"Not to be confused with nearby restaurant The King’s Thai Cuisine, King’s, one of the older Korean restaurants to be found across the Twin Cities, has been serving Korean classics for more than twenty years. Located next to a Korean grocery store in a tidily sized strip mall in Fridley, King’s beige exterior belies a warmly lit, spacious restaurant. Popular orders include the jjajangmyeon, lush with pork, and the dolsot bibimbap, which arrives with a pristine, marigold-yellow egg yolk waiting to be broken with the point of a chopstick." - Julie Zhou

"Find mighty fine Korean food (and a huge selection of sushi) at a strip mall in Fridley. It’s possible to visit this restaurant dozens of times and still not have tired everything on this massive menu. After the meal, wander into the Korean grocery store next door for some take-home kimichi." - Eater Staff

I liked the food but the server was passive aggressive. I came here after recovering from cold, my Korean friend had recommended me to go get some Korean stews that helped with post cold congestion hence why I was in the restaurant. Me and my friend were the only people around 3-4 pm. I asked the server between kimchi jiggae and Galbi tang which one would they recommend. The server said “idk what you’re asking” I further explained saying I have cold congestion and my Korean friend recommended Korean stews and I forgot which exactly she recommended so I wanted his opinion so I can choose between 2 stews. The server said “it’s just soup it’s not medicine” You damn right Sherlock, I know I’m not in a pharmacy. I further explained to him that I was just wanting a recommendation as customers usually do when they go to eat at places. I think the problem why this place is so empty is because they lack proper customer service. I would not come here as the people here do not care about giving customers a positive dining experience. I have utmost respect for people working in customer service as I worked in customer service to pay for my school but never did I ever treat my customers like this. Do better

Google
I have never been much of a Korean Cuisine person because most of all the Korean restaurants I’ve ate at before seems similar to any other asian bbq, and especially the kimchi isn’t all that different from pickled green collard with spices. However!!!! this place will probably be the only place I will eat my Korean cuisine until I find another one to review about!!! If you ever go to this place, and you like pickled spiced veggies or you like kimchi, you have to try their kimchi. They have it on the side and I ended up ordering a whole 16oz to take home. It tastes fresh. I also loved the seaweed salad, so yummy. Try their kimchi miso soup also. It’s better than other places I’ve been to, but it might be an acquired taste. The noodle dish(Kap chae), rice bowls (Dol sot Bibim bap), and Ddukbokki was all good but I didn’t care too much for. Note that the Ddukbokki dish didn’t taste as sour as other places so I did like it better. Last is the best, the Gal-bi ribs. It is delicious 🤤. Pricey though. I would only eat it for those special occasions lol. The highlighted dishes for me are definitely the Gal-bi and Kimchi. A Must try.

I heard that this place was really good n decided to go n try it. Should have gone somewhere else. Service was a disappointment...the only time we got any service was when they came to take our order n delivery our food. Had to find them to tell them that we would like a refill of the sides n than was told that out of the sides, we could only refill 2 of them only. The 2nd refill was not even worth it. Now on to the entree...it's not worth the price they were charging. Small portion. I would not recommend this place. Food was mediocre...I've had better Korean food w/ more portions.

Google
Visited Kings Restaurant multiple times and I'm consistently impressed by the authentic Korean cuisine they serve. The food is delicious, providing a true taste of Korea. The staff, often international Korean students, are friendly and bilingual, adding to the cultural vibe. However, note that if you request extra rice, it might come as a surprise due to cultural expectations on portion sizes, which appear particularly modest by American standards. Their menu has significantly condensed post-COVID, now fitting on a single laminated sheet front and back, but the quality of the offerings remains superb. They previously featured a buffet line for lunch, which hasn't been seen in the last three years. Despite these changes, the dining experience here remains top-notch. Highly recommended for an authentic Korean meal!

Google
Decided to give Kings Restaurant a try and was not impressed with the food. We ordered some typical dishes and it was not flavorable or memorable. Dishes were priced on the higher side as well so plan to spend more than $40 for 2+ dishes. The atmosphere was also kind of depressing as it was kind of dark towards the back of the restaurant where it was empty. Service was great and we were always given more water and side dishes. If you're willing to drive, Sole Cafe in St. Paul is the place for better food and vibes.

Google
What a fun, unique, authentic, and freaking delicious find! We were in the area and I'm glad we were. Very authentic, quick, and great service. You are served traditional dishes to share, which confused us (its not noted anywhere and unless you know... you have no idea). Thanks to Google, we figured it out.. but not what they were haha. Everything was awesome. The Tang-Su-Yuk was fried nice and crispy and the sauce was bright and fresh. The Kan-Pun-Gi was a perfect spice and and flavor. It iis on the pricier side, which im mot a fan of, but 100% recommend stopping here!

Google
My boyfriend and I can here one evening for date night on a whim, and we have been back every date night for the past month since. We try something new every time we are there and love the food. We've had the same server each time and has always been polite and informative. We will continue to come back each date night for the foreseeable future.

Google
My experience here was wonderful. The atmosphere is classy and mellow, and when our server brought our food, it was absolutely mesmerizing. The Bibimbap was sizzling in a beautiful stone bowl and the food presentations were artful and clean. All of the dishes were very flavorful, with fresh vegetables and side dishes and nicely seasoned meats. We opted for the green grape soju, which was smooth and nicely sweet. The servers were so kind and very quick to attend to us. I would highly recommend a visit to this gem if you have not yet had the pleasure.

Beautiful G.

Yelp
I definitely recommend this place. I love their Korean food, especially the pajeon and jajangmyeon and the service is good.

Cyann L.

Yelp
Ordered Spicy Soft Tofu Stew w/ Seafood This dish was disappointing because there's barely any seafood, fish is more of soup of tofu and onions, than seafood and the actual lack of depth in flavor of a regular soft tofu stew. Service was great and quick. Location has lots of parking and looks like a great places for self dining and big parties. Probably not a spot to grab soft tofu stew

Kent K.

Yelp
Now you ask for hot sauce and it costs $1. Besides it tasted more like ketchup. Everything tastes good.

Trina V.

Yelp
Definitely a gem! The seafood pancakes were crispy, which i liked. The bulgogi and haemul soon-dubu were delicious and hit the spot, although there wasn't as much seafood as other spots, I didn't mind. The servers were also super nice! You get two free rounds of bonchon and there's a charge for the third but my husband and I only needed two rounds. We came in at 7 on a Friday and it was quiet originally, but definitely started to get busier later on. It's clean, nicely spaced out and definitely a spot I'd come back to. I wish they still did their ayce!

Linda V.

Yelp
Service was decent esp for a Korean restaurant. First time there, food was tasty. My niece's first Korean food experience. It was enjoyable.

Tracy E.

Yelp
The food was delicious! The service was also very good. The entire restaurant (including the ladies room) was very clean. I will definitely return!

Eddy H.

Yelp
I come to Kings for the beef short ribs, and it sure didnt disappoint yet again. I figured I would try a few other things, Bibimbap in a hot stone bowl didnt really have much flavor and just wasnt worth it but everything else was great. Service was quick and helpful. Restaurant is in a strip mall in fridley so its convenient, and its a simple restaurant with a chill ambiance.

Mahva J.

Yelp
We were in the are after a disappointing visit to Big Lots (separate review). We aren't big on taking chances on ethnic foods, yet we thought that we'd give King's Restaurant a try. My companion got Bibimbap, which was ok, except the egg was overcooked, so there was no yolk to spread over the dish. The flavor was good, despite this. I got a spicy chicken dish with rice. It looked like sweet & sour chicken (I hate this dish) and was quite tasty. The heat was minimal, so I added some of the hot sauce on the table. I wasn't asked a heat level, so I presumed that the somewhat mild heat was typical. This didn't take away from the enjoyment of the dish. I still feel amazed by how Koreans make their chicken so crunchy while not taking away from the flavor of it. Service was nice and quick. Sodas are served in the original cans, rather than glasses. This also wasn't an issue. We'll probably return when we're back in the area.

Yelp
Yesterday I was there for diner with my husband and my 7 years old daughter... My daughter didn't eat cause that not her kind of food. The food was OK to me, the price a bit pricey... but I didn't complain about the price... BUT they were automatic charged 20% Tip for the bill , which was $23 for $113 bill... To me I think the restaurant should suggest the tip like 15%; 18%;20% if the food and the service good enough, we can tip more than that... But when you automaticly impose 20% for tip ... Never come back again

Nikki L.

Yelp
They force a 15% tip on my party of 4, even after I told them I was not happy with their service. The server, who is the young man of the owner, TRI, is supposedly his name, kept arguing with me over and over after we told them that the service was bad. Then they perceed to auto charge my bill, which was over $100. With a 15% tip. When they didn't deserve a tip at all. So, I called them out, and they lie to my face, saying that they updated their policy last month. They knownly try to steal from me. I do not recommend this place at all, horrible service, small portion, and overpriced. I return for a picture of the menu, which states that if there was a party with more than 4, they would force the 15%. In my case, we have 4.

Cale S.

Yelp
Probably one of the best japchaes in the state and yes,,they took out the onions. Sometimes the onions overbare the taste of everything else. Tip: see above. Dislike: Not gonna lie, I actually love ice water. They don't give you ice here anymore. Taste: 5/5

Maia J.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Korean food King's is the place to be. They're located in a strip mall and have plenty of parking. Which is super convenient! We were greeted promptly and provided a few minutes to order our food. The staff are always so lovely and wonderful. I've never had a bad experience there. We ordered a full on feast which included pork and beef bulgogi, short ribs, fried dumplings and each entree is served with traditional Korean sides. Plain white rice is also provided with your meal and you are given 1 refill of rice for no charge. The meal was superb! And we had tons of leftovers to take home as well. We have also ordered their fried rice in the past which was very good too! There is indoor seating only but they have tables for group/family style meals and booths for seating. The decor is slightly outdated but honestly, that sometimes means you've stumbled across a gem! Hands down one of the best places I've had for Korean food in Minnesota. Give them a whirl!

Lindsay F.

Yelp
GARRRG! I do not know what to say. I came here post-COVID-19 (kinda) with my father for a dinner on a weekend. He is a newb to Korean food. It was memorable. The servers are great. They are knowledgeable and helpful. We got the appetizers "8," Goonmandu and two miso soups. My dad, who is the complete Kraft Mac n Cheese, frozen hotdog and hamburger helper meal, was pouring the miso soup onto his spoon, and scraping the last drops to savor. And the goonmandu, was delicious. Fried, and not AT ALL GREASY, airy fluffy crust, with a plentiful filling of carrots, bean sprouts, meat, sesame oil, and other Korean spices that I am too ignorant to name. Now the entrees...I had ordered Jaepjae and bulgolgi, knowing that it would come with rice for both and a series of banchan. The bonchan (banchan?) consisted of kimchi, sesame marinated beansprouts, spicy fish cakes, broccoli and kimchi beansprouts, as well as rice for both. For the bbq, bonchan and stir fries (I have yet to try the sundubu or other stews...) this is a staple for me to get quality Korean food.

Yelp
The first time I went to Kings, I was not impressed. I had the buffet, and felt it was a fairly average buffet, which is really something that I'm generally not into. Fast forward a few years and may more trips later. Kings is now my go to place in MN for Korean food. The food itself is solid, and they make many Korean dishes well. This place doesn't stack up with the best places around the country or in Korea, but for MN, you'll be hard pressed to find more consistently well done Korean options. Why 5 stars? Great variety of Korean dishes on the menu, solid execution, great service, nice when you're not in the mood for counter serve, and they serve Terra (the best Korean beer, and I once saw Spotted Cow there too :0). Never tried the sushi except for that fateful first visit but would probably go elsewhere for that. My honest assessment would be 4.5 stars but that's just not an option.

Katherine C.

Yelp
I've been recommending this restaurant to anyone who will listen. This is the best Korean food in the Twin Cities - every dish is so delicious and flavorful and well made. My favorite entrees are the fried chicken, galbi, and the beef and octopus soups. If you dine in the multi-person soups are served on a portable burner so you can have piping hot soup. The price may look steep but there is enough soup for 3-4 people comfortably. So delicious and addicting. The seafood pancake and kimbap here are also absolutely delectable. Plus they come with a generous helping and selection of side dishes. Kind of out of the way of the cities but 100% worth the drive. It's kind of part of a strip mall area with a parking lot in front of it. Since I've found out about it I've gone multiple times and spend maybe a concerning amount of time thinking about the food. Definitely my current go-to place for Korean food

YiQing G.

Yelp
Very authentic Korean spot. We haven't ordered their sushi before but tried them when they still offer buffet. We mainly visit here for their Korean dishes and they are so yummy. The staffs are friendly and they will explain us the preparation of the menu when we have questions. I do hope they bring back their weekend buffet tho.

Joel L.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Out of town a little ways but it's the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Fair price and diverse menu. Give yourselves a treat

Jessica G.

Yelp
This is a nice, local, family restaurant. We ordered the mandu and japchae. The mandu was good, but the japchae was very greasy.

Ge N.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went to get some kimchi from Seoul Foods and saw that King Restaurant, a Korean cuisine restaurant, was next to it and decided to stop in to have lunch. The place was clean, nice and the waitresses were very nice. The service was good but the only reason for the 3 star was because of the food. My girlfriend decided one of the stew and I got the Bibim-bap. The stew was nicely flavored but as for the bib bib bibim-bap, it was underwhelming. For a $17 dish, there wasn't a lot of beef in it. Maybe two good bite size beef then the rest were smaller cuts, most of it even too small for you to even pick up with chop sticks. The rest of the dish was pretty much eating rice with the veggies. I've had bibim-bap at different korean restaurants before and was never disappointed, but I have to say that today I was.

Molly M.

Yelp
How could I have neglected giving a Yelp shout out to King's? We have been coming here since my kid was small! They have changed up the restaurant in the past few years: offering a AYCE lunch, sushi, and a different flooring plan. No problem-the food is still the best! My go-to here is the Dol-sot Bibimbap with the incredible crispy rice at the bottom of the stone bowl! You gotta try it-if you're not sure how to eat it, ask one of the really nice staff and they will show you how to mix your food up and add the bibimbap sauce to make it even better!

Pheng Y.

Yelp
Food was great and service was good. Definitely a place to try if you love Korean food.

Holly T.

Yelp
Service was great as I remembered years ago. Food was delish, we had the army stew soup, galbi, tofu soup. Everything was good, everything was hot, eat with caution.

Kim H.

Yelp
the worst service!!!!The male waiter was so rude. we never come back again. It was our first time but also the last, It was not the only Korean restaurant in town!!!so so so disappointing!!

Mai Nhia T.

Yelp
Delicious food. Good service. Kinda pricy $$$. We also ordered shrimp Shu Mai and it feels like they just microwave it. I was hoping they had their own restaurant shu mai recipe. I could be wrong but it was not worth the price for 6 pieces.

Lorraine J.

Yelp
This was the second time that I have eaten at King's, and it did not disappoint us. Our group had Pork Bulgogi, Beef Bulgogi, soup and I had the Deep-fried Chicken with spicy garlic sweet sauce. My granddaughter loves the fish cakes. It is not real fancy inside and the prices are not cheap but well worth it. The service was excellent.

Julia E.

Yelp
Absolute best fine Korean cuisine in the cities hands down! It's is the best seafood soup I've had in my life! The staff was very kind and sweet. We will be returning customers, highly recommend King's Resturant!

Felicia S.

Yelp
I've been here twice and my second time was a better experience than the first. I think it was because of my food choice the second time that made it better. The first time (2019), I got the bibim naengmyeon, I think cause it was my first time trying it wasn't suited for my tastes. I also got the tteokbokki wasn't expecting it to be sweet so that was surprising. The second time (2022), I got the jjamppong and the kimchi pancake. I think these were more suited to my tastebuds.

Ben H.

Yelp
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in the twin cities. It's always very delicious, sanitary, welcoming, and excellent service. You will not find a better Korean restaurant in the twin cities. This is my 3rd or 4th time coming here and I swear it's impossibly better every time. So much so that I asked for a manager to let them know how much I love this restaurant. 10 out of 10 would eat again.

Tom C.

Yelp
Good food as usual. Service has gone downhill at least for us. Three of us were served only 3 side dishes of kimchi etc. when they always used to serve 5. To make things worse, they take next to us was one person eating skiing and he had 5 dishes. What's up with the preferential treatment? After making it unhappiness known, we were bright a 4th dish but then they had to make a big show of going out of their way to appease us. Been there many times in the past, but this left a sour taste in our mouths, so to speak. Will have to think twice before going back again.

Barbara V.

Yelp
Buffet isn't available. However the food is always fresh and delicious. They offer a variety of banchan/side dishes with the meals.

Amber O.

Yelp
I have been going to Kings Korean for years. Consistently delicious food, friendly and caring service from each of the people who work there, and always a family vibe. I still cannot believe this place is such a hidden gem but I take everyone I know here to try it and all have loved it. I'm sad they took the GimBap off the menu (I think?) but definitely recommend the Pork Bulgogi or the BibimBap!

Deantha M.

Yelp
We loved this place pre-pandemic and drove a long way to eat at Kings at least monthly back then. Since the pandemic they have really tanked in value. Their prices are horrid and seem to surpass gouging in my opinion. It is sad. We've lost a favorite restaurant to its own greed.

Cecilia H.

Yelp
Rolled up here for lunch with Mom and ordered a huge lunch for her birthday. I've eaten here before for lunch buffet and dinner I can tell you the service is great and food is always good. Not familiar with Korean foods? Then do the buffet! (Lunch only) I didn't care for the seafood soup but you always have to order galbi it's so damn good! The meat is juicy and steaming hot and the flavors is perfect. You will know what I mean when You order it! Sushi isn't served for lunch (buffet only) Seafood pancake was ok - not crispy enough for my liking but every bite with the squid made up for it. Banchan side dishes were good and don't be scared to ask for more!

Maxx M.

Yelp
Wow, we had a super disappointing lunch with a skimpy buffet and sketchy service! After lunch my friend actually apologized for inviting me to Kings! That pretty much sums up everything. Before we went in, he told me that Kings is "really good" Korean. But he ended up apologizing and said they've "gone downhill" and that "I heard the dinner is better". I have to add, my friend has some neighborhood cred: He's a foodie that lives about 6 blocks away and he grew up close by. So...it looked good but everything went downhill quickly. 1) The service sucked. Everything about the service was slow and ultra casual, verging on rude. The server (an older, senior woman) seemed completely bored, inattentive to customers, and only interested in talking to employees. 2) The buffet was lame with a limited selection, small quantities, and questionable quality. Like...do I really want deep fried green beans? 3) I was looking forward to getting some sushi (see outside sign). But the selection of fake seafood rolls on the buffet line was totally unappetizing. 4) I told our server (I had to get up and stop her from pacing & blabbing with staff) that I was a little disappointed with the buffet and that I'd also like to order some fresh sushi from the menu. She gave me a menu but the head dude (owner or manager) told me they don't serve sushi until dinner. Really?! At this point I went from disappointed to straight out angry. The only reason I'm not giving them 1 star is because I really think the dinner experience is probably much better. But the buffet sucks. The food is pretty cheap if you just want to fill up on some beef & chicken & kimchi. They also have a bar. I MIGHT try them again for dinner if I see a different person in the front as a server and if someone else treats. I wish it was better - bummer! We should have just gone to Teppanyaki Grill, Hibachi Grill, or Dong Yang in Columbia Heights. -Daddy Maxx Retro

Yelp
This place is probably one of the better Korean restaurants we've had in the area. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because they've seemingly taken a lot of items off their menus but haven't updated much (like sushi and gimbap). They also take a REALLY LONG TIME to bring out your food. Among the 3-4 times we went already, we would order and food would probably take about 25-30 minutes to be served. That's not an exaggeration, we checked our clocks. It's really slow, so be patient and bring appetizer snacks for little ones if you come with kiddos. Or order Togo and take your time doing pick up. Additionally, this doesn't bother me at all when it comes to Asian restaurants, but don't expect service to be 5 stars or anything. They'll come by, take your order, bring out your food, and then disappear for quite a while. All in all, a great spot and I'll keep coming back. One of our favs so far is the black bean noodles (jjajjang-myung), but we try something new every time we visit. The soft tofu soup (soondoobu) was a little bland though.

Mason Y.

Yelp
Amazing kimbap, we would always order to-go during covid 19. Very tasty, with perfect combination of sesame oil in the rice plus an ingredient that gave it a small "kick"

Michele B.

Yelp
Just met a group of Yelpers for the weekday lunch buffet. At $12 it's a pretty good deal! The service here was really wonderful! All of the ladies that helped us we quick and efficient, plus super sweet and helpful! The weekday buffet is definitely the best deal! On this particular Friday it started with steamed or fried rice. Gyozas, chicken wings, a beef short rib, spicy pork, and breaded chicken bites in sauce. China was covered deliciously! Next was some tempura veggies, various sushi rolls, and some watermelon. Japan was done right. Pretty good for a buffet selection. Finally the Korean section that I'm not as familiar with. But kimchi, tofu, seaweed salad, rice noodles with onions and peppers. Everything I tasted was flavorful and fresh. Well, I of course filled up before I even noticed the soup station where you choose a broth, noodles, veggies, egg, and seasonings. I'll need a return trip to try that.

Denise L.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised with their lunch buffet. Only con, I wish they told you pop wasn't included as it was an extra $2 and flat. Sushi rolls were decently good, fried chicken and string beans were perfectly fried, same with the fried gyoza. The galbi was a bit tough to chew, and liked how they had warm soup with sides of noodles. Overall, great way to feed the tummy on a low budget with plenty of food. Service was also really friendly too.

Alysha W.

Yelp
I went here today for a yelp event with a group of people, to have the lunch buffet. I am struggling giving this 3/5 starts instead of 4/5 stars, but there were two big things that really bugged me about this restaurant. The first was that nothing named on the buffet, so for someone like me who has a hypersensitivity to shellfish I had to either go by what I know or ask, also some of the dishes it just would have been nice to know what they were. The second big reason is again because of my hypersensitivity to shellfish. To get the sushi (which I love) the tongs were placed in a water bin and so of course they were contaminated (I guess I could have asked for others or figured something out not to use those, however there was a whole line behind me). Overall, I thought that the food was really good but the two things above changed my rating quite a bit. They had plenty of vegetarian options if you are vegetarian. They also had a build your own soup with fixings up by the buffet. Would I choose to drive the 20 minutes to come here from my house, probably not because I did have some reactions today and I like to enjoy my food, but for someone who likes asian food and doesn't have allergies or need to worry about what is in dishes I think this is a great place to go for the buffet.

Dianna N.

Yelp
I come here for their food not the service. Honestly, when it comes to great Korean food I expect mediocre service. Haha They always have the perfect spice level and flavor. The hardest part is not ordering everything. Solution now is having 3 people to order more to split.

Fiona H.

Yelp
That was amazing! Pretty good! I think this is the best Korean restaurant in the Minnesota. I have been there more than ten times.

Payeng L.

Yelp
This restaurant is in a strip mall but don't let that fool you! They have fresh sushi & excellent Korean Food! I love the Banchan that came with my pork bulgogi. We had a dinner party for 16 so I was fortunate enough to get to try a lot of the other food on the menu. Everything we ate were delicious, I will definitely be coming back!

Rafael F.

Yelp
The service was nice and the food was pretty good It was clean and quiet overall a nice experience my girlfriend definitely loved it.

Xia Y.

Yelp
Great place if you're craving authentic Korean food. The food was delicious and the service was fast.

Tammy X.

Yelp
Great food and flavor! My favorite was the King City Roll! Would come back to just eat this!

Kong L.

Yelp
I walked in 30-minutes before closing time on a Saturday night and was denied service so I don't know how the food taste. Unfortunately, I did not get to eat here which was sad. There was no sign that indicating last call. Please respect the hours posted online and the door of your restaurant. Overall, I did not have a good experience here. It's sad, I don't even know how the water tasted like.

Sandy P.

Yelp
Service was friendly but poor. Service was very slow. Seems like they had their whole team taking a break and eating in dining area. I understand that employee need to eat but they should have closed door instead of letting customers wait. Or maybe take turns eating instead of everyone eating. We really wanted to get sushi but unfortunately it wasn't available today. Not even any kimbap. We ordered galbi short ribs, sweet and sour pork, pan fried dumpling and bokembap (fried sweet). The galbi short rib was good ($24) but unfortunately everything else was not. The sweet and sour was the worst. See photo. For three adult and two kids we spent $84 total for lunch. A little more that what I expected for flavor and price.

Yelp
My favorite Korean restaurant! Everything I've had is delicious! I get chicken bulgogi but spicy and it's perfect! I also love when they add kimchi to the gimbap. The bonchon is excellent. The staff is very kind! Expensive but worth it!!

Yelp
Summary: Best value in the Twin Cities in terms of high quality food and price. Growing up in an Asian household, I've had my fair share of experiences with various Chinese buffets all of which had made me want to lie in a fetal position after eating. Due to the general lack of quality/freshness of the food served at many buffets, I have long ago stopped frequenting them. King's is different. The lunch buffet is a MUST only has one line and a very limited amount of dishes compared to the overwhelming selections at most buffets. For $12, you are able to feast on high quality, authentic Korean food that includes sushi! I do not recommend going to the restaurant for dinner where there is not a buffet and your wallet will feel a considerably bigger dent. Each day of the week offers different buffet selections, and FRIDAYs are the best days where the buffet includes Korean Spare Ribs and exemplary sushi. Nothing beats the value and price of this restaurant which also has a comfortable environment and homely service. TIP: Go on FRIDAYS!!

Yelp
I came here last week with my girlfriend cause I've yet to find a good Korean spot in the Twin Cities..This place is no different than any of the other places I've tried. The food was meh and menu was way overpriced..I wanted to try their galbi or bulgogi..but it was WAY too expensive after looking at how little they give you. It was like $20+ for galbi and bulgogi for a small sizzling platter... Now onto the review.. My girlfriend wanted Sundubu (soft tofu soup)..but after all the experiences of sundubu in Minnesota.. I was terrified. Let's just say this place didn't change my view of it. We ordered the mushroom sundubu and it was quite disappointing. The tofu was all grounded up so it's hard to even tell it's tofu. There was barely any soup..as you can tell from my pictures. I found it interesting they also add jalapenos in their tofu soup....that's a first.. It did not match with the soup at all. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the tofu soup, especially if you've had good tofu soup in California or New York. It was definitely the worst tofu soup I've had in my life. I ordered the Jjamppong, which is a Korean seafood noodle soup dish. This was disappointing as well. The soup was very bland and lacking flavor.. The ingredients they used were cheap as well. They put in a lot of shrimp, but it was the tiny cheap and frozen type.. The mussels, squid and octopus were okay though. One good thing is they give plenty of noodles, so you'll get full for sure. It may not be good..but you'll get full. Lastly, we shared the japchae noodles. This was probably the only decent thing we ordered. It was strong tasting and had lots of good meats and vegetables. The noodles were good as well. Banchan (Side dishes) - It was decent.. came with the usual: Fish cake, potatoes, broccoli, kimchi, and some other stuff. You also get free refills on them. I'll give other Korean spots in the Twin Cities chances, but the options are dwindling!
