"Founded by Raul Martínez in 1974, King Taco was one of the first to serve Mexico City-style al pastor in Los Angeles using adobo-marinated pork cooked on a vertical spit. The chain also popularized the concept of serving tacos from catering trucks." - Bill Esparza

This king taco is right in front of the train station. The environment is so great outside in the eating area. The food was amazing and the workers are friendly. Will definitely come back Rosa is amazing.

Best food Ever. I like this new chicken tinga they have and the tacos of chicharron are 🔥. They always hook me up with big cups of the Red Chile... My fave 😍

Google
Place has lost its way. Meat quality isn't the same, I got several tendon pieces in my carne asada burrito. The rice and beans didn't have much flavor and the flour tortilla is barely heated. Their "aguas frescas" don't taste authentic as they probably use artificial sweeteners. You have to make sure you get utensils, napkins and straws at the pick up windows or you make multiple trips if u forget things. To be honest, there's better places now.

Came in for a late night snack. We had tried a lot of things, carnitas, asada, pastor tacos, and quesadilla with carnitas and asada burritos. We also tried the horchata and champurrado. Of the top, I can say my favorite meats here are the pastor and carnitas. The asada wasn't the best and had a lot of fatty pieces, in my opinion. The horchata was OK, and the champurrado was actually really good. Overall, I liked it, but I wish there were more ingredients like sour cream. The nachos would be better with beans and jalapeños, and lastly, there are no limes.

King Taco is always crowded because they don't hire enough people so the wait is long, they need to deal with this or the reviews will suffer. Parking is easy in the lot. You go in, wait in line, order at the counter and pick up your food there. Most everything is great. Don't get to fancy, stick with the tacos and burritos. They are the best. They are served to order, hot and ever so good. The service is very nice, but don't expect table service. The place is super clean and is open late, which we love. King Taco has been around for years and many of us have been going there since we were kids. You will love this place. It is cute. It is fast food made really well.

Google
Food is always great service varies sometimes there good and sometimes you got to repeat your order to the cashier and to the people on the pick up window cause the don't seem to share the same information which sticks cause they don't have the food ready when their calling up people to get their food they need to step it up. Service sucks food is great.

Google
Bummer! Went to the OG truck that had a smaller line than at the window, bought a few burritos 🌯 there when we opened them at home, they were drenched in red sauce. I can understand some heat, but these were so over the top! They weren't free, so we did our best to consume them. Won't be doing that again.

Great food have not been here like in 30 years

Yelp
This is the OG King Taco spot that I've been coming for years. The staff is always welcoming, polite, and attentive. The place is usually bustling especially on weekends. As for the tacos, they're thee best around, always fresh, delicious, and meats are seasoned perfectly. They also have other food items like tamales and rotisserie chicken, also very good. This is my favorite taco spot and it's been just that for many years, King Taco is an LA icon!!

Yelp
Holiday time Review: - if you're coming during the holidays, please note that they do close early at usually 3 PM. So don't be late because they will cut people off and won't be allowing orders anymore after they close the windows. They also RUN OUT of TAMALES during holidays so there's not much to order during holidays unless you planned ahead. - Staff is nice but my tacos are WAYYY slimmer in meat compared to King Taco in Bellflower which I had literally just gone to 2 hrs prior -- also prices here are actually more pricey than other locations. - Tip: don't stand near that overhead window vent while waiting bc you'll smell like taco / grill :)

Yelp
Beware of getting limes denied when you ask for some. The other day our family ordered 4 menudos and they gave us half a lime for each plate. Well the limes were so so dry, that none of us got a droplet of lime juice from the limes that were given to us when we squeezed them, so I had my husband to go ask for more. He came back right away and told me that they don't give limes out anymore. I said hold my drink, and walked to the area where you pick up your food and asked one of the guys that was handling the food for lime, he looks at me and says "for what?" I said "to eat with my food!" He said "we don't give out limes!" And I said to him "that's not my problem, you better figure something out because none of the limes we got with our food have any juice in it, they're all super dry!" Then he says "ok, wait here, I have to go ask my manager for limes" so he walked away and went into some door behind the cashier and came out with a bunch of lime. This review might seem petty but we paid for so much food, we also pay for service, and the least you can do is cut up an extra lime and hand it to the customer, not question why you want it or need it. I don't think it's coming out of their paycheck (and honestly this kinda reminds me of the times you asked for ketchup at McDonald's and the employees would fight you for them) This has already happened at two king taco locations and it's embarrassing having the people in line hear you asking for something and being questioned on top. It's not like their food is the most amazing food ever, because it isn't. But at least treat your customers right, because it's not our fault that we pay for the food and want to blame us for their shortages. That's why their prices are so high for the kind of food it is. It's ridiculous.

Kevin A.

Yelp
The food is top notch authentic and really really reasonably priced. The service was very welcoming. If you're looking for some of the best tamales in LA it's a must stop.

Anton F.

Yelp
Back again for Taco Tuesday and just as good as usual. Tried the tinga chicken menu special, very good

David A.

Yelp
King taco is one of my favorite places to eat. The customer service is always on point and the atmosphere is amazing. I miss coming here after dodger games!

Yelp
-Pina Grande Con Hielo $3.75 -Burro Asada Con Todo 8.59 -Taco Carnitas $2.19 -Taco Asada $2.19 -Sope Asada $4.65 -Taco Chicharron $2.19 You can't go wrong with King Taco. I pass by it all the time and I've really been craving it for awhile now. I finally had the opportunity to stop by and try out some delicious dishes. The Pina Grande Con Hielo is a very refreshing pineapple drink. I would recommend asking to try some samples of different drinks. They give you some generous samples of different drinks. I try the horchata and it was quite good, but I didn't want something that sweet. The Pineapple is also sweet, but in a different way. I asked for some recommendations in what to order and ended up ordering everything that was recommended to me. The Burro Asada Con Todo was delicious. It was great tasting burrito. Throw some of that green salsa on there and I couldn't stop dipping the burrito in that delectable green salsa. The red salsa was too spicy for my liking, but if you have a higher tolerance to spice then this salsa would be your salsa of choice. I ordered 3 tacos and they were all very good in their own right. The chicharron was different than anything that I had before. It was very fatty and flavorful. I also liked the Chicharron the best, but the Asada and Carnitas were also very good. I heard that Sope Asada was something to try as well. It was also very good. It reminded me of an English Muffin (pretty basic thing to say). It was loaded with Asada and giant clumps of cheese. I will definitely be back to King Taco and I would order every item again. Prepare to wait as the lines can get quite long, but they are quick and efficient. I was fortunate that I didn't have to wait very long when I went there.

Yelp
I've visited/ate at a few different king tacos locations, but this location by far is the nicest looking one I've ever been to. I really appreciated how clean & well taken care of the entire restaurant was. Lots of indoor & outdoor seating available which is always great. Ideal for large groups. The water fountain adds a nice touch as well. At 8 am I was 1 of the first customer to arrive & order, but shortly after it started to get more busy & form a line. The workers were kind/polite & my order of tamales came out quickly. I was extra happy when I found out they had champurrado at this location unlike others I've been too. Im picky when it come to my tamales, but everything tasted so good & paired well together. Might just be my new favorite king taco!

R G.

Yelp
Don't ever the tacos there. I ordered a $2.50 taco and got what should have been called a mini taco, like one bite. It was a good bite, but not worth $2.50 for the ridiculously small size. The food is good. The things people are complaining about, and I would agree with, are management and corporate problems though. Things like not giving people extra limes, one tiny salsa for 5 items, portion sizes being too small, NO napkins in to go orders ever, etc. Those are usually because of directives from day to day management and the employees have to suffer the complaints of every customer. I think they're focused too much on their bottom line and not the customers being satisfied.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
This location East L.A. Chavez Blvd! Soooooo good !!!!!! Chill spot sit talk and eat. All the meats are fire and portion on point. Don't over eat! Staff turning burning very nice hard working people!!!! A Plus Hot Champurrado

Suzy H.

Yelp
I've tried one of their burritos many years ago and wasn't impressed. I decided to try it again. I got my carne asada burrito to go and when I brought it home, the tortilla was drenched in oil. So obviously, the tortilla broke right away. I had to finish my burrito with a fork. The flavor was good, but it seemed like there was barely any onion or cilantro in it. My husband had their carne asada quesadilla and said that Taco Bell has better ones.

LoveMe S.

Yelp
Very poor burritos. The sope sucked: The burrito tortilla was cold, the red salsa was gross, the green one watery, barely any meat. Then I tried to get the dudes in the truck stand to help me and they were uninterested. Most of the staff were friendly though. There's better Mexican food elsewhere

Adam K.

Yelp
Decidedly meh food that definitely doesn't live up to all the hype surrounding it. I can see why it gets packed during weekends-the menu is extensive and very reasonably priced. However, there's other taco spots that serve the exact same food, but with just a little more care to kind service and not as frugal on toppings and condiments. Parking is in the lot to the side of the restaurant, or on the streets. The seating area is big, but without a large crowd or any background noise or music can feel sad and isolating. I ordered a lengua nachos, and I can say it was very whelming. The cheese looked like it was sadly just sitting on top of the chips instead of being infused throughout, and the one or two scoops of lengua meat seemed sparse compared to the amount of nachos there was. And no cilantro and diced onions to be found! It tasted just ok, but nothing to rave about. I definitely felt that for the price, there would be a little more of everything but chips. If you can find other taco spots around, give them a try before circling back here. It gets the job done, but it may not be what you'd expect.

Marco T.

Yelp
WTH!! The food is mediocre, but the size of their Tacos and sopes is rape. I can't believe how small their food is and how much it costs. I used to be a big fan. This will be my last time patronizing King taco! I much rather go to one of the many street taco vendors in the same area. They know how to serve a real taco/sope! Does anyone else agree?

Airi G.

Yelp
I've been told by so many people to try King Taco but what the food was mediocre at best. I got the combination burrito with al pastor because that's my go-to and I tacked on a carne asada taco on the side since they have taco in their name so I assumed it was one of their signature items. The ratio of meat to other ingredients, especially rice, wasn't the best in the burrito but the rice did have a lot of flavor. When I did get a bite or the pastor, it was marinated well but it couldn't distract from the very dry flour tortilla. The asada in the taco was good but the tortillas were once again dry and leathery that I needed to add a lot of salsa to make it come alive. Speaking of salsas, both the green and red ones were delicious and definitely the savior of the meal. There's plenty of seating both outdoors and indoors and the service was efficient when we went on a Friday afternoon. I think a lot of people have nostalgia when eating at King Taco which I understand is what makes it good to them. However, as someone tried it for the first time, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back knowing there's a lot of better street tacos nearby from local vendors.

Clarissa A.

Yelp
Quality and service has gone downhill. Meat was dry and had chunks of thick fat. Wait time to prepare your food is slow. Too expensive and quality and service, not like before, disappointed customer.

Jason B.

Yelp
I've been going to this location for 20 years. The carne asada tacos and sopes are literally my favorite things to eat in the city of Los Angeles. Their tamales are underrated, but they often run out. If you love simple and delicious tacos, you must visit.

Estela F.

Yelp
Flour tortillas are the worst here. They are dry. The tortlilla was so cracked and dry that it made it hard to eat and this is not the first time. Stick to the tacos.

Miranda C.

Yelp
not only were they skimpy with the asada on my sope, i had ordered ASADA nachos, got charged for them and was given a plate of chips and cheese. i didn't realize til i got home and was looking forward to my meal. this is absolutely not okay and i am not okay. 9 dollars for chips and cheese is ridiculous

Emanuel T.

Yelp
I'm going tomorrow to load up! I'm giving four stars before I even go there because I know they gonna take care of me.

Francine P.

Yelp
The food and drinks were not good. We drove along way to go there for nostalgia reasons and very disappointed

Nancy V.

Yelp
People are either going to love it or hate it. I personally was not a fan many moons ago. Go and try a burrito de asada, no beans and with mexican and american queso with the red salsa because if it isn't spicy why even bother. Downside is ever since Covid they never went back to there late late hours. Oh! and tamales de queso BOMB! Enjoy!

Daniel L.

Yelp
I recommend you ordering from the window then this truck, worst service ever. For asking simply for utilities the woman inside refused to knowledge me when speaking directly at her while the chef smiled and laughed about it.

Katie C.

Yelp
First time coming here on my lunch break. I'm not sure what the hype is still, I may just need to give this place another try and/or order something else. This location has lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I was able to pay with card, not cash only. Horchata was good! Definitely able to taste the rice and cinnamon separately. It's a little grainy from the blended rice adds a nice texture. I only ordered their tacos for to-go. The tacos were small, you can devour them in 1-2 bites. The tortillas were soaked and dripping in grease, which I don't prefer. I ordered 4 and only one was not dripping of grease. Carnitas Taco- it was the driest carnitas I've ever had. This was the one that the tortilla was not soaked and dripping of grease. Lengua Taco- tender but bland. Buche Taco- was quite flavorful but full of grease. Saudero Taco- had a nice savory taste with a few textures, some crispy pieces and some soft pieces. My favorite out of all of them.

Anthony P.

Yelp
It's the original, the OG, it's the place where my future father-in-law finished testing me... Roughly 14 years ago, when I was dating my now wife, she wanted to introduce me to her dad. Gulp! I guess she wanted to get serious and knew her dad had to approve. Fair enough. We had a night planned that included meeting her dad, obviously, her half sister, then on to "back to disco night" at Luminarias where her uncle was deejaying. My first test started out with some quick questions about how we met and what I did for a living followed by tequila shots...3 shots, no problem... to start, uh oh... With my wife the DD and she and her sister up front in the BMW, I was in back with her dad and the grilling began. It was the usual questions followed by some of the usual warnings like don't hurt my daughter or break her heart type of stuff and be a good provider... The night continued with dancing and more shots and finally ended, or at least what I thought was ending, at King Taco (KT). This location off of 3rd Street in East LA by the train tracks has a long history. It was and is the de facto after hours hang out if you're hungry after a night of clubbing or partying. The parking lot is a good size, but the later it gets, the more crowded it gets. You'll see all sorts of rides, from rat rods to low riders to bombs to lifted Jeeps to mini vans. Every car had a story and every customer a memory of KT. I had never been here at that point and my father-in-law did the ordering, all in Spanish, of course. If my buzz wasn't getting me, the salsa roja (red hot sauce), kicked me in the ass. My al pastor tacos con todo (with onions and cilantro) and salsa roja were my final test. Yes, I sweated it through and enjoyed what would ultimately be my most favorite type of tacos. I've been to almost every KT location from Compton to Long Beach to Pasadena to Baldwin Park, Maywood, South El Monte and Pico Rivera to LA on Olympic and of course, this location on 3rd. Every location is consistently good, but this location means more to me. It's where I got my now father-in-law's approval and my wife's admission that I was THE guy. I mean, she wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of having me meet her dad if I wasn't the one. And KT, that night, made al pastor THE taco for me... Just now with the green, salsa verde... I mean, I passed the test, so I don't need to prove myself anymore...

Rüby D.

Yelp
Best marinated carne asada north of the rio grande! Best green salsa in all of Los Angeles. Lines are long, but that just tell you that the food is great. Been coming here since 1990

Ralph R.

Yelp
Food was ok - they ran out of pollo and had to settle with something else that wasn't as good. Got carne asada tacos and burritos, and the meat was tough and overcooked. Service was fast and the staff was nice!

misty m.

Yelp
I call this king taco location, the king of skimp. I've been to a lot of king tacos, but this one is a huge disappointment. My taco was served cold, and my all meat lengua burrito was super small, and mostly tortilla. My boyfriends meal was also really small compared to other locations. We loved the tamales (never ordered them here) which were nice and fluffy. If you're looking for more bang for your buck, it's worth the drive 10 min away for the pico Rivera location. That's my 2 cents :)

Mark Q.

Yelp
This place can be great but some servers put little to no meat in your burrito!! I'm fkn pissed right now because I was hungry AF and now 'm almost eating a damn vegetarian burrito!!! there's almost no meat in this thing! I should have just cooked at home for all this shhh... 10.00 for rice beans and cilantro!!!! F you king taco! then I decided to order a drink after and it takes for ever just to get one thing! They need to get a better system! I went inside and there's only one person serving food so nobody else can sell you a drink the system they have is frustrating if you need to go ! -Absolutely third world.. and I'm not white! - I'm never coming here again!!! There are so many other places that sell Mexican food to be dealing with old world ordering systems and undependable food results ! I will not tolerate this in 2024! Lastly I drank my drink and wanted a refill and an older gentleman said he could not give me that refill because the lady had just went on her 10minute break and he could not charge me! Omg.. really??? This place is out dated and over rated..

Valerie M.

Yelp
Food- Really good asada nachos and very good burritos! Service- Really nice but a bit chaotic Ambiance-Really nice area and a huge eating area

George G.

Yelp
I'm sorry. I used to love this place, but King Taco what happened to you?. I was there Sunday 11/10/24 and I have say, 1. they got my order wrong ? 2. they shorted me one taco, but was most disappointing was the food. It was Terrible. They've definitely cut corners on the quality of their meat. Needless to say they have lost a loyal customer.

Verenice B.

Yelp
My fav King Taco location! Definitely the best late night taco spot! Many call it "fast food" You wait in line, order at the walk up window, wait. They have extra large super-size-me-like horchata & fountain drinks- which is the only reason why I would think of this spot as "fast food." Oh and by the way, the fountain drinks has cough** Pepsi.... Anyway, 1am, the wait was longer than in n out! Hella people gathering after a fun night. Definitely worth the wait, but something to consider. Gobbled up 2 carne asadas and pastor. Both salsas are super tasty! My family said the horchata was great too. *sorry, no images. Nobody had time for that at almost 2am when we finally got the food. Their relationship with Pepsi must be deep! But Please consider selling coke from a fridge! Mexican coke or even canned coke!

Turtle T.

Yelp
Is this the best place... nah.. is it an iconic, feel good food. Yes. Mostly because you grow up eating it and nostalgia sets in. I still don't understand how they haven't bottled up their red sauce and sold it like tapatio..

Alexandra Z.

Yelp
Food was nasty, idk how people can hype this place up .No where near authentic. I ordered my quesadilla WITH meat and they must of been running out of food @ lunch time because it was mostly ALL cheese I even returned it and got a refund. I wouldn't recommend this place even if it was the last standing restaurant in Cali . Can gladly say NEVER coming here again if I could give it a -0 I would .

Edith A.

Yelp
Why are they so cheap with the salsas now??? You get 1 salsa for every burrito or 1 salsa for 3 tacos... if you ask for extra, they will not give it to you..what the heck!!!! The cashier messed up one of my burrito orders, I only wanted meat and beans, she added rice as well. I didn't notice that right away and when I went up to the window to pick it up I informed the girl that it shouldn't have rice. She said it was my responsibility to check the receipt to make sure everything was correct and she couldn't make me another burrito without the rice!!! She said I had to take it like that. Their food is so expensive now and they're always packed. So let's be good to the customers

Evan T.

Yelp
High quality food So we get here around 9:10. There literally are open until 1 am from sun to thur and 3 AM for fri and sat. Wow. The line was not that long and we order a burrito, tacos, nachos and a horchata for my family. There were some loud cars and people, but nothing too disturbing. When the food comes, its looks amazing. The meat looks nice and tender,( they put an onion on top for moisture!) the nachos look nice and cheesy. The food tastes amazing and the horchata tastes very cinnamon ish but still good. Happily recommend

Isabelle V.

Yelp
Always a good place, even though LA is full of taco trucks. Lengua tacos are my favorite here .

Alexis T.

Yelp
Sopes are always Atole Champurrado most of the time is decent flavor wise not bad at all Tacos bomb when your mind goes blank they will do but stick with the basic cause their pastor is just not pastor-ing enough for me just like their chicharrón nope yuck but the asada basic you can't go wrong. just like everything here in California prices have gone up so you know it is what it is. Jamaica alright Agua de piña is alright too

Mari C.

Yelp
My one star is due to the price of adding cheese to a burrito, $2.30 I mean that's a little ridiculous when they only give you a little 1.5 oz. serving of it. I also added cabbage to my burrito which was 99¢ not bad especially compared to the cheese add on price.

Alejandra R.

Yelp
This food is so disgusting. We order everything on the menu and it is complete embarrassment to my culture. Do yourself a favor and shut down.

Diana W.

Yelp
2 Cashier Lines: Enclosed/Shaded line and Street/Curb line. The Street line is faster. Al Pastor Burrito is very saucy and greasy good. Prices have raised like everywhere else. Came during weekday afternoon 4pm and there was still a long line. Unsure if it's worth the line? So many great options around unless it's super late at night? Food was still decent. Credit Card accepted. Pick up window is said over speakers. Can use Google translate to listen to your number. Green or red sauce? - Al pastor is already saucy with everything in it. Really great for a drunk all meat burrito. - Lengua and buche were decent. - I'm not a fan of their asada for that day. With so many great tacos joints, I'm not sure if I'll be coming back here unless I'm craving their all meat al pastor burrito. I'm not patient when it comes to street tacos/burritos.

H O.

Yelp
first they are expensive!!! their burritos are very small for an 11$$ dollar burrito , they always get the order wrong, every time for me at least. I ask no onions every time and they pound the onions. the wait to order get your food is horrible, it's a good 40- to 60 minutes if you go on a weekend, 30-40 on a weeknight. I have been a customer for a good decade, but I will not ever return... unfortunately people just keep going back. not this guy!

ROYALSTARS R.

Yelp
My 1st time at this location. The food was very good. My sisters and I ordered carne asada burrito with no rice. We all enjoyed it. The Jamaica (Iced Hibiscus Tea) was very refreshing and not too sweet. Remember to order a large drink instead of a medium because it's only .30 cent more.

Karol K.

Yelp
tacos aren't cold when I get them. I live 25 minutes away and I get home still they are good to eat!! The waters are Good, all have the flavor . Cool attitude they Have

Denise V.

Yelp
All I can say is WTF was this! I'm from San Diego and was told oh this place is better than any taco shop in SD blah blah blah. If you peeps don't knock it off with this nonsense! Let's just say If there's a little street taco stand close then your better off going there. This was the worlds smallest taco! You can't be called King taco if your not serving king size tacos! This was even smaller than the TJ street tacos. I was hoping at least the flavor would be bomb but I honestly hit them Jack tacos after and it was a better choice! The burrito was also small and dry and for the quesadilla... I should have just made one at home myself ‍

Christopher G.

Yelp
Today I bought two chicken Tomales at the Baldwin Park store for my wife and have way eat she noticed small human hair in it and call me over to see it. This is not the first time this happened. We are nolonger going to buy Tomales there or any of there store again.

Luke H.

Yelp
Stopped by King Taco before heading to the airport. Very tasty and quite affordable than other places I've been eating at this past weekend. A long line when we got there, but it moved fast. Burritos, tacos, and sopes with lots of cilantro and red hot sauce. We took advantage of the outdoor seating and enjoyed our meal. Got two extra burritos to go to eat them on the plane

Elaine G.

Yelp
Who doesn't love the king of tacos. Los Angeles street tacos are a staple of California culture. Pass the sides and go straight for the all meat tacos and all meat burrito. The drippings are to die for, green sauce on top makes such a experience in your mouth you can't stop til it's gone! I suggest eating right after ordering, and get a large Pińa to sip on while you wait. Pro tip, skip order line 1 and go straight to 2 or even check window 3. Many times they are open with no customers, everyone lines up like sheep on 1 instead.
