Shrimp balls with wonton wrapper, spare ribs, sticky rice, har gow, shu mai. Chrysanthemum tea was so-so good!

We ordered the steamed fish (盲曹),which was great. We also ordered the pork belly with preserved vegetable (梅菜扣肉),which was terrible, dry and old. Service was OK.

We enjoy the daily dim sum offerings as well as their full menu. We recently had family dinner here & selected the $98 dinner package. Here's the pics. Check them out. Consistently good service & food. Parking is tough during peek lunch hours on the weekends.

I ordered a chive dumplings to go, the lady was nice, the food is terrible. They sold me old food, didn't even bother heating it up, it was cold! You can tell from the discoloration of the dumplings and thickness of the dough.

It was my first time here and it was a bummer because I was craving dim sum and my overall experience didn't hit the spot for me. I was excited to know they had indoor dining because dim sum to go is not the biz. In short the service was meh and the food was hit and miss. Food highlights: crispy shrimp roll, shumai, Chinese broccoli, shrimp rolls, first time having the fried eggplants cooked like this and it was pretty solid Disappointing items: crispy pork belly - wasn't crispy and tasty a bit old(?), chicken feet was meh

Came in early to beat the rush...the waiter was very attentive and engaging. The food came quickly. We got our choices of dim sum in matters of minutes of sitting down...the food was delicious! We got the braised chicken feet, spareribs, tendons, crispy pork belly, sesame seed balls, custer pineapple buns & shrimp dumplings...

Yelp
Dim sum was delicious! We enjoyed the sesame balls, dim sum steamed spare ribs, chicken feet, shu mai, and shrimp dumplings! We went on a Saturday and there weren't that many people surprisingly but we enjoyed it. The staff were attentive, checked in with us if we needed anything.

Yelp
Food is pretty decent, the regular dim sum fares. Most of the carts were coming around regularly so we never run out of food. Was not packed (tables were spaced apart). Would definitely go back.

Yelp
There was a foreign object in the food. Some time ago, I saw a female employee dumping leftovers from other customers back into the food cart to resell to other guests.

Yelp
Went here with family for dim sum. It's in a random strip mall. Parking is very compact. Even within the lines, I had to squeeze out of the car. Upon entering, it's definitely a venue-like space with a ton of family-style tables with a lazy Susan. We got seated fairly quickly towards the front corner of the restaurant. The dim sum carts came when we got seated and we ordered a few things. That's when it went downhill. The carts never frequented that corner of the restaurant again. Even the tables near us were looking around trying to get somebody's attention. One table even decided that they would just get the water pitcher and refill themselves. Lots of tables ended up leaving. We waited. And waited. And waited some more for the dim sum carts. They catered to the larger groups towards the back and middle of the restaurant. Makes sense, but could have been better service-wise on that end. The time one of the carts did come, it was practically empty. We ended up flagging someone down to just order and get it to us. That didn't even come and we double checked a couple times. I got full just waiting. We found someone to order some take-out. Even that took at least 20 minutes. And we waited in case the carts came around and we'd order a few other items. The hostess finally came to us and asked if we ordered to-go. She probably noticed what was going on and the seemingly bored and annoyed faces. She tried with some small-talk, but just the wait for any of the carts to frequent the front corner of the restaurant was tiring and hunger-inducing.

Yelp
Have been coming here for a few weekends to get dim sum. Love this place, staff are so nice and always willing to show you some new items to try. Food is great on par with Chinatown in SF, by far the best shu mai in sac. Will continue to visit

Yelp
This is our go to dim sum place, all the time. I have only been here for dim sum so I will only comment on the dimsum. It's never full when I go and it's a big restaurant so we're able to get a table fairly quickly. They still have the rolling carts but if you want a specialty item, you'd have to order. It seems like there's some secret menu that I didn't know about that my parents order that's really good such as the durian puffs and shrimp filled rice rolls. Its an older restaurant but the dimsum is legit, so i don'tmind. It is fairly inexpensive compared to the other dim sum places in sacramento.

Yelp
The steamed bao almost have no meat. Just some pink cornstarch jelly. The siumai is suspect, i don't know what they put in it. I dont't recommend this place. It is an insult to your palate. This place looks like a type of place that will recycle left over food and turn it into siumai because of the greed for money. Stay away.

Yelp
The dim sum here is so good! Everything was fresh and tasty. I really liked the dumplings and buns. The people were nice and the food came fast. I'll definitely come back again!

Yelp
This place always serves the best dimsum. This is one of my favorite dimsum restaurants. There are others that are good in the area, but I feel this place offers authentic dishes and fresh HOT options. I've been to some dimsum restaurants that serve cold dimsum; or you order from a menu, which defeats the dimsum cart experience. They offer menu items as well as group pricing for their items. We ordered various dishes from the cart, and from the menu we had minced beef soup, salty fish fried rice, and crispy Df shrimp rolls . The service has improved so much over the years. The staff (although they don't speak much English) were very attentive and made sure we had hot tea and cleaned our empty trays allowing extra room on the table . I love this place and I hope you all do too!

Yelp
I came to King Palace since my usual spot for dim sum was disappointing on my last visit. I was a little hesitant to come here because I only saw three stars, but then looked at the pictures and seemed pretty good. My family and I were super happy to find a new spot for dim sum that actually didn't skimp on the ingredients in the dishes. Our waiter was super sweet and very kind when we requested special dishes that we did not see on the cart. The only item that I didn't really care for was the char siu bao, since the filling seemed mushy to me; however, my sister and daughter enjoyed them. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for dim sum.

Yelp
TL DR: this place doesn't have the 5 star decor or the nicest bathrooms but it's one of the few places where you will find authentic Cantonese style dim sum in Sacramento. You will have rolling carts, people shouting in Cantonese, and an authentic experience. Food: My favorite thing about this restaurant is the fact that you can order traditional Cantonese style cuisines along with classic dim sum dishes. We normally order a stir fry greens (stir fry pea shoots with garlic), beef chow fun in their gravy sauce, and of course an assortment of dim sum staples. Elite tip for your first time trying dim sum: Har gap- shrimp dumpling Shu Mai - pork, shrimp, type dumpling Baos - assortment some are sweet like the pine apple bun (bolo bao) they have some with yellow custard and red bean paste. We like the ones with custard. Char siu bao - bbq pork buns come in two styles steam with a white soft bread or baked with a honey glazed style bun Dan tat- Egg tarts If you're feeling more adventurous or that you want to expand upon the basics: I. chicken feet (phoenix claws) texture isn't everyone's favorite thing as they gelatinous. You can eat the skin and tendons but spit out the bones II. Tripe (also a texture thing) a light salty ginger flavor profile with the way that it's cooked here III. Stuffed egg plants and bell peppers - assortment of meat with said vegetable IV. Deep fried taro puff with meat V. Bean curd roll There's plenty of other great items, it's really what you and your party prefer. Note dim sum isn't a non fat, keto friendly, gluten free type brunch. The meal will be greasy, salty, and what you expect from a traditional dim sum restaurant. Don't forget you have unlimited tea! Also most staff speak: Cantonese, Vietnamese, and mandarin. English may be a little limited, but the boss (who is a bad ass if you're watch the way she operates her restaurant) speaks english. I haven't seen anyone have issues ordering thing in English, you can also always point. I've been to other establishments and while their bathrooms are nicer/newer or they have more modern decor the flavor has remained the most authentic in Sacramento. You need to give this place a try if you're looking for dim sum!

Yelp
Very spacious restaurant.  Plenty of parking in strip mall lot. Pretty good dim sum. Here are the ones I recommend: Fried Shrimp Balls Black bean short ribs  Fried taro  Braised curry chicken feet Mango Pudding  Siu mai Curry beef tripe/chitlin The cart ladies are really a bit on the  hawking the food they are bringing around.  i am wondering if they get commission.

Yelp
We always end up dining here whenever the neighbor Chinese restaurant has a wedding event going on. Of course, for someone who was used to eating on the other one, you will definitely end up comparing dishes and how they cook and the flavors. At first, we didn't really like the dimsum here that much compared to the other one but I guess, our palates got used to eating here already. The dishes here were good though. We just prefer the dimsum on the other one. The service here was definitely way better than on the other one but the other one looks more clean since it was recently renovated.

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant several times with friends. I am never disappointed. Excellent Dim Sum. Very fresh vegetables. It gets pretty loud and crowded which is a testament to the good fresh food. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place if you want good Dim Sum.

Yelp
We celebrated my niece and nephew's 6th grade promotion here. Their moms reserved six tables for a party of 60 (10 guests per table), and it worked out perfectly for our Saturday evening shenanigans. When you arrive, the restaurant almost looks closed because there are a bunch of boards and fencing at the entrance but don't be fooled -- it's a huge space past those double doors. It's safe to assume that this place is a local choice for Asian wedding receptions. Anyway, we found our seats and the food came out the kitchen like clockwork. See photos attached. Food was good and of an abundance -- we ended up packing much of it to take home. The servers brought our dishes out to each table really quickly, and all of the dishes were of the similar tastes of food from an Asian wedding reception. I especially enjoyed the soup at the front of the hour. There is something about fish and crabmeat soup that is so satisfying. We had a great time. I'm sure their dim sum service on weekend mornings are a splendid experience.

Yelp
It made me sad that they don't have higher ratings. Two of us went for dinner and did not order any dim sum. The food came out hot and fresh-- you can see steam in my picture! The Mongolian beef was very tender, but everything was good. For off-hours dim sum with no carts, they have a convenient picture album to help with ordering! Service was phenomenal: our waitress packed 6 dishes to-go for us, joked around a bit and made recommendations when ordering, said thank you many times throughout ordering and paying, and gave us free calendars on the way out. Inside looked like a typical Chinese restaurant with dragon decorations and red. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
You are about to have an experience and you will remember this forever if you have never been before. It's a good spot to stop if you are going to the zoo in the morning. I have kids of all different ages and they all ate the food just as fast as they could get it. I had to cut it up for the kids under 5 and could not keep up. Just ask questions when you are confused and you will be. That's okay the customer service is super friends and answers all your questions. The atmosphere is difference from other spots but that is okay. I promise you will enjoy the spot even though you may question it in the beginning.

Yelp
Still one of our go-to places for dim sum after all these years. It's not as bustling as it used to be in its hey day, but the food is still solid. Service is nice and very efficient. Bao's are really good here, especially the pineapple topping. It's nice and crunchy and the center is pillowy. They let you mix and match different types of baos, which is great so you can try a variety. The tripe is really good, tasty flavor and nice texture, not overdone. Also got chicken feet and they have pork blood, which I usually like a little snappier. It was a little under seasoned too, but still good. Tried rice roll wrapped shrimp strip (don't know what to cell it in English). Was pretty tasty too.

Yelp
It was just the two of us so we got seated within 10 min. I can see there's quite a few new employees there cuz all they do is stand around. When you raise your hand, they walk away as if you're gonna eat them alive. They don't have much on the carts and you have to get a waiter/waitress to put in orders for you. This is challenging cuz of the language barrier. The chicken feet had a weird taste and it was super soggy. It didn't seem fresh so I assume it's probably leftovers from the day before. I've seen them bring out chicken feet and other foods from the kitchen to customers they seem to know. When I come in with my family (once every 2 months), we also get the same treatment (they come every weekend). Food was almost (always) exceptional, but the pricing is my main concern. They don't give you a copy of the detailed receipt, but based on this stamp form, I was charged ~$112 excluding tip. I would have asked for a detailed receipt if I didn't have to step out to take a call. I just gave my card to my cousin to pay and didn't realize the total until after I got home. They crossed out the cost per small, medium, large order, so technically, they could have charged me any amount and probably by law, I'd still have to pay even if my bill came out to be $1000, am I right? I'm not directly saying that they randomly charge customers, but I heard similar restaurants have a habit of doing so, unless you're a regular customer or you know the boss. It's also not my first time here but they do have a history of not providing receipts. So will I come back? I'll come back if they finally decide to put up clear signs to how much per item costs. It's not the money, it's the principle.

Yelp
This is an old Chinese restaurant that serves dim sum on Stockton Blvd. We came in the Spring of 2021 and had lunch. Cool statue in the front. We waited shortly before being seated. This place used to be hopping in the past as evidenced by the huge dining room. Big tables and small. We were among maybe only 5 parties dining. We ordered favs, radish cake, chive dumplings, har gow and several others. I asked for a menu to order dishes (common for dim sum that are noodle, duck or other dishes larger than dim sum). I saw $7.50 for half a duck so I ordered that. Later on the bill I got charged regular price. Waiter makes excuse that those specials are not valid. Then why is it on the menu??? So blame it on the pandemic eh? So sick of this mfing shit. Cut out all deals, lazy to change prices on menus (had this many times- bill does not match menu prices), besides massive unwarranted price increases (more than wage hikes etc - seriously join the herd mentality- guy down the street jacks up prices so we will too). Smh! So our light order of maybe $40 ends up near $60 with tax and tip. If you post menu specials you should absolutely not be honoring it and not saying we don't have that anymore. Lost a customer before I could become one....grrrr.

Yelp
Very very busy! We came on a Sunday! Right after 12 so brunch crowd was slowing down. The service was kinda hectic and people running around doing there best. Instead of the dim sum we chose the family deal which came with 5-6 dishes. The reason for the 3 stars because they sent the food out one at a time every 15 mins between 8 starving adults n 2 toddlers! Food got cold quick! The food was ok! I would not do the meal again and just do the dimsum menu.

Jeanette R.

Yelp
First it is such a large restaurant and we were seated immediately for being so crowded. Hostess was friendly and took our drink order but no one came with drinks. No settings on our table. No waitresses, and we can see Dim Sum Carts delivering food but by the time they got to our area they were empty with only desserts to offer. When we asked for a menu to ordered we got some food. Asked for spicy mustard several times, before finally getting some towards the end of our meal. Ordered roasted duck and left it because it did not taste good, as well as stuff pepper with shrimp. Dishes that were delicious: black bean spare ribs, shrimp dumplings, crispy shrimp wrapped in noodle (favorite), fried shrimp dumpling, steam pork buns, shrimp and chives dumplings, beef chow fun and egg custard tarts... all delicious. But I don't think we will return.

Yelp
Great dim sum. Tasty with extensive choices. Service is good and their cart girls are friendly. I recommend King's restaurant for wholesome Chinese comfort food.
google avatar

Kirby I.

Yelp
We always go to King's Palace and we have always enjoyed the food. Today, the service was terrible! The man serving us and who seated us was so sweet and really polite and helpful. However, we only got served once in 30 min by the lady wearing black with the cart, who by the way never intentionally came to us, we had to flag her. She came to our table and told us there was only one plate of siomai, which is what we came in for, and she told us she will be back. 20 min and an empty table later, she never got back to us. We called her and told her, and instead of apologizing or talking to us in a kind manner, she asked in a not so friendly tone, what we would like then? At that point, I just asked for the bill.

Yelp
This review is based on service and the unique dim sum options. I live in Los Angeles and we have a lot of great dim sum restaurants to compare to. The pros, good service and giant stuffed dumplings. Pro Tip: I always order their clam porridge. I can't get this item in Los Angeles and this is a must when I visit Sacramento. Why is it so good? Fresh chucked clams that offer a fresh seafood sweetness vs. any other restaurants that plainly use canned clams. Only con I have is the cleanliness of the restrooms.

Yelp
Love this place. Been going here with the family for years! Best and fave dim sum in the Sacramento area.
google avatar

Mali-Nelson O.

Yelp
Updating our review to 5 stars today because it was amazingly perfect. The servers and everyone was great! Our food brought out hot and fresh! Our hot tea and waters were topped off every so often, all our servers were friendly and nice! Our favorite is still the shu Mai and fried chicken! Tasty! The atmosphere is enormous, it's palace like beams holds up to their "King Palace" name. It's a great venue for weddings or special occasions. Decent pricing and lots of parking. It may be a little dated outside but it really still does hold it's value.
google avatar

Becky S.

Yelp
-parking is excellent -customer service is awesome. He said 20 minutes and just like that my Togo order was ready and out the door in 20 -restaurant in clean and nicely decorated -food price is worth every penny Best place for a dim sum or family meal fix. I love it here especially when they're not super pack and busy. Friendly reminder. If you go during a busy day don't expect to get service with a snap of a finger. They do need to go around and service everyone and put in your order so don't be such a B demanding to be fed. In that case fast food or your kitchen should be the go to place.

Gabrenn A.

Yelp
I go when it's not busy. Service is fast and professional. The lot is huge and I noticed they have no heater or it wasn't on so it was cold inside. Their Chinese Food is TOP Tier compared to other Chinese spots. Portion sizes are plenty and the taste is phenomenal. This is my go to Chinese spot.

A Z.

Yelp
They seated lots of people but didn't have enough food carts to go around. Kept seeing the same dishes so tried to place an order. Almost every person brushed us off saying to just wait. We waited but still didn't get the variety we had hoped for. The shrimp ball batter wasn't cooked all around. The har gow wrappers were broken. Not sure they were ready to handle the demand for that day.
google avatar

Casey W.

Yelp
Soup dumpling are very flavorful and the custard filled bao is steamed and nice and hot! Staff comes around on carts offering different dishes.
google avatar

Ko H.

Yelp
Portion of it was a lot. Waiters and waitresses came back-and-forth water was refilled. However probably won't be going back. We order a plate of chow fun And I swear the celery in it was sour. Should've stopped eating it by then but started picking around it and ate the noodles. Got really sick from it later. Otherwise the food was OK. I will still give it a three out of five. Honey walnut shrimp was great. Our Duck was too salty.

Sactown916 C.

Yelp
They need an English person to take orders. Ordered some food and got double the order.

Anita K.

Yelp
Ordered to go dim sum: pan fried chives and shrimp ( Crystal chive gor) is my favorite, hargow, shu mai, lobster turnover, friend shrimp ball, shrimp dumplings, and beef chow fun. Everything tasted fresh. Chow fun lacked flavor. I ordered there and it was ready in 10 minutes. Friendly service.
google avatar

Diane S.

Yelp
My favorite dim sum to go spot. My personal favorite of all of Sacramento. Service has definitely stepped up! They were SO attentive and nice! This place no longer provides you the "typical" Asian customer service. Was too busy chowing down on our food, no pics . Food is always fresh!
google avatar

Christi S.

Yelp
I came during lunch/dinner time. I did not have dim sum so this is mainly a review on their menu items. Besides that, they were delicious! My party got the salted fish chicken fried rice, roasted duck and black bean chow fun. The salted fish in the fried rice? Why can't all fried rice have salted fish??! It was sooo good!! The black bean beef chow fun was requested in wet sauce, not dry, and it was good. Not too salty, not too overpowering in black bean sauce. Beef was succulent. And the roasted duck was my favorite. It was crisped perfectly and was very lean! It had the least amount of fat in it, which means they really rendered out the fat unlike other establishments. Very yummy. It comes with a sweet soy sauce dip which really pairs well with the duck. (no it's not oyster sauce) It was a fabulous experience. Though not very updated in terms of interior space, it was sufficient enough for an enjoyable time with family. Service was pleasant, waiters are nice and prompt, and prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Contrary to another Dim Sum restaurant close by and other better choices in Sacramento, I do not recommend King Palace. I've been at King Palace several times in the past and always hope for better. Finally, I've decided never to come back. My experience has been long wait times to sit down and receive food, even with tables less than half filled. When receiving food, the waiter's thumb is sometimes touching the food, ruining my appetite. The prices are reasonable but often times they are missing ordered dishes. After all the dishes arrive, I often have to ask, what happened to the other dishes we ordered? The taste is mediocre and rival 3 star restaurants in the area. I don't think I've been sick from the food before so that's a plus... The waiters are not friendly and they don't check up on you. We mostly wave them down or stand up to retrieve our own items such as plates, chopsticks, to go boxes, the tab, etc. To top it off, we always had long wait times to pay for the food lasting from 20-30 minutes.

Yelp
My go to dim sum place in Sacramento. It gets really busy on Sundays so show up early.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
This place needs and overhaul. We used to come here before and they were actually good. But lately, service and quality of food have gone downhill. Dim sum is at best mediocre. Happy Garden around the corner is definitely better. Bathrooms need major remodeling.
google avatar

Clarence L.

Yelp
A perennial favorite when I visit the Sac area. Great variety of fresh dim sum with ingredients you can taste as well as friendly service. Go when it's early and there is no wait.

Tommy C.

Yelp
This place doesn't have enough staff. The food is okay only. A lot of rude workers there.

Phuong N.

Yelp
The food is very good! I like how the service was amazing and how fast they made the food. The ambiance was great and we got our food even if there was a lot of people. I highly recommend King Palace!

Yelp
Dishonest Overcharging Scheme 10/30/21 I like this restaurant's food and the owner is nice. But multiple times I've been suspecting why my bill is always off. The last time I questioned the bill the cashier said those are old menu prices. Ok I let that go. Today I sub totaled my bill with tax and went off the prices from the new menu. I went to the cashier for the bill and watched her ring up each item and they weren't the menu prices. I said that's the wrong price for that item. She said that's with tax. Ok I let that go. Then she sub totals the item and adds tax to it. Caught the cashier lying and overcharging items. I paid and won't be back for awhile until their more honest with the customers. When you hand write each bill in Chinese no ones going to question it being a few x amount dollars off. But when your doing that all day that's very deceptive and dishonest. I know businesses are trying to make up from their bottom line and from the pandemic but that's not the way to do it. So all in all today I paid almost $5 for overcharged items. They've been doing this for a quite awhile and have been getting away with it. So disappointed

Yelp
3.5 stars. Food here is filling with decent flavor but doesn't stand out in a city with so many options and competing restaurants. We had the walnut shrimp, salt and pepper pork, chicken chow fun, and Mongolian beef. The walnut shrimp was probably my favorite. The shrimp were large and juicy. Sauce was good and the walnuts were sweet and crunchy. The beef was my second favorite...it had a nice sauce/gravy to go over my rice. I just wish there were more carrots and less bell peppers. The chow fun was okay...I prefer a darker sauce and more of it. I enjoyed the crunchy fried veggies that accompanied the salt and pepper pork but wasn't wowed by the meat in this dish. The piece I got was hard to chew, slightly overcooked, and not crispy. Maybe the shrimp version of this would work better? The flavor was good so I would try that dish next.

Yelp
Went here for dim sum with my mom in law friends. It looks a little old and probably has been here for quite some time. They come around with carts. The food was pretty good as I enjoyed the egg donuts as they were fresh and the fried shrimp rolls. I did like the pork intestine and the stomach which was really good. I did enjoy the clam porridge too and the noodles. If your stomach can not handle the grease probably not a place for you to go. Unfortunately, all the good items started to come out at around 11:30am before we were leaving as I wanted to try the fried chicken and there was a bacon looking thing I wanted to try. Maybe next time for sure.

Chris W.

Yelp
0 stars for absolutely horrible dimsum, 4 stars for attentive male server, everything in the steam cart were old and mushy, it was 1230pm with only 5 tables, steam cart must be sitting there since 10am when they opened, har gow were tiny, bad texture and skin all stuck together, siu mai were hard and flavorless, chicken feet were shriveled up with a weird taste? Steamed bean curds roll broken in half when picked out of the dish, salt pepper squid uses good quality squid but made by a lousy cook ,it has no salt and white pepper taste, haven't been there for a few years and definitely will not be going back. We ordered a few more dishes besides what I described , they were all bad.

Yelp
My family & I usually only come here for dim sum. We've been going here for years and I believe it's the same owners as Happy Garden. It can be quite busy here during certain times on the weekends and especially busy on Mother's and Father's Day where there would be a wait. Everything here is pretty good. A bunch of items I would recommend are the shu mai, har gow (shrimp dumplings), lo mai gai (sticky rice with chicken), steamed pork ribs, hom sui gok (fried pork dumplings), pan fried turnip cake, fried taro root, noodle rolls (there are different types of meat u can choose from or you can do a plain one with green onions), steamed beef tripe, tofu skin rolls, fried shrimp balls, and I also like the steamed dumplings. You must also order the baos as well such as the steamed or baked BBQ pork buns, coconut or pineapple bun. Items can vary in price depending on the dish. Be sure to use the soy sauce and ask for lemon. I like to mix my soy sauce, lemon, and chili oil together as a dipping. If you can't flag down a waiter, u can go to the back by the kitchen for items such as napkins and u can get the Togo boxes urself. U can also bring ur tab to the front counter to have it calculated.

Yelp
Im glad that they serve dim sum around dinner time. The lady there was very nice and attentive. She even took a picture for me with my S/O. The food was really good. Price wasn't bad either. Will be back soon!
