegetarian, we decided to all go vegetarian. Ovo-vegetarian that is. We ordered the Koshary and the foul and the Shakshuka. The Koshary is a mix of chickpeas and grains, and crispy fried onions It comes with a red sauce that you mix in with it At the table are two bottles. One is a hot sauce and the other is a garlic and lemon juice vinaigrette. You are told you are welcome to add either one to this dish as well. The hot sauce was mildly hot since I'm Indian. The garlic vinaigrette was OK. Maybe better on a salad. This was delicious and I can see why they are proud of it. In law school, my roommate was a Lebanese from Sierra Leone who introduced me to foul. A rough description is that it is hummus, but made with fava beans. It is an Egyptian staple and they do a good job of preparing it here. They bring you Egyptian pita bread with which to scoop it up. The Shakshuka is menemen or Turkish poached eggs by another name. It arrived a little later than the other dishes and was piping hot. For three guys in their 60s, this was plenty of food My one friend had the strawberry smoothie while my other friend and I had the Turkish coffee My friend enjoyed his smoothie and we enjoyed our Turkish coffee If you have not had Turkish coffee before, be aware that the grounds at the bottom of the cup, and it is basically thick like mud. Our server was friendly and informative, and did not rush us They also have a selection of tagines. Among which is one with oxtail, which I very much want to try on my next visit. As you can see from there, Paige, they also serve Branzino, which is a delicious fish, but I tend to favor fish that has not had to travel so far. As you can see from the absence of a photo, we ate the Shakshuka before I could take a picture of it :-)

Yelp
This was my first time trying koshary and omg! Im a fan! My friend dined at the restaurant and brought me back an order. The portion was massive! It was enough for four meals. The crispy onions were incredible and I loved the different types of pasta mixed with rice. I don't live in town but I'll definitely be visiting when I come back!

Yelp
I love coming here and trying new dishes from their menu. I have loved everything I've tried. The koshary is a must. I've had it in Cairo and Giza, and must say, I think King of Koshary makes the best one I've tried. I also like the branzino. They serve this with rice and fresh salad. They cook the fish with a nice char. So flavorful! If you just want a snack or appetizer I recommend the moussaka (stewed eggplant) and the fetter with honey (a delicious, flaky bread). Their juices are so fresh and flavorful. Try the mango juice and the lemon & mint. Every time I come here the service is top notch. Also, I love how they always seem to be updating their decor. I love when I see local business thriving!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I searched high and low for an authentic Egyptian restaurant that I could take my family to so we could eat some of our favorite meals found on our trip to Egypt. King of Koshary did not disappoint! Their Koshary was delicious! Huge portion that we could have split for an incredible price. My sister got the baba ganouj, which she said was one of the best she's ever had. My husband got the chicken schwarma platter. This was also a generous portion. The falafel was to die for! It was so light and had the best texture I've had in the US. I wasn't the biggest fan of the hummus, but honestly, it doesn't matter compared to everything else. In addition, the service was outstanding. They were so warm, welcoming, and accommodating. Egyptian food isn't known for being spicy, so they even brought whole jalepenos to my husband to ensure he enjoyed his meal. Too everything off with a Turkish coffee or mint tea and this is a perfect meal!

John B.

Yelp
The menu was large here, but I came seeking the titular koshary. Many cultures have their beans and rice dish, but the Egyptian koshary is one of the more exciting renditions, and the version here is indeed fit for a king. When I use fried onions at home, I use them liberally, and the people here clearly agree that there is no such thing as too many fried onions on top. But the spiced tomato sauce given to mix in hit the spot, and the macaroni noodles were an al dente that just breaks up the textural experience of eating the lentils and rice and gives more surface area to soak up the flavor of the sauces, making for a dynamic way to deliver some flavors you probably are familiar with. The added sauces at the table weren't necessary, but they were good. A strong tea completed my meal, and while I didn't have room for any of their other bean-based classics, they looked appealing. This place isn't a high-end ambiance by any stretch, but I'm all about the food, and they delivered what the name on the door promised.

Yelp
Was in the neighbor so stopped by to try a few things. Very friendly service. I tried falafel (they were very proud to point out they make Egyptian style falafel with fava beans, not chicken peas). Delicious. Crispy, flavorful, big hit. Hummus was good, taste homemade. King Tut salad very fresh. Happy to support local, small business with such fresh food.

Tuong Vi B.

Yelp
Very clean modest restaurant but the food is fresh and savory. We the Cejani Branzino and of course the Khoshary. Too cool us off we drank Mint Lemon Juice. Service is friendly and food is delicious!!

William R.

Yelp
Haven't had koshary since leaving Egypt in 2011. It was on point...LOVE! And the hawawshi? Fantastic! King of Koshary is the Abu Tarek (iykyk) of Washington DC!

Anas A.

Yelp
Very good service and the food was amazing for me the mango juice was delicious I love this place and I will come back whenever I can

Yelp
This is the place you want to go for a hole in the wall Egyptian crazy restaurant. Not fancy, not to clean, not great restrooms but great food. Authentic. Great menu. Great prices. Maybe best lentil soup ever. Just an adventure.

Salma M. E.

Yelp
Food is really good! Their koshary is a spot on and the people there are so welcoming and friendly.

Khanh-Chau M.

Yelp
Never realized this place existed in Arlington - it's definitely a hole in the wall. I've never tried Egyptian food either, so this seemed like a good place to try it out. Waiter was super friendly with explaining the food and giving us recommendations. We got three main dishes - koshary, lamb okra tajin, and beef kofta. Koshary was very iconic and flavourful, I could see why it was such a popular street food in Egypt. Lamb tajin was great too - the lamb was cooked well as powerful in terms of taste. My favourite was the beef kofta though, the beef was so tasty with the slightly charcoal like taste and seasoning - it went well with the rice that comes with fried onion. We also got some dessert: om ali and basbousa. Om ali was alright in my opinion, but the basbousa was great with the honey flavour and not being too sweet. Overall, everything was delicious and amazing; definitely worth the prices. I was a little disappointed I had to pay for a water bottle to go along with the food, but food definitely made up for it. Even got to talk with the chef about our experience too; everyone was super nice! Will definitely come again to try more dishes.

Yelp
Wow...just wow. Words can hardly describe how spectacular this place is! King of Koshary may not look like much from the outside (you might even question whether you have the right address after driving past the sixth residential street with no other businesses in sight), but I promise you, it is 100% worth the leap of faith to come in and take a seat. I didn't get a chance to try their koshary, but everything that I and the friends I came with did try was absolutely amazing. I ordered their grilled branzino, which was genuinely one of the best things I've ever eaten. I've always been a huge fan of branzino, but I rarely have the opportunity to order an entire fish, but King of Koshary delivered, tail and head and all...and bones -- so if you've never eaten a whole fish, that is something to watch out for. But I promise that the flavor is worth the trouble! Plus, branzino has relatively large bones, so they're super easy to remove and avoid, so don't let the prospect of eating an entire fish intimidate you ^.^! The skin of the fish is blackened to perfection, providing the perfect charred, smoky flavor and crispy texture to balance out the subtle, tender flesh of the fish. Add a squeeze of lime over top to add a touch of brightness and zing, and you have yourself a pretty perfect entree. But King of Koshary takes everything a step further by stuffing the beautiful branzino with the most incredible mix of sauteed vegetables. It seems so basic, with just carrots, bell peppers, and onions, but it is spectacularly flavorful and beautifully rounds out the entire dish. The branzino also comes with a side of brown rice, a tahini-based sauce, and a small side salad with lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes. All around, it's a wonderfully balanced and super satisfying dish, with the branzino packing a huge flavor punch, paired with a light, crunchy, super fresh salad to lighten things up and cleanse the palate, and enough rice to feed a village. While the food was undeniably amazing, what really sold this place for me was the service. Our server (I believe his name was Marwan? But I admit I'm not the best with names) was one of the kindest, warmest, and most friendly people I've ever met in my life. He was super welcoming and upbeat, and just genuinely seemed so happy to be there and to support us. He gave fantastic recommendations and helped us each choose our dishes, and he was just so eager to share his culture and cuisine with us. I'm so incredibly grateful for the little taste of Egypt that I was able to experience from King of Koshary, both from the food itself and my snippets of conversation with Marwan. I can't wait to make my way here to try out the rest of their menu (they even have three branzino dishes!!! This place is every pescatarian's dream)!

Yelp
I have driven by multiple times and thought about stopping in, but a recent review in the Washington Post pushed me over the edge (along with many others it appeared, as the restaurant and parking lot were full). Luckily, because my wife had a last minute conflict, I had decided to get carryout, so I parked at the neighboring La Union (great El Salvadoran restaurant, by the way) and jumped in for my carryout. There was a few minute delay but the food was brought out pretty quickly. We had the koshary, roasted half chicken with rice and green sauce (it has a name, but I don't remember it), bread with feta, lobster bisque, and rice pudding. I really enjoyed everything except for the green soup/sauce that the chicken was served with, which had the consistency of a thick egg-drop soup. Specifically: The koshary was absolutely delicious. The tomato sauce we poured over the mix of rice, pasta, lentils, and fried onions was at once sweet, savory, smoky, and tomatoey (sp). The review mentioned two other sauces they had with the Koshary, including a spicy one, and I missed those with the carryout, but will look for them on my next visit, which will hopefully be soon. The chicken was perfectly crispy and cooked. I would have liked a little more salt, but my wife found hers to be perfectly seasoned. I honestly thought it must have been deep fried with how they achieve the perfectly crispy skin. The rice pudding was good - subtly sweet with a little sourness - almost like a light yogurt flavor. Not overpowering and a great finish to the meal. The lobster bisque was very good, too. (I saw they have a number of soups on the menu, so i thought we'd try one for future reference). The only negatives: The bread was very tasty with the feta, but was too oily for me and half of our piece was burnt. It was kind of like a roti. The green sauce, which I had hoped would taste like palak, didn't have a lot of flavor and the corn starchy like texture really turned me off. (But the chicken was so good, I'd order it again anyway and just ask to skip the condiment).

Spencer Y.

Yelp
The ground beef kebab is their most popular menu item being grilled and smoked to perfection on a large soft bed of delicious rice. I'd definitely order that any day of the week. Besides that, I was a big fan of the chicken shawarma sandwich, which comes with perfectly seasoned and juicy chicken in a grilled wrap. Their wraps are great value!

Meaghan G.

Yelp
i will think about this food for weeks. Idk anything about Egyptian food so this was an education malukhea - green goopy dip? appetizer fetter with feta - I could just eat this all day. arguably the best of any country's bread king koshery vegan - my dad will be pleased that rice, lentils, chickpeas, and pasta all go together rice pudding - one of the best desserts I've had. insane basbousa - not my thing. short textured beef shawarma platter - DELICIOUS. Idk where the red sauce comes from but it was insanely good too can't wait to go back

Jason Z.

Yelp
I've had the pleasure of dining at King of Koshary twice. As wonderful as the koshary is, several other dishes excel even more! The squid tajin and cenjari branzino blew me away with the tenderness of the seafood and snappy flavors (tomato and cilantro with the tajin, pickled veggies with the branzino). The expertly fried falafel is divine wrapped up in the warm naan bread and doused with the vibrant tahini. On future visits, I look forward to trying even more of the menu!

Meeka A.

Yelp
King of Koshary.... You deserve that title. I've visited Egypt before but I must say that this was even better than the food I had in Cairo. The fetter? Tasted like angels made it. The honey on top was the icing on the cake. The baklava is fresh and crispy The samosas were delicious and had just the right amount of spice. The koshary , perfect amount of fried onions and tomato sauce. When people ask for the top 20 local restaurants this needs to be on the list. Currently downloading duolingo so that I can thank their cook in Arabic because English just doesn't have the words needed! 10/10

Yosry R.

Yelp
We had very good vegan meal with our friends and feel like home cooked food. Services is excellent and food was great and tasty

Yelp
Don't go here expecting a super fancy decor with a French style service and dinning experience . Da Egyptian Food brazar. Number #1 Great Food, prompt service , decent pricing . 5 stars If you want my advice . Fish and Liver are their top dishes

Yelp
What a treat to have koshary for the first time. We visited King of Koshary restaurant serving Egyptian food in Arlington. It opened in 2019 and each bite was like being transported to Egypt. If you haven't had koshary, it is a street food and the famed dish of Egypt. With origins from India by way of the British, Koshary is a hearty grain bowl with rice, beans, and lentils, topped with fried onions. What makes it amazing, though, is a savory red sauce that you pour over the bowl--it is the perfect complement to the grains and brings out the sweetness of the fried onions. In addition, Chef Ayob introduced us to the garlic vinegar sauce that is iconic to this dish, adding another layer of adventure for the taste buds. We also had the falafel which, true to Egyptian fashion, was made with fava beans instead of chickpeas. Not a big difference for me but delicious as always. Oh yeah, all of this was totally plant based/vegan! While visiting this Arlington restaurant is a lot cheaper than taking a trip to Egypt, it will no doubt make you start dreaming of a visit to the lands of Koshary.

Brandon R.

Yelp
Food is good, nothing crazy though. Service is fast. Nothing to complain about I will say the design is really nice in the store though

Jason P.

Yelp
This restaurant may not look like much from the outside (or the inside for that matter) but the food is what you go for and this spot delivers. Started with a mint lemonade which was delicious and refreshing. I ordered the grilled branzino which the waitress warned would take a while (20-30 min?) but it was well worth the wait. It was easily one of the tastiest fish dishes I've ever tried, and the sides that came with it were equally delicious. I was also lucky enough to try the restaurant's namesake dish, which was also fantastic. I can't wait to come back to try other dishes, including the lamb shank!

Dalal H.

Yelp
This spot is a relaxed hole in the wall, full of families with an extensive menu. I enjoyed the koshary and feteer. We also got the macarona beshamel which my companion enjoyed, I thought it was decent. I've had better mint lemonade. I am a repeat customer.

Manal F.

Yelp
This place is terrible. How does it have good reviews?! The "falafel" is not falafel. It is not made out of chic peas or fava beans. Absolutely no way! The koshary is simply not koshary. There are barely any lentils and the onions are from a prepackaged bag you can get from a grocery store. They can't even fry onions to serve on top?! Their Koshary is basically day old rice and some macaroni with a sprinkle of lentils and prepackaged onions on top with zero flavor. The side of tomato sauce also clearly straight from a jar. The molokhiya was mediocre. The chicken was not fresh. It was clearly a frozen rotisserie that they just heated up. The samosa was terrible. None of the pictures online are what they serve you. I will say this: whoever designed their website and ordering app did a great job. Very easy to use and misleading with the pictures. Also the lamb liver was good. The server was initially affable and very nice but the moment we asked him about the falafel and its ingredients became very defensive. We were a party of 5 and more than half of all our plates were left untouched. Skip this place. You will thank me!

Monkey T.

Yelp
I drove 90 minutes to get some soup bowls advertised on Facebook Marketplace. They were described as "very good condition". We arrived outside and saw that it was a restaurant called "King of Koshary". I sent my son in to get them, as the parking lot was full. He put the box in the trunk, and we headed home. When I got home and unpacked them, eight out of the ten of them were cracked or chipped to the point that they were unusable. Some of the lids had burned on food. When I contacted the owner for a refund, he said, "no" and that it was "B.S." He appears to have blocked me, now. That the owner, Ayob would be so dishonorable does not bode well for the restaurant. If he would pass chipped and cracked bowls off as "very good condition", what is he passing off to his customers?

Rick K.

Yelp
This is an amazing place. Owner Ayub is such a gentlemen and great host and chef. He culinary skills and passion in cooking wonderful Egyptian delights show through each of his dish. He has amazing skills in presentation and communication. I have become big fan of Egyptian food and specially lamb / Okhra dish along with grilled fish delicacies. Salad, rice and tahini sauce are all amazing, delicious mouth watering. We had our meal and went home and still was craving for more that night. God bless Ayub and give him lot of happiness and thanks for being such an amazing host / chef. He is great and good is superb.

Maggie M.

Yelp
This looks like a total hole in the wall but it's definitely authentic!! The food is excellent, especially the beef kofta and the lamb tagine. The lemon mint drink was delicious! Our waiter was super friendly and very helpful and very Egyptian - his family is from Alexandria (Egypt). Highly recommend!

Leeann J.

Yelp
I came here with a few friends on a Friday night a little less than 2 hours before closing and it was pretty much empty. Most people who came in came to pick up takeout orders but sitting there and enjoying a large meal with friends was definitely the move. The one guy taking our order and bringing out our food was so nice and so helpful. We felt really taken care of by him, and he constantly came back to check on us and talk about the food. He told us his father runs a restaurant back in Egypt that specializes in koshary, which we got because why else were we at "King of Koshary". We also got hawawshi, the Alexandrian style liver, beef kofta, and there was pita, pickles, salad, and hummus on the side. My favorite was the hawawshi and the kofta which were both so savory and juicy. The rice that came with the kofta was insanely good and I had to stop myself from eating all of it so I could also enjoy the other dishes. The koshary was also very good, especially when you added the vinegar and spicy red pepper oil. The beef liver was very liver-y, but since I don't mind the taste, I really enjoyed that dish, too! Overall this is a great place and in a very hidden location in the Arlington burbs, but even with the trek it takes for me to get there from DC, I'll definitely be back because the food is super authentic (as confirmed by our one friend who came with us who is Egyptian) and super delicious!

Cat S.

Yelp
Pros: pretty decent koshary! Service isn't bad, nothing to write home about. Cons: the appetizer (samosas) were almost completely frozen, felt like they were microwaved in 10 seconds and put on a plate. Decor is also a little tacky.

Nora T.

Yelp
The food made us feel like we were back in Egypt! Great service & friendly staff! Planning to come back :)

Kha M.

Yelp
If there is more than 5 stars I would give it. Amazing food, friendly service and a real oriental atmosphere. If you love see food there is delicious fish, calamari souse or pasta with shrimp. If you are veggie/ vegan there is falafel, fabulous hummus and moloukhea and the best dish ever koshary.

Sonia A.

Yelp
Came here just for koshary. Onions were completely burned . Does not compare to the koshary in Cairo of course. Was hoping it would have more flavor . My friends did like the shakshuka, though it was too watery for my liking and no seasoning . Bread is not home made. Went because the reviews were so good but I was disappointed.

Basant I.

Yelp
Delicious hot fresh. Liver Sandwich. The place is clean and you can't find more authentic Egyptian food than this in the DMV area!!! Staff are so nice

Anna L.

Yelp
Tasteless food and okay service.. didn't like the food at all. The ambiance is okay, nothing special but the food is really tasteless the koshary was pretty much plain pasta and lentils with a tasteless tomato sauce. The shawarma was very bad too and dry

Paul R.

Yelp
I had my job order from this spot today. I had the ox tail. It was sooooo good. Two huge chunks of oxtail and carrots, in a nice little sauce. I'm not Egyptian at all. But this tastes home made. And I can't wait to try the intestines and liver next. Now I see why they have such a good rating. Wow. My palate and tummy are happy.

Doude S.

Yelp
I had the experience of visiting King of Koshary, it's was a requested dinner from my Son, at the beginning I wasn't expecting this kind of hospitality, friendly and clean place, the food was too good and fresh, especially The grilled fish. I recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Egyptian cuisine and affordable.

Y H.

Yelp
As vegetarians, it's nice to have the marquee dish be one you can eat! We went on a weekend afternoon and it seemed there were a lot of regulars there. It took 5 minutes to get an empty table cleaned. Service was on the slow side, but we weren't in a hurry and the young woman who was working had other tables to service in the main room and the smaller side room where we were seated. The Koshary was very filling and flavorful. Def carb-heavy comfort food, I think it's a great cold weather dish. The space has been a number of other places in the past- Yemeni just before this one. I'm glad to see it looks like this restaurant will make it. The physical space is not fancy, but it was adequate.

Chris S.

Yelp
Excellent meal and big portions! It was our first time trying Egyptian and we loved it. We tried the Hummus, Kings Koshary, Beef Kofta and Om Ali for dessert. The staff was friendly and helpful, will be back!

Yazamine M.

Yelp
As an Egyptian 100 amazing food. The fish was brilliant, came with salad and red fish rice, the Koshary was beyond amazing like being in Egypt again. Not one flow ... just SUPER SUPER amazing. Cooked right, served outstandingly, and the friend onion were crispy and just GREAT Love this place, awesome food, great quality, and PRICES RIGHT

Sarah A.

Yelp
I'm impressed! The staff is very friendly and the ambience is beautiful. The koshary was actually very very delicious. Every meal is large. Everything came very hot and quickly. I highly recommend!

Alisa L.

Yelp
We were cruising down Wilson boulevard one evening on our way back from picking up takeout from another restaurant (Fettosh, also amazing by the way) and the bf spotted this restaurant. Immediately, he insisted on trying this restaurant in the very near future. After a month of him hinting about how much he wanted koshary and stories of his study-abroad days in Egypt, I gave in and we placed a take-out order from here--koshary for him and chicken kabob for me (I know, I know, why am I getting chicken kabob). The koshary, in his words, is "really good." While these words may not be a ringing endorsement from anyone else, they are from him. The only complaint? That it was more expensive than it was in Egypt (~$1 for the record). But hey, nothing is perfect in life.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Marwan usually serves us. He is always friendly and quick to give recommendations. The prices are very reasonable, especially because the portions are generous. The owner is also lovely and will usually come out to say hello. This is the kind of place that does good, home style Egyptian food. If I'm having a long day at work, I love to come here. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is consistently good. I've eaten here a lot and I can say that I've never had a bad dish. Koshary is great, but try the fish. It's worth it!

Yelp
Tied their koshary several times! It is always consistent and always delicious. If you ask me it's not hr perfect price point and best tasting koshary in the area

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in the Arlington area, it's not everyday you can find a restaurant offering authentic Egyptian cuisine. I've had the brazino in different styles and it's always tasty, plus for a fish dish it's reasonably priced. Everyone that works here is extremely nice and always happy to recommend dishes if you're ever wanting to try something different. Haven't been able to find koshary or feteer anywhere else in the area so it's great they have these traditional dishes on the menu. The place has a mom and pop kind of feel to it, so don't come here expecting white table cloth service. Highly recommend this place if you haven't tried it yet!

Yelp
We went to the King of Koshary for the first time tonight and it was fantastic. I had never had Egyptian food and was delighted. We would definitely go back. We had the lentil soup and livers for starters. The livers were excellent with peppers and a delicious sauce that we ate in the traditional bread. Then we had a stewed lamb with okra and rice and a baked chicken with rice and a green sauce. Everything was delicious and the portions were so big that we have lunch for tomorrow. We also had the hibiscus tea and tea with milk. The lentil soup had a spicy flavor. The lamb stew has a tomato base and it was wonderful over the rice. The rice was a pilaf style with vermicelli and it was perfectly cooked. We also enjoyed the atmosphere. As others have said the exterior doesn't look like much but the interior is quaint and the staff are friendly. The chef talked with us and explained the dishes. We loved it and will definitely go back and try other dishes.
