North County Fish House Reopening Next Week | Eater San Diego

"I learned that King's Fish House Carlsbad reopens Monday, December 3 after a multi-million-dollar remodel of its 7,065-square-foot, 15-year-old space located off Palomar Airport Road across from the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. The restaurant was redesigned and modernized by Hatch Design Group with nautical themes, updated indoor and outdoor seating, a wrap-around cocktail and raw bar, and floor-to-ceiling garage doors. With a menu dominated by seafood — supported by the parent company's own seafood distribution center — the raw bar will feature local mussels from nearby Carlsbad Aquafarm, regional oysters, and wild San Diego rock crab." - Candice Woo

We loved this place so much we came twice in the same day. First time we arrived around 1130 and they barely had enough servers to be open so the hostess actually became our waitress. I had the “1st mate” seafood platter which was amazing, and my wife the sea bass which she loved. Dinner I had the seafood cobb, the caterpillar sushi roll and my wife had a grilled salmon. Our kids had pasta with marinara and mac&cheese which they really enjoyed. Service in the evening was much better and the food again was amazing. We’ll absolutely be back!

We were seated promptly at our reservation time. We began with draft Guinness which was spot on. For starters we ordered four different pairs of oysters and some sour dough bread. The bread was delivered right away and was good. However, we were sitting for quite a while when I waved over our server and asked what happened to the oysters. He said he'd check and shortly brought them over. About a minute after the oysters were brought to our table, our main dishes were also placed on the table. The timing was disappointing. We felt rushed to eat the oysters before our mains got cold. The oysters were fresh and two of the four were particularly tasty- the Summerstones and the Old Salt. The Crunchy Lobster roll was nicely done and very crunchy. The trout with almonds was perfectly cooked but somewhat bland. Adding salt and pepper did help. The sides of northern roasted vegetables were quite good, but the corn had a lot of silk mixed in and was disappointing.

Highly recommend! Outstanding staff. Very nice but casual atmosphere. Great food. Kid friendly (but not run around being loud type of place in my opinion) My son was exhausted from being at the beach all day so he just sat quietly eating.. he ate ALL of his food. The waitress and servers were very attentive to us and him. We all enjoyed it Can't wait to visit again next time I'm in the area.

The food was good, great oyster selections at the bar. Most of them seem small though. The one starts with Sol Azul I think was best, creamy. Grilled scallops and octopus (this was a bit dry) were cooked well.

Google
the food was pretty good, fries were very salty though. we tried to make a few lighthearted jokes at the beginning when meeting our server to break the ice(which the server should be doing anyways) and the server ignored us and had a straight face. she was very blunt and short with us. not very kind, friendly, or outgoing

Google
$35 for my scallops plate. Each scallop about the size of a quarter. Mashed potatoes about 1/3 size of my palm. 1/4 cup veggies (if that!). Wife had two fish tacos with about 7 tortilla chips. Dad had the same. Mom had chicken salad. Bill came up to $139.00. Safe to say won’t be fleeced again eating here.

Google
Decent food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices. I really like the remodeled location in Carlsbad feels like you’re stepping into a high-end restaurant. Their sushi is wonderful . They bring really good bread to the table. I tried this spicy Manhattan style seafood soup which wasn’t very good - just too watery for my taste. I would return here to try their other dishes . Seafood in general is expensive and it’s hard to find a good restaurant with fresh fish.

Google
It was a little bit of a wait, but when I say it was worth it! I mean it was worth it! Such a great variety of options on the menu for seafood and non seafood lovers. Everything came out fresh and full of flavor. Surprisingly, it is not that expensive for the quality of food and service. It's definitely a nice restaurant. I'd recommend taking any family who's visiting or just a date night with the fam! 10/10

Yelp
Kevin was the best server! We always love the food at Fish House is always great, but the kindness and attentiveness of our server made it the best ever. Thank you

Yelp
as looking for a seafood spot in Carlsbad and figured we couldn't go wrong with their wide range of choices. My husband wanted the top sirloin and I went with the seafood. Food was great, super tasty and satisfied our cravings. We arrived with no wait time and the service was pleasant with comfortable seating. It was a nice, pleasant evening with no loudness - great for families and dinner dates. I'd definitely come to this location again. Lots of parking available.

Yelp
Big parking lot and perfectly situated across the street from the Carlsbad Outlets. My first time to this restaurant. We sat in the bar area and were surprised to see oysters available on the bar. I've never seen one and although it's not my thing, it was cool to see. We will return. Food was wonderful and ambience was relaxing. Service was good and staff looked nice in their dark blue shirts.

Yelp
Dinner here started out like a scene from a great night out--good food, a lively atmosphere, and an outstanding waitress named Jana who nailed the service. Then came Superman Gary, ready to save the day from... absolutely nothing. Just as we were finishing our meal, he swooped in--dramatic (burgundy/red) cape and all--to demand we turn down our toddler's iPad. The giant restaurant was buzzing with laughter, conversations, and clinking glasses & silverware, yet Superman Gary zeroed in on us like it was some villain-level crisis. When asked if anyone complained, he admitted no one had. His superpower? A pair of super ears that could supposedly hear from the other side of this giant restaurant the lovely tunes of a child's iPad. His other superpower, binocular eyes capable of spotting people looking around and deciding they must be "uncomfortable." Forget reading minds--Gary assumes discomfort, then flies in for a tantrum. Here's the truth: with Superman Gary on patrol, normal dining behavior is dangerous territory. Talk too loud, your phone rings, a toddler's iPad is visible or someone dares to glance your way? Gary will swoop in, puff up, and make a scene. His non-existent apology ("sorry if you felt I was aggressive") was about as heroic as kryptonite. What should have been a wonderful evening was undone by the pitiful spectacle of an adult child in a manager's uniform staging his own meltdown and that ladies & gentlemen is the irony...Superman Gary had the meltdown, not my toddler. And in the end, Gary was very successful--I will never return.

Yelp
We had a very disappointing experience at King's Fish House in Carlsbad. The evening started off fine, drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive, but our server was attentive and professional, and the food was decent. Unfortunately, everything was ruined by the manager, Gary. This is an open-air restaurant on a Saturday night, nearly at full capacity, with constant background noise, music, chatter, clattering plates. Yet, literally five minutes before we were about to leave, Gary walked over out of nowhere and demanded that we "turn down" the volume on a 3-year-old toddler's iPad because he claimed he could hear it from 20 feet away. I was sitting right next to it and could barely hear anything. When we asked if any guests had complained, he admitted no one had, but he just "saw another table look in our direction." That's absurd. People glance at other tables all the time for countless reasons. For a restaurant manager to single out a toddler like that is unnecessary, unprofessional, and frankly pathetic. We left the restaurant feeling furious! It's one thing to be disappointed about food, but it's a whole new level when an adult manager chooses to nitpick a 3-year-old child. Whether Gary was having a bad day or simply doesn't like kids, he achieved one thing: ensuring we will never return to this or any other King's Fish House. Families with children, think twice before dining here!!

Yelp
Let's start on the positive side. Service was great, 5 stars and I am bummed that I did not get the servers name to pay her a personal compliment. Smiling, friendly, checked on us the perfect amount and kept our drinks and waters full. Awesome job. Three of us converged on King's to discuss some heavy business issues. I was happy to make the reservation here since I have been to this location and others several times and always a good meal. We started with some garlic edamame and calamari to chomp on while we perused the menu. Order came out quickly. Garlic edamame was cooked well, not mealy like they can be. The issue was the lack of flavor. I saw the sauce& garlic but it was really bland. Did not make sense, but that was the deal. We were hungry and ate most anyway. The calamari was decent but a bit greasy. Taste was low side of OK and sauces were helpful to cover that up! Client ordered the bluefin tuna and really liked it. Good. Biz partner ordered a bowl of NE Clam Chowder and salad. Chowder was a bit fishy smelling but did not stop him from finishing it. Salad was fine. I ordered the blackened Ono sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich showed up without fries. The server said they were coming up. I have had this before and this time it was the worst I've had. A very small bun with slaw strewn across the sandwich and plate. The ono was 4-5 separate pieces so when I picked it up pieces fell out every which way. I kept going and as I ate I put pieces back into the bun and ate those as I reloaded along the way. Fries showed up and were fine. The weird sandwich threw me off concerning the overall culinary aspect of the lunch, but I did not complain as I needed to move on to our heavy biz topics and glad we did. Server was awesome as we spent another 1.5 hours hashing out our business issues at the table. I love Kings and will be back. Can't hit 100% so I chalk it up to a bad day in the kitchen. Go! Eat Well!! Have fun!!!

Yelp
Went here Friday night and there were a lot of cars. Went inside & we got to sit outside. Very exciting for me since I've never sat there before. Bonus was: there was no wait either! The outside and dim yellow lighting but still enough light to see and read your menu and to see your food. We ordered the 12 oyster sampler, a cup of clam chowder, shrimp taquitos, BBQ shrimp, beer, and wine. The first to come out was the cup of clam chowder and then the oysters. The clam chowder was so creamy! It's one of my favorites. The only thing that would make it perfect was a bit more classic. The oysters were great but there was one type that was very cranny, and that was quite weird for my taste buds. I hope not to get that one again. The BBQ shrimp which was basically cajun arrived. It was very good. The bread that came with it was garlicky and butter. The tomato sauce was flavorful and I ended up using it as a do for the shrimp taquitos. Last to come out was the shrimp taquitos. Very crunch, but there was a lack of flavor and the guacamole that came with it was old. It was turning brown and didn't taste good. The little cabbage salad under the shrimp taquitos was tasty. This was the first visit that there was a disappointing dish, but that won't stop us from coming back.

Yelp
I had always wanted to come here, but just hadn't made it. When I was asked where I wanted to go for my birthday, I named three places and this was the choice made. We arrived with a reservation, but it wasn't too crowded. The staff and service were very attentive all the way through. Some of the best service I've had in a long time. They gave us warm bread with butter to start which I always love. I ordered linguine with clams and he ordered cioppino. The clams were cooked well, but it was very bland. It needed something. I kept adding salt, but it wasn't enough. The cioppino was good and there was a lot of different seafood in it, all of it was cooked well. I had two small issues. There was a bowl on the table I assume for the shells, it looked like it had been dumped and put back on the table. It wasn't clean. At the time, I made my reservation I noted it was a birthday celebration, but that was never acknowledged. When dessert was offered I asked if they did anything for birthdays and she said they did. She offered key lime pie & bread pudding as the choices I would have liked the bread pudding but I went with the Keylime pie, because I was too full and I knew it would be lighter. It was perfectly tart and slightly sweet. Perfect was to finish off a nice dinner. After finishing the meal, we wondered why we hadn't been here sooner. We decided we would love to come back and try other things and we will.

Yelp
We normally come here for their Lobster rolls. Their Mac and Cheese is also delicious. I wasn't so impressed with the fish. My Brussels sprouts were kinda burned. We came during a slow time and service was slow. I'm giving them a 3 star just because service was not the greatest.

Yelp
Been here before and this is such a great restaurant. Tonight was not quite as good as other visits, but still good. No appetizer tonight, my wife ordered fish and chips, I got shrimp and scallops. Two of the shrimp were over cooked. The scallops were perfect though. The spinach and garlic mash were really good too. I had a bit of my wife's fish and chips. I loved it, she didn't like it as much as me. She also doesn't love fish and chips as much as me. The chocolate cake foe dessert was unbelievable. Tasted homemade and was super moist.

Yelp
Our second visit was as great as the first. 1/2 dozen oysters, edamame, grilled artichoke and a salad, split with my wife was the perfect lunch for us. She thought there was too much garlic on the edamame, but I enjoyed it. The oysters were delicious with 4 different ramekins of horse radish and sauce to try. They were not busy when we arrived so service was prompt. The open air seating was something we enjoyed since back home in St. Louis, it was 100° with high humidity.

Yelp
Wow! Our first time here... but not our last. Wonderful! We came here on a whim for our anniversary. The food was so so good. Free key lime pie and NO corkage fee! We'll see you again soon.

Yelp
Our 1rst time to Kings Fish House with 12 family members in town for a Reunion. We all enjoyed our dishes. I had the Wild Sea Bass which was mighty tasty. Husband had the Mixed Seafood & was pleased Large portions. Friendly attentive service. Nice atmosphere. We look forward to returning as we live close by . The bar area also looked inviting

Yelp
We came here weeks ago for my brothers birthday. Seating was plentiful so we were able to get seated fairly quickly. SERVICE - The hostess was kind and found a table for us. The waitress was incredibly sweet and patient as we had three toddlers with us. I had some questions about the menu and she kindly gave me wonderful opinions. FOOD Complimentary Sourdough - Who can say no to fresh bread with butter? This was a good starter. Calamari - Crispy exterior and a good bite. Some calamari apps can get pretty chewy but this one was solid. Shrimp Bucatini Pasta - I did not eat the shrimp on this so cannot comment on it. However, I tried the pasta and the garlic cream sauce was A*! It was creamy and savory. Perfectly paired w the pasta. Miso Yaki - The fish melted in your mouth. The flavor of the sauce reminded us of Roy's butterfish. It was delicious. My little ended up liking this more than her own dish and devoured it. Kids Salmon - As mentioned, this ended up being my dish since my toddler switched with me. Still so good. Fresh and grilled. Good sized piece for a kids meal too. Needless to say, we have been back here again. The service and the food were all great so this will be a staple for us.

Yelp
Hubby & I came to King's Fish House for dinner on our day trip to the Carlsbad area on a Friday night. Right across from the Carlsbad Outlets, we were in search of a place for dinner to wait for traffic to die down before heading back towards LA. We saw the signage for King's Fish and decided to give them a try. I didn't realize they're a chain, but will have to try their other locations closer to home soon! Ample parking lot and the indoor vibes are dark wood, a little intimate and bar staff were all great. We walked in and were told the wait would be at least 25 minutes for a table, but we were welcome to try to find a seat at the bar for immediate seating & full menu service. We snagged a couple of bar seats and ordered accordingly: -King's Spicy Seafood Chowder, this was good and definitely has a kick. Taste kind of reminds me a of a gumbo. I'd probably order the bowl in the future! -Two If By Sea (Cocktail), was pretty sweet for me...but I loved the taste! Would order again, grapefruit + floral notes. -Sauteed N'awlins BBQ Shrimp (Entree portion, comes with rice), this was an appetizer we were eyeing and then one of the bartenders suggested we get the entree portion since it would come with rice and we're very glad we did. Decent portion size and definitely spicy, tangy, and delicious! Served with cheese bread, yum! -Blackened Scallops came with two choices of sides. We got the Zucchini and Cauliflower. This portion was a bit small, but I loved the scallops. Bar area has a few TVs around for games, and restrooms were fairly clean. Service was quick. They also gave complimentary bread & butter (and we asked for olive oil & balsamic vinegar instead, which they oblige and provided).

Yelp
Stop by, must try, classy oyster bar. From the outside appearance I was kind of expecting this place to be similar to Joe's Crab Shack but couldn't be further from it. Not tacky in the slightest and the most delectable dishes to be had, even the bread and butter. The garlic edamame was made to where you could eat and enjoy the skin. Walnut and bleu cheese salad... amazing! Seafood chowder had that good umami fish taste to it. The oyster sampler had 2 of each oyster but my favorites were the kumamoto. Didn't get pics but also tried the keylime pie along with the bread pudding, no complaints. Service was good, nothing crazy. Very satisfied and counting the days until my next visit.

Yelp

Yelp
KING's FISH HOUSE My boyfriend took me here last week for our anniversary and this place was incredible! It was so old-fashioned rich money vibes, and I absolutely loved all the decor that they added, included the fish decor above the bar, a whole wine case, and a view of the kitchen. The waiter took forever to serve us, it felt like we were staring at the menu for 15 minutes. Later on they brought out some bread which was fairly nice, hot and fluffy. We started off with the calamari, which was delicious and I'd love to get it again! It was a bit oily, but still delicious. Now to the main course, I decided to get the original fish and chips, which came with fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, ketchup, and the two pieces of fish. The fries were worse than Mcdonald's, they were cold, unseasoned, and plain. The fish itself was delicious, but it left a huge oil mark on the sheet, I wish they let it dry off for a second or pat the fish down before serving. I felt the drips of oil when i took a bite of fish. Overall the experience was delightful, I really enjoyed the food and the flavor. The bread was fantastic and our server was a lot more active after our food came to ask how we were doing. Parking was easy and free out in the front. While we left, an employee opened the door to apologize for a huge barf in front of the doorway, someone had an accident but they were very polite and apologize for the inconvenience. Would come back, this place was delicious!

Linda L.

Yelp
-service, 3 star. -Free bread, 5 star -King combo platter, 3 star. It tasted off like the oil was not at the right temperature before frying. You can totally taste the difference with the fries. The fried scallops were big. fried shrimp can be better when fried properly. -Lobster claim bake, 4 Star. Lobster is fresh but over cooked. The corns tasted under cooked. The claims were huge and good. Boiled red potatoes are alright. The sausages tasted good with their hot garlic sauce. I like that they provided a soup on a side to pour over or dripping. Everything tastes good with butter! -fried calamari, 3 star. The body of the calamari is cut too thick, 2 in. Some of the tentacles are burnt. The sweet and sour dipping sauce is surprising good. -claim chowder is okay, 3star. Has long strip of bacons in it? look and tasted like it.

Yelp
An absolute must try restaurant if you're a fan of seafood! This restaurant has the freshest seafood in Southern California and a wide variety of options to choose from. The yellowtail and calamari appetizers were the tastiest seafood I've had in a while. The bread you get to start is TO DIE FOR! It is very warm and flavorful. So definitely eat it fresh right away! Service is usually quick and helpful but being a busy night, we had waited longer than usual. I had reservations on a Friday night, which I recommend doing on busy weekend nights. You can find plenty of seating during lunch hours without a reservation. Bathrooms are located inside and are very clean and accessible. Parking is very abundant as they have their own lot. This is pricy, but as expected as you're in Carlsbad eating exquisite seafood. I'd recommend coming here any day and especially on special occasions!

Yelp
If you come here then just get the fish. Save the sushi for the Japanese restaurants. Experimented with the softshell crab which was good but still nothing special. Think you are best off with the halibut or other fishies they got. Only good desert is butter cake one as well.
google avatar

Yelp
We came for lunch and was stuffed! We got there early before our noon RSVP and were seated quickly. When we left there was quite a crowd with many walk-ins coming. The outlet mall is nearby so this restaurant is a welcome respite. We didn't know this restaurant has other locations closer to us in the Los Angeles area so we gotta try those. We shared some calamari, sea bass tacos, and the kings platter. We were quite full. The seafood tasted fresh and their distinct flavors came out even the fried entrees. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
Decent food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices. I really like the remodeled location in Carlsbad feels like you're stepping into a high-end restaurant. Their sushi is wonderful . They bring really good bread to the table. I tried this spicy Manhattan style seafood soup which wasn't very good - just too watery for my taste. I would return here to try their other dishes . Seafood in general is expensive and it's hard to find a good restaurant with fresh fish.

Yelp
Came here not expecting much of a chain restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. There was an hour wait time on Saturday afternoon and we ended up sitting by the seafood bar !! I think we lucked out by doing that. Felix was our server/bartender and he was exceptional!! Everything he recommended was excellent. The food was so tasty we forgot to take pics except for the one taste of the scallops we had. We will definitely be back in our next visit to Carlsbad !!

Yelp
My second time here and I think I've decided the best thing at King's Fish House is the bread. I don't know if that's good or bad but the sourdough always comes to the table hot, the crust is crispy and crunchy, and the inside is light and fluffy. I honestly would come here just for the bread. This time I got a bowl of the clam chowder and thought it was just okay, it's not super hearty. Then I got the seared yellowfin salad. The tuna was cooked perfectly and everything was really fresh. I don't know that I would get it again because there's so many other options on the menu I'd want to try. I also had a few nibbles of my husbands seafood Cobb and that was really good as well. Service was a little slow this time but I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in Carlsbad.

Yelp
What an exceptional experience tonight being served by Jordon Jess and Tanner! I came out to celebrate my 62nd birthday and as usual the service was above and beyond! As always they me treated like a queen at Kings and the lobster tails were the best I've ever had. We also ordered the delicious Lue pool and Kumono oysters! Thank you for making my birthday a very, very special week Oh and the Keylime dessert with the espresso martini was a perfect pairing . Love you all at King's Fish House in Carlsbad. xoxo

Yelp
The ambiance is as if you were on a ship - wooden interiors, dull lighting, fish murals and models around you...this meal could be anything that you want it to be - an intimate date night, a casual dinner with friends, a work dinner or hangout...the ambiance works for everything. We got a reservation and I don't know if you need one or not, but it worked. We got seated right away. The server was nice enough and didn't bother us too much. The food was so so. We ordered the King's Spicy Seafood Chowder, the grilled Rainbow Trout with sides of mashed potatoes and carrots, and the Lemon Nut Crusted Wild Mexican White sea bass with sides of grilled zucchini and flash fried cauliflower. The seafood chowder was very watery and not spicy, so I'd rather have had the clam chowder instead. I think I expected this to be a spicier version of the clam chowder, so it was disappointing to taste watery soup with some seafood and veggies. The trout was decent but needed some of the lemon sauce from the sea bass and way more butter to make it flavorful. The mashed potatoes needed more seasoning. The carrots were great! The sea bass was the better dish except that the crust was so thick that it felt like it had been breaded and fried twice over. The consistency tasted more like chicken than fish. The zucchini was interesting and we enjoyed it for sure. The cauliflower was also pretty good. Both fish were quite heavy and it took a lot for us to finish them. We ended up taking quite a bit home. Pricing wise, this is expensive for the quality of food. Based on the reviews, I expected more from the food and it did not deliver. We might be back but will see.

Yelp
We go especially for the East Coast oyster choices. Always fresh and many varieties. If you're nice, they'll waive the corkage. Fish entrees have risen (no Kidd) and portions seem a bit smaller. Great servers. Can be noisy depending on where you seated. Covered patio or indoors

Yelp
I have been coming to King's with friends and family for years. It's our go to spot for all celebrations and it has never disappointed. Today was no exception....except I have to mention that Yana (spelled Jana on the bill) was one of the BEST servers we have ever had here!! She was exceptional!

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday night. My dinner guests arrived before my party and were given a 45 minute wait time for our party of 6. The wait ended up being about 25 minutes. Their indoor and outdoor seating is nice, classy, and the restaurant is perfect for that special occasion or a casual dinner. They have shades that filter out the bright lights when dining outdoors and they have heaters overhead to keep you warm and toasty. Their kids menu comes in an activity book with stickers and their drinks come in plastic reusable cups with straws. They also have several kid friendly options and dessert too :) Great job making this kid friendly! We ordered: Cioppino with pasta - good portion size and looked great! Pan seared fish with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies- another solid choice Bowl of clam chowder - loaded with all the good stuff! Seared yellowfin salad- fresh tuna with an excellent salad dressing!! Halibut- Fresh and cooked and seasoned perfectly! Chocolate cake- looked amazing! Key Lime Pie- Well balanced citrus taste with tang. So fresh and delightful! Kids chocolate ice cream Service was attentive and fast and we had a fantastic dinner! For a party of 6, the cost of dinner was very reasonable. Thank you!

Yelp
Everything is fresh and decently priced for the quality of the fish. We started off with the shellfish platter which was plenty to share for 3 of us. Their bread and butter is delicious. I got the mahi mahi with the cauliflower which was good and the Mac and cheese which unfortunately was a little dry. My husband got the blackened swordfish with the asparagus and mashed potatoes which all were very delicious. The kid menu has a lot of variety for the little ones which is always a plus for those wanting to try new things. We came on a Friday and it was not busy but it can be busy especially during summer times.

Yelp
All of it was great! Food, service and ambiance were a really nice surprise for my husband and I. We hadn't been to the Carlsbad location since before the renovation and my hubby loved his food and our server made some great suggestions for us. The place is beautifully renovated with a more upscale vibe indicative of the food quality. Great experience. Thank you!

Yelp
The service we received tonight was absolutely outstanding! Brooke was our waitress and she was very attentive, positive, fast and patient. She made excellent recommendations as to what we should order for dinner and made us feel like family. I recommend everyone in a 25 miles radius to come and have dinner here and I hope that they receive Brooke level treatment! 10/10

Yelp
Stopped in for our annual trip to Carlsbad. King's is always one of our go to places when in town. Saturday at 1 pm and it was pretty empty. It's a very large venue but I seen nearly full many times. We got seated immediately and were greeted by our server Abby. She was amazing, a 6 Star plus the entire time. Super attentive and friendly. THANK YOU ABBY for an amazing experience. I order the swordfish blackened style with field green salad and Mac n cheese side. The fish was absolute perfection. The Mac n cheese was crazy good. My wife her favorite Sand Dabs with Brussels sprouts and rice as her sides. She thought it was all very good. This place never disappoints. It is a bit pricey but worth it imho.

Yelp
It is pretty close to Legoland and the premium outlets. Made a reservation online for indoor seating and came over with kids. We arrived but got seated outside.... It is okay but a little chilly at night. We got a kids fried shrimp as starter for kids. I had 3 oysters to start. Kids had Mac and cheese, fish and chips. I got the miso sea bass. I enjoyed my oysters. It was really fresh, brining back memories from my childhood. Sea bass was awesome. Love the flavor and texture. Kids are okay with their food. I enjoyed my rose. Service was friendly and they work hard. I would like to come back next time and visit the outlets around. It was a good evening out with kiddos.

Yelp
I like Kings. My wife and I typically come here for special occasions. I especially enjoy the Oyster Samplers as they have a great variety. But this time I just had the fish taco plate. It was very good. The Service was prompt and brought us lots of bread and drink refills. It's a little darker than the mission valley location and this one has a more upscale feel although I enjoy both locations. The fish tacos were excellent and so was our desert. I tend to over order here, so I skipped the apps this time around. I think he pictures of the food can speak for themselves. Just looking back at the makes me want to go back for more.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday for lunch and it was a good experience but I've defintiely had better here. I got the shrimp and scallop and it only came with 2.5 scallops.... I just feel like give me 3 at least? The mashed potatoes were a bit too puréed. The bread was the best part of the meal - wish we got more of that.

Yelp
We've been here several times, it's a chain but the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Today we were car shopping and took a break for lunch. It was a warm but overcast day, so we sat on the porch. Munched on yummy bread while waiting. My sister had sand dabs, which were fried and okay. I had grilled shrimp which were good, and I enjoyed the corn and asparagus sides.

Yelp
Took my daughter and her friend for dinner. Everything was yummy. My daughter got the warm butter lobster roll, her friend got the bbq shrimp, and I got the scallops and shrimp. We all loved our dishes. To top it off we got the butter cake for dessert. Yum.

Yelp
A nice first time eating here for thanksgiving. We got calamari, oysters, cocktails, beer, wine, swordfish, cioppino with dungeons crab. I enjoyed my passing thyme cocktail and decoy Pinot noir. My bf loved his swordfish. Service was good, but she did make a mistake at the end with our check. The ambiance was nice and dark with high ceilings.

Yelp
A very nice restaurant with a large selection of seafood dishes. Parking is very easy as they have their own lot. Service is also excellent. The ambiance is very nice but I think the lighting is a little low. I ordered the Trout Almandine with a cup of clam chowder. It took a while to get the main dish but it tasted very good (so did the clam chowder). I truly enjoyed the meal and would probably come back if I am in the area again.

Yelp
We like to eat here for early dinner, usually after Legoland or the Outlet mall, because it's so close. I have eaten with friends & family at this location multiple times over multiple years, and everyone enjoys it for different reasons. Some like the oysters and cocktails, whereas others like the fish entrees, clam chowder, and the warm sourdough bread. There's something for anyone, including red meat eaters. My favorites are the halibut, chowder, sourdough, beet salad, crab cakes, and key lime pie. I usually choose the baked potato and carrots for my sides. The staff is always really helpful and friendly. Expect to have to wait for a table during peak times, and on weekends. You can eat at the bar, but I prefer to wait for a booth.

Yelp
First time here and what a beautiful restaurant! The food options are overwhelmingly great. Complimentary bread, and heat warmers for patio seating. Very comfortable booths and table options. I like how the restaurant does not have loud music playing so you can actually hear your guests. The flavors are exceptional. Yummy! The waitress was not very warm.

Yelp
Amazing drinks, amazing food! The oysters **chefs kiss** I recently had a girls dinner here with some cousins and we had a great time full of laughs, the waiter could've been a tad more friendly but the cocktails helped us forgive the lack of personality he had.

Yelp
Delicious fried fish! Ten out of Ten. Decorated Lovely! Great patio ambiance and would probably be nicer inside, and a fantastic location! I've shopped in this area and stayed close by a few times but this was my first time to eat King's Fish...can't believe it took me so long to realize such a great place was here! Lunch menu is wonderful. Fried fish was scrumptious. It was all so lovely and pleasant on an afternoon in April with my girlfriends. Let's also talk about the aesthetic and how pleasing it is...I so enjoyed this lunch!

Yelp
Was up in Carlsbad for a conference and was feeling something fishy. Came here, sat at the bar with Miranda and she was AMAZING!!! Super patient, helpful, and willing to answer all my questions! She made some incredible recommendations, but I think given the flavors I got from my selections, that everything on the menu is incredible! Starting with the earm bread and butter which were amazing, then the scallops and fish were expertly cooked, and the butterfly shrimp were fried to perfection. The restaurant had a very calm vibe and after a long day, it was everything I could have asked for. Oh, and the pumpkin cheesecake will live in my mind for a while.
