Kinneuchar Inn

"The maxim ‘less is more’ is rarely so well applied as it is here. East Neuk’s bounteous local larder is showcased on a menu that changes up to twice a day; fresh fish is a highlight, and the specials are just that. This charming 17C village pub has a modish feel – sit in the cosy bar or vaulted dining room." - Michelin Inspector

We loved our first visit to the restaurant here a few months back so returned for the truly delicious Kinneuchar Fried Chicken Bun Monday. I got the sense that everyone - the staff, the clientele, & even the friendly dogs - enjoy the special days they do the chicken. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and the actual Chicken Buns themselves were an absolute refined comfort food joy.

Kinneuchar Inn is an absolute gem! The food and service are truly fantastic. I started with the fish cake, and it was hands down the tastiest I’ve ever had. For my main, I opted for the duck, which was cooked to perfection, while my partner had the pie – it was fabulous, so much so that I’ll definitely be placing an order for one myself next time. The gentleman behind the bar crafts some incredible cocktails, adding to the overall experience. We also visited on New Year’s Day to try their famous chicken bun, and wow – it lived up to the hype and more! It was so good I’d honestly wait for hours in the cold just to have another. It’s worth every minute of the wait, and I couldn’t help but feel sorry for those who gave up on the queue. If you’re dining with a party of six or more, you can book a table – a great tip we’ll be taking advantage of for the next bank holiday. We’re already planning a family visit, and they can’t wait to experience it too. kinneuchar Inn is a must-visit – you won’t be disappointed!

Best restaurant in Fife. A small, but very diverse menu with locally sourced produce. This time around absolutely obsessed with the vegan fava bean flatbreads starter. On request a vegan menu is supplied. Most of our party got fish, perfectly balanced flavours and extremely fresh.

The best place I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Amazing food that changes regularly, all the dishes are well thought out and prepared with care, the service staff are delightful and the atmosphere is lovely. I would highly recommend this for any special occasions, or if you're looking for good food. A gem of an establishment.

I will never ever shut up about how PERFECT this restaurant is. It’s quickly become a family favorite and staple of every St Andrew’s visit. Menu changes daily, with perfectly cooked proteins accompanied by creative and delicious sides. We had fried skate fish, pork chop, and lamb chop. To top off a perfect menu and atmosphere, the service exceeds every expectation. If you’re still reading, stop what you’re doing and make a reservation immediately!

The pig head croquettes, pork chop with lentils and chips were absolutely standout! The lamb was fantastic as well, however quite pricey for 5 slices.

Our family of 5 visited later on Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed our visit. Menu was diverse and interesting, it's not by any means elevated pub grub so don't go with that expectation. Food was excellently presented and tasted great. Equally drinks fantastic. Whilst the service was good and initially very good, it did slide off towards then end and eventually it was just our table in the restaurant with no staff around, we had to find someone to request the bill and it was still 1 hour to closing. By no means did it spoil our experience and we'd 100% recommend visiting, although we'd look to return at a different day & time.

I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to dine at Kinneuchar Inn for awhile and our visit did not disappoint. We started with a few Cumbrae oysters and the octopus starter, which was a special. The oysters were fresh, and the octopus very flavorful. Usually at nice places, I find that the starters tend to outshine the main - not here. My partner and I both got the lamb and a side of potatoes. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth and perfectly paired with the tomatoes and feta. Our waiter was kind enough to give us a complimentary slice of bread to mop up the leftover sauce. We enjoyed the raspberry tart and cheese for dessert. The wine list was also memorable, and I always appreciate when there’s an option to order a carafe. We tried to call a cab back to our hotel at the end of the evening. Perhaps a rookie move that we did not plan ahead, but every taxi said they were booked. Thinking we were stranded, our waiter swooped in and saved the day, calling a taxi service where he knew someone who could help. I’d be back to Kinneuchar in a heartbeat (but I’d probably plan a little better on my end!).

Yelp
The Kinneuchar Inn has been reborn after two years, and the food is inspired, delicious, and not expensive. A great meal can be had, a bowl of soup in the bar and a pint is also available, and chef James Ferguson is a welcome addition to Fife's food scene. With only 32 seats, one must book, but believe me, it's worth the admin, it's worth the wait to slide into this story book town's modern restaurant and tuck into blissful food. Pheasant & trotter pie, sublime, and I don't even eat anything like that, ever, but I did, and home smoked sea trout with cucumber was utterly refreshing, then chocolate pot au creme with prunes, intense and sweet and you leave there very happy. Thank you for splendid food, gracious and friendly staff and easy prices. Look out Fife, here is a new great place.

Yelp
if you want some free advice.... avoid this place like you would botulism. The food is fantastically below average and predominately re-heated leftovers from the day before. Upon complaining, the landlord didn't want to know... 'if you don't like it, there's the door' was his reaction. Had my partner not wanted to leave without a fuss and put the experience behind us, I'm sure this apathetic individual would have let the situation devolve into a public slanging match with no concern for his other customers. I 'award' one star because the place is quite cosy but ruined by the attitude of the landlord... even the staff looked ashamed at his behaviour.
