Grocery Store Safety: Which Chains Are Doing It Best? | Eater

"Emergency leave guidelines provide up to 14 days of paid sick leave for employees diagnosed with COVID-19 or placed under quarantine; beyond that, workers may use accrued PTO or short-term disability. The company moved from a modest initial response (a $25 gift card) to larger one-time bonuses ($300 full-time/$150 part-time), implemented a $2/hour hazard pay that expired in mid-May, and then issued staggered “thank you” bonuses (e.g., $400/$200). Safety measures include plexiglass shields, distancing floor decals, temperature checks, and required masks for employees while customer mask use is encouraged. Experiences vary widely: some stores report strict cleaning schedules and adequate PPE, while others struggle to maintain cleaning during large deliveries and have unreliable temperature scans; the company also faced backlash after mistakenly requesting repayment of an overpaid emergency amount and reversed course. A longtime employee at a Denver location was among the tragic COVID-19 fatalities that drew attention to store-level risk and notification gaps." - Rachel Sugar

You want the downtown grocery shopping experience of Denver, but don't want all the homeless raids? Capital Hill King Soopers has you covered! With the same tight aisles, limited product space, quationable building supports, and locked cases galore. This King Soopers has what you compromise on with a tinge of hipster, better-than-you attitudes of not just the workforce, but the shoppers as well. Just proper for when you feel good about yourself, and needed to change it.

Google
I get that you’re all just doing your job but I find it insane to have not one, but TWO armed security guards walk out and hover over me while I’m picking up my PREPAID ORDER from the online pickup lockers. I paid for my groceries in full, I’m not even entering the store, what are you worried about me stealing? A cart? I don’t have a problem showing my receipt and wouldn’t mind if you asked to see the confirmation text or something but it feels like these dudes just want a power trip. I used to enjoy going to the grocery store now it just feels like a prison, seems to be getting worse every month. The customer service people are very nice and accommodating though so 2 stars

Google
I was recently denied entry because I had a small bag with me mind you I use this bag for my groceries. I don’t want to be charged an extra fee for bags so I bring my own with me and to be told that I can’t enter the store with my bag is frustrating. I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years and this location specifically has gone downhill. I was able to speak with a manager And bring my bag with me however, it’s just frustrating the hoops you have to jump through to buy groceries if you need a convenient place to buy groceries, this isn’t it. There is a Safeway two blocks from this location. Customer service is excellent and security isn’t gonna harass you.

I've been going to this KS for almost 3 years now. The workers are always friendly and helpful, especially given that they work in a busy location with a large amount of tasks to be done at any given time. They probably could hire more staff to support their team and pay better given the specifics of this particular location. I think all staff are doing the absolute best they can do with what they are given. Lastly, the store is always clean and organized, though again, it's a busy store so things get shuffled around by customers here and there. At the end of the day, I appreciate the time and effort that the staff give and I feel very supported as a regular customer.

Google
Local King Soopers fore always smile and greet me and my wife by name and are always super friendly. Actually enjoy going shopping if you can believe that. My dogs are always with me and everybody just loves to see us coming. Should check them out if your ever over by Sheridan and 17th.

Google
Shopped. Filled the cart. Went to self check out. Checked out in full view of FOUR CAMERAS, TWO SECURITY GUARDS, AND THREE STAFF. For some reason, the security guard at the door wants to see everyone's receipt when exiting. I gave him the receipt for $150 in goods that I bagged right under his nose while he watched me specifically. Maybe he didn't like that I AM DISABLED, USE A CANE, AND WEAR A FACE MASK in this fifth year of a deadly global pandemic. Never have I received so hairy an eyeball. This guy was putting STINK into his glare while he held my receipt. This guy needs a new job; he's clearly too reactive and paranoid to preserve a sense of safety.

Google
This location is usually congested, and seem to be understaffed, but have a plentiful amount of rent a cops. I'm not sure what crimes or attempted crimes have been committed here, but obviously there have been some issues in the past because it pretty much seems like a county jail, not a grocery store. Also staff seems to be fairly "conditioned" to the environment as well and to put it nicely, seem a bit more production focused rather than customer service focused... Not the best King Soopers location in my opinion, but definitely not the worst either. If you go here, plan on adding some time to your trip and be ready to exercise your patience navigating through the overcrowded aisles.

Google
It’s 6:45 in the morning. I bought a quart of milk. I was the only person in the self checkout. The security guard watched me scan and pay for it. There’s no reason to treat me like a common criminal and have the security guard ask me to see my receipt. I’ll go to Whole Foods next time and pay an extra fifty cents not to be harassed. It’s unnecessary. Alienating. And treating your customers like that is bad business.

Yelp
In spite of the strike going on here, this store still provides excellent customer service. This Kings is walking distance from my apartment.

Yelp
I used to stop by this store for small ingredients like green onions or garlic, but I've stopped coming entirely. The produce and vegetables are rarely rotated--most of the garlic, ginger, and fruit are spoiled or brown. Shallots are almost always out, and when they are in stock, they're bad. I also no longer buy chicken or ground beef here because the quality is consistently poor. The security staff make shopping unpleasant. Even as a regular customer who comes in multiple times a week, I'm constantly asked for receipts. While I understand it's store policy, the way it's enforced feels antagonistic rather than protective. Security also seems disengaged--they text at the front, slam items on the ground, and display unnecessary rudeness toward customers. Self-checkout is frustrating too, often flagging you for errors or implying theft for simple mistakes. Additionally, the store layout and operations are concerning. Delivery trucks aren't attentive and sometimes pull too close to sidewalks, which creates safety hazards. Staff attitudes, especially overnight, are unprofessional and make the environment tense. I used to value this store for convenience, but with poor product quality, unfriendly staff, and unsafe practices, I now shop elsewhere. King Soopers really needs to improve produce rotation, staff training, and overall customer service.

Yelp
The groceries many times are old, they don't remove the bad fruits from.the tdisplay area. The customer service is horrible specially in the Customer Service department and the pharmacy, their employees are rude. The manager also, he discriminates people. I had a bad experience trying to send money and because I was short $17, they refuse to do my transaction stating that could be fraud. I was sending $230!!

Yelp
Bad parking lot, bad selection, bad and lazy staff. Cashier Robyn has a nasty attitude

Yelp
Worst self checkout, scanners imaginable. I ended up just walking out halfway through my basket. Not convenient whatsoever.

Tim W.

Yelp
I go there all the time and its usually good enough but this morning Jackie who I don't know at all soaked my e-bike while watering the plants. Jackie could have been careful and easily avoided that but didn't. It was locked to the bike rack west of the patio. I said "thanks for soaking my e-bike". Nothing! Not sorry, or can I get you some paper towels--nothing. Jackie just went on talking about her drama to a coworker. I went in, and complained a supervisor who went out and spoke to Jackie for a second. Then I walked out of the store, past Jackie, still nothing, just a side ways half smirk. WTF?

Yelp
Worst King Soopers in Denver. After checking out in self checkout and having the security guard watch me buy all my items and then proceed to the exit, with my hands full because they never have bags, and the security guard stands in my face and tells me to give a receipt. I said it's at register 6 and nodded towards the register that you can see the receipt hanging. He refused to let me through the door before the king soopers lady went and grabbed it and handed it to him. After realizing he is a f****** bitch and I payed for everything he shoulder checked me as I walked through the door. FUCK THIS STORE!

Yelp
Good overall. I just wish there was more help with bagging the groceries. Overall experience good and price decent considering the inflation we are dealing with right now.

Yelp
I have recently was informed by Instant Cart that King Soopers has a markup on items for delivery. My in-store receipt was for $189.54. The amount debited to my checking account was for $268.00. Less delivery fee, taxes and gratuity it should have been around $220.00. That means that the item mark-up for delivery items was close to $50.00 for $189.54 order! I recently had surgery and had to rely on delivery. This is an obscene example of Corporate greed and a driver of inflation! They have lost a valued customer. Shame on them!

Yelp
This King soopers at 9th and corona has a lot of great hard working employees, but at night time the last hour of being open it becomes a comedy show. They tell you how many minutes they are open every 35 seconds for the entire hour. Normally I just laugh because there's like 10 people in the store and we are all there to pick up one or two things and head out in 5 mins or less. However tonight was the first time I got there 18 mins before they close at 11pm and the doors were locked. Had to wait three minutes in the 21 degree weather for some people to be let out by the employee with the half mullet and glasses to begrudgingly let me in and say hurry up we're closing. I have worked in hospitality for 20 years so I know that it sucks when it's late and you want to go home, but try working at a bar till 2am closing where you can't lock the doors and it takes 1-2 hours of work afterwards and get back to me about locking your doors before you're closed at 11pm. If your hours say open you can't lock your doors and waste people's time. I would think especially not at a corporation owned chain, but who knows these days! Ps- also if something is out of stock on the shelves here it won't be restocked again until they are closed and the night time crew stock the shelves for the next day. Good luck asking if anyone will get you anything out of the back lmao...

Yelp
This message is for all those people whom I just hear complains about no carts.Okay for a reason they don't have carts not sure if you seen all those homeless people taking carts from everywhere. There is no more respect in this world lots of grocery stores have been worsen because of vandalism and because of that we can't have good stuff anymore! So learn to deal with it! As well as the plastic bags besides trying to be good for the World I am sure they took them off too because you just see them everywhere in the streets specifically in Denver, trash everywhere and specially plastic bags! And lastly the service could be better but people make employees the way they are! You see them miserable think how many people go and complain and yell at them there is no such thing anymore about a simple "thank you" or a simple "have a blessed day"! Everything is just about complains and Karen's! So understand them too!

Yelp
Can't keep up with Kroger's regional name changes. This location is central to the metro area with a parking lot. Signs of its popularity are found on some of the shelves, which needs restocking. Oddly it is a large market, but feels cramped. It also needs to be maintained better. Prices are decent but sometimes sales items, surprise, have been cleaned out. Joining their membership leads to discounts and fuel points. It is sometimes jarring to find out you don't get membership prices as certain items require DIGITAL coupons which you download with your online account.

Vanessa B.

Yelp
I like King Soopers, good selection of food, veg and fruit always fresh. The only negative is sometimes the store seems to be a bit understaffed.

Sarah D.

Yelp
Delivery service is awful. I've been using it for a year and it has been so bad the last 3 months. I'm leaving. They forget items, charge for them and then you can't get your money back because their app won't allow it; instead, you have to spend two and a half hours on the phone with them, for which they give you $15 even though you've waited 12 hours for your delivery. This has happened twice in 3 weeks. After the second time it happened, they have Frozen my account and won't give me back the money for items that have not been delivered or for items that were damaged when everything was dropped down the stairs when they were delivering them. This has happened so many times and I really can't believe this is something American grocers is supporting. They go into your bank account two days after you've placed your order and charge you for the items that were on sale when you placed and paid for your order. That's criminal! I do have photos and screen recordings(I have personal information in them so I won't put them here but if others are experiencing the same thing, something should be figured out). Check your bank accounts Wednesdays and Thursdays, if you have shopped and paid on Tuesdays. -Even if you've paid with only a gift card. American Grocers' King Soopers will go into your other saved payments and take your money. They took 23 out dollars out on Thursday for an order that shopped and paid for 2 days prior. Then they forgot for the second week in a row, two bottles of vitamin C and brought two damaged 32 oz yogurts that they dropped down the stairs and still delivered to me. I have ring alarm. The yogurt is oozing out. They still delivered it. It was on their hands. I have a note on my door asking them to please put my groceries on the mat in front of my door. They placed them across the hall on my neighbor's doormat. There is absolutely no one to give feedback to oet help from. I have written them so many times and they have not written back or called I have giving them my phone number and asked them to call in my letters and calls to customer service. Who has the time to deal with Americans Grocers Customer service agents don't know what to tell me other than that since the sale prices change on wednesdays, they can charge for whatever they have changed prices to on wednesdays. So if you have a delivery account, do not make any orders on tuesdays. Who has the time to deal with American Grocers? Let alone the money?

Brenda T.

Yelp
Everything says they close at 11pm, but if you get there at 1045pm, a "security"-likely-outsourced-employee-from-a-third-party-vendor stands in the way of the doors to tell you "NO", they are closed and that it's a new policy. This is super odd. A few weeks ago, these "security" people were checking receipts at the door. Are we Wal Mart now? Funny part is he watched me check out 15 feet away. Is this store going downhill? Why all these new policies that treat your longtime customers like liars, thieves and less than. I'll take my "less than" butt elsewhere if this disrespect continues.

A T.

Yelp
Bait and switch, everytime. Every time I shop at King Soopers, whether its the Cap Hill location or any other one, the prices are frequently different on the shelf than they are at the register. And it's never in the customer's favor. The produce especially rings up wrong all the time! That's not even for the digital coupon stuff, that just for card member items. Their price tags are always misleading as well, with the digital coupon disclaimer somewhere small and tiny. So you see $.99 /lb all big and bright, but they have the digital coupon disclaimer in minuscule font. They do this because they *know* that people are going to miss that digital coupon part and collect the money based on a tricky and misleading tactic. Then, when you catch the wrong price after you've been charged, the customer service person acts like they're doing you a favor to right the wrongs. I've been met with suspicion when I try to mention that I've been overcharged. I am really very tired of it!

Kolin B.

Yelp
Give zero stars if I could. The customer service cashier, Paula is a terrible and unfriendly human being. So rude, will never come back because of her. Learn how to be hospitable, Paula.
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
Horrible location. It's always busy but they never have and small carts or hand baskets to shop. I walked around gathering as much as i could carry and made the mistake of getting in an actual line with a cashier. I swear I'm trained better to self checkout than the actual employees. I stood second in line for 5 minutes behind some woman who had to have 2 transactions. One was just 2 damn items. A cashier came on next to my extremely slow lane but I couldn't grab my items to move over. And then the cashier in my lane moves to another checkout with idiot lady and her multiple transactions. I finally just walked out. Horrible customer service unless you basically do everything from start to finish. I see why there are so many self checkout lanes. They either hire idiots or don't train them at all. Of course managers are just standing around doing absolutely nothing.

Yelp
This king scoopers is great, live in Capitol Hill and love that it's only two blocks away, but the thing is, sometimes the parking lot is packed so you have to drive around the small parking lot like 5 times just to wait for an empty spot. Other than that, sometimes shelves are picked clean and holiday markets in store like Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc, the so called 'market' is so small. And on the other side they only have candy, which im alright with. But the market is so small that only 2 5,5 people can fit in the holiday market. Overall this is a pretty good king soopers, some stuff is just randomly put in places, like one time I found chocolate in the book section, and all of that. I know retail is hard, but kick up your game guys. I also found eggs in the candy section and a jalapeño pepper in the like stuffed animals part of an aisle, and the hair dye selection there is really limited. It's either temporary colored hair spray or permanent natural hair colors. But this king soopers is great, nice people, good products, all of that.

Yelp
A big store that serves the neighborhood - it's known as "Queen Soopers. When in this neighborhood we stop in.

Yelp
I shopped today at the store at 890 S Monaco Parkway, Denver, CO. I was surprised to find no shopping carts in the store. I went out to the parking lot and found one. I latter used the rest room and found no soap in the soap dispenser. There was no hand sanitizer. So I assume that employees use the rest room and then go out and handle produce and groceries without washing their hands with soap and water. I mentioned this to one of the employees who said there is no soap because they are short staffed. It is unacceptable for employees to not wash their hands with soap and water after using the restroom.

Daniel H.

Yelp
Foods not as fresh, no wet floor signs. Saw clear soap on the ground spilled, nearly slipped over it. Told manager, manager told me to get bent.

Logan Z.

Yelp
I went to buy 2 percent milk, when I went to the milk spot there was NO TWO PERCENT MILK and I was very upset because I had. family to feed and I also like to put those in my latte. have more milk. 1 star.

Yelp
I mean it's not the cleanest grocery store but the staff is very friendly and they always have all of the self check outs open so that is great! Also, they open early so you can go before work. The guy who works the self check out hussles too.

Yelp
Some kind people working in this store! My mask fell apart yesterday and I forgot all about it when I came shopping here today. A person at the deli counter noticed I felt uncomfortable without a mask and he walked out of the counter and handed me a new mask! I was just picking up sliced Muenster and Lacey Swiss cheeses and Old Fashioned mini Pecan Pie by that counter, all delicious and fresh in this store. I order occasionally sandwiches at the deli and I also appreciate its over-the-counter conveniences coming with them, napkins and packaged plastic cutlery. I like cooking my own meals and always come here for fresh produce - organic SmartChicken breast fillets, organic cauliflower, squashes, carrots, apples, apricots, pears, oranges and great selection of affordable fresh, sweet berries. I prefer organic Persian or mini-cucumbers to large sized cucumbers but I've seen those only once in this store. My another favorite section here is its variety bulk items with a self-serve scale that now conveniently prints out a label to ease going fast through a checkout line. Nuts selection is great here!
google avatar

Nick W.

Yelp
I do not work here. I am not paid when I show up here. It's unacceptable that I am made to check myself out because there is just one single person working the checkout, and his line is 15+ people long. Not only do I have to scan and bag groceries off the clock, but I have to wait in line for upward of 5 minutes to do so because hardly half the self-checkouts are functioning. This has been my go-to grocery store since I moved to Denver, but service here has become not just unacceptable, but frankly non-existent. I will be an exclusive patron of Trader Joe's until this ridiculous cost-saving measure is fixed. Love them little popcorn chicken things at the deli tho. I'll miss those.

Yelp
We love this place! My friend is always treated like a queen whenever we come into this store. Today on Valentine's Day the staff made her feel extra special with a bouquet of flowers and a heart Starbucks cup (Starbucks cups are her favorite thing you have no idea). Thank you to Laurie, Marlene, and Evelyn for making her day, and most days!

Jay C.

Yelp
I guess I should check expiry dates more closely on my own. I purchased rotten lettuce on Nov 28 that had expired three weeks prior.

Laurel P.

Yelp
This review is for the pharmacy. I made an appointment for a flu shot even tho the website and signage in the store says walk in flu shots welcome. My appointment was 3:45. I was in the area sooner than expected around 2. I went the pharmacy and asked if they did flu shots. The girl at the desks if I'm a walk in or appointment. I say appointment. She says sorry I have to wait for my appointment time. I ask well if I cancel my appointment time can I become a walk in flu shot and get my shot now? She said no. I mean I know I made an appointment, but wow. I ended up getting amazing and friendly service from Safeway who didn't make me seem like a burden for asking for an advertised product.
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
I've been wanting to write this review for a while now. King Soopers is very close to me and fairly cheap which is why I choose to ever shop there. That being said, you certainly get what you pay for (or worse). Yesterday's beef was absurdly tough, gray on the bottom and freezer burnt to the point where it no longer tasted like meat. Whoever checks the quality of the produce has no idea what they're doing. Fruits bruised beyond recognition, fruit flys on occasion, and on one visit I found shallots so rotten that they oozed trash smelling juice when picked up. The self checkout aisle has a weight check mechanism which, in theory, would prevent theft but in reality goes off at random and stalls your checkout time. Because this happens so frequently, the employees will unlock the machine without checking any bags which defeats the point (though I can't blame them, if they checked everyone the line would wrap around the building). I'm giving it two stars because the dried foods, dairy, etc are fine quality and low price. Despite other complaints I've seen here, I personally think the staff are quite friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Graham W.

Yelp
One Star for the pharmacy. It's so incredibly slow that it's actually quicker for me to just go to a different King Soopers that is farther from my house, than this one that is closer. Absolutely atrocious service.

Yelp
Their rice had weevils in it and I had to throw away half my pantry for it also their employees have "forgotten" to put in my rewards card twice

Yelp
After a really awful experience at Safeway where customer service clearly doesn't exist I came here to handle a Western Union matter and do some grocery shopping to restock my moms place after being out of town for a while. The gentleman at customer service was always there (didn't have to call and wait for someone to come over) and helped me 3 separate times as Western Union give me a bit of a run around to pick up some money I sent that was no longer needed on the other end. After that I had a very pleasant shopping experience and loaded my cart. The gentleman who rang me up made sure that I benefited from the store loyalty discount pricing even though I'm from out of state and did not have a King Soopers card already. Clean and bright store, lots of healthy options- would recommend !

Jeff H.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood grocery store. And for the most part I really do love the Queen Soopers. It's true that sometimes the store shelves can be a bit unstocked and the produce can be a bit picked through. And the guy that I believed to be the produce manager, clearly doesn't care that much about produce, as I have routinely witnessed him throwing items from a distance. ((I prefer not to have my produce bruised.) It's almost as if he doesn't like vegetables.)) But forget that guy and whatever his existential life problems are. I just wanted to take a moment to say that I came by the deli department today and Ashley was an absolute gem. I have worked counter service and at a deli in a grocery store back home. I know that people can be brusque on both sides of the counter, and Ashley was warm and genuine. She asked me if I would like to sample the roast beef that she was slicing, I asked her if she knew that I was ravenously hungry, and she said no that's what we are supposed to do. That's a first for me. Thank you for keeping up store standards and being a kind human.

Yelp
**No Worries**....I was concerned about my new digital coupons but Nicole, one of the many of King's fine cashiers, accounted for all of them. Thanks Nicole, you're the best!!

Yelp
This grocery store has the best prices in the vicinity but I am glad they have self-check out, because dealing with the employees can be kinda meh. Got in a minor argument with one that smelled like she'd been drinking beer behind the dumpster over a sale priced avocado rang up with the organic code instead of the normal pesticide gmo one. Watched the attendant key in five digits twice and the avocado still cost $3.50 instead of $.99. Before another employee de-escalated her and adjusted it to the advertised price, she started getting really loud and insisting she put in the right code. The next time we saw this particular employee who had an English or Australian accent, she still smelled like booze and led us to the assumption that King Sooper's allows employees to drink on the job. I have witnessed my husband experience racist interactions at this store. Once while he was in line at customer service to buy a money order, I finished my purchase and watched an older white woman being very rude to him. There was only one person behind him, another older white woman, and the employee proceeded to ask her what she needed just as my husband got to the counter. On another occasion, we were there at night and had to use the bathroom. To be fair, my attempt to use the bathroom was immediately thwarted by the two homeless women camped out in each stall. When my husband tried to use the men's room, they were in the middle of evicting everybody. The on duty manager started yelling "Restrooms are for customers only! You gotta buy something." My husband said, "I'm here shopping with my wife, she's right there." I had already paid for the items we came to the store for and had the bags in my hand but the manager kept repeating himself. My husband got a kick out of his name tag, which said "Master. "

Yelp
Man, I wish I could give no stars. What a shit show this store is. No parking, no carts. All the time. A tiny smattering of parking spots (enjoy riding round and round and round forever), or you can park across the street where the carts won't go. Good luck to you if you bought a lot, you'll be carrying it across Corona. The aisles are extremely narrow and if they're stocking (which they seem to do at really busy times, for some reason), good luck getting down the aisles. Only shop here if you hate yourself.

Yelp
This is unfortunately our neighborhood King Soopers. I am and always have been, loyal to Kroger grocery stores but this one makes me want to go to the Safeway two blocks away. It's not kept up very well, there are frequently dodgey homeless people outside, the produce is never super great and is alwayssss picked over, and the male manager is bizarre. It is better than the Kings on Speer closer to downtown but not nearly as nice as the Kings off Leetsdale closer to Glendale. I continue to shop here as it is most convenient but I don't enjoy coming here.

Yelp
Money service hours until 8pm go at 5:30pm can't even get acknowledged by anyone who works in the store.

Yelp
Wait 25 minutes to park, 15 minutes for a cart, only to shop empty shelves. Most grocery stores are bad, but this one especially

Yelp
I really love King Soopers, but I don't love this location. Its a few blocks down from my apartment though so it is most convenient for me. The selection is scarce. They don't seem to have a lot of staples and the stocking is not always kept up with and it takes them a while to stock it. The parking is really rough. This location is right by Cheesman Park and very busy all the time. Luckily I walk or else parking would be a very frustrating time and I might not stay and shop. But that's just city parking in general. The employees are kind and helpful for the most part. King Soopers does seem to always have the best prices, which is the main reason why I shop here.

Yelp
I live basically across the street so I go almost everyday to get fresh food. Okay, and cigarettes. And occasionally junk food type snacks. Everyone's pretty nice. I've never had a problem. It's fun to people watch in the parking lot. I have nothing bad to say about the Queen Soops. It's organized, clean, convenient, good prices, and everyone is the normal amount of nice! I live next door so I kinda have to say I'll keep coming back but I think I still would choose this one even if I lived farther, simply because it has the best vibe. I will say I hate that it's not 24/7 anymore. And the pst couple of weeks due to construction and then changing/updating their signs it was a pain in the ass but it won't stop me from coming.

Yelp
King Soopers is the closest grocery store to us on North College in Fort Collins, CO. There have been improvements from last year in accessing the store carts. Last year you often had to get one from the lot. The carts were in filthy and in terrible shape and the damaged wheels would thump - thump along as you strolled. Things have improved a since then. The people at the self checkout lines are generally very nice and accommodating. The people in the lines are usually abrupt and grumpy so we try to avoid them. The big irk we have with King Soopers is the prices are high and always getting higher. There produce is no different than any other stores regardless of their annoying ads on TV. It's disappointing when you have to pay $8.99 for a Marie Callandar pie at King Soopers but they are $6.89 at Walmart. This is typical of many products. So they lose out on our business.

Yelp
Specifically for the pharmacy: I have never seen a more inefficient and ridiculously run place in my life. I've been living in this neighborhood for 8 years and think I have to give up on the Queen Soopers pharmacy for their complete lack of professionalism and care when speaking with customers. I've been yelled at for calling multiple times in a week to check where my pain meds are. "We have a shortage. I don't know what to tell you," the girl on the phone snapped at me. I asked if I should try another pharmacy to get them filled if they were going to take longer with it and she made it seem like I was being rude by calling once a day for five days to ask when the prescription would be filled when I was told that it would be ready the following day when I dropped it off. Being treated like you're drug seeking when you're just trying to get a pain med that you need to function filled is terrible. Before I left on a trip, I was given a new prescription. Had it filled for 90 days to deal with the pharmacy less and they only had enough to fill 30 days. Fine. I can pick up the rest when I'm back. Apparently they took that as I don't need the whole prescription filled and billed it as 30 day supply when it was written for 90. Since it was filled for 30 days, I now wasn't eligible for a refill until next year, meaning new deductible and completely out of pocket until I hit that. Without my consent, without my doctors consent, and without informing me, they changed my care. The girl eventually re-billed it and I was able to get it filled but had to call to see if it was done and it wasn't in the system so girl 1 asks girl 2 what is going on. Why isn't this in the system? Why isn't that documented? Why do I always have to call to see if things are going to be done correctly or in some half-assed way? I filed a complaint earlier this year but I'm sure it went in the circular file, just like this will go ignored. But if you're looking for a pharmacy and need more than an occasional antibiotic, find another location. They're too busy to care about people and it shows everywhere.

Yelp
Salmon. Rice. Asparagus. Mega stuffed Oreos. Milk. Eggs. Berries. I still need the berries for my yogurt. I wander the store filled with people who both don't try to smell like trash and people who deliberately try to smell like trash. It completes the look, I'm not sure. I'm an old man at 28 and I can't keep up with these youngins. As my mind races through an ageist diatribe I walk into the most heavenly smell; the flower/produce section smell amazingly. Seriously. I'm not sure if they're pumping smells, they got a glade plug it in plug it in, the flowers be smelling extra smells but it is fantastic. I'll be back for sure just for some beautiful smells alone.

Yelp
If nothing else, I was surprised to see this pop up on my map, and even more surprised to see it in person. I thought surely the map was wrong, as I trekked across the neighborhood to chase down the map pointer. But there it was. A bastion of food and beverage in the 'burbs. A house of food hope in the 'hood. A veritable villa of veggies and vittles with vecinos. I wasn't actually after food. No, I came in search of flowers. And I've found that grocery stores are hit or miss in the floral department. Outside of temperate climates the lilies are often terrible. Sadly they're not great here. But the roses were solid, and when you cone over for a sinner party, they make the perfect gift. Parking was very not awesome on a weekend night, but what else is new? For me, I was just happily surprised that it exists here in neighborhoodland.

Yelp
This review is for the pharmacy. The younger lady with the black hair that was up in a bun, was so rude. I don't know how she's in customer service or yet works for a pharmacy. I would avoid going there while she's working.

Yelp
This is a cramped, busy urban grocery store smack dab in Capitol Hill. Other locations on Leetsdale and in Stapleton are nicer and bigger and generally have better selection of goods. However today I'm giving this place a 5 star rating because a young man, Emmanuel in check out #2, saw I was unhappy with an interaction I had in the self checkout line which is how I ended up in his line. He took the initiative to get a price check on an item instead of telling me I had to go myself to obtain the price on a pound of packaged ground turkey the meat department had not tagged. This was intuitive customer service. Thanks for helping a frustrated customer. I appreciate your kindness.
