The Essential Guide to Osaka, Japan

"Dining at Kirameki is a sublime teppanyaki experience: an intimate restaurant on a quiet Dotonbori side street where premium-rank wagyu is prepared tableside (served five different ways), and you can sip a classic Suntory Hibiki Whisky highball while watching the show—ideal for a special evening out." - Kim Kay Kim Kay Kim Kay is a freelance writer with a focus on Japan travel and culinary culture. This was my first time experiencing a teppanyaki restaurant in Japan, and it turned out even better than I imagined — the entire experience was absolutely perfect! The chef was incredibly considerate. Even though we didn’t share a common language, he used a translation app to carefully explain each dish, and every course was prepared with so much attention and tasted amazing. The flavors were rich, layered, and truly memorable ❤️ The staff were also very thoughtful and friendly. The dining environment was quiet, yet the overall atmosphere felt warm and relaxing 🥰 It’s a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion with your partner 🩷 I highly recommend everyone to have their first teppanyaki experience at this restaurant — you won’t regret it! ❤️

We had a wonderful time! The chef was very hardworking, detailed and sincere. You can see that he's definitely passionate about his work. The food was really delicious and the presentation was done beautifully. Chef also took the time to explain each course using online translation. We didn't feel rushed throughout the entire course. The chef was also very patient and thoughtful. My 1 year old did fuss on and off and he was kind to fold some origami for her to play with. We highly recommend this place!

We were so fortunate to have enjoyed the incredible artistry and hospitality of the best teppanyaki ever! Originally I was looking for a restaurant serving Kobe beef. However, I got the sense from many online reviews that this branding has become a gimmick to raise price at other establishments catering to tourists. Instead, we stumbled upon this true hidden gem. Even though his English was limited, Chef Babazono took great care to Google translate explanations behind every wonderful dish. The presentation and taste was amazing throughout. I highly recommend you reserve ahead for a beautiful meal. We will certainly be back next time we are in Osaka!

This was one of the best teppanyaki experiences I had, everything you see is made fresh, every sauce, every vegetable and every ingredient. Note that for the lobster course, you would have to book in advance because it is subjected to availability. The dinner was 3 hours long for a full 8 course meal at about 200SGD. It was worth it and I would definitely return. The beef was alright as it wasn’t the best cut of beef, however the highlight for me was the lobster. The chef made a beurre Blanc sauce using the lobster innards and poured it over the lobster, it was amazing and packed with flavour. The chef has shown a high level of skill and care towards me and my family of 4. Although he was not well versed in English, he made an effort to translate every thing on his phone for every dish presentation. If you want the definition of fresh and non pre cooked food, come here.

We had an incredible dining experience watching each course expertly prepared right in front of us with remarkable skill and precision. Despite being non-Japanese speakers, Chef Takashi Babazono graciously took the time to explain each dish to us using a translation app, making the experience even more enjoyable. The flavors were innovative and delightful, and the highlight was definitely the Wagyu beef course, which was perfectly paired with a variety of complementary condiments. A truly memorable meal!

This is definitely the highlight of our trip! Their dishes are such an artwork since the beginning of cooking, the focus of detail while cooking, the balance of taste, color of food, choice of containers. With nice background music and lighting, provides a wonderful atmosphere. What I really love about was that they do provide child meal which our children enjoy so much. Thank you for the delicious meal and we will come again next time!

The dining experience is so good, with chef Ryota detailed explanation on each cuisine. The food quality is excellent, especially the lobster which is the most impressed part of tonight! Highly recommend and would visit again next time in Osaka!

Fantastic hidden Teppanyaki Reataurant in Osaka. Space for only 8 - 10 people. Food is absolute amazing. The chef is doing a great job. We spent around 3 hours there. We wholeheartedly recommend this place. Thank you for providing us with such a memorable experience.
