Texas Burger Chain Whataburger Will Open a Roaming Food Truck in 2021 | Eater Austin

"As the university prepares for the fall semester, this campus dining hall will add late-night hours (open through 11 p.m.), operate with limited in-person capacity and reconfigured layouts to promote social distancing, make menus available to students before entry, and offer a more limited set of menu items than usual." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
“we have vegan options” and these are the vegan options in question the only reason they don’t get 1 star is bc they had good desserts and this place is surprisingly the best dining hall on campus in regard to vegan food. says a lot

Google
While the food isn’t excellent, it’s decent enough as a college student. The staff are always super friendly!!! My one critic is that I wish they served fish on fridays during lent.

Google
I love the food top to bottom. Even the fries were so delicious. They have basically covered all the cuisines with their beef fried rice ans Swedish meatballs standing out the most. Combining with pizza, pasta, salad bar, and soup, everyone can find something they love here. Not to mention the ice cream machines and wild variety of juices. For $12 and this such high quality of dining and selection, this place is definitely a gem within downtown Austin.

Google
Food is terrible. Vegetables are overcooked and mushy and rice and veggie patties are often so undercooked that they're raw. They say they have vegetarian & vegan options but the vegan section always has terrible food, and the plant-based meat often has a distinctive butane taste, making it inedible. It is completely impossible to have vegetarian food that both tastes good and is healthy. Meat options may be better, but as a vegetarian, having to eat here was the single worst thing about my experience as a freshman at UT.

Google
Great experience. Love the soups. I do live here so not a ton of other options for me but nonetheless BIG FAN. Always a party in kins dining. No girl quite like a kins girl. We out.

Google
It was very filthy and not well maintained the ice cream machine was nasty and the food was mediocre and cold in some parts

Google
My favorite dining hall on campus. The staff is friendly, and the food is pretty good, especially for a dining hall. I enjoy the outdoor patio seating. If you don't have the unlimited resident meal plan, I'd recommend checking the menu online before you go.

Google
The staff are great people but this places Achilles heel is the ingredients they work with are slop. place is nasty and miserable. Love the staff shoutout Mitch. food may induce depression and panic attacks.

Yelp
Best dining on campus. Food is a step above the other cafeterias, jester has creepy staff that stare at you while you eat

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised for dinning hall food. There were a lot of options to choose from. All of which were not bad. The dinning hall was pretty clean too. My favorite was the grilled cheese with tomato soup.

Yelp
$12.99 for one pass if you don't have the dining plan but it's industrial terrible. I can only imagine this is what they feed in prison. The food is not made to order but sits in pans and gets old fast. Not a lot of healthy options if you don't want a salad. Ate at the MSU dining facilities and they were 10x better.

Yelp
Yoghurt bar with Greek yoghurt and fruit is the best thing here. Hamburger bun was hard, meat was chewy. Veggie burger was decent. Actual vegetables were highly salted and buttered. Soy chicken was surprisingly tasty. Service was friendly. Would be nice if students talked to each other .... Lots of kids sitting alone

Yelp
There's a lot of good reviews here. Most of what people say is true: the people are very nice. the service is fast, and the location is convenient. The food is dirt cheap if you're a student. Problem is, the food tastes cheap. I think there should be at least one review that harps on the issues with kinsolving dining, so here is a list: - The tofu is gross and soft - The soups are bland - The chicken is dry - Vegetables are overcooked and unseasoned - The carrots manage to be too hard on the inside and too soft on the outside - The servers put everything on top of everything else. Be prepared to have those soggy vegetables poured directly on top of your bread - The pita bread is always stale - The day-old pita is instead called "naan" - Anything pasta related is overcooked and almost porridge-like (including ravioli, lasagna, etc.) - All the fruit has been covered in sugar - The cottage cheese is across from the yogurt so there's always cottage cheese in the yogurt - The syrup with breakfast is literally corn syrup - The granola is crushed up nature valley bars. Not bad, but really sweet. - The milk tastes like water - The meat is extremely tough, like inedibly so - Any stand-alone meat is usually not great - Any cheese is velveeta - The rice is stiff minute rice - The broccoli is way too big so it's overcooked on the outside and underdone on the inside - The fries are sometimes wet? like they steamed them - The tomatoes are stiff, cold, and gross - The eggs are powdered - The pizza is absolutely awful. Like, bare crust with ranch and a salad on it. ...and now for the good parts: - All the fast food is fine: burgers, fried chicken, tater tots, etc. - Salads are fine - Large cereal selection - Decent orange juice - What they call "pass-o-guava" is tasty - Lots of sodas if that's your thing - Good hummus and crackers - The fruit, although sweet, is still decent - Good stir fry, when they have it - Specials are in general decent - Gourmet nights on saturdays that are in general good - Beans are good when they have them - Rice is sometimes better than just minute rice - The head cook is a great guy. I honestly think food tastes better when he serves it. - "Quesadillas" and "flautas" are alright but absolutely not what they advertise to be - Same can be said of their "indian food" - They have this vegetarian brussel sprouts dish and I honestly think it's the only time I've ever liked brussel sprouts. - Breakfast food is decent - Good tacos - I've heard they have decent wraps, though I haven't had them myself. - Desserts are decent, if a little sweet - Soft serve is decent, if a little watery - Seriously, a friendly staff makes the food taste twice as good - Sour cream is inoffensive - Coffee is okay, if a little weak /sweet. - Pizza is sometimes ok - "Veggie patties" are tasty. That's all I can think of right now. It's enough to get you through the year and is very cost-efficient. I worry about any vegans or vegetarians because sometimes the fried food line is the only good thing, but for most people it's decent enough for dorm life. I also heard about people developing celiac disease from just eating fried chicken and burgers, so uh don't do that i guess

Yelp
Wow, even though J2 Dining Hall and Kinsolving are in the same dining umbrella, for some weird odd reason, Kinsolving serves better buffet cafeteria style food than J2 (don't ask me why... I still wonder till this very day). I feel that Kinsolving has more variety and a better quality of campus food. I appreciate their cleanliness, environment and eating atmosphere inside and out. There is lots of food lines for all different tastes and palettes, and the quality of it is quite impressive! I think one of my favorites is their yogurt bar, where you can add fruit, toppings and other healthy options. It's probably one of the best things that campus has to offer in a buffet line. Along with the other food being offered everyday, we cannot stop this review unless we add the Saturday evening meal, which is so much better than their daily activity of food. If I had to choose my favorite on campus dining service, go to Kinsolving in North Campus. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Of the two unlimited dining halls on campus, J2 and Kins, I think Kins is slightly better. Kins is smaller, cleaner, friendlier, and it has quiet seating areas, inside and out. Most of the food between the two dining halls is about the same. I think the food taste decent early in the semester but that it gets old. If you're a student, try to diversify your diet by eating off campus and using your dining dollars at the campus cafes. The food here is just okay.

Marianna V.

Yelp
Kins has the nicest service and a surprisingly good selection of food! They're super dedicated to responding to student comments and updating their menu frequently! They also serve bagels from wholy bagel which is pretty incredible. Better than J2 by a long shot.

Yelp
Oh, the grand Kinsolving buffet! With one admission to the Kinsolving buffet, you can help yourself to a marvelous European style continental banquet. Complete with everything: forbidden fruit, tiny plums, orange melons, green leaves, colored platters, and oh so much more delicacies bound to electrify your deepest salivary glands! The Kinsolving buffet is not merely a simple buffet, not just a modest cafeteria, but something fulfilling to the spirit, a flabbergasting yet astonishingly enlightening experience for the ages that questions your existence with every mouthful. Oh, where should we fly to first? Located at the back of the eatery is Chef's Features, much like a jewel hidden in the warm sands of an oasis. Every day at the Chef's Features contains a novel experience like the joy of twisting the innovative cereal dispensers to the anticipation of the savory crunch of Lucky Charms. Next, buckle up, as we visit the lush fields of Farmer's Garden! Here, the salad is fresh and invigorating while the dressings flow like water cascading down Iguazu Falls in Argentina. A true delight to the senses! Our last destination but surely not for long, Sweet Sensations caresses you in an amiable embrace and fondles your taste buds with a tingling, honeyed touch, sending you off on Whitis Avenue with an insatiable craving for more. And to think that all of this comes with the room! Oh, what will you think of next, Kinsolving buffet?

Yelp
This place was my friends and my favorite place to eat on campus when I lived in Simkins Dorm. In fact, my buds and I still like to come eat here from time to time because of the good times we've had and the food we enjoyed. Everyday, groups of us would walk up Dean Keeton St. to "K-town" (as I nicknamed it) to enjoy a variety of foods at a reasonable price with our Dine-in Dollars. My favorite dishes were chicken chrispitos (big crunchy taquitos with cheese inside), spicy chicken burgers, a wide variety of wraps, and their quesadillas. Albeit, the food here isn't 5 star, but there is a wide variety everyday and if your a student in the residence halls, its the best option for price and food. There is plenty of seating space and a somewhat homey feel you can get if you're there with plenty of friends. Price: if you're using dine-in dollars, its a steal. if your paying cash or credit its still a good deal, but there are better options for your buck. Competition: K-town's biggest competition is J2(the buffet dining hall on the other side of campus). K-town has J2 beat in the aesthetics dept, and the food quality and price is essentially the same. I'd recommend this place to anyone living on campus or looking for a filling meal while at UT, but for everyone else, its not something to go out of your way for. Why I especially liked it: going to K-town wasn't just going to get food, it was a bonding time with my friends from Simkins, a great place for us all to go hangout, eat, and have the craziest conversations without worrying about making a fool out of ourselves.

Yelp
Good buffet style dining hall. The current lunch price is $8.50 total (including tax). They have sandwiches, wraps, daily entrees, pasta, potatoes, a mediocre salad bar, ice cream, cereal, make-your-own waffles (excellent). Overall, it's one of the best places to eat on campus when you're hungry for a full meal.

David O.

Yelp
It's inside the Kinsolving dorm building, but it's open to the public. A decent buffet at a decent price. Lots of choices, and the main entrees (along the back wall) area different each day. Decent salad bar, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, cereal, etc. The make-your-own waffles are great (get the strawberry sauce that's by the other entrance).
