Yelp
I'm sorry to say this, but this was by far the most disappointing spa/sauna experience I've ever had in my life. It was so bad that I went out of my way to write this review on my computer, because it truly required an in depth review on why I rated this place 2 out of 5 stars.
For starters, I would like to say that King Spa has definitely changed a lot than what it used to be 5 years ago, and it didn't change in a good way. It used to be a very relaxing, high quality, and well kept up place to just relax for the day. The food used to be so good (I'll go into depth why that changed), the staff was efficient, flow of business made sense, the saunas had adequate space for everyone, and the overall treatment of the guest were much better.
The main attraction, the spas and sauna. The first thing you do is head into the bathing area (men and women sides). I will say if you never have been to a traditional bath house, it will be a little bit of an uncomfortable experience. However, you quickly get used to it and can enjoy the amenities. Now, they offer hot tubs, wet saunas, cold tubs and massage areas. Overall, the entire bath house felt like a normal LifeTime locker room. Almost the same setup, which was disappointing because the $70 ticket price, you'd think you get a little more. For one, the products offered by the hair dryers and mirrors are really low quality. For a spa/sauna, you'd think they at least offer a few skin care products or at least not generic LA sports gel for your hair.
Anyways, the experience in the bath house isn't all that bad. You get yourself clean and relaxed before the sauna. I suggest you bring your own toiletries bag of body wash, shampoo, conditioner and your other personal care products because the ones they offer are terrible. Another issue I had was the cold tub. Wasn't even cold, but more like a chilled pool, not what I was expecting. Finally the massages, they seem great but was not worth the price. It was something absurd like $100 for 40 mins and $140 for 70 mins which is wild.
Now the 6 different dry saunas, they were all pretty clean and good to use. Where the problem came was how this establishment did not limit the number of patrons in the business. I get it, you want to get as many customers as possible because more people equals more profits. However, their facilities I would say can comfortably fit 100 people max. When my gf and I were there last night there was like 250-300 people in there. Given it was a Saturday night, and we knew it was going to be packed, but my goodness it was way too many people. Sauna rooms were filled to the brim, people waiting for nearly every single one, and since so many people kept going in and out. The temperatures never really regulated in the rooms so you couldn't get a consistent sauna experience.
Overall, the saunas, ice room, oxygen rooms were all nice. But for the amount of people that were there last night, it made it all feel so claustrophobic being shoulder to shoulder with people and sweating. We could never get a couch spot in the lobby, no place to sit in dining, and no spaces in their oxygen rooms.
Finally, the worst part of it all was the food. My god. For a place that used to have such good food, I have never been so angry and pissed for the prices I paid and the quality I got back. Long story short, I would've settled for a mcchicken over their food, and I will tell you why.
King Spa now offers 98 different menu items. Like why in the hell does a business offer that many items. It's not a giant kitchen by the way, so no way the quality control of food was up kept with 98 different items being ordered. And safe to say, it wasn't. My gf and I ordered the sauna eggs, two bubble teas, a sparking water, redbull, seasoned fries, a japanese shrimp tempura curry udon, and a shrimp stir fry udon for a total of $103. I understood that for this business, the prices reflected an amusement park like price tag and I was ok with it. I assumed for a high price, at least the food would be good but I was so wrong. I repeat. Nothing I ate there was remotely good.
The bubble teas. Jesus those were terrible. Water downed, more than half the cup was ice, and the flavoring was like so artificial but like bland. We got the mango and taro bubble teas and they didn't even taste like their respective fruits/roots. You would taste mango for like a second then just watered down swill. The taro was no better.
The eggs were ok. Wanted them a little more roasted but they were cooked so surprisingly, they were the only edible things.
What was crazy was the portions. We paid $9 for seasoned fries and I kid you not, they gave us like 15 fries. It was a giant platter and the fries barely filled the tray. It was so disappointing and truly felt like I got robbed of my hard earned money.
The rest of my review is a screen shot cause I hit my word limit. I didn't bring my phone, so I apologize for the lack of photos.
