Where to Get Takeout and Delivery in Brooklyn Right Now, July 2020

"Kings Kolache expanded earlier this year from a delivery and catering-only operation to its own shop in East Williamsburg, bringing its popular mashup of Czech-Tex kolaches — plus breakfast tacos — to a larger audience. The menu features a selection of sweet and savory kolaches including a smoked sausage, cheese, and candied jalapeno concoction and a sweet cream cheese kolache with a blueberry-lemon compote mixed in. The restaurant is open for takeout and delivery via Grubhub from Tuesday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m." - Eater Staff

15 Top Breakfast Tacos in NYC - Eater NY

"Perched on the border of Ridgewood and Bushwick, Kings Kolache is really just a counter and a window, dispensing good coffee and even better kolaches and breakfast tacos, with only a couple of choices of both each day. The owners are the husband and wife team Paul and Sarah Morgan Ashey. Outdoor tables are covered with street maps of the Texas capital to help you forget you’re in central Queens and not central Texas. With its breezy sidewalk patio and laid back service, this place captures Austin’s Lamar Street vibe." - Eater Staff

Where to Find Iconic Regional America Dishes Across NYC - Eater NY

"Run by Paul Ashley, a native of the Houston area suburb of Katy, Texas, and his wife Sarah, Kings Kolache in Bushwick goes all in on the Texas nostalgia. They serve dishes far beyond the Czech-Tex delicacy with breakfast tacos, frito pies, and a rare find in NYC: Whataburger ketchup, a spicier version of the tomato-based condiment from the well-known chain. While you’re there, get a cup of coffee from the famous Austin coffee shop Mozart’s." - Andy Hirschfeld

Google
Incredible kolaches and breakfast tacos! Both were warm, fresh and delicious. Adorable decor inside with lawn chairs outside, but be aware that this is a tiny shop mostly consisting of the serving counter! Exactly 6 seats inside. I’ll be back again for sure!

Google
Kings Kolache is THE BEST! The kolaches and coffee are so delicious and the owners are the kindest people, with such warmth and hospitality. We’re so lucky to have them in the neighborhood!

Victoria Boncompagni

Google
I get excited to bring friends here so I can see their faces once they bite a kolache! Every time I have one I think about how crazy good the dough is, no clue how they do it. The owners (I’m assuming) are the kindest ever. So consistently bright and welcoming, thank you!

Madeline Weber

Google
The best of the best! Whether you want some breakfast tacos, kolaches, or just a coffee, the amazing folks behind the counter will get you exactly what you need :) not only is the staff amazing but the food is DELICIOUS! Tons of options so come back many times and try them all. Super quick for delivery through Uber too!

Google
Breakfast tacos are easily one of the best foods around. They keep ‘em easy. Not a huge departure from a bodega breakfast taco, but their pastries are the differentiator. They have their always-available choices (blueberry, jalapeño cheddar) and rotating sweet + savory options. Get two tacos and a kolache and you’re set. The space is small, but they have seating outside for when the weather suits it. There are some interesting pantry foods available to buy as well.

Google
Wonderful little spot for kolaches, breakfast tacos, and more. Made the trip from Manhattan just for this and it was well worth it! Incredibly friendly team, and the kolaches were fluffy pillows of dough. Hit my the spot for my Texan heart. The maple sausage & egg kolache is basically a McGriddle’s way cooler older sibling. YUM.

Google
Sarah and Paul are THE BEST!! The food is top notch and the vibes are even better. As a native Texan this is my GO TO spot for breakfast tacos and kolaches. 110% recommend. Plus they have Mozart’s coffee and What A Burger ketchup!!!!

Alice Young

Google
As a native Texan, I can confirm the kolaches are close to authentic. The portions of meat are a fraction of what you would get at Praseks or any other country bakery (the reason for 4/5 stars). The sweet kolaches are where I would say they do best, and they typically have unique flavors you wouldn't find at any run of the mill bakery in Texas. The bread is prepared PERFECTLY. All in all they're good enough to give me something close to what I would have to travel home to get

Yelp
Best food in Brooklyn .. Made with love delicious!!! Make it your favorite breakfast spot! Also great for lunch or a late night snack! Fabulous!!

Yelp
I was really looking forward to trying this place but unfortunately was disappointed beyond repair with literally everything. I ordered delivery and got two kolaches and a red eye. First and foremost, if drinks are delivered it should probably be intact right? The drink spilled absolutely everywhere and on top of that tasted terrible. I got the bacon cheddar jalapeño kolache and blueberry cream cheese- both of which were awful and the best part is you can't tell which one was worse. There was barely any filling in both and the bread was stale and dry, the complete opposite of what a kolache should be. Save yourself from this new spot that can't make drinks or food ready and stick to the OG Brooklyn Kolache instead who is expanding and rightfully so.

Yelp
This was delicious and I enjoyed the lemon chess the most out of all flavors. I will try more flavors in the near future.

Yelp
I wanted to update my review because I still love Kings Kolache! I love their rotating kolache options and the vegetarian Migas breakfast taco. Their delivery is always super fast which is great. They are now on an app called ChowNow that has lower fees for delivery and more goes to the business.

Yelp
A nice little taste of Texas in the city. The tacos are foil-wrapped bites of all the classic breakfast goodies, though they were held back by tortillas that felt a little generic. The kolaches are quite good, though the bread felt less like the classic Czech recipe and more like a simple American dinner roll. Still solid, if not perfect.

Alexander S.

Yelp
Only two places I've had kolaches. Houston and here. Both are good! I was randomly strolling ubereats and I saw this place. It was worth putting some shorts on and traveling out. Right off the L, pretty convenient. Inside is "quaint" or narrow. It's got nice decors and spots to sit. Outside is easily identifiable. Eye catching colors. I dig it. Also, had a late with oat milk. Wasn't thin and had balanced flavor.
google avatar

Hayward L.

Yelp
Not Texan so I can't speak to the authenticity of these kolaches, but they taste pretty darn good. The buns are hot and fresh, the texture is soft and light, and they have a variety of interesting flavors. I know the sweet fillings are the most traditional but I personally liked the egg and cheddar the most. The jalapeño sausage was also tasty but the filling to bun ratio is not as good.

Yelp
The food is DANK! Every breakfast taco hits with incredible flavor. The nacho cheese and chips are tasty and huge portion. The Kolache's are super tasty, never overly sweet and always flavorful. One of my favorite breakfast spots. I love that you can tip the staff when ordering delivery too!
google avatar

Cathy D.

Yelp
I am a breakfast taco snob and I love these! The bacon, egg and cheese taco is the best! It has refried beans in it which is I think the secret weapon that turns something simple-sounding into something amazing-tasting. The sausage Kolaches are so good. I basically order a bunch of things and just eat them all day. Two tacos for breakfast. Two Kolaches for lunch. Maybe two more tacos for dinner. Mmmm. Love this place. Sundays are my Kings Kolache day. :) I'm from south Texas so I missed these goodies so much and I have to say that Kings Kolache Bakery is the real deal. Can't recommend enough. Coffee is great too.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot is so hip and fun. The owners brought the perfect amount of Texas up to Brooklyn. The kolaches are stunning and delicious. The klobásniks are meaty and yummy. I love the buildout as well. It is homey and comfy. Keep up the amazing job.

Yelp
I'm a Texas native and was super excited to try these. The kolaches were bomb, I tried the jalapeño sausage and the spinach artichoke, both were delicious. Chorizo taco was ok, was hoping for ground chorizo but it was still seasoned well and tasty. The queso was a bit sad- it looks homemade, but lacks enough cream to keep it from hardening instantly, and reheating it didn't help much. It needed more seasoning, too. I will definitely be back for the kolaches (and bring a friend to try them with me)

Yelp
I had never had a kolache before, but after seeing them on my seamless for so long, and with such good reviews, I decided to try Kings Kolache for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I ordered a sampler of items: sweet cheese blueberry, texas sausage and candied jalapeño w/ cheddar, egg and sausage with cheddar & maple syrup, breakfast taco w/ egg, poblano, potato, and cheese, and a cowboy boot dog treat for my pups. Delivery was within 20 minutes, and everything was well packaged. The pastries were delicious! Light, fluffy, and slightly sweet with a good filling to pastry ratio. I loved the sweet cheese and blueberry, but the breakfast ones were also amazing. The breakfast taco was hearty and flavorful too. My dogs enjoyed their treat and it same so nicely decorated, like a bakery cookie, that I understood why the description had to state "not for human consumption." Overall I would definitely recommend and will be a repeat customer!

Daniel M. S.

Yelp
I bought a granger kolache (cream cheese, bacon, Swiss cheese IYKYK ya heard), jalapeño sausage kolache, a breakfast taco, some hot sauce, a latte and some praline treats. These are the best kolaches in New York. It's not a question. And the owners are just the bees knees

C J.

Yelp
Extremely warm and welcoming staff, and the owners are the sweetest. The Kolaches are always baked so perfectly, it's like you got them directly out of the oven. Incredible flavors whether it's the savory kolaches or the sweet ones, every bite is savor-able. The decor and ambiance is perfect, it really makes you feel like you're in Texas. Everyone needs to try!

Allison H.

Yelp
Sooo yummy I LOVE this place. The pimento ham kolache is incredible. I had to go back and order another after finishing the first. The bread is light and fluffy. The owners are also the sweetest!! They're from Tennessee so it was nice to get some southern hospitality in Brooklyn. Will always come back here ate too fast to take a photo haha

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Kings Kolache for a while so biked over today. Got caught in the rain so had to bike back to eat them at home instead of over at the park which is why some of them ended up more smushed than desired -- but on the plus side the humidity had them fluffed up more than usual as per the cashier so I'm sure it mostly balanced out. They have a counter you can order from the outside at to be COVID safe, and there were 5 specials today in addition to their two standard kolaches. I wanted to try a mix of sweet and savory, so got three -- the smoked sausage (imported from Texas according to the sign), cheddar, and candied jalapeño from their standard; the breakfast sausage, egg, and cheese from their specials (comes with maple syrup); and the banana nutella from their specials. I liked the savory more than the sweet, though a lot of my nutella did fall to the wayside. I was expecting it to be a filling instead of a topping like the other two, which would have solved that problem. My favorite was the sausage and candied jalapeño -- I'd been curious about the candying and thought the balance of flavors was perfect. I did enjoy the pop of umami with poured over sweet syrup in the breakfast themed one as well. Overall -- delicious, and worth the round trip bike ride with partial drizzle (a two-word phrase that could describe the nutella as well.)

Yelp
very good! i'm from houston originally and always crave a kolache which is surprisingly hard to find outside of texas. however, i do wish there was more filling and less bread. it's a toss up. some items, like the maple kolache, have a good filling to bread ratio. while the jalepeno kolache seems to lack in filling and is more so bread. alas, this seems to be the only place i can get a kolache at in brooklyn, so i'll take it. just wish there was more meat and less bread sometimes.

Yelp
4 & 1/2 You really gotta feel for a new business that opened literally as the pandemic hit, but this super cool half-Texan couple really seem to have made the best of the extremely challenging circumstances. I've spent enough time in Texas at this point to declare the Kolaches on offer here as deliciously authentic, both the sweet and savory variatals. Ditto the wonderfully trashy and quite likely nostalgia inducing ground beef hardshell tacos. Haven't had a chance to sample the breakfast tacos yet but will surely soon enough as its already crept its way into my regular rotation. Bonus props to these kind folks for dropping free food to the protesters recently.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I ate them all before I decided to leave a review so only pumpkin walnut is pictured, they where still warm when we got them. I recommend

Yelp
The blueberry cream cheese kolache absolutely blew my mind. It was so fresh, warm, and fluffy, and the perfect amount of sweetness so that it wasn't overwhelming. I ordered an extra to bring home for breakfast the next day, and I wish I had bought more! The smoked sausage and cheese kolache was good as well, but the blueberry was just unbeatable. The breakfast taco was also decently sized.

Melissa C.

Yelp
I don't usually write review but between the delicious food and the amazing customer service I had to write one. I placed an early morning order for 2 kolaches for breakfast and a taco for lunch. The Kolaches were both amazing. The blueberry was sweet and delicious and the ham and pimento but 4 hours later when I went to eat my Migas taco I found regretfully it wasn't there. I called the restaurant and expected to be told there was nothing they could do since it was so long after I received my first order. Instead the restaurant was apologetic and delivered a replacement taco with a side of sour cream about 15 minutes later. This is definitely going to be one of my to go places to order from since they have such delicious food and exceptional customer service. I plan on telling my bushridge parents group about this place too. In this economy we can't lose a restaurant this tasty.

Yelp
First time trying the kolache and it's really.. yummy. It's jelly and cream cheese on a hawaiin roll. Perfectly balanced flavors, really good!

Yelp
COVID-19 review: I've been a fan of Brooklyn Kolache Co for a while, so was really excited to see a new place selling kolaches! My friend and I walked over here in the afternoon and ended up getting the blueberry and sweet cheese + the maple sausage/egg/cheese kolache. Both were really good, the sweet cheese wasn't cloyingly sweet and the blueberry jam was warm and slightly tart. The maple sausage one though was basically a McDonald's sausage, egg, and cheese on kolache dough, which I mean in the best way possible. So good. The dough itself was less decadent/maybe a touch dryer than the ones at Brooklyn Kolache, but to be fair we also got there maybe 20 minutes before they closed up shop for the day. Really want to come back and try more flavors, as well as the breakfast tacos!
google avatar

Dana Z.

Yelp
Super excited to see a kolache shop open in my neighborhood! And unlike another nearby place that also sells the Czech-Tex pastries, Kings Kolache also slings breakfast and migas tacos, frito pie, QUESO, and more! Since moving from Austin eight years ago I've been on the hunt for good, Texas-style queso and was always left disappointed by something to thin, too fancy, or just plain bad. No more! I guess it takes someone who grew up on hot cheese dip to replicate it best. I really hope Kings Kolache's brick and mortar is able to stick around - it can't be easy to open up shop in the midst of a pandemic, and the owners are just the sweetest people. When this all passes I look forward to taking a seat inside their place, sipping some Topo Chico, and munching on whatever tasty Texas treat they've whipped up for me. Also, SALT LICK BBQ SAUCE Y'ALL!

Pho K.

Yelp
If you're from Texas, you HAVE to make this place a regular spot. If you're not from Texas, you HAVE to make this place a regular spot! Every detail of the menu and their market items is well considered, hitting a fun balance between quality and authenticity. The frito pie is a prime example of that balance. The kolaches are soft morsels of heaven. The sausage kolache has just the right amount of savory, cheesy heat. The blueberry version is delicious too! The breakfast taco is a legit Texas breakfast taco on a flour tortilla with fluffy eggs. Sarah and Paul are the kindest people, and that warmth shows in their food and service. They're also supportive of their community which is so important! They've donated lots of food to hospitals and protestors!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered delivery and so glad I did!! Best kolaches I've had in a long time (including in Texas)!! Tried the sausage, ham and pimento cheese, blueberries and cheese and huevos rancheros. Fresh and delicious!!

Yelp
Best damn breakfast taco I've ever had. After trying it once I ordered it 3 more times that week lol

Yelp
Ya'llllll! I logged on to Seamless to see who did breakfast delivery and Kings Kolache popped up. I was so stoked to see them label themselves as Czech-Tex. When I realized that they were pretty close and it was a beautiful day, boyfriend and I decided to take a walk. We were so delighted to find a place that makes kolaches! Kolaches are not a New York staple. In fact, if I've ever mentioned them to anyone, people have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm originally from Texas and for whatever reason they are super popular there although they do originate from Czechoslovakia. These guys found the perfect place to set up shop... Right on the edge of Ridgewood/Bushwick on the cutest block. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we got the specials of the day which included a Coconut Cream and another one with mushrooms and some type of cheese. Can't remember but it was my absolute favorite. We also got Sausage & cheese w candied jalapeno. They were all so amazing and full of flavor! I also got a Migas (a popular Tex-Mex breakfast) taco that was quite tasty. They also have serve Mozart's coffee (from Austin) which is so good. I was able to talk to Sarah and Paul who are running the show. They are two Southerners who were so friendly and hospitable. They were able to have a friendly conversation about our Southern roots while still tending to other patrons. I really love that. We took our food to the park and sat and reveled in the marvelousness. We loved the kolaches so much that I ordered some for delivery the next day. And can you believe that when I received my delivery, Sarah and Paul put a handwritten note in my bag?! They had remembered me from the day before! Who does that?! So heartwarming! Go here. Say 'Hi'. Try something new if you've never had a kolache. Support local.

Yelp
If you want to find the world's best street burrito, look no further. Whenever I'm craving a California burrito, I immediately head to this food truck. For $12, they stuff in fries, guacamole, sour cream, and your choice of meat. The employees like to keep the line moving, which is great especially during lunch. There's so many things to try outside of burritos though. Better to place your order ahead of time to skip the line.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
The kolache here is a total delight to the senses! We got the blueberry sweet cheese, huevos rancheros, and coconut cream, all of which were a perfect balance of sweet and flavorful, with a pillowy bread base. Paul and Sarah were so kind and excited to share their passion. Bushwick is lucky to have Kings Kolache at its fingertips! I don't live in Brooklyn, but found this well worth the trek.
google avatar

Rosetta S.

Yelp
Very friendly people working here. I think the breakfast tacos are too small and bland. The savory kolache are better than the sweet. Pretty good for a quick bite if you are craving carbs and fat. I mean, when am I not?

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and order from this place! Their kolaches are AMAZING, but I also love their migas tacos, white queso and veggie chili, just to name a few. Everything I've tried from this place is first rate, and the owners are so nice. On several occasions they've written me little personal notes that they've included in the delivery order just to say thanks for my business -- truly above and beyond the call. I can't say enough good things about this place; it's truly one of my favorite local businesses in all of Brooklyn. I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

Yelp
order at the window and find the first snow covered car hood and enjoy asap. that breakfast taco hit different....not to be fooled with your standard taco bell breakfast item. please start your mornings off with this fine food establishment. i recommend listening to drakeo the ruler while enjoying your purchases! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Io_jQ8uOps - gone in 60 seconds that is exactly what happened to the food.

Yelp
Amazing Kolches!! And the staff is super sweet and helpful, highly recommend this gem of a shop! They also have a cute little outdoor dining setup.

Yelp
Awesome spot. Delicious breakfast and I love how early they are open. The breakfast tacos and kolaches are to die for. Great customer service and they take COVID precautions seriously.

Yelp
(Repeating a review I left on Seamless to boost the signal.) I found Kings Kolache while staying in a hotel provided by the Red Cross after my apartment building caught on fire. And this was the first thing in several days that put a true smile on my face. I am originally from Texas, and this bit of home was such a comfort. Delicious kolaches! Breakfast tacos! Topo Chico and pralines! When I spoke on the phone to the people in the restaurant, they were so kind and friendly, and we had a bit of ex-pat Texan bonding. I adore this place. Even when I'm not in their delivery zone, I will be back! They are delightful, and their food is DELICIOUS!!!
google avatar

Lavant G.

Yelp
I loved the experience at Kings Kolache. The spot is very chic & clean. These guys are most certainly serving yum at his location. The staff was extremely pleasant and service is outstanding. Definitely worth checking out.

Amy B.

Yelp
I love the heck out of this place. I can't think of an occasion it isn't great for. The dough is soft and the fillings are lovely and my partner and I fastidiously watch their Instagram page to see what the daily specials will be. The staff also write the cutest thanks on the delivery receipts. If you don't know kolaches this will be as great an introduction as there is anywhere.

Abigail J.

Yelp
Got this on the way to a tattoo appointment a bit ago and let me just say. it's so good that i came back to leave this review months later. i was hunting this puppy down. seriously. eat here. never had a kolache in my life until this and let me just say .... game changer.

Yelp
I've finally found the local Texas food Ive missed the most. Their kolaches are delicious and their service is great as well. AND they have Whataburger condiments AND queso?! You guys are doing gods work.

Kate S.

Yelp
It's the existence of places like this that keeps me from ever embracing the keto-life... If eating one of these Kolaches is wrong, I don't want be right. Ordered delivery and everything was package perfectly, with care. The moment I opened the box, it I was like being transported back to a place that I was all but sure I'd only imagined after a decade of living in NY. I'm so happy. I hope this place sticks around so I can also show my friends why I've been disappointed with 99% of every breakfast taco and BEC I've tried. FYI, even ordering on Seamless the menu includes a range of Texas items and seasonings beyond the wonderful food. Check em out!

Omar S.

Yelp
I rarely write Yelp reviews but I left Kings Kolache in such a good mood that I felt the need to write one. First, the owners are super kind and friendly, they talked to me as they got their orders through and it was really welcoming and kind. They really love their food and it shows because those kolaches were unbelievably good. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Janella M.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times during the pandemic and it never disappoints. First time ever having a kolache was at this spot and now I'm HOOKED. The breakfast tacos are also to die for. Definitely recommend the migas tacos and the coconut creme kolache.

Sarah S.

Yelp
This is my go-to lunch delivery spot, I love this place. Kolaches, tacos, queso, all amazing. Great prices and delivery is always fast. The people that run it are also the nicest! So happy to have this place in my neighborhood.

David N.

Yelp
Incredible grub! Super friendly staff. Paul and Sarah rock.

Yvonne K.

Yelp
Wow, my prayers have been answered. Coming from CA and my wife from Seattle, we always lament the fact that a certain kind of Mexican American food that we grew up on just doesn't exist in NYC. This cute little place is Tex-mex, which is not the same thing exactly but I'll take it. Sarah and Paul are making delicious kolaches, savory and sweet, AND crunchy freaking tacos. No frills, just delicious seasoned meat (the beef was ground as fine as they are back home), lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and a perfectly crispy taco shell. If you want legit Mexican tacos there are other places, gonfind them. This is a very specific craving that they are fulfilling: if you know, you know. Next time I go I'm getting chips and queso, frito pie, and three tacos. And a blueberry kolache. Don't judge me. Thank you guys for opening up in our neighborhood!

Kennedy C.

Yelp
Being from Texas, this place is my little slice of heaven. The owner is so kind. And the food is as amazing.

Victoria C.

Yelp
5 stars all around! The food, service, and outdoor dining set-up are all excellent. I'd never had a kolache before but they have me addicted now. Don't miss this!

Mikaela D.

Yelp
Kings Kolache really is a gem in NYC! I had a wonderful visit and they are very respectful of social distancing. Being from Texas, I have really missed kolaches and Whataburger ketchup and about cried when I found them online. Definitely head over here SOON! It'll make your day and make your belly happy, and make sure to get the Tex kolaches and some good ol sweet tea (NY makes terrible "sweet tea" so this is def the place for real perfect sweet tea). I'm a little far for delivery, but the pilgrimage from Midtown is forever worth it! Thank you guys for a little slice of home
