The Best Things We’ve Eaten Lately - Seattle - The Infatuation

"“There’s no shortage of soft serve in Seattle, but being from Long Island, I had given up on finding a suitable stand-in for Mr. Softee. But then I stumbled upon King’s Deli. It’s a convenience store in the CD that serves fried chicken and jojos, but they also sell massive vanilla/chocolate cones for two dollars. On a hot Seattle day (so, 75 degrees) when nothing but a creamy swirl in a cake cone will cure any grumpiness you’ve got, King’s Deli is the place.”" - julia chen 1, carlo mantuano, aimee rizzo

Quiet little Chinese restaurant. The owners are super friendly and take great care of you. I love the chicken yakisoba, chicken teriyaki, and the fried rice. I also enjoy coming in and having a nice conversation with the owners. Just great people!

Google
5 stars for best value in Portland! You don't see many of these large to-go containers crammed full these days. This place also has a bunch of cheap lunch specials and American sandwich and burger options. My house fried rice was full of shrimp and steak and good for at least three meals. I love leftovers!

The teriyaki is absolutely disgusting!🤮 It was soy-based with no other flavoring (I.e. ginger or brown sugar). And it was more like a jello-thick consistency due to too much starch. My chicken was inconsistently hot as if it was microwaved. In the same bite, half the chicken would be cold while the other half was too hot! Same with my steamed-veggies, half were soggy while the other half were raw! White rice also had pockets of heat and pockets that were cold. The only pro is the pricing was cheap & portions were big. The crab puffs were unique to say the least. The pastry dough tasted heavily freezer-burnt. The sweet & sour tasted like chemicals. I noticed everyone who came in during my time were just gambling. We were the only ones sitting and eating in the dining area.

EDIT; I have to change my rating from a 4 to a 5 because I just love this honey mustard sub. Got it again today, and it's everything and more than the one I had last time. It's just so tasty. I love the crispy bread and all the fillings. I really need to go more often. And the people are always nice! When I visited they definitly had some regulars swing in, so give this place a shot despite some bad reviews! I got a honey mustard chicken and bacon sub, a small one and it was larger than I had expected. It was warm, and I really liked the sauce that was on it. It came with lettuce onion tomato and olives which I really enjoyed as well. It was super filling and the bread was soft. I don't know what kind of cheese was on it but it went well with it. This place is 3 minutes away from work and I definitly want to go back to get another sub. Would rather have one from here then ever go back to subway. A small was like $6.79 My bf got the teriyaki and he thought it was okay but the teriyaki sauce is a little too salty. He would go back just not get the teriyaki again, to each their own. Very good portions though. The gyoza was crispy and had alright flavor. First bite seems a little watery so I wonder if they boil then fry them? But they weren't bad. Super nice people greeting you when you come in and looks to be a local hole in the wall. I'd definitly go back to try more subs. They have subs, Chinese food, burgers salads. All decently priced.

Their hot and sour soup Is exactly what you need when you need when you do not feel well. Kings has been there for years and use to be a place where they would send recruits to get examined before they went off to war. I remember going there way back in 1998, and I remember it being a pretty good experience even over 20 years ago. about a month ago I ordered a burger and some other food from there and they did forget one of my hot and sour soup soup but that's okay. The rest of the food was excellent and my son enjoyed the burger. also their kimchi is another side dish that will get you breathing before any decongestant ever will. It was perfectly prepared. Also, they delivery that I got was from door Dash. I prefer them. as they are lightning quick. I forget about all the great food that is on Colombia. And I really should go and promote these places more. There are some real gems here and they are so close to my house. Can't wait till they finish the storage place so its easy to go there from 33rd. And thank you for making me feel better Kings Delicatessen.

Staff were present. The food was ok but not that good. I would call this place a lottery den that has food as a second options. The price was a little unfair to the amount of food served. Over all I wish you well in your travel my fellow Google travelers.

Google
Happy to support a place that's in the middle of a quiet office park; got a fair tuna salad sandwich

Google
It's marginal at best. Dingy and definitely in need of a good cleaning. The sandwiches are OK but the teriyaki is the worst I have ever tasted. Microwave meals from the freezer section are better...

Yelp
Stopped in and got the Kings Classic toasted sub. Bread was great. Crunchy, fresh, good texture. Veggies were crisp, clean, and fresh. Meat was ok. Some of it was like pre-sliced luncheon meat you'd buy at the grocery store (think Oscar Meyer). But, you know what? For the price, the portion was great! Definitely a better option than like a Subway sandwich. I would definitely come back to try a different sandwich. Service was good, friendly, and helpful. Overall, a good experience.

Yelp
The food here isn't necessarily gourmet, but it's a good stop for some classic fast food style Chinese! The black pepper chicken and broccoli beef are 2 of my usual choices and are always on point. The inside is a bit dated and feels pretty divey, but it's not a bad place to stop for a quick lunch or dinner!

Yelp
I work right in the same plaza as Kings Deli. I avoided going in there for over a year because I heard they sell teriyaki and I don't like it. One day I was hungry and short on time, so I went to check it out. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean, and they have a full menu of items. I decided on a sandwich and I believe it's a Turkey Club sandwich. I know a sandwich is such a simple meal, but Kings Deli makes it so well. The bread they use is delicious, the deli meat isn't too salty, the lettuce and tomato are fresh, the bacon is hot and crisp, and they use 3 pieces of bread. The sandwich comes with chips and costs about $12 if I include a drink. I've never taken a picture of the sandwich but next time I go, I will. Recommend this restaurant if you're in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there though. Recommended and will return for another sandwich.

Yelp
Good presentation, but highly disappointed. Food had no flavor. Pork was dry and tough.

Dave O.

Yelp
Overcooked rice and gravy like teriyaki sauce was a bit off. One time visit. Would not recommend but lunch serving size was larger than expected.

Yelp
I got the teriyaki. The chicken and vegetables were cooked well but I didn't like the sauce. However the bathroom was filthy and smelled awful. It made me wonder if the kitchen was just as dirty and put me off ever wanting to eat there again.

Yelp
Delicious food! Great environment and kind service! Highly recommend all of the sandwiches and orange chicken:) Definitely a place to go to around the area, coming back super soon!

Yelp
I stopped by late afternoon weekday because I knew that I still had hours of work to do before I could possibly be home. I ordered the special of the day. Teriyaki Chicken and Rice. The place is quite large inside, full bar with video lottery in the back. I waited about 8 minutes and the food looked fresh and smell great! I took the food with me and was able to eat it while waiting on a delivery. It was about 10 minutes after I picked up the food, chicken and rice was very good with plenty of teriyaki sauce. The menu here is very big and I think that they would probably make about anything that you would want. Very friendly and fast service!

Yelp
This place is terrible! Not only is the food bland and cheap quality. Additionally, the ladies behind the counter always price adjust, and its always more than their signage says. WTF? I asked for them not to include rice in their chicken teriyaki bowl, and they told me it was $3 more to omit rice?! I was very clear that I didn't expect more of anything, I just didn't want the rice. The price went from $7 to $10. Another time I went they didn't charge me differently. But the last time I went in, the ladies clearly thought they could sucker me out of $3 more dollars for less food. I should have probably listened to my coworkers and steered clear of this place altogether.

Yelp
Ended up here after being stuck waiting for tires at Les Swab. I decided to see what the area had to offer. Walking up, I had no idea what this place was going to be, but I was pleasantly surprised once I got in. King's Deli is a nice little affordable lunch-time eatery. I ordered the daily special and I can't imagine getting a better deal anywhere else. I got steamed cabbage, rice, chicken teriyaki, 3 shrimp and a soda. Most of there food is Chinese style affair but I did notice some burgers and fries and even breakfast. While living in NE it's nice to find a place like this that's feeds the neighborhood.

Yelp
There's not much to say, what I can tell you is the French Toast was really bad, taste like it was cooked in old bacon grease. When I used the restroom the toilet paper was on the floor. Gross

C G.

Yelp
Zero costumer skills, all they want is your money. And also please don't be stingy and hand out more napkins with a meal. One napkin per meal cannot be key to success.

Yelp
This place is right down the road from my work, so it's nice that it's close and they cook things quickly. Is it the best Chinese food I've ever had? No, not even close. I am a San Francisco native and I might have higher standards then most Oregonians with Chinese food. If it resembles Panda Express, you aren't going to win me over. Noodles, meh, rice, meh, general tsao chicken, eh alright(5/10). If you are close by and need something quick to eat I would say stop by, why not. It's priced pretty well and you get a decent portion. If you want advice on what to order: The teriyaki short ribs are the best bang for your buck that you can get. Taste wise and cost wise.

Yelp
This is a pretty good place it's not far from where I lay over in my big truck on Mondays. Is it like Medford Chinese food? Is it the best Chinese food I've ever had? No to both those questions... however, it does fill the void when I'm craving something Chinese and I'm 280 miles away from home. I say give it a try

Yelp
Was in Portland for a week to help open up a store. This Deli was right across the street, decided to stroll right over there and try it our. It wasn't that bad, had a roast beef sandwich on white. It's nothing that you would tell mom about! But it did the job. Had my sammi, chips, and soda! Left there with a smile on my face and finished the work day off!! If I was ever back at that store again, Yes! I would come here again.

Yelp
I used King's deli for a work event and placed around 15 personalized orders for our clients. I brought the order in the day before and scheduled to pick up the next day. They got everything perfect and everyone was very happy with their food. For the price, they really can not be beat. Highly recommended for your next work function. It sure beats the same old same old pizza and is probably less expensive as well.

Yelp
First time I came here I ordered a Prime rib dip sandwich. Which was absolutely terrible the bread they use was not suited at all for the sand which and they used roast beef deli meat instead of prime rib meat. The only thing that was decent about the sandwich was the juice you dip your sandwich in. I gave it another try and I ordered general tso chicken, sweet and sour Pork with chow mein. The meat was not bad they just don't give you a whole lot of it. I did not like the chow mein one bit. Its boiled noodles with no sauce on it. To say the least I probably will not be returning back to eat here.

Yelp
I don't even remember how I found this place but I love it. I came here for the teriyaki and haven't even ever tried anything else because it's the best teriyaki I've found in Portland (and great portions). It's simple, just rice, meat, and a good teriyaki sauce. Don't let the outside fool you, this place is a must try for their Japanese cuisine.

Yelp
Kings o my kings! Home stile amlets from cranky kookarba is so freshly made. All give 5. And Rome corona drink is heavenly delicious . Working next doors is so huge deal , no need to drive . 5 min and enjoy.

Yelp
I've been going to Kings since they first opened up. They offer a good selection of subs, sandwiches and Chinese food. You can beat the amount of food you get for the price you pay.

Yelp
I ate here on 12/4/15. Let me just say this place is disgusting, looks like it hasn't been cleaned, horrible costumer service, and the food was TERRIBLE. I'd rather go to McDonald's then eat here. Worst burger i ever tried. (I've had better at gas stations) the chinese was dried out. I wouldn't even feed my dog this "food" i am highly displeased this place is still running it should have a thorough cleaning inspection done. I've worked at many restaurants and never ever been inside of one so nasty dirty and unsanitary. Waste of my money and time. I will never be back. Warning anyone who eats there to reconsider. I wouldn't even feed a dog this crap.

Yelp
Very good Chinese food and teriyaki. Portions are generous and at a good price. The new owners are very friendly. If you're in the area give this place a try.

Yelp
A nice little lunch spot which specializes in Chinese cuisine, but offers a variety of sandwiches as well. If you go in during the early afternoon, business is slow, I've been the only customer at times. You can sit and watch CNN while you eat. I good way to catch up on the days news.

Yelp
Best kimchi (kimchee) in town. If you don't have a korean momma, get your kimchi fix here. Amazing. Their beef spareribs are delish!
