The Best Restaurants in Northern Vermont - Eater Montreal

"Produce is the muse and the star at this charming State Street restaurant in Vermont’s capital city of Montpelier. But don’t be swayed by chef Crystal Madiera’s focus on plants: She proves that local and sustainable meat and fish have a place on the table as well, with dishes like venison dumplings with ginger, soy, and cranberry balsamic. Madiera’s famous savoury bread pudding is available soaked in both beef or vegetable bone broth, and is always oozing with Vermont cheeses." - Heather Platt

Just delightful. Creative and surprising small plates, perfect focused menu, one of the best steaks we’ve had in ages. Great cocktails and a couple memorable wines. Such a small intimate space but they make the best of it. We really weren’t expecting this but it was a meal we’ll remember for a long time!

My wife and I ate here this past weekend and were very impressed. We're vegetarian and lots of options to choose from. The cocktails were creative a delicious and each part of the meal was cooked to perfection. It was also clear that everything was made from scratch, from the pasta dough on the agnilotti to the chocolate, whip cream and crawl in the truffle pot. Highly recommend!

Fresh, locally sourced ingredients prepared with great culinary skill/attention to detail - the very best place to eat a sophisticated meal in Montpelier. The staff is attentive, the ambiance reminiscent of a cafe in Copenhagen, and you will not be disappointed by the dishes - large or small. Brunch can be busy... get a seat at the bar and enjoy.

Great food with a Portuguese twist. We had brunch. Service was excellent we are traveling through but would definitely go again!

There are places that are blah and there are places that are good... KISMET isn’t either of these!! I was here 3 weeks ago and haven’t been able to get this place off my mind. From the food and drinks to the service, it was beyond excellent. If I lived close I would be a regular here. Pictured is the Smoke on the Water 🍸, Bread Pudding, and Seared Beef.

This place is Organic. Literally. Right from the beer to the food ingredients. Everything has been so meticulously taken care of here - the decor, the courteousness of the staff, the food. A visit to Montpelier is incomplete without a visit to Kismet.

Absolutely superb food. The prices may seem high but you are guaranteed a meal you won't soon forget, I recommend getting the Canadian truck stop!
