Yelp
TL DR: this place doesn't have the 5 star decor or the nicest bathrooms but it's one of the few places where you will find authentic Cantonese style dim sum in Sacramento. You will have rolling carts, people shouting in Cantonese, and an authentic experience.
Food:
My favorite thing about this restaurant is the fact that you can order traditional Cantonese style cuisines along with classic dim sum dishes. We normally order a stir fry greens (stir fry pea shoots with garlic), beef chow fun in their gravy sauce, and of course an assortment of dim sum staples.
Elite tip for your first time trying dim sum:
Har gap- shrimp dumpling
Shu Mai - pork, shrimp, type dumpling
Baos - assortment some are sweet like the pine apple bun (bolo bao) they have some with yellow custard and red bean paste. We like the ones with custard.
Char siu bao - bbq pork buns come in two styles steam with a white soft bread or baked with a honey glazed style bun
Dan tat- Egg tarts
If you're feeling more adventurous or that you want to expand upon the basics:
I. chicken feet (phoenix claws) texture isn't everyone's favorite thing as they gelatinous. You can eat the skin and tendons but spit out the bones
II. Tripe (also a texture thing) a light salty ginger flavor profile with the way that it's cooked here
III. Stuffed egg plants and bell peppers - assortment of meat with said vegetable
IV. Deep fried taro puff with meat
V. Bean curd roll
There's plenty of other great items, it's really what you and your party prefer.
Note dim sum isn't a non fat, keto friendly, gluten free type brunch. The meal will be greasy, salty, and what you expect from a traditional dim sum restaurant. Don't forget you have unlimited tea! Also most staff speak:
Cantonese, Vietnamese, and mandarin.
English may be a little limited, but the boss (who is a bad ass if you're watch the way she operates her restaurant) speaks english. I haven't seen anyone have issues ordering thing in English, you can also always point.
I've been to other establishments and while their bathrooms are nicer/newer or they have more modern decor the flavor has remained the most authentic in Sacramento. You need to give this place a try if you're looking for dim sum!
