Yelp
I'm the kind of person who scopes out the area for good restaurants/bars around a hotel where she's staying. Kings Row Gastropub looked like an easy walk from my hotel, and I was impressed by the overall reviews. I took a chance on the place and loved everything about it.
Kings Row Gastropub was tucked in a little alley way between a Taiwanese drink spot and gelateria. I almost missed it, but I saw a chalk board at the end of the corridor that caught my attention peripherally.
I went on a Tuesday night at 9pm, which was expectedly low key. There was still a good amount of people at the pub though. The place was cute and quaint. High table tops and a decent sized bar. Big TVs around with hockey playoffs and NBA finals.
I asked for the menu, and one of the bartenders pointed over to the giant chalkboard menu on the sidewall. I was pretty hungry and wanted something satisfying yet not overbearing, so I inquired about their tacos. Straight up, I asked another bartender how the tacos were. He said they were amazing, and I kind of didn't trust him at first - not going to lie. How good could the tacos be at a gastropub? I mean, let's be real. Hats off to them though. The tacos were legit AF. I got a fried fish taco and cauliflower taco, and I would go as far as say that these could be from an upscale Mexican restaurant,
The fried fish taco was massive. I ordered one, and it came with two fried pieces. I couldn't close the taco as much as I tried to. I had to take one piece out and have it standalone. The fish was so fresh out of the frier that I damn nearly burned the whole roof of the inside of my mouth trying to eat the thing. All good, I still enjoyed the taco. The fish was extra crispy on the outside but moist and flaky inside. I liked the side of salsa that added more flavor.
Do yourself a favor and try the cauliflower taco. I'm serious - do not sleep on it. I found this to be better than the fish taco. The taco shell was crispy, cauliflower was flavorful and seasoned well, and the dish was loaded with the freshest, crispest chopped lettuce.
Lastly, loved the nitro horchata cream ale I tried. It was so light and smooth, and I got the subtlest taste of horchata on the backend of the sip. Great beer!
