Kings and Queens Liberian Cuisine has very good food and has very professional staff members that are knowledgeable about the menu if any customers have any questions. The staff are reasonable if you want to take out a certain ingredient in the food item you are paying for. Keep up the good work 👍

Disappointing – Not What It Used to Be This place used to be my favorite for French food, but sadly, it’s lost its charm. The service is still fine, but the food quality has really gone downhill. The dishes feel like they’re just reheated from yesterday—bland, dry, and lacking the fresh, vibrant flavors I remember. It’s a real shame because it was once such a gem. Not sure I'll be coming back anytime soon.

Google
Stop what you’re doing and go here now! They have amazing food and a staff that makes you feel like family. Anything on the menu won’t disappoint! They even have vegan options!

I ordered potato greens. I know the difference between potato greens and collard greens and those were collard. I ordered on uber eats. I like my food spicy so I could have dealt with them being collard if I had an option to order extra pepper but I had to choke down collard greens with one tiny pepper sauce. A lot of meat tho, that’s the only plus.

This was my first experience with Liberian Cuisine. It was absolutely delicious!! Chef’s kiss for sure!!

Google
We walk on and are told we have to order before we are seated and to scan the menu qr code. So I’m like ok, that’s weird af but I heard about the place so I’m all in. After scanning the menu I asked about 3 different dishes on the menu and was told that they don’t serve any of the items. So, now I’m like I scanned what you told me to and the items that are there you don’t have? Crazy. I ask for a printed menu of what they do have and was told they don’t have one. How the heck can I order if the only menu you have is online and the only three items I asked about you don’t have. I got out of there went around the corner and found Divine Time Nigerian Cusine and was not disappointed. My advice is go around the corner from this Janky spot and get some great eats from Divine Time.

Google
I wonder how the jollof is made ?! It tasted old with bag rice. This was food my kids requested. They usually enjoy African food and my usual spot wasn’t accepting anymore orders so I tried this and wow. It wasn’t tasty at all. 😞

Google
Highly Disappointing!! I’ve eaten here once before with no problem but last night was just TERRIBLE!!! 1. My potato greens weren’t potato greens, they were collard greens finely chopped, oily and unseasoned (they could’ve at least told me they didn’t have what I wanted instead of giving me anything. 2. My egusi tasted and smelled like they made it with smoked sardines, just complete fish juice, too overpowering to eat 3. My fufu was so sticky, like slime, I couldn’t properly pick it up because it stuck to my fingers, I tried to roll it in my hand and it stuck to everything like putty. And after putting it in the fridge, it has white slimy spots on it Overall, Never Again!

Yelp
If you like food not just African food you need to go here now! From the vibe in the lobby to the kitchen you will feed your soul

Yelp
I've had good from Kings & Queens numerous times. Today, I tried their signature dirty rice and dark meat fried chicken. The chicken was juicy flavorful and the right amount of spice. The dirty rice had great flavor and is even better when you add the pepper sauce. Definitely a new menu option for me moving forward.

Yelp
I have eaten from here before , on Super Bowl Sunday I purchased potato greens. I ate it after I was done my stomach was hurting bad I went to bed and the middle of the night I wake up to serve stomach cramps. I was up all night using the bathroom non stop and burping , but the burping had a weird smell to it. I believe I was given old food even though it didn't taste old while eating it . I'm so messed up I will have to miss work. I'm never eating here again .

Hannah J.

Yelp
Ordered take out- Seafood Potato Greens & Grilled Snapper with Jollof Rice... INCREDIBLE. The seafood potato greens was packed with flavor and was generous on the amount of seafood. The red snapper was so tasty and the portion of jollof rice was enormous. The service was great!

Sheila P.

Yelp
Food normally is very good. This time it was Extremely spicy to the point I couldn't enjoy it. Since. Paid for it. I did my best to eat it.

Jazzy J.

Yelp
I love my Jollof rice and fried tilapia. The cassava fries and the sautéed onion thingamajig is A1 and always has me wishing they gave bigger cups or at least two per dish.

Jenaya P.

Yelp
This food was definitely made with love! I can see why it has all the good reviews cause it is well deserving! I came to Kings and Queens of Liberian Cuisine and ordered the Fried Red Snapper fish and jollof rice. Firstly the portions are huge! It came in a large aluminum pan and I literally had left overs for three days. As far as the taste. It was Yum! The fish was crispy and seasoned to perfection with grilled onions and peppers to top it off. The rice was also flavorful. They give you two sauces. One was spicy spicy but it was delicious. It taste like a home cooked meal! Overall It was 30.00 well spent! I would've gave them 5 stars but the front desk guy thought I was a delivery driver and had me waiting for 10 minutes for miscommunication. Nonetheless mistakes happen and he was very apologetic!

Naiya B.

Yelp
I am a vegetarian and really enjoy your food! I recently received two jollof rice platters instead of one and I just want to thank whoever did that. Also the jollof rice is delicious along with the kidney beans. There is so much flavor in both!

Olivia N.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to get Egusi and potato greens! Sometimes it can be a little too oily but the flavor is always out of this world! The meats are tender and it's a perfect amount of spice.

Desirae S.

Yelp
I got the egusi stew and the cassava leaf, and I got it with FuFu. Those dishes were absolutely delicious. It reminds me of my childhood from my neighbor next-door who used to cook all the time. I will be returning again to get more food. My brother had jollof rice and lamb and pepper soup, and those were absolutely delicious. The rice had a lot of flavor.

Che D.

Yelp
My friend suggested that I try K&Q a while back and I decided to give them a try. The portion sizes are amazing! You can feed 2-3 people with a dish depending on what you order. I ordered the fish w/rice as well as the Cassava leaf dish. Both tasted great and was well seasoned. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. The wait isn't too long and they have great menu options. I will definitely be back to try different menu items.

Marc K.

Yelp
I went twice once I dined in the food was amazing I went back the other day my fish was old and had been cooked maybe earlier in the day it was soggy and smelled very fishy I can't go back

Darwin P.

Yelp
Disappointing experience vs. misleading Yelp profile, although the food tasted good. The owner boasted "ultimate upscale...dine in experience" so I expected at least to be served on plates, if not fine china. When we walked in, the one employee we saw that evening announced we could dine in: but they only serve in take-out containers. Servings were generous and well prepared, and would have sufficed if I expected take-away; but we were visiting from out of town, taking our daughter out for a special meal. This place has potential; but they should avoid mis-representing their business model.

Cynthia W.

Yelp
Last night I tried ordering food from here using a food app but couldn't because I was 2 minutes late. My cousin is would RAVE about how delicious their food is. I had my heart set on ordering from here for lunch. Have you ever had a taste for something that you never had? No? Just me. Perfect! I was excited about trying this place that I put my lunch order in at 11:30 so it could be delivered by 1:00. Keep in mind I I've never tried African food so I decided to not go wild. I decided to get the Jollof rice with fried red snapper. Bayyybeeee! It was so bomb! Inside the aluminum pan with the food cane two different sauces. I only tried the dark green sauce. It was hot. Like hot hot! My lips was tingling because how spicy it was and I loved every minute of it. I washed my food down with an ice cold Pepsi and kept eating. Now I'm sitting at work mad because I ate too much and my pants wont button up. Long Live Kobe & Gigi

Maura P.

Yelp
I liked the food when I got the right order. The last time I went, they gave me meat in my "vegan" potato greens. Stopped going after that.

Kenny D.

Yelp
I consider myself an honorary Liberian being married to my African Queen for over 13 years. While I'm no connoisseur, I have a fairly good understanding of what constitutes good Liberian food. Well, the chuck rice and gravy was absolutely excellent. I am normally a palm butter man, but this dish is dangerously close to supplanting my all-time favorite. The gravy is well seasoned and, if you like a bit more kick, a small container of spice is provided as well. I kept my first experience simple, but I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. I can't wait!

Fia M.

Yelp
Great Food , usually a wait, but worth it. I like the Potato Leaves and The Lamb w/ Rice. Great comfort food and healthy! I just wish they would add more Meat to their platters, but flavors are out of this world.... Delicious.

Morris B.

Yelp
I've been aiming to try this spot for quite a while based on the reviews I read and the weekend was the perfect time to go. I was warned to have lots of room in my tummy because the portion sizes were huge. They weren't lying. I was expecting a few things to go down at a normal Caribbean restaurant: Music should be loud, but good. The service will be slow. And at least 30% of the menu wont be aavailable for whatever reason. Literally last time I went to a Caribbean spot in West Philly / Upper Darby and ordered baked fish, the person looked at me and literally said "Naw we don't fee like cooking that, it take too long." I feel you. No argument. At Kings and Queens, the music was good n loud, the service was a LITTLE slow, and they were out of snapper so only one item which was good. I ordered the plantains with sweet onion sauce for an appetizer and fried chicken wings with rice for the main meal. The serving size for the appetizer could feed 4 people. No really. The plantains were average but that onion sauce! Whew that pulled the whole thing together. Plantains are already sweet, but the spice to the onion sauce was a nice balance. Now this is where I messed up. I will NEVER complain about a serving size being too much so all I will say is a tricked myself into thinking I could get through even 2 of those gigantic chicken wings. Even my kid ate one while shaking her head in disappointment at my lack of eating abilities. The wings were good, just need a little salt. The rice was good and also came with some type of red pepper and onion sauce that I really enjoyed. It took forever to close the bill but it was pretty packed with takeout orders so no biggie. I'll definitely be back.

Omar M.

Yelp
The food at this establishment was made with love at one point but now it is horrible. Every time I order from there here lately the food was over cooked and bland. The meats are tuff as if it is old and reheated. The bowls of food used to be pact and now they are halfway filled and flavorless. I'm not sure if it's a new cook or what but they need a revamp immediately! It's not worth the $17.00 at all.

Yelp
This review is overdue, but here it is. King and Queens food is awesome, flavorful and fresh. A friend and I visited a few years ago, pre-covid for a sit down meal. Being unfamiliar with Liberian cuisine, we asked the staff to recommend dishes, I got the peanut butter soup and she got the chuck chicken and rice, alllll of it was amazing!!! The portions are huge, enough for at least 3 servings. The cuisine was new to our pallet but no stomach aches or any side affects, just savory and very appetizing. No condiments needed and just enough of everything. The staff were friendly and helpful then. Over there years I've been there a handful of times, peanut butter soup became my favorite. But, I learned it wasn't something they served daily, so I was there most recently and had to do some research to determine what I wanted to try this time I ordered the chuck rice and gravy and veggie samosas to go. The meal totaled a little over $20 l, which was reasonable, as I mentioned it will last for 3 servings. The samosas were really good and had a nice kick at the end. The restaurant has made some esthetic updates and looks better than it did when I first visited, though I placed a take out order. If you are considering going here, just go. The food is good, the staff are efficient (they take your order and get it right) and the space is clean if you decide to eat inside. There is ample parking around the location, give them a try you won't regret it.

Yelp
Man this sh!+ trash (bubba dug voice) I ordered two potato greens. One seafood, one regular and this food tasted like dirt. I'm soooooo pissed! The first thing they said was let Uber Eats refund you. No! Make a good product and I wouldn't need a refund!!!!

Deja R.

Yelp
I order quite a few times from here sometime it's a hit or miss on the eugsi and potato greens

Naiheema B.

Yelp
I always get the cassava leaf with meat and it's always good , staff is friendly service is great.

Fred A.

Yelp
We braved the train and buses to come out here for Liberian food. The menu looked very interesting but when we got there they told us they are takeout only. No place nearby to sit and eat takeout so we went around the corner.

Unique W.

Yelp
Food great as always. Customer service phenomenal! Always order red snapper and country fried rice.

Tania A.

Yelp
If I lived in Philly... I would be a regular. First and foremost the service was great. When going to most African restaurants, I usually turn a blind eye to the quality of the service, for the taste of the food! But with Kings & Queens Liberian Cuisine I didn't have to do that at all. I started off with a great ginger juice to open my palette, and had the fried tilapia fish with "country" dry rice as my main- Yes, yes and yes! There was hot fried pepper on the side, so I could add to my tolerance level! I will definitely be back, to try more items on the menu! My friend had the cassava leaves and said it was great- I'm a huge fan of torborgee, so that'll also be a must-try for next time!

Taj W.

Yelp
If I could give this establishment 0000.05 stars, I would. My friends and I drove almost the same amount of time that it takes to get to NYC just to have some of this delicious liberian food that we heard so much about. However, that never happened. We got to the restaurant and were promptly seated by a young gentleman who was the host. About 15-20 minutes after we arrived, what looked like a basketball team arrived and were promptly seated upstairs on the upper level. My dinner companion requested a dessert of some sort that was on the menu and was told by the host that they were out of the specific item for the evening. About 15 minutes after that the waitress comes out with a plate of the item and said she's on our table even though we thought they were out of it. That right there shows me that they have poor communication skills amongst one another. After waiting about 45 to 50 minutes, we see two plates coming out of the kitchen and suddenly we sit up thinking it is our plates but no, the plates were going upstairs to the basketball team. At that point we'd had enough because there is no way that you have three individuals sitting there for a meal and it's almost an hour and still nothing, yet you will serve the people who came into the restaurant after us. Honestly I have never waited that long before for food. At the rate they were moving we, would've had a new president in the White House. I will never give this establishment any of my business again and I implore you all to do the same; take your business where it is appreciated.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
When I need an order of potato greens and rice or fried fish with jollof rice... this is my spot. Definitely worth the ride for my fix... So far I can't find really good Liberian food near me...

Tiara B.

Yelp
Finally made it to Kings and Queens and the food is phenomenal! I love that there is a vegan alternative for most menu items. The customer service was decent but the wait was longer than anticipated. I got a large order so that was understood. I was so excited and anxious to try the food I ordered almost everything. No regrets! I'll definitely be returning again.

Yahne B.

Yelp
This place was great but they are falling off. I've had bad meat in my spinach. I didn't trip and went back a couple month later, now today my meat in my peanut soup and spinach is tough and my bowl of spinach barely has any Spinach in it. Not even enough to us half of my rice. Was going here for years today is my last day

Janelle B.

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite spots for now. I've been about 5 times including both take out and eat in. Let's start with the food.. Seafood Potato greens- good, but not my favorite. Made with potatoe greens, plump shrimp, blue crab, a piece of salt smoke fish and accompanied by white rice. Regular potatoe greens-good, but again not my favorite. Made with some smoked meats I beleive and accompanied by white rice. Chuck rice and gravy-good, this is a reddish sauce of peppers ,tomatoes and meats accompanied by a green rice. Palm butter stew-good, it is a brown stew/sauce loaded with seafood (shrimps, crab, fish)and accompanied by white rice. Palava sauce-my favorite. It's made with some type of greens, meat, and palm oil accompanied by white rice. All of these are referred to as "soup", but they seem to contain lots of oil which is very different for me when I think of soup, but a good different. Fried Talipia- fried way too hard, I dont think I'll ever order that again. Fried snapper- soo good, fried to perfection and topped with onions and peppers. Grilled Snapper- very reminiscent of the fried snapper minus the peppers and onions. Country dry rice- soo good that everytime I think of ordering a different rice I can't bring myself to cheat. Aticheke and plantains- just ok, needs some sauce but not bad. And for dessert...Banana bread with pecan ice cream- soooooo good, the bread is not really sweet but it's just right for someone who doesnt really want anything too sweet. Now let's get down to the service.. The place isn't big at all and when it gets busy the wait time its over an hour and a half. The waitresses are super nice, thoughtful, and very accommodating. It just takes a while for the food to be served to you but if you don't mind waiting for at least 30 minutes on a regular day then you should be good to go. Oh and don't forget to BYOB.

Deborah A.

Yelp
I wanted potato greens and it was delicious and seasoned to perfection. The jollof rice and plaintains were also delicious.

Antonina E.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Liberian cuisine. I also got a reaction from the cassava leaves (turns out peanuts are common in African cuisine but like as per usual Toni relied on her taste buds to check for any. Next time we ask). So anyways. My friend is from Sierra Leone so I told her to order for us and I would try it all. Because well that's my favorite thing to do. And gosh darn it was that a good decision (I mean besides the reaction part, but is fine. And for the record she tried to warn me and call the restaurant to check but I'm stubborn {stupid?}). The fish was incredible. We ate with our hands because that's what you do. You eat Asian food with chopsticks, right? Get with the culture. The cassava couscous like mixture with the pepper sauces was out of this world. The plantains (cooked like maduros) phenomenal. She personally felt the cassava leaves were too bitter compared to how her mother makes it, pero I thought it was tasty from my one toxic bite . The white rice was simply that. Just cooked in water, but a huge portion. Both of these two plates could have easily fed two. I would definitely go back, and if not here then just in general to try more of this delicious cuisine. Minus the leaves of course. Grateful for my friends helping me explore their cultures through my belly :) it was a beautiful picnic

Joy Erika D.

Yelp
Best. African. Food. Cassava fries with onion gravy, fried chicken wings, and jollof on a different level! I could eat their jollof rice every day if I could. Chicken is perfectly crispy and the spicy sauce with it is sooo good! Workers are great and quick to help. Will definitely come back the next time I'm in Philly.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Everything was perfectly seasoned. It taste amazing literally no complaints. 1 order is enough for 2 people depending on your appetite.

Chelsea P.

Yelp
Sadly it was more stems than greens VERY disappointing and wasn't cooked long enough very crunchy. I traveled a nice ways away for this ...please see attachment!

Ajay B.

Yelp
Hey Foodies... So I've eaten her before and thought that I would switch it up a tiny bit. I usually get the Potato Greens once a month, but this day I ordered the Seafood Potato Greens.. Well I wasn't disappointed. It's potato greens cooked in vegetable oil with Crab,Shrimp, and Tilapia filet. While I prayed that it wasn't imitation crab, they blessed this dish with a whole blue crab, cracked and ready to eat. All of the flavors were there but I just have a couple concerns. How fresh are the crabs? ( little to no meat) Tilapia was dry, shrimp were ok. ( NO PHOTO CAUSE I'M A PHAT AZZ) Kings and Queens Liberian Cuisine can you look into that. Overall I would revisit this dish and the establishment. Great customer service.

Jasmine U.

Yelp
VERY GOOD FOOD! I had delivery twice, both times took a little longer than estimated time but very worth it. The plantains are always perfect. Fried snapper WINNER & potato greens, very good. Mine addition to Upper Darby.

Charlie E.

Yelp
A whole lot of food! Definitely ok to split an entree between 2 people, barely finished half of my plate. The plantains here are some of the best I've ever had- the onion sauce is AMAZING! The red velvet cake is SO decadent and worth every penny. Sometimes you have to eat dessert first The fried chicken was great, but I feel like it would be better to order their fried fish. Super crunchy! Their signature rice is AMAZING, and the veggie side they gave me with khenke (probably butchering the spelling) was borderline addictive. The khenke itself wasn't for me- think molasses combined with the breading you would get in a tamale. Overall, would definitely eat here again. Pretty pricey, but they do what they do super well. I would definitely order takeout, tho. Our waitress was talking on her phone the whole time, which was definitely the first time I've seen something like that! Took a while to get our food.

Cee T.

Yelp
READ NO FURTHER YET! Order some food (get the cassava leaves NOW!) THEN you can proceed to read the review. Lol. So I rarely depend on social media to give me the next business to patronize, but among many others, I've fallen into the social media advertisement and found this place. I've been wanting to visit since the first follow, but never had reason to visit upper Darby anymore. Then I had a house call for a nail appointment and she knew I was starvin Marvin (she's my friend so she KNOWS!) and we wanted to get food.. Tried to look up many places but saw nothing enticing..Then I said Oh Crap. I'm in Darby. ORDER KINGS AND QUEENS NOW because I've always heard the hype of their food and cassava leaves but never found it to be super interesting. I mean how can "leaves" taste THAT GOOD(mind you I was raised on plant based diet. It's good but can't be THAT good) UMMM WRONG ON MY PART! We ordered the cassava leave, some chicken, plantains, and another meat dish. Now, I'm expecting just the regular typical amount of food..Why did I open up a Barney bag of heaven sent food from Kings and Queens. OH EM GEE. Cassava leaves-YOU MUSTTTTT! Idc if you don't eat greens, don't like the color, IDGAF. If you like flavorful food, GET THIS DISH FOR LIFE! The chicken we had (damn I cannot remember) looks like it can be considered "curry" but honestly, it is so unique in its own taste that it simply cannot be labeled curry AT ALL, but to simplify, I can say it LOOKS like it can be some sorta curry, but it ain't! It's BETTER!!! Man. I am drooling now thinking of their food since I ordered a few weeks back. I wish I was closer to visit every darn day. I am a very specific diner, I'd say, and have followed and tried many many many places that I've found via social media/online, but this is honestly the ONLY place that's blown my socks off thus far. I mean the flavor, the spice..oh my god! My friend and I laid out the entire meal on the table (buffet style) and had round one standing up as we were chewing away totally forgetting we need to grab this plate and sit our butts down. So we did, after round 2. I've followed them for a bit now on IG and they are soooo super nice and friendly and down to earth with the folks. This place is going to go so far because of the love and passion and humbleness that comes along with delicious flavorful food.

Phillip Y.

Yelp
This place gets no stars. I've been going here for a few years and I've seen it get worst and worst w the service. Tonight I had two friends come to town and I took them there for dinner, we waited an entire hour and was never served. They served two different groups that came in after w did.. no apology no rectifying the wait. These Africans are horrible. I will never ever eat there again. An hr people.. they made us sit there waiting for and entire hour.. I try my best to support people who look like me but it's always an issue w quality of service. I'm so embarrassed. Please do not even bother going here.

Moby K.

Yelp
Delicious! We will be coming here more, that is certain. I got the lamb with acheke and my girlfriend got the fried chicken with acheke, both came with plantain fries and side of sauces. The lamb was tasty but the downside was it was more bone and fat than meat. The lamb meat I did get was yummy, but not large in number. (This is why 4/5). My girlfriend loved the fried chicken The acheke and fried plantains were amazing, I'll be craving more of those plantains. The sauces were good and one was really hot so if you love spice it's pertect. We got take out but might try dine in next time because the atmosphere was nice. We are excited to keep trying different food here!

JC R.

Yelp
The server was on her phone the whole time I was there. I had to call my server 3 times because she couldn't hear me with her headphones on listening to her music. My server wasn't warm or inviting at all. The lady working the register was much more attentive. As for the food, it was delicious, and came in huge portions. I ordered the grilled lamb with jollof rice, and I also ordered Cassava Leaf w/ rice, and Super ginger juice w/ mango. The restaurant was smaller than I expected. But other than my server, the restaurant experience was exceptional. I will be going there more often

Leah L.

Yelp
Went here because I was in the area and a friend always raves about this place. I ordered potato greens with white rice for my husband he loved it and said it was the best potato greens he's has ever had. And he loves that hot sauce and boy it's really hot. I ordered peanut butter soup with white rice, it was good although I have had it thicker before. The location seems to get a crow, they have seating and upstairs seating over cute nice little place. Will be back.

Marquia W.

Yelp
Everything was really good! I had fufu with pepper soup, cassava leaf and rice and potato greens and rice all really good

Brandi R.

Yelp
The staff was friendly but unfortunately they forgot our order. We sat for 45 minutes before someone came and apologized and then brought our food. The waitress could be a lot more attentive. They brought out an amazing rice cake to show how sorry they were with the delay and mix-up. The food was hands down amazing. I'll definitely go back with a reservation. I had the red snapper.

Michelle W.

Yelp
Food is very delicious here. I've actually eaten here numerous times without giving a review. Customer service is great. Lamb, fish potatoe greens you can't go wrong with anything you order. Didn't give 5 stars because every time we order there is never plantains.

Jareé C.

Yelp
When I tell you this food is good oh my God. I moved back to northern New Jersey and I think about this food every single day. One day I'm gonna take the drive back just to get a meal.

Torey C.

Yelp
I have been here 3 times and each time has been an wonderful experience. The grilled snapper, jollof and country rice, spinach , ginger juice, plantains and a few other items were perfectly prepared. The atmosphere is casual with music playing in the background not too loud. There are plenty of options for carnivores or not. I really like being able to bring my favorite wine to compliment the food. The prices are very fair and the waitress was attentive. I will definitely be coming back very soon.
