London’s Best Persian Food for Nowruz 2022 | Eater London

"Kish is another hidden Persian gem. Salad olivieh is a nostalgic dish, and eating it in a restaurant is often anti-climatic — but Kish ticks the box. It also serves dizi or ab goosht, which translates as meat broth. This potato and lamb stew is a staple in Iran and the epitome of the country’s soul food." - Amira Arasteh

Wow had a lovely experience here. The food was delicious, fresh and right. First time trying it a few days ago and loved it so I ordered a takeaway too. Will eat here again. The atmosphere was friendly, calm, warm welcoming. Was suggested a few things because wasn’t sure and was perfect choices from the waiter. Highly recommend visiting here.

A Delightful Dive into Persian Cuisine I had a fantastic experience exploring Persian/Iranian dishes—each plate full of flavor and tradition. One highlight was the unique dessert: a wonderfully icy, noodly treat that was both refreshing and intriguing. A special shoutout to our waitress, Tannaz, who elevated the experience with her kindness and impressive ability to cater to guests in multiple languages. Her warmth and hospitality truly made the evening memorable. Oh, and the clever self-cleaning toilet seat? A small but memorable touch that added to the overall charm.

I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in my lifetime. However, no restaurant has done it like Kish, from the food, to the service, to the vibes of the restaurant. Nothing fell below 5 stars. The service here was the best service I have seen, the staff were extremely warm, welcoming and active. I was very impressed with their hospitality. The food here tastes beautiful, full of flavours and decently priced. No other Persian restaurant beats this place, my go to Persian restaurant from now on.

Decided to try this place while we were staying at the Marriott across. Very busy place but the hostess accommodated us without reservations. Huge plate serving for our mains. The lamb and chicken Momtaz was delicious. My husband really liked his Lamb Shank Tahchin - never had it before but definitely worth ordering! We were so full we didn’t have room for dessert but we can’t wait to go back and try their breakfast too, for sure. Great service! I can understand why this place was very busy with locals.

The best in London , fresh and tasty food. The portion of the dishes are enough for two people. Friendly staff and very professional service. The restaurant has in and outside seating areas. I really advise you to try it.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch with the family at Kish in Kilburn. The food was fantastic; honestly, one of the best kebabs I’ve had in London! We did have to wait a bit longer than expected, but the staff were very kind and made up for it by offering an extra portion on the house, which was a lovely gesture. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with Persian music playing in the background; it really added to the experience. A great spot for a relaxed and tasty family meal!

Google
Just love restaurants that give the whole feel. The restaurant has a very inviting feel, slightly upper scale but not too high tonmake you feel out of place. The service was very quick and very attentive. Button at the table to call when ready to order, coffee refill, or assistance. The food, was amazing. Well prepared, beautifully laid out on the plate, and just absolutely delicious. The atmosphere, was a total 5 star. Very immersive and it did feel we were transported to a Person Island of Kish. A full recommend !

Not my first time at Kish in Maida Vale London always love the food and the lovely outdoor seating! This time we tried the Iranian pacha and it was incredibly tasty. Big thanks to Mohamed, the Egyptian waiter, for the great service! Highly recommend!

Yelp
10/10 recommend--we are visiting from the states and were looking for a good Persian restaurant. We are so lucky we found Kish on our last day. The food was amazing and incredibly aesthetic. We ordered the soltani, the mixed grill plate, the shirazi salad, and the makhloot ice cream. Not only was the food amazing, the service was incredible. Thank you to Tanaz and Kevin!

Yelp
So my brother took me to dinner there, he told me it's middle eastern/ Lebanese and he was totally wrong it was Persian food.now don't get me wrong I'm just not into that kind of food with the saffron rice and rose water this and that. But the lavash flat bread had sesame seeds and that was really good and the hummus was not bad either. But that was about it for me, the chips/french fries were ok also. Service was great and the desserts looked incredible. But that's about it for me, now my brother loved it. So that's why I gave it a 4 stars, the atmosphere was beautiful and the decor was also.

Yelp
So, I read a lot of the reviews on here and decided to take a chance on Kish. Like many others, it's right across the street from our hotel, the Marriott. There's a lot of 5 reviews for the food, and I agree that the food is definitely 5 stars. I didn't find it to be too expensive, but being from the USA, I've found most things to be cheaper in the UK. The entire is decorated very nicely, with what appears to be ancient stone carvings on the walls. The restaurant is family friendly too. They have outdoor seating with heaters. I ordered the hummus with a basket of naan. There was A LOT of naan! Like 12 pieces! When I order naan in the US, I get 4 pieces. My husband ordered the chicken soup. It was very good. We both got a glass of wine. They are generous with their portions. For dinner I ordered the chicken kabobs. My husband ordered the chicken and lamb kabobs. They came with saffron jasmine rice and a small salad. It's a lot of rice! I couldn't even eat half of it. Everything was very tasty. The only issue we had was that after the meal we never saw the waiter again. He never came back. We were never offered water, another glass of wine, dessert, coffee, the check, a to-go box, NOTHING. Eventually I asked another waitress if we could please get the check. I saw her go over to our waiter who was by the front, point to us and tell him. Neither he, nor her, nor anyone else ever brought us the check?!? I don't know what is going on with this place. I told my husband, "Maybe we will get his attention if we start to leave!" So we got up and went to the front. Still, nothing. So we had to ask the gentleman at the front if we could pay. He finally obliged us. Honestly, if you're going to purposefully ignore your customers for so long I would not be shocked if some people were to walk out on you. Not saying it's ok but you don't exactly act like getting paid is important to you. It seemed like a huge inconvenience for us to pay! We must've waited at least 20-25 minutes to pay the bill. For this reason alone I give service 3 stars. But before this everything seemed fine. Very strange. Altogether our bill was £58 including their 12.5% gratuity. I would recommend ordering to go so you don't have to deal with the staff since others have also complained about the staff being rude.

Yelp
Authentic Persian food definitely one of the best in the area. Worth the price and it is busy for good reason!

Yelp
A very nice place to eat from what I heard. Obviously it's closed because of covid but I saw desserts that I couldn't pass up on. I ended up getting the massive donut and it took me a couples hours to finish. So good though.

Yelp
Tasty food at great price. No pork obviously but halal sausage wasn't bad. I had eggs royale ( with smoked salmon ). Worthy of a try.

Yelp
Only came here because it was our first night in London and it was right across the hotel. For some reason I thought it would be an Irish restaurant but it was Persian which I'm familiar with. I just wanted a quick bite and was tired from traveling so I ordered honey waffles, Turkey bacon and hash browns. Luckily they were serving breakfast food all day and night. The server was nice she was patient with us as we really couldn't understand the menu. My food was good I mean you can't really mess it up i less you don't know how to cook lol I also got a green smoothie it's similar to a green island at tropical smoothie, so good!

Vin S.

Yelp
One of the best family restaurants in London. Friendly staff, great food, good ambiance and reasonable prices. Persian food is delicious.

Yelp
We found this little place while on a trip to London. Amazing food great service! We ordered a few different appetizers to try a variety and nothing disappointed.

Yelp
Great food and people! The fried eggplant app was unreal (I forget the name). Ate here a few times

Yelp
I ordered take out and by the time I got the food delivery, the kabobs were still hot off the grill. The stuffed grape leaves rocked. The bread was a bit disappointing and not worth ordering. Lamb and chicken kabobs were on point!

Yelp
KISH restaurant, 7-9 Kilburn, high Road, London NW6 5 SD I've tried Kish restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised to experience such a delicious and tasty foods they have. They are very friendly, professional and helpful which it made the whole experience much better. Overall I'll give them 5 out of 5 for food and 5 out of 5 for their service. They have a very large collection of Persian cuisine. If you are in London try them you will really like the experience.

Yelp
The owner was very unfriendly and the service was lousy and the food was subpar.Would not recommend and will not go back!

Yelp
Outstanding Persian cuisine. Flavorful aromatic rices. Tender grilled meats. Great desserts. Incredibly nice staff/servers. Great prices. Welcoming atmosphere. Outdoor dining. That's five stars.

Yelp
Fortunately this place is right across the street from the Marriott! Delicious baba ganoush and flatbread cooked in an oven in the front window? Lamb and chicken kebabs with rice was wonderful!

Yelp
Spectacular food. Wonderfully flavored. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is for delivery. This was some of the best Persian food I've ever had. Meat is perfectly juicy, and the portion sizes are huge (especially the rice). The must order items: Mirza ghasemi: smoked aubergine dip (perfect with the nan bread) Lamb koobideh: so tender and flavorful Jujeh kebab (marinated poussin): has some bones but has a deep game bird flavor. This is definitely a delivery staple for me!!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The staff there are very helpful and the food quality is excellent. Every time we're in London we visit Kish. We wish they could open a restaurant in LA we're we live!
google avatar

Yelp
We order Nowruz Sabzi Polo and we received 3 square boxes of mainly rice with two pieces of dried fish and a postage stamp size of Kooku. This was £72 and they forgot an additional dish we had ordered. Extremely disappointing and not worth the money.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this restaurant for dinner. One of my Iranian-English friends took a big group of us here for dinner. We got lots of dips with homemade sesame flat bread, we had a big grill with lamb, chicken (fantastic) and minced lamb (super juicy) we finished off with some black tea and Iranian sweets (super sweet, skip if you don't love sugar). The food was excellent, the place was warm and cosy with the bread oven right next to us. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
This place failed on so many levels. So I'm in the neighborhood for the night... I find this place on Yelp and decided to order only appetizers tonight. I order 3 appetizers, and my waitress comes back two separate times to tell me that an appetizer is not available. So I ended up with Naan, yogurt sauce, and a glass of white wine. ..."check please...". After waiting at the table for what seemed like twenty minutes, I finally asked for the bill. It came to £13.90. I gave £20.90. Easy math says I should have received £7 back. Nope, I got 6 and change ######???? Waitress seemed aloof and dismissive. I got my £7 back. And I won't be back... Cheerio..

Yelp
super expensive and low quality meat and food. Very disappointed. There are loads better Iranian restaurants about.

Yelp
Kish Was across the street from our Marriott . So happy to have found this place. Persian cuisine at its best. Local place.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
Kishi is good once to try out. There is alot happening inside a very small dining area. They have some seating outside to help seat people quicker. Staff are quick to get you in and out. No time for chit chat. Food was served hot. Great place for kabobs. Plates are very large. One third of your dish has basmati rice which is light and fluffy. The other two thirds of plate are your kabob and a salad of some sort. They have a special stone oven where they make naan. You can see them making it.

Donna M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Let the waiter guide your choices if you don't already have a favorite.

Yelp
This place is awesome ... we had the best lamb ever ... our waitress was so welcoming and accommodating... thanks Kish for excellent food and great vacation kickoff.

Yelp
After moving to my new area, was quite unhappy about moving from my previous Persian fav 'Alounak' (gosh I still do miss this place). But Kish is a great place too. The sesame naan bread is brill and all their dips ie hummus, masto-khiar are great too. Please be careful since the portions are massive and it's quite misleading on how little food can fill you up. Therefore, order wisely. Have also ordered from this place for home delivery and have always loved it ok. Love the food and highly recommend this place for all Persian food lovers.

Christina K.

Yelp
Lovely lovely staff. Food was very traditional Persian and prices very reasonable for London. Good value for the money, highly recommend

Shaida K.

The quality of the food is second to none in London for Persian cuisine. The staffs are very polite and friendly.whenever someone asks me where they can try Persian food I always recommend the Kish restaurant and they never let me down! I want to thank Milad specially for last night. We really enjoyed our night.our guest from Singapore loved the food .

Yelp
Freshly made Persian bread in a Tanoor! Yummy!!! Great food (best kabob in the world), great service ! Will defiantly be back. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Saeed K.

Yelp
Since we were staying across at the Marriott we were debating whether to try Kish or other Middle Eastern restaurants on Kilburn. Anyway we were too tired to go anywhere so we went there. It was a pleasant surprise. It is a very nice quaint restaurant and the food was delicious. I live in Chicago and have tried a lot of Persian restaurants all over USA. I will rank Kish as one of the very best Persian restaurants. Ali took excellent care of us and that made the whole experience even better. I will strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Persian food. We will go back there again tomorrow before heading back home. Thank you Ali for looking after us.

Yelp
One of the best Iranian authentic food Their grills are fresh and succulent The grilled chicken pieces is the best I have ever had in an Iranian cuisine It's a definition hunger killer

Yelp
I would have given this place a 5 star because of the food, but the dishonesty of the waitress changed everything... The food was really good! The taste was great , and seemed to be of a high quality as well. I was very happy with the portion of the plates as well (I like big portions), and I really enjoyed the freshly baked lavash bread which is made right moments before it's served. The service was good as well, but the problem occurred at the very end of the visit when we were trying to figure out the bill. This place charges a 12.5% "service charge" which now I know is considered as tip. Not being from this country, we were not familiar with the tipping costumes and tax policies, so we asked the waitress weather the 12.5% service charge was considered the tip or tax. Interestingly enough, the waitress looked us in the eye and with a supposed face, told us that it was just for the tax (in this country, tax is added in the price of the item and not added on the bill). We felt obligated to tip her again, and later we found out that the 12.5% is actually considered the tip and there is no need to tip at all unless one chooses to. This is just a review for the business owners of this place, to let them know that their honesty greatly matters in the satisfaction of their customers!

Yelp
Visiting from U.S and we were looking for Persian food. So happy we found Kish Restaurant. Hands down the most amazing Persian food. So fresh and so authentic. Some people in our group had the koobideh kabob and it was the most amazing and delicious thing ever. I personally had the vegetarian ghormeh sabzi. It was to die for. Sooo good. They also have really pretty and cool green tea drinks. Our waiter (Meysam) was great and service was great too. Next time we come back to London Kish Restaurant will be our first stop!

Yelp
Nice small restaurant with great service. Enjoyed the grilled chick lamb. They made fresh bread off the clave and great ice cream.
google avatar

Joshua J.

Yelp
I've only ever had delivery but hot damn this is the best persian in town. I have tried everywhere - Colbeh, Mohsen, and all these other places I dont remember the names of because they're in an axis power language which i dont speak, but Kish is waaaaay better than the lot of them. Their baghali polo is as good as my own (or very likely better), their chicken is tender and juicy, as are all the lamb dishes, though they are likely better eat in than delivered. Fuck, I think I'll order Kish for supper tonight (yes, this is a review I've revisited after receiving innumerable emails from Yelp that I have reviews to complete).
google avatar

Saju J.

Yelp
Visiting again, there are times when you want the Indian without the spice. Reminded of home while drinking doogh
google avatar

Khash K.

Yelp
Visiting from Los angles decided to try kish one of the better restaurants when it comes to Persian food. The food was prepared well and the portions are big, but appetizer (starters) portions are extremely small not enough for even one person. Ghemah is Good the barg was my favorite dish, the kobedeh is lamb and lame, not big fan.The service is poor and disappointing and the knowledge of serving staff is poor and so is the communications skills and describing the different dishes. And in a city with some of the best restaurants I will not be paying a visit back to kish.the prices are inexpensive and they do add a service charge.
google avatar

Mercedeh N.

Yelp
Amazing persian food. We came on a very busy night. However they were very accommodating and kind. They help set up a table outside for us very quickly. The service was excellent. I was quite surprised by how efficient and friendly all the staff were considering how busy they were. We will defiantly be coming back for the great food and fabulous service!!!!
google avatar

Leila M.

Yelp
Best Persian food I've had in London so far! The bread is made on premises the way it is in Iran, so that's always a bonus! You can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The portions are huge! I recommend getting different plates and sharing with friends, or doing the mix grill. Starters are fabulous, my favorites are salad olivieh (chicken salad), kashk bademjan (aubergine purée), and mast moosir (yogurt with shallots). The mirza ghasemi is nice too (smoked Aubergine with egg). The tachin is nice too and huge portion. You can also order tadig with gheymeh on it which is nice (the crispy rice with split pea stew). My husband loves the barg kabab (marinated beef). Happy eating!
google avatar

Laurie N.

Yelp
I love Persian food and enjoy eating it when I travel or at home. Kish was a big disappointment. The dish that I ordered (kibbeh)was fatty and tasted bad and I couldn't eat it. I told the waiter the problem and he told me he could pack the kibbeh up and I could order something else but had to pay for both. I suggest that you don't frequent this restaurant. Some of the food is ok but the service was so horrific. Stay away.
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Nice staff. Great food. We had a huge kebab platter to share; was more than enough food for the four of us. We also got a couple tasty apps and some of the tandoori bread (love it; made fresh in the front of the restaurant). We also got a pitcher of Ayran (yummy sour/salty yogurt drink). Tip: if you want wine, you may want to bring your own bottle; they have a very small selection but other folks had brought their own. This place is family/kid friendly (including late at night).
google avatar

Eric A.

Yelp
Excellent Persian food. And take it from a Persian that grew up in Tehrangeles (Los Angeles, with arguably some of the best Persian food outside Iran in the world). Standout dish - khoreshte karafs (get it with tah-dig - crispy rice - as a starter) suggestion from the waitress and FANTASTIC like home made Soltani was great too, as was the kashke-bademjan and mast o moosir Also this place has fantastic variety. Even the Persian restaurants in LA don't have halim (more of a breakfast dish - sort of like oatmeal with turkey meat - sounds weird but really good and Persians often put cinnamon on it just like oatmeal), but they do. Mariam is also the best waitress with fantastic customer service. Great smile and gives you great recommendations. By the way - I am adding more to this review because we went a 2nd time during our 1 week trip. It will be the first restaurant I go to next time I come to London.
