Kingston Delight - Review - North Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Kingston Delight is a quick, casual Jamaican restaurant in North Miami. The food here is served cafeteria-style, so your jerk chicken won’t be made to order, but it’ll still be tasty. And it’s going to get even tastier if you add some sides like festivals (a slightly sweet fried dough), plantains, and rice and beans. The jerk chicken meal, about $8 with two sides and a salad, is also a hard deal to beat." - Ryan Pfeffer

Kingston Delight has been a go-to Jamaican food stop in North Miami Beach for over 25 years, and it continues to serve the community with its consistent, flavorful menu and buffet-style daily offerings. As someone who’s frequented this spot for years, I can honestly say it holds a special place in the heart of the city’s Caribbean food scene. The restaurant is known for its authentic Jamaican dishes—from oxtail and curry goat to fried dumplings and callaloo. The buffet setup makes it easy to pop in and grab a hearty meal without the wait, perfect for lunch breaks or quick dinner pick-ups. On my most recent visit, I tried the curry chicken, and while it was a bit saltier than usual, the portion was generous, and the flavor was still on point. One thing I’ve always appreciated is that even when one dish misses slightly, the overall quality and soul in the food brings me back. Whether you’re a longtime local or just visiting, Kingston Delight remains a North Miami Beach classic for anyone craving authentic Jamaican comfort food.

Google
I ordered through online delivery , I usually take that drive to Miami Gardens ,but didn’t feel like it . Anywho , upon ordering I had high hopes for this place . Once my food was delivered the hopes went down the drain . $20 + for salty curry goat BONES .i was thinking maybe I got the bottom of the pot ,but my husband also complained about his jerk chicken not having meat .The Portion size of everything else was good. Surprise it doesn’t come sweet plantain for the price . Or at least mines didn’t . Overall 6/10

I stopped by Kingston delight restaurant for lunch and had such a great experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt very welcomed. I ordered the jerk chicken lunch special, and it did not disappoint! The portion was perfect for me—not too much, but still filling. It came with a whole leg and thigh, plus two dumplings, and I was full and happy. The flavor of the jerk chicken was amazing—just the right amount of spice and seasoning. On top of that, the price was incredibly affordable—only $6.00 plus tax. I left completely satisfied and will definitely be back!

Google
The food was so doggone AMAZING!!! My love and I had the Jerk Chicken Plate and Curry Chicken Plate. We both had rice and peas, cabbage and plantains! We had a side of callaloo and salt fish too. Oh my gosh! Every single bit of everything was so good. If I lived there, I would be a regular. Melissa was really nice and her accent was beautiful! When in Miami, run to this place. You will not regret it!

Google
My oxtails were out of site!! Some of the best I ever tasted! I really enjoyed it. But she messed it up and gave me a beef patty from the day before and it was all hard and dried up in side. That's wrong. So make sure you check before you leave to see if it's fresh or not.

Google
I can’t believe I just ordered a CHICKEN soup online and was given SHRIMP soup . I’m allergic , why wouldn’t they update their website? I called and her response was “ sometimes we make Shrimp soup on Monday and Tuesday” . I loved their chicken soup when I had it back in January. This is crazy to me! Never again!

Google
The food was ok. They have nice fish! The man in charge of the tank ( chef AC)was so friendly. He told all about the fish and the history of the tank. The jamaican patty doesnt have real meat and there was no coconut bread to go with it. I rather the restaurant in Atlanta, Ga though. The lady who served is seemed really sad and wasnt welcoming.

Yelp
Extremely horrible experience with the mean ugly lady at the front. Food is just average Wouldn't recommend with so many other Great Jamaican restaurants! The owner doesn't pay his bills either! Good luck

Yelp

Yelp
The food is overly spicy and no real flavor ..as I kept eating there was not much meat. It was mostly jerk seasoning and bones. For me at least the spice level was too much because there was a ton of seasoning and mostly bones

Yelp
Saw Lisa Petrillo's segment on this Jamaican restaurant and wanted to try since I was in the neighborhood. If Lisa tried it, it must be good. I don't understand the negative reviews on Yelp. Kingston is small with about 3 tables for dine in. Ordered 3 large dinner portions of Jerk chicken, curry chicken and oxtail with white rice, rice and peas, plantains for takeout. Healthy portions, enough for 2 nights. Unfortunately they were out of jerk pork, bummer, lol. Owner was preparing the orders. Everything was delicious, very filling. My new go to when I'm in North Miami Beach.

Yelp
I texted and called the manager, not only did he not return my call to justify the situation but he also left me on READ via text, But that's ok. I keep my handy dandy receipts#don't eat here! The food is gross and so is their customer service

Yelp
Large oxtail was all bones with no meat, food was cold with no flavor but the red pea soup was good

Yelp
I was expecting so much coming from NYC. You can do better. The food varied for bland to overly spicy, within the same meal, and the rice tasted like it came put of a box, not homemade.

Barakat K.

Yelp
Waste of money... oxtails was mainly bones. NOOO real flavor at all. Was very disappointed. I should have read the reviews before I ordered. Smh.

Yelp
Kingston Delight specializes in Authentic Jamaican staples like Curry & jerk chicken . The Jerk Chicken with festival seems very popular. Very good flavor ! Nuff love to this place :)

Yelp
Had the jerk chicken with rice and peas for lunch. Hearty portions and everything is delicious, exactly what you expect from a place like this. I'm ordering again today, this time ox tail for dinner.

Yelp
Where should I start........So I placed an order via Uber eats to this restaurant. I ordered two Jerk Pork, which took about 45 mins to be prepared and delivered. Once the meal arrive, it was only one of the two meal that I ordered. Open the meal, while calling the restaurant to enquire about the next meal, only to be super surprised that what I ordered, wasn't included either. They prepared Jerk Ribs (never heard of it ). I ask the rep in the restaurant, what's is this-it's not the correct ordered. I was told they only had Jerk ribs as the pork finished. I was in shock at the entire ordeal. They informed me that the Uber driver must have eaten the other food "as this was something they usually do" I was furious and hungry-tasted the Jerk Ribs and immediately ran to the bathroom to vomit . I hang up the phone and search the internet for a number to contact Uber eats-because the app is useless. I had to argue with the rep to get a refund. A very awful experience for a so called Jamaican restaurant. I would suggest to try another Jamaican restaurant

Yelp
Looking for breakfast and found this spot across from 163rd st Mall. I got Salt fish (cabbage&peppers) and fried dumplings; sooo good. A bit pricy but worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Kingston is an authentic Jamaican restaurant no BS. From the food to the people. I ordered the jerk chicken lunch portion. I don't even want to imagine how the dinner portion was because I ate the lunch in 2 sittings. The restaurant is centrally located on 163rd st neighboring multiple other businesses.

Yelp
There is a lot of Carribean Restaurants around but this one has the best curry chicken I have tasted and they don't over-charge like most of them do.. I crave the curry chicken so I have to have at least once a week

Yelp
We drove 30 minutes past a multitude of restaurants to come here. Why? Yelp reviews. We pulled up on a Sunday afternoon to a sleepy strip mall where other ethnic restaurants served their wares. We stepped inside the yellow, green, and black clad walls and perused the menu on TV's. We promptly ordered the oxtail and curry goat- a large each, enough to share both meals with 4 people. We dug in. The oxtail was tender and meaty. Generous portions covered our rice and beans. My wife loved the sauce and she found ways to get the juice out of the to-go container. My daughters shared the goat but I secured a taste. It was tender and succulent with a slightly spicy curry sauce. Accompanying both dishes were sautéed cabbage and carrots. They were lightly seasoned and paired well with each Caribbean dish. Again, we shared these two meals with four people. Satisfying and well prepared.

Yelp
I wasn't feeling well one Saturday a few weeks ago and my stomach was sick. I wanted chicken soup but of course on a Saturday they only had red peas and my cousin said it was good so I decided to try it. I was instantly healed w the first sip. It was delicious and spicy and I'll definitely be getting it again when I'm in the area! Thank you!!

Yelp
I ordered oxtail today and it was disgusting. I had to throw it away. I'm pissed that 14$ was thrown down the drain.

Yelp
Kingston Delight is tucked away in a strip mall of little shops. When you walk in it has a very Island Shop vibe. In fact, they sell some goods--by the look of the items, however, not many people buy the items. Now the food! So the food is behind glass buffet style like many other Caribbean restaurants. Everything looked fresh and clean. I ordered an oxtail dinner with rice and peas which comes with steamed vegetables. The oxtail was subpar, very few (literally 2) butter beans in the entire plate and not much seasoning overall. The rice was also lacking in regard to flavor. Overall I wanted to like this food so I could have a close Jamaican restaurant by my house, unfortunately, Kingston Delight fell short. Due to the lackluster flavors and the overall blah vibe I had to give them 3 stars. The fact that I have the AUDACITY to say a chain like G*lden Cr*st is better than family owned in S. Florida should get me put out...so excuse me while I fearfully look over my shoulder as I say it! The chain beat Kingston Delight!

Yelp
"On The Beach"? Really? Because I thought Kingston Delight was on 163rd Street! LOL I've been to KD when I really had no other choice like when it was too late on a Sunday to get somewhere else. It's decent for semi-satisfying a craving for Jamaican food. But everytime I've eaten from KD, it ultimately just makes me crave my favorite Jamaican restaurants even more. As another reviewer mentioned, the oxtails can be tough. Oxtail is an easy but at the same time difficult meat - if u cook it the right way, it can be melt-in-your-mouthy. If not, it can be tough and chewy. The few times I've eaten KD's oxtails, they've never been perfectly tender. A little more cook time and maybe this can be remedied. The rice & peas are standard as are the steamed vegetables. I wish the sauces on their meats were more savory. The brown-stew chicken is decent enough, I really enjoy its texture, not too tender (heh). Service is usually succint, not overly friendly. Don't come too late in the evening or half the menu will be unavailable.

Yelp
Have Ordered here in the past and as always great food. Oxtail is always soft and full of flavor the rice and peas is always a welcome comfort food. All I would add to it is a bit more hotsauce to spice it up a bit.

Yelp
It was pricey & the food was just average. The lady rang up the price wrong we had pay cash for the difference. We were just visiting from SoCal! Thanks

Yelp
Superb flavor, true Jamaican authentic cuisine, go for the food, never mind the decor or parking hassle. Best Goat in the area and reasonably priced.

Yelp
The food was GREAT. (Ordered through UberEats, so I did not see the restaurant. I had the jerk and curry chicken, and both were NICE with no complaints.

Eduardo T.

Yelp
Yah Mon ! Kingston as that fiya Jamaican food. I had the Jerk Chicken, patties and other meals. The chicken is well seasoned and grilled to perfection. The plates are generous, they pack those lunch plates well. I also tried the Brown Stew chicken from here... yummy.

Remma B.

Yelp
Purchased the curry goat which was loaded with bones wasted my money called to complain they put the phone down no apology
google avatar

Yelp

Yelp
Great food. I've always ordered out for lunch because it's by my place of work. I've never actually been to the restaurant. I usually order the Brown Stew Chicken with peas and rice plus cabbage, and I've always gotten a great portion for about five bucks. My co-workers usually order the Curry Chicken which also looks delicious. We all order it at least one a week or at least once every other week and none of us are Jamaican.

Camar S.

Yelp
They sell delicious food but the service is terrible. The lady in the front is rude. It's funny because they say Jamaican restaurants are known for rude servers and she let me know it's true. The curry goat is good though. Just know what u want before u go talk to her in one word or less and you will be fine.

Jill L.

Yelp
Tried the ox tail and jerk chicken, both very flavorful. The rice and bean is delicious, go so well with the ox tail and it's gravy. I will go back again!

Yelp
This place in a diamond in the ruff of North Miami. They have great curry goat and the jerk chicken is good and spicy. They also have oxtail and good soup. Cola Champagne and Cream Soda wash down everything nicely.

Matt M.

Yelp
Good take out spot, reasonable prices, and large portions. The jerk chicken over cabbage was great. Check it out.

Yelp
Went there for oxtails tonite. I was excited it looked real authentic inside. The lady was nice so I got a large oxtail with rice and peas. I got home and it was a nice portion. The gravy tasted strange almost sweet that wasn't the worst part. The oxtails were so tough I tried to feed them to my cat and she couldn't even chew them. This place failed big time

Michael F.

Yelp
They sell authentic Jamaican cuisine!!!Before when it was Tropical Oasis they didn't have stew peas and stew pork, soup etc.......I enjoy going to eat there!!!They have a glass with food display so you can see what you're ordering!!!And you can order drinks from the fridge!!!Tropical Oasis didn't have that!!!

Samantha R.

Yelp
I love their breakfast menu, its like having a true Jamaican breakfast. The only thing I'm not a fan of from here is their rice, and when it gets towards the evening they start running out of alot of things. Their lunch specials are usually good too!
