Yelp
This takeout-only, underground restaurant (in the most literal sense of the word) has a good thing going: ramen powder, liberally applied to fries and chicken nuggets. I'm not sure what's in that magic powder (it's described as dehydrated ramen broth), but it reminds me a little bit of furikake, an umami-rich seasoning blend to sprinkle on rice -- and just about everything else. (I may or may not eat it on mashed potatoes.) In any event, my picky kids gobbled down all food touched by this magic ramen powder without complaint -- and that's saying a lot.
We received our food by delivery (on time, nice delivery person), and everything was still hot and crispy upon arrival. The thickly breaded chicken nuggets naturally retained a lot of fry oil, but were fairly well blotted and remained crispy for quite some time. Crispy crinkle fries came with sriracha, but didn't in my view need anything additional.
Korean BBQ pulled pork sandwich was (as expected) very fusion, with some pleasantly crisp, acidic pickled vegetables. A side of sriracha-covered Brussels sprouts were quite delicious and decadent: crispy, fried sprouts were liberally sprinkled with thick-cut bacon. I personally didn't love the pickled peppers in this context (too busy), but they were easy to pick out and repurpose.
The only item we ordered that I wouldn't readily order again: The SES brunch sandwich (two ramen seasoned eggs folded with Korean spicy sambal, with bacon and American cheese on a Martin's potato roll). It was on the smaller end for an $11.50 sandwich and I actually found the bacon and cheese and sambal distracting; I really just wanted the fluffy, well-made ramen-seasoned eggs on their own.
Depending on your spin, the menu is either lacking in options or focused. Given how good our first meal was, I think I'm going to lean towards the latter interpretation.
(No photos, sorry. By the time I remembered to snap a shot, everything was decimated!)
