This is my go to spot when visiting from Texas. The sashimi is by far the best quality I've had anywhere. They have started getting busy so I would recommend getting on the waiting list before you get there. Inside the service was perfect.

Google
4.5 stars! Everything on the "Kiroro Super Star" section of the menu sounds enticing, I think I'll be back to try more. Today, went with the priciest one, super sugoi box, which is basically a 30 pc omakase. Good for one large hungry person, or for sharing between two. I actually had some trouble finishing it myself, even as a big eater lol. Fish was fresh, but some had too much wasabi, e.g. it overpowered the taste of my fav, uni. I've had better fish but this is pretty good overall. Clean interior and a nicer casual place to catch up with friends. Good service, frequent water/tea refills. Recommend making a reservation if you got a larger group or going during peak hours. Solid sushi spot!

Google
Total Score: 6.65 Bathroom: 3.25/5 A bit broken, but fairly clean and usable. Floor can use some cleaning and the door can be fixed up. Customer Service: 4.5/5 Nice and helpful, and refilled waters promptly Ambiance: 4/5 Classic contemporary Japanese restaurant vibe. Food: 3.5/5 Decent sushi, good bang for your buck with the combo, and good variety. But shapes could be more consistent and missing the big umami factor. Edamame could also have been actually cooked, instead of given cold. Very hard to eat lowkey cuz it’s like cold salt instead of warm salt. Wow: 0/1 Normal Japanese restaurant Total Score = BR + CS + 2*AM + 5*FOOD + WOW

If you like to sit elbow to elbow in a very cramped, noisy space with no real service, this place is for you! My first meal (scallop roll) arrived in more than 30 min; the other salmon roll never came. I heard another lady ask about her food, so I'm not the only person they forgot. Don't come here if you're in a rush; better yet, don't come at all.

Google
We ordered one of their specials, Regular Chirashi Bowl, 2 types of sashimi and one Spider Ramen. The food was great. The Chirashi Bowl was spectacular. The Spider Ramen was quite interesting. Nice presentation with fried soft-shelled crab and shrimp tempura. The sashimi was also very fresh. The restaurant was quite fancy yet cozy. The price was on the expensive side, but the food was delicious.

Google
Very busy, efficient with good quality offerings. Quality of sashimi was excellent. I had gyoza and ramen. Gyoza were deep fried which was a disappointment, and the ramen was good , but probably not their strongest offering. The chashu pork and egg was good quality , and additional vegetables were plentiful. However the sashimi was excellent.

Google
Holy crap this meal just saved me hundreds of dollars. I can have food just as good as what I had in Japan without flying back to Japan! That super omakase was hands down the best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan 🤤

Richard Jou

Google
Are you kidding me? Check out the photo I attached. That’s their “Super blue fin roll”. This is an insult on life itself. The other stuff is all overpriced. The nigiri this place serves is designed to look pretty but it has horrible balance and is typically doused in sauce that obscures the flavor of the expensive fish they use. The rice ratio is bad. They don’t add enough rice to their nigiri.

Zacharie V.

Yelp
The food was amazing, it deserves all 5 stars. Edmond was the only thing that surpassed the food. Amazing service by constantly bringing food and drinks quickly made our dining experience all the better. Much love for this restaurant

Brandi T.

Yelp
Finally tried their super omakase - 15 pieces for $88 is such a steal! And it was definitely worth it. My favorites were the seared kanpachi, the o-toro, salmon toro, scallop, oyster, wagyu and uni on the fried shiso leaf. Each piece was packed with flavor and I loved the presentation. I'd definitely get this again and again!

Yelp
Good spot to scratch a sushi craving but join their online waitlist/ make a reservation first! Food: Ultimate Saba roll : 5/5 DELISH. Great if you're a fan of mackerel. Slices of fish are thick and the crunch of the tempura in the middle is great. Mango unagi special roll: 4/5 Didn't quite like how the mango interacted with the unagi sauce. Something about the sweetness and sourness didn't work for me. Still a tasty roll. Will be better to get during mango season. Spider ramen: 4/5 Typical ramen portion size, lots of toppings. Had a mellower taste vs other ramen places. Good to share on a cold day and the whole soft shell crab is a treat. Service: Fast and friendly! Ambiance: This is a pretty busy place so it's best to use their online waitlist prior. Not heavily decorated but the interior is nice enough to bring friends and family for a casual meal.

Yelp
Came here for Valentine's Day and the restaurant was decorated with red heart balloons tied to each seat! What a cute touch :) We ordered the deluxe chirashi bowl, the goku roll, and the geso karaage. The deluxe chirashi bowl is a pretty big portion and it's a great size for two people to share. The cuts of fish in it were really fresh & delicious. It had salmon belly, fatty tuna, uni, hamachi, sweet shrimp, and more! I also loved the freshly grated wasabi that was drizzled on top. The fried octopus was a really big portion, the pieces of octopus were large and fried perfectly. It was crispy & not oily at all. The service was fast and attentive and they did a great job checking in on us, clearing our plates, and refilling our waters. I'd definitely return!

Yelp
Amazing place to get both vegetarian/vegan sushi rolls and regular sushi rolls. Only place I know of yet which has unique menu catering to both equally. Service is quick and they do really make sure everything is perfect. Different sake available to pair with sushis. Parking is easy. Wait is there on weekends. Better on to join on yelp or make reservations before.

Yelp
Okay for reference, is this the best sushi place ever...no. It's pretty good. I give 5 stars because for me, every restaurant starts at 5 and goes down if things aren't up to par, issues occur, or I feel it's not worth the price spent. Luckily for Kiroro, none of those negative things happened. Kiroro hit all the spots. I've just been to some really amazing sushi spots recently and so it's apples and oranges. My sushi judgement is still cloudy from my dinner at Uchi last month. I reserved a table on Yelp, recommend you do that for dinner, that time gets busy. Service was friendly and mostly attentive. I love the complimentary green tea and continuous refills. Miso soup was fine, it's miso soup. Everything had pretty good flavor. Honestly my favorite thing was my unagi. It was delicious. We ordered some pretty basic stuff so I can't say it blew me away, it was all solid. I saw other people ordering some good things. The item that looked the best but I didn't go for was the omakase plank. The pieces of fish on there looked awesome! So, you can have an excellent dinner at kiroro, if you order and spend correctly. We topped out at about $65 dollars for 2. That's really cheap and a decent deal. I enjoyed my food... I did end up having to just pull out the hamachi from the roll toward as there was too much rice hiding the fish. The mushroom tempura roll was an okay choice, not sure what we were thinking there. I'm not vegan so we should have gotten more fish lol. Dragon roll was good and they do give an option to upgrade to real crab. Didn't do it but that's nice they offer it. Overall myself and my friend, who I'm visiting, enjoyed it.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place for its VEGGIE SUSHI. Hubby and I went here for an anniversary lunch. So many options!!! And all of them really flavorful. Loved 3 outta the 4 veggie rolls. LOTS OF VEGGIE OPTIONS!!! -cucumber avocado crunch (best) -spicy veggie roll (yum) -mango crunch special roll (yum) -veggie dragon roll (was okay) The staff here was really great. Great indoors. Highly recommend this place! Can't wait to go back! :)

Adreanna E.

Yelp
This is actually one of THE best sushi restaurants in the Bay, SF included, this place is unreal & might actually change your brain chemistry. I've been coming here for the last 1.5yrs and feel like going anywhere else is a mistake at this point. Plus the service is SO fast, attentive and nice. Get the deluxe charashi bowl (like $48 - enough for 2), the obeio box ($118 - worth it), the double toro roll and the ikura nigiri. Also their walu (escolar) is fantastic, so I recommend getting something with that. Cool and casual ambiance, good for casual meal or a celebration. Oh and try the Aladdin sake!!

Derek C.

Yelp
Place is very small, and quite loud due to large group of people or families. Due to it being small not much room or privacy. Still food was amazing here and can't go wrong with sushi. Off to the food review! 4.1/5 - Double Toro - Despite the flavors of the fish is really good and it looks amazing. I wish the toro on top wasn't as smashed as it was. Leaves a weird mushy texture as it reaches your mouth. Still good, just texture wise a bit off 4.5/5 - Super Sugoi Box - Very skeptical at first due to the price and what you get, however each section has great flavor and very unique. Gives off a great impression and a nice way to share with a partner. Comes with a pair of oyster shooters, tastes fresh. 2 different bowls of rice, one was more of poke inspired which didn't taste too great, but the other with uni on it and raw egg yolk was amazing. Very creamy and uni tastes sweet with no bitterness. Other sections were different raw fishes, scallop, and one meat dish each tastes good no complaints

Richard J.

Yelp
Don't be fooled. The sushi LOOKS great. But it is off. For what you pay, you should be expecting MUCH better from what they serve. Remember people, high quality sushi is all about the quality of fish, the knife skills to cut the fish properly, and the rice quality and ratio. Keep this in mind!!! Pros: The service is exceptionally fast. And the sushi is "instagram worthy" But I think that's where the pros end. My girlfriend ordered the regular omakase which came in a long plank board that barely fit on our table. It was precariously balancing on our table. I ordered a bunch of nigiri a la carte. Every single piece of sushi was doused in soy sauce that was thick and sweet enough to be called teriyaki sauce. But the worst part was that the rice ratio was really bad. Each piece had maybe like 15 grains of rice. Totally not enough rice to call it sushi. You can call it slabs of fish with hidden rice garnish at this point. What is this, keto sushi? A lot of the pieces were completely doused in ponzu which completely obscured the flavor of the fish. And for some reason they randomly add ube paste to their sushi. Spoiler alert it doesn't make sense. Ambience: a very casual vibe, i would have guessed they sold burgers if i didn't see the food. In fact why would you walk in here and drop 100 dollars on a MID sushi omakase? it doesn't make sense. The worst was the special roll that i ordered. it was the "super blue fin roll" or something (first special roll listed). I added a photo. LOOK AT IT. Wtf is that?? It was an insult to the concept of sushi.

Elaine L.

Yelp
I can't speak for the ambience as the restaurant as we ordered on DoorDash, but we were really impressed by the quality of the fish! The rolls were really yummy, but we especially loved the salmon nigiri. Will be ordering it from here again in the future!

Yelp
Made reservations on Yelp to try Kiroro Sushi in Belmont. Located in a shopping center on El Camino Real it's hard to see from the street. Kiroro Sushi has a variety of sake, beers and fresh fish offerings. When we arrived the restaurant was full and I'm glad I made reservations. We started with some sake, beer, edemame and ordered the following items: Shrimp tempura 4/5 stars Hamachi Kama 4/5 stars Super Sugoi Box 5/5 stars 30 pc sashimi box Geso Karrage 5/5 stars Shima Aji 5/5 stars Golden eye 5/5 stars Veggie Ramen 2/5 stars actually came out Luke warm had to send it back to get reheated. Taste meh. Parking in the shopping center. Service was fast and efficient.

Yelp
For having gone to many sushi restaurants, this one wasn't too memorable, but did have its shining moments. The fish tasted fresh and the quality was great. I'd love to try the other rolls they had because many of the signatures included premium fish like blue fin tuna and so on. One downside was that one of our friends had been waiting for his meal while all of us had received ours for a while, and yet no staff bothered to check in on that. When we asked our waiter, he said it was coming. Fast forward, we're almost all done and some girl comes by and we ask her about it. She says she'll ask, and shortly afterwards our friend finally gets his meal. They definitely forgot about it. Otherwise the food is cool. Service is eh.

Christian A.

Yelp
Passed by this sushi place a few times but never had the urge to try it. Couldn't decide what to have for dinner and ended up pulling the trigger on trying this place. Came on a Saturday night and we were fortunate enough to get seats quickly. The service was fast and very polite, provided recommendations as we were first timers to the restaurant. Interior of the restaurant was standard for a Japanese restaurant. The sushi rolls were very flavorful and have great sized portions. They're known for their omakase, definitely will be trying it in the future. Great sushi spot in Belmont! Definitely worth giving it a try!

Yelp
Use Yelp waitlist and reservations! I was a fool the first time I came here and I didn't realize they took Yelp reservations/had a Yelp waitlist. Waited for about 20 minutes at the peak of starvation. The second time I came, I hopped on the Yelp waitlist 15 minutes out when it gave an average 25-35 minute wait. And then I scrolled down and saw open reservation times for every 15 minutes for the rest of the night. They have about 12ish tables and 6 seats along the bar. Their menu is categorized by the type of fish, which is really smart. Their portions are generous and prices are not too bad. 2 rolls, 1 appetizer, and a few pieces of nigiris totaled to $70 out the door. I would come back over and over and over again.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Came on a weekday lunch and easily grabbed a spot. They do have a nice lunch combo for $20-24 (salad, gyoza, roll, sashimi), but opted to try some of their other options. Deluxe chirashi bowl: Comes with a variety of fish. [NOTE: For salmon, hamachi, etc, they provide 4 slices. For scallop, uni, amaebi, they only provide one piece]. I'm glad I tried it to get a sense of the quality of the fish, but wouldn't get it again. The fish quality was okay and not outstanding. They use quite a bit of seasoning, sauce and toppings, which masks the fish quality a bit. I personally would have preferred letting the fish shine itself. They have a very extensive list of specialty rolls, most are $17-19. Ordered the Double toro roll based on their recommendations. Quite tasty. Overall, a good sushi joint if you're looking primarily for rolls. Quality of the sushi is average though.

Judy C.

Yelp
I've been here twice now. Always on a Monday because they are one of the few sushi places opened on Mondays. For Monday night sushi, Kiroro would be my pick. It can get pricey but I find the portion sizes to be bigger than comparably priced places and the fish is mostly pretty good quality. The style of sushi isn't traditional as the nigiri comes pre-seasoned. Ikura and ankimo nigiri have a unique presentation on a fried shiso leaf topped with rice. There's always some interesting selections on the special fish board. The one thing I've had that I wouldn't get again is the tempura. The batter to shrimp ratio is too high, and the batter is just too heavy and flavorless for my preferences. Service is friendly and helpful while not being overbearing.

Wes O.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, we had the omakase box and it was amazing. The waiters and host were friendly and consistent with checking in on our dining experience.

Daniella X.

Yelp
Kiroro Sushi: Highly recommend this well-rated Japanese spot for lunch and dinner. The service is warm and vibes is great! Always packed! Because they have the real deal! Deluxe Chirashi Bowl: The upside is that most of the fish are my favorites, and the portion is generous. At $49, it's quite a good deal. The downside is that there's only a small piece of uni. Baked Baby Scallop Roll: After having a lot of raw dishes, I wanted something warm, so I ordered this. It's creamy and absolutely delicious--highly recommend! Chelf Omakase: Omg, I just had it tonight. It is good and definitely worth $88 I got all the fish I want ! seared salmon toro: the salmon belly melted in my mouth I totally recommend you order this! 100% worthy!

Mary F.

Yelp
My friend and I went here for dinner tonight and loved it! I had both of the rice-less rolls, and for the one with crab I upgraded to real crab. That roll might be my favorite roll of all time! I recommend making a reservation since it seems like a popular place. They moved a bunch of tables around while we were there, so it seems like they can accompany parties of many sizes. There's plenty of parking in the lot and nearby at Safeway. The servers were very nice and attentive. I'll be back!

Anna L.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night at 8 and it was packed. Good thing we made a reservation the night prior. My boyfriend and I got three rolls to share along with two pieces of the saba (mackerel) nigiri, which was a special that was featured on the wall. The rolls were all very tasty but they were small and expensive for the size. Unfortunately the saba nigiri was absolutely terrible. It was so incredibly fishy tasting and the texture was so firm/hard to the point that it was almost like a crunch. For something featured as a special and $6 each, we felt nothing but disappointment. My boyfriend had to spit it out and I left half of it uneaten on my plate. Wish the waiter asked us how the food was, especially after recommending the saba to us and saying it was good before we ordered it. Nice place to try but I probably wouldn't come again since we weren't full when we left and ended up getting pizza after.

Dave S.

Yelp
Nice little place. Staff were nice. The tempura was great! I do not recall what roll we ordered (doing review few days later) but both, very good. I would give a 5 star but they never asked us what we wanted to drink Parking lot was a little tight!

Emily P.

Yelp
Came here a few weeks ago. A tiny place but pretty fast service! They made a mistake on our order and fixed it by offering the toro nigiri for free. We ordered a hotate, toro and wagyu nigiris, mango tuna, and super blue fin toro roll. They were all super fresh and delicious! The fish was amazing quality. Would definitely come back again!!

Ashley W.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday morning for my fiancé's birthday! We ordered the super sugoi box, mango tuna roll, super blue fin toro roll, toro and waygu beef nigiri and it was so yummy. My favorite was the toro roll- everything just melted in my mouth! We surprisingly were unable to finish all the food because it was so filling. I definitely recommend making a reservation as this place does fill up quickly!

T M.

Yelp
We love this small sushi place. Be prepared to wait if you're coming during peak hours. The food is great and the service is no nonsense. I hope this place moves or expands to a larger location cuz this tiny place can't hold onto their big flavors.

Joseph M.

Yelp
I just woke up from my post NOC shift nap and I was debating what to eat. I've had this spot on my bucket list for a good minute and I just paid my monthly credit card bill so here I am haha. I came in and I ordered the Super Sugoi Box. Lemme tell you this was amazing! All of the fish were so fresh and just an explosion of flavor with each bite. The service here is great as well! The staff here was kind and was great with breaking down their menu. They were also very polite. The restaurant itself is small but nicely decorated. Highly recommend this spot! Try it out if you like. :)

Ally W.

Yelp
Do not expect authentic Japanese food here. In fact, I think the restaurant is run by a Chinese staff. I like innovative sushi, i.e. Americanized sushi, so like this place very much. The menu here is extensive. We ordered several rolls and enjoyed most of them: * Walnut Prawn Roll (shrimp tempura topped with candied walnuts): my favorite; if you like the Chinese dish walnut prawns, you will like this roll * Mango Spider Roll (soft-shell crab topped with mangos): the mangoes were ripe and super sweet, adding a nice tropical flavor to a routine Spider Roll * Mulan Roll (spicy scallop topped with butterfish): there was hot sauce on top of the roll in addition to the spicy scallop inside, so it was a little too spicy for me (1/2 star off) * Red Devil Roll (spicy tuna topped with seaweed): not bad; the menu listed truffle oil as an ingredient, but I did not taste any (1/2 star off) Service is pretty efficient...as you would expect in any Chinese restaurant.

Manan B.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem for anyone craving vegetarian sushi! The Mango Crunch Special Roll is an absolute delight, with a perfect burst of flavors in every bite. We also tried the Veggie Phoenix Roll recently, and it was just as fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying. The restaurant takes reservations, which is great because it can get busy, and there's plenty of parking available. The service is friendly and attentive, however the food it can be a bit pricey. One thing we wouldn't recommend is the deep-fried rolls--they weren't quite our thing--but with so many other great options on the menu, it's easy to find something you'll love. If you're into vegetarian sushi, this spot is definitely worth checking out!

Nathan L.

Yelp
The sushi was very good, and the most memorable rolls for me was the Kiroro Roll and the Old County Roll. The service is also very fast, and I would come here again.

Amy V.

Yelp
I came here for a birthday dinner because I was intrigued by the treasure box they had. We ordered the treasure box, ramen and karaage. The chicken was good but the ramen was not the best. The treasure box had a beautiful display, but I did end up not digesting it as well later on.

Tyler Y.

Yelp
Walked in for a table of 2 during dinner. We came later (around 8:30) so there was no wait. But the restaurant was still full for the most part. The staff were friendly and checked up on us consistently to refill our waters. Great service! Now we ordered solely sushi rolls. And I'm glad we did because they were so good. Saiko Roll - 5/5. Hands down my favorite. I was hesitant to order at first, but this was a sleeper. It had these little tiny honey walnut bits that gave the roll the perfect amount of sweetness and crunch. The seared white tuna on top was chef's kiss. Lots of good smoky flavor in there! Old County Roll - 5/5. This had a slightly similar taste to the Saiko Roll. Sweet (from the unagi sauce) and savory smoky flavors from the seared hamachi. Shrimp tempura crunch was a nice touch too. Romeo and Julie Roll - 4.5/5. This is topped with raw scallops on top with salmon and avocado rolled in the middle. A roll made for seafood lovers. It is a pretty "raw" roll compared to some of the others but that's right up my alley. Double Toro Roll - 4/5. Again one of the more "raw" rolls. It's chopped toro on top (with wasabi) rolled in salmon. This was tasty but I felt lacked flavor/sauce compared to the other rolls I had. Still tasty!

Denise Z.

Yelp
came here a second time on christmas eve and really enjoyed it again :) service was attentive and super fast, sushi was fresh and beautifully paired with toppings, with less rice on the nigiri compared to the fish. it feels very cozy and intimate in the space. my new go-to spot!

Ricky K.

Yelp
This place is a very solid spot for sushi. It's a small place but with lots of great variety to choose from. Honestly, I don't remember some of the rolls we ordered but I remembered everything was good! We ended up getting an omakase nigiri set to share and I will say this place definitely has some good cuts of fresh fish. A lot of the pieces had that smooth buttery texture to it and I loved the variety of nigiri that was chosen. There were selections such as hotate (scallops), wagyu, salmon belly, fried shrimp head, etc. The rolls are all really good too. We got the Deluxe Chirashi bowl too. From an aesthetic point of view, it is a beautiful bowl. And with the arrangement of fishes and the toppings, it was the cherry on top for me. There's a lot of rice on the bottom as well so you'll definitely feel stuffed after eating the whole bowl to yourself. Good quality food and good quality fish, I can definitely see myself coming back here again!

Anisha D.

Yelp
holy!! THIS IS MY FAV SUSHI SPOT in the bay forsure, maybe ever... I can't say enough about the quality of the fish. Yes it's expensive but you actually get what you are paying for I always get the deluxe chirashi bowl when I come here and it sends me into a trance it's so good My family typically gets an omakase set and they have raved about that as well. Service is amazing as expected - it's great pls go here! such a great and cute spot with insane food

Jaky Y.

Yelp
Came for lunch and enjoyed our meal. We ordered a variety of rolls and sushi pieces, and everything was yummy. Definitely not cheap, and Kiroro emphasizes the aesthetics of the sushi - their dishes are clearly made to look pretty. Quality was decent.

Kim T.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW!! What an amazing meal. We came on a Tuesday night and there was a 20 min wait. Their menu was pretty extensive but what stood out to me was the deluxe chirashi and super sugoi box. The deluxe chirashi was packed with a variety of fresh fish along with uni, scallops, and amaebi. You probably could share this with someone because it's so big. My sister and I shared the super sugoi box. Every dish was top tier. Our box had things like A5 Wagyu, seared salmon toro, and scallops. My mom got the spider ramen and it came with a huge soft shell crab. The rolls were also delicious. My boyfriend loved the kiroro roll. Only thing we wouldn't get again would be the tempura because the batter was thicker than we were used to. Overall, the service was great too. They came around often to check on the table and refill our water. Look forward to coming back for the next meal.

Yvonne L.

Yelp
I made a reservation for 2 @7pm on a Friday. I'm glad we did, because the restaurant was filled! The first thing I noticed was it was so loud. Within minutes we had a table, but I asked to be seated at the bar to try and escape the noise. Eating with that level of noise would've been miserable, but luckily a good amount of family parties left after 10-15 minutes and it was normal. My suggestion to the restaurant, install some noise absorbing panels or something to help with noise control! Otherwise, food was tasty and beautiful! :) They give edamame on the house, and we ordered the Super Sugoi box and double toro roll. Both tasted great and filled us up. The super sugoi box alone probably would've satisfied us both. I would come here again~

Fumika T.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. First time checking out Belmont. I don't believe this is a part of the downtown area, but there was no issues parking so we're happy about that. We came in just the right time to beat the rush! It got crowded starting from around 7pm. We shared a super sugoi box and double toro roll between the two of us, and received edamame as part of the service. It was the perfect amount for us, as there's not as much carbs in the super sugoi box. I was impressed with the quality of each item in the box considering how easily we walked in to the restaurant over the weekend. The uni and amaebi were high quality - I don't think I've had amaebi so thick and juicy. The sashimi were seasoned perfectly. The double toro roll is probably not something we would have ordered if we actually read the menu because it has mango in it, but it was the refreshing taste that made the roll unique. Also impressed that they use fresh leaves for decoration and not plastic! I'd absolutely go back but only for another special occasion as the super sugoi box was a bit expensive, but it's a must-order if you're going here.

Michelle M.

Yelp
We went here for our 9 year wedding anniversary. Hands down, this was a great choice. I made reservations, not having ever been her before. I'm so glad that I did, because they had people waiting to get a table. Kiroro Sushi is vegetarian friendly, they offer a super long vegetarian sushi list. I can't say anything was bad about our food. The restaurant is what I would consider average sized for an intimate sushi place. There is one bathroom, I always found myself waiting for someone, but not for too long. You're not going to get that quiet romantic experience, people talk loud. We were okay with that, because it was all about the food. We'll for sure go back and try other items off the menu.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Discovered this sushi place on yelp and wanted to give it a try! It's located in the same shopping center as Safeway so plenty of parking available. I heard they also have omakase available at this spot, and their chirashi bowls look amazing! Items ordered: - Double Toro roll: Really great roll and flavor. The toro was soft but not as soft as other times I have had toro where it melts in your mouth. It also comes with mango topped with fresh wasabi. - Dragon roll: Can never go wrong with a dragon roll! Rolls are pretty decently sized. - Warriors roll: The crispy onions on top gave a really nice flavor to the roll. - Sashimi salad: The amount of food in this dish was INSANE as it came with a MOUNTAIN of food. There is plenty of leafy greens and sashimi in the dish, so it was a nice dish to split with others. Loved the flavor overall and it was a nice contrast to the rolls. I would want to come back to try the chirashi bowl or the box sets! Decent sushi spot!

Yelp
Best sushi in the peninsula! I have been coming here since I moved to the peninsula and it has NEVER disappointed! The oysters are so fresh and delicious, I highly recommend it as a starter. Let me also rave about Edmund who can recommend some great options and he's just the best! The entire staff is great, they're so nice! I suggest making a reservation since the place is small-ish so plan ahead, the sushi is worth it.

Yelp
Little tiny sushi bar in strip mall. Parking is tight Loud music. Seems like the staff want you in and out as I felt a little rushed. Great quality rolls. (See pics) Beer is warm / not too cold as the frig they use is an open frig. I like my beer coooold!!

Yelp
Hands down, the best chirashi I have ever had in both CA and NY! The bowl was packed with a wide variety of fish and a great portion of rice! My boyfriend was most excited for the sweet shrimp and the fried head. This was amazing priced and I couldn't even finish the full bowl! I can't wait to come back to try the unique rolls offered. Staff were great and very accommodating. Can't wait to visit again

Yelp
I was looking forward to coming to this place for a while now but I was underwhelmed with the kiroro combo that I chose. They had 4 rolls and assorted sashimi but the rolls in the combo was really simple and the fish was not fresh. The sashimi was okay, there was so much topping so I tasted less of the fish. I would recommend getting special rolls instead of the combo. But the staff was really nice and the service was pretty fast and I like the vibes in the restaurant!

Yelp
Good sushi for an affordable price. Stopped by here as I was in the area for a work event and craving sushi for lunch. The restaurant was tiny but I was quickly sat at the bar. The server was attentive and great!! I ordered uni and it came on a tempura shisho leaf which was super cool as I had never seen that before! Very crunchy and delicious. I also ordered a roll (forgot what it's called) and it was filling and delicious. Would come again if I'm back in the area. Will probably try omakase next time!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. This place was packed, and glad I made a reservation ahead of time. There were plenty of options to choose from, although most rolls were very similar to each other except for the accompanied toppings. I also thought they were very thoughtful in designing their menu. They have highlighted sections for salmon lover, Hamachi lover, scallop love and etc. Best of all, they have plenty of vegetarian options. In terms of food, much comparable with other Japanese restaurants. The quality of fish was fresh. I enjoyed their specialty starters. The Hamachi truffle was delicious. The rolls were decent in size and in taste. The mango roll was quite interesting, you would either love it or hate it. Lastly, I would skip the ramen. The noodle was a bit overcooked and the egg was hard boiled.

Yelp
Deluxe Chirashi bowl, well, two of them today..... Here's the thing, for San Carlos, this is a great Japanese restaurant, especially since I can't think of many that have fresh fish. Our Toro roll was just okay. 3 stars. I felt the mango was bitter, and the rice was a bit dry. So for the Deluxe chirashi bowl, it's the same thing with the rice I barely touched. They need to work on their rice game. Also, there was like no uni in my bowl or my friend's bowl. Uni is one of my favorites, so I expected more than like a penny shaped worth. The fish we had was fresh, and the staff was great about refilling our tea...therefore I'll give this place 3.5 rounded to 4 stars.

Yelp
Amazing food. Tried their hot vine(forgot the name) really interesting. They also had many options for vegetarians and vegans. The ambiance was amazing. I think this place can be great bringing your date, family, office crew and others. The staff were very friendly as well. We ordered the Mango secret roll, big lotus roll, veggie gyoza, and veggie tempura. My friends ordered Nigiri and Sashimi custom pieces.

Yelp
The super omakase was delicious and the uni shooter was sweet briny and refreshing. Will return.
