"A hidden gem in the ground floor of a 1930s house on Northeast Ainsworth, KISS Coffee — short for “keep it sweet and simple” — has become a magnet gathering place for Concordians since opening in 2019. The coffee brewed from Seven Virtues beans is solid, but perhaps the greater draw is the stellar food menu, with hearty all-day breakfast and lunch favorites like white cheddar bruschetta, burritos with sausage or mushroom gravy, and buttery house-made scones." - Nathan Williams

When you see locals and neighbors stopping by for food & coffee, that's always a good sign. Family owned, no fuss. Just good food, friendly owners working hard, no BS. Go for the Bagel Breakfast Sandwich, pick your favorite cheese and add some ham. You can order online and pick it up on your way to work. Pet friendly with a fresh bowl of water (outdoor covered sitting area). Breakfast all day, lunch all day. Pastries, homemade syrups, etc. We need more small businesses like Kiss. Stop by and try it. We did it for two days.

Google
This place is truly such a gem. Great food, great coffee, and the nicest people who own it and work there. I have been so many times so I thought it was about time I gave it some love back and left a review. Also, I feel comfortable saying they have the best breakfast burrito I've ever had.

Google
2024 update. Go get this magical breakfast. Or a lunch treat called harvest toast. The fall. It's recommended to add bacon for salty crunch. That is the most delicious thing! This is my local coffee shop, and I absolutely love this place!! I suffer from a bit of social anxiety, and this place is just so welcoming and tasty and so close to my house. I love pushing myself to go out to it .....And it's a nice little walk! Don't underestimate their food and drinks either! The food is so yummy and satisfying and feels good because it's made from high quality and food fresh ingredients. You can taste it and feel it and see it. The people that work there and the atmosphere is just really inviting and calming and fun. It feels like just your neighborhood coffee shop. The way it should be. It's also nestled underneath a small apartment courtyard? that has this beautiful garden next to it (very pretty to look at), and it's all a small two story building with the coffee shop, being in the bottom story on street level.... in the parking space out front, they've added a deck with extra seating. Probably because they're succeeding so well. There is indoor seating as well. That is very casual. Go, go, go get to meets and have a good time. I promise to add some better photos to this post

Google
The breakfast sandwich was amazing - the bagel was soft and fresh, great spot! I had the cold brew and it was perfect with the bagel

Google
KISS Coffee is such a lovely little shop with delicious food and beverages! They have a great little setup by the street as well with some outdoor seating. My companion and I ordered ice lattes with the house made honey date syrup (yum) and a couple of the bagel sandwiches. I love how they make their syrups in house and food to order. Everything was delicious and the shop owners & workers here are so kind. Highly recommended!

Google
This is a gorgeous local shop. The servers are kind and generous. I got the breakfast burrito which was fantastic. The ingredients are locally made. I also got a delicious maple bourbon mocha which was equally delicious. It's POC owned too! Come by and support the local community!

Google
Love this spot in my neighborhood! The staff is so nice and chill. I love treating myself to a latte with one of their syrups (cardamom and cinnamon is amazing) and their food is so good! My breakfast burrito was so perfectly wrapped, stuffed and flavorful! (It had the perfect amount of garlic) omg so tasty! 😍

Google
This place was a real surprise. The cappuccinos were excellent, but it was the food that was the real star here. It wasn't your typical coffeehouse breakfast sandwich. This was chef quality goodness. I recommend the BLT. Delectable sautéed tomatoes, peppered bacon with a hint of sweetness, surrounded by a buttery, crisped to perfection toast. Even the greens were fresh and flavorful. Absolutely delicious!!

Breana L.

Yelp
Cute little cafe with drinks and good selection of sandwiches! There was a good amount of both indoors and outdoors seating

Deep D.

Yelp
Rating updated after the owners' kind and professional response. Much appreciated, Trae and Sarah Got a mocha to go that turned out to be all sugar and milk, no taste of espresso or mocha and was lukewarm. Couldn't finish it, it was so sugary. Later found out they had overcharged my card!

Michelle B.

Yelp
Yummy coffee & muffin, great service. Will return when I'm next in the neighborhood- lovely spot.

Ken S.

Yelp
Delicious burritos. Packed full with tasty scrambled eggs and hunks of soft potato delicately covered with not spicy sausage gravy broth. Extremely filling. A nice cup of Java with half and half and u are all set. A neighborhood treasure. Very friendly place. Busy, but not crowded. Go there as often as you can. Trying to post this how much do I have to say geez Yelp should pay for extra long reviews lol.

Lesley W.

Yelp
The service was excellent. BLT panini was so delicious. Cappuccino perfect. Location perfect. Decor is delightful.

Debbie B.

Yelp
Sweet shop with outdoor seating. Great coffee and chai. I got the Avo toast. So fresh and tasty with plenty of avocado, shredded carrots, and yummy sprouts on a rustic French toasted bread. Will definitely visit here again. Bonus: cross the street and visit the neighborhood chickens.

Debbie R.

Yelp
Absolutely enjoy meeting my knitting friends here about once a week. The staff are friendly and helpful and they make a tasty mocha. We wish there was WiFi but that doesn't keep us away.

Taylor B.

Yelp
This is a super nondescript coffee shop with great vibes and super nice folks running it. Their breakfast burrito is great, and the coffee is excellent. This is such a good neighborhood coffee shop.

Yelp
cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute! Kiss Coffee is just as adorable as it sounds. Right off 30th and Ainsworth, it's in a fairly residential area and as such it feels perfectly homey. Right now ( Thanks, COVID) they serve directly from a makeshift counter at their front door, but honestly I loved the setup. With all of the lush foliage spilling over the rooftop, it was charming AF, like a cute little coffee cottage. I adored it. Most importantly, our coffees were great. Yes, we just got two iced coffees, but they really hit the spot and had the perfect level of acidity. I drink a LOT of coffee and am probably slowly giving myself an ulcer, but this was smooth and easy drinking and I loved it. If you want to drink something a bit more adventurous, they have you covered. They serve a good number of seasonal and handmade syrups and have you covered for all of your more fancy coffee drink needs. When we went, we learned that they were participating in some sort of "pay it forward" coffee exchange. That definitely goes in line with the good vibes I got off of this shop and the owners. Really, I just felt so good at Kiss Coffee, and I look forward to returning.

Yelp
This was my second time at this lovely little coffee shop. The first time I had the biscuits and mushroom gravy. The side of home fries were perfectly cooked. This time I tried the breakfast burrito. Flavor was great however the potatoes were undercooked and somewhat hard. This is what drops my rating to 4 stars instead of 5. Service was a 5 last time and this time as well. Just give those potatoes a touch more cooking time, please.

Yelp
A very sweet, homey little mom-and-pop operation located in the middle of a sleepy neighborhood. The building is shared with an art gallery that I look forward to checking out once quarantine is over. I'm pretty sure I saw it written somewhere that their name "KISS" was supposed to stand for something like "Keep It Sweet and Simple", and I couldn't think of a better way to describe the place. The word "simple" might have a negative connotation to some, but certainly not to me. As an artist, I believe that there is always intricacy to be found in simplicity, and this place is no exception. I really hope this doesn't come off as a backhanded compliment, because it is legitimately a huge plus for me. They aren't trying to be super over-the-top, pretentious, and "artisanal" like a lot of the other coffee shops you see in Portland, and there's something sincere about that that resonated with me and made me come back. It's not that their coffee isn't made from quality ingredients, because it most certainly was (the coffee was amazing, actually) -- I just appreciated that the place didn't seem to "put on airs" like a lot of other places. It's just a good, honest, cute little coffee shop with quality coffee and a great atmosphere. (Also their breakfast sandwiches are really good)

G. S.

Yelp
I don't want to sound like a hipster but I had the best avocado toast here. Like seriously, it's not magic to smear avocado on bread but the way they do it here hit the spot. And their latte was delicious.

Yelp
We love that Kiss Coffee is in the neighborhood. Their online system is super handy for ordering up a couple of their delicious bagel sandwiches and coffee to go, which are always ready at the suggested time. Also, they're the friendliest owners/staff which makes our coffee jaunts all the more worthwhile/fun.

Seth H.

Yelp
A lesser known gem of a coffee shop. Amazing bagel breakfast sandwiches for under $6. Not to mention the great coffee. Next time your craving a great breakfast under budget, I recommend trying this place. A+

Megan R.

Yelp
I had a mediocre latte from this establishment a few weeks ago, which typically I would rank 3 stars. Latte was too milky and could not even taste a hint of espresso. They did have a delicious sandwhich my wife wanted to get the other day. The one star off is because we wanted to order the sandwich and pick it up. When we realized there's no menu online and no phone anywhere. Impossible to place an order or call. I don't know how they're surviving in COVID.

Charlotte L.

Yelp
Kiss is the best! They have delicious lattes. Recently I've also been enjoying the chai latte with oat milk. I love stopping by for breakfast and lunch too. My partner likes to get the PDX panini which is a delicious portabella veggie sandwich. I like the breakfast sandwiches and they always make them to order, my fave is the egg, avocado, white cheddar cheese, tomato and sometimes bacon on a cheese bagel. The cafe itself is absolutely adorable!

Foodie V.

Yelp
Great little tucked away coffee shop. Ordered a cappuccino and it was very good. Friendly folks and very affordable as well. Look forward to coming back soon and do all I can to support small biz such as Kiss.

Verum U.

Yelp
The best breakfast sandwiches in Portland and much more. Their sandwiches are the perfect texture (never too moist, never too dry) and they combine just the right amount of flavorful accouterments! Their micro-foam is like the clouds of the heavens...if you want to feel pampered and satisfied go to Kisscoffeepdx every time!

Tara W.

Yelp
Love that they make syrups in house - quaint little shop with friendly staff. Thanks for being open guys!

Leslie D.

Yelp
Kiss Coffee is the only spot I go to for my coffee drinks. The owner, Trey, is so sweet and kind! I love any adorable latte Trey makes and my husband is obsessed with the chai that has house made cardamom/cinnamon syrup. Love, love, love this tiny gem in NE Portland!

Jessica O.

Yelp
The best hazelnut latte I've ever had and my friend said the bagel breakfast was one of the best. Highly recommended!

Mashall S.

Yelp
Love my neighborhood coffee shops and was excited to try this one out! It is in such a cute spot, sandwiched between houses and an art gallery! The coffee is fantastic, I got a cinnamon and cardamom coffee with oat milk! Loved it, reminded me of an Indian chia! My partner got a cafe au lait and it was delicious too! They even ask him how much milk he wanted and asked him when to stop. Things like that are so simple and give people a coffee truly custom to them and i just want to acknowledge how customer centered they are. We split a bagel sandwich, YUMMMM! And they cut it and wrapped each for us in little half blankets. Ok I know. These aren't things to get excited about but I loved how we felt cared and thought about and that even says more to it being a two person operation the day we went. This place has hired some great people and I hope they treat their employees better we were treated! Will definitely be back, hopefully with more friends!

Kristen C.

Yelp
Stopped here for coffee and breakfast on our last morning in Portland! Super friendly service, perfect neighborhood vibe and delicious avocado toast and biscuits and gravy! Definitely worth a visit!

Clarissa M.

Yelp
Had a great latte today at Kiss coffee! The milk was steamed to the perfect temperature and the coffee beans from seven virtues had a mellow and light taste. I was hoping for a pastry, but they were close to sold out by the time I got there, which was around noon. Snooze you lose! I live walking distance so I will certainly be back.

Jeanne D.

Yelp
Caramel mocha is so yummy! Not overly sweet. Espresso was well made. Cute as a button cafe. Will be back!

Cher B.

Yelp
We were looking for any random coffee place because we needed, well, a coffee. So glad we stumbled onto this place. Great service, amazing pastries and really tasty coffee. I had no idea what I wanted and, after telling him what my taste preferences were, he managed to whip me up this vanilla/cinnamon/cardamom latte that is to die for. My husband got a mocha breve' and he said it was really good, too.

B P.

Yelp
Shop owners Trae and Sarah do a great job serving delicious coffee and many tasty homemade treats. They love what they do, and it shows. Plus, they have adopted to the Covid restrictions easily and professionally, making it simple for people to get their coffee quickly, with no hassles. I highly recommend.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
Coffee here is BOMB and the absolute nicest people own/run this spot. Their sandwiches are hella yummy too and I would legit come here everyday if I could!

Colleen H.

Yelp
A weekend of imbibing in libation and decadent comfort food can leave one craving the routine of everyday life. We left our air b&b before checkout and drove the streets of Alberta with nothing but a longing for polite conversation and caffeinated beverage created with love. Ainsworth Street, for anyone not from the area is a dreamy canopy of gorgeously crafted homes, beneath outstretched arms of trees, and there in the distance, lay Kiss Coffee. It was a place I could have enjoyed for hours, reading a good book as the breeze gently swayed the ends of my hair. Alas, when asked what his favorite drink was, the owner mentioned he was drinking a cardemom vanilla late, to which myself and my counterpart obliged. Not only was it delicious, but conversation flowed with ease, and was everything my heart was longing for. I look forward to visiting again on my next visit. Thank you for existing!!

Alexis B.

Yelp
Kiss Coffee is such a wonderful place! I personally loved their cardamom-cinnamon syrup! It's out of this world! Such a great place, and I highly recommend!

Blake L.

Yelp
This is a fantastic place. Great coffee and food. Seriously, probably one of the best scones I've ever had. I was going to share it with my partner when I got home, but it didn't last that long. And the owners are super friendly. If you want someone to ask how you are doing and really mean it, come here. I'm so glad this place is part of my community!

Scott D.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop. Even through COVID, with everyone distancing, there's such a sense of community. I love watching Sarah and Trae talking with customers while I wait, and I love chatting with them myself. Couldn't find two more genuine people. The oat milk latte is my go-to, and it's always consistent. I've only tried a couple scones - the pear & blue cheese is so good! Just a great all-around experience. I drive by about 5 other coffee shops to get to this one from home because going to Kiss feels more like visiting friends than simply grabbing a cup of coffee.

Hal P.

Yelp
This coffee place is on a quiet street in Portland. The owner, Trey, is very helpful and cares about his coffee.

Sarah C.

Yelp
So glad to have found this cute little coffee shop! The outside is so peaceful with plants and vines covering the store; kind of feels like ordering a coffee in a garden. The coffee is great, much better than what you'd get at a chain, and they have a good variety of syrups to liven it up if you're into that. I highly recommend the cinnamon cardamom syrup, but the just plain old coffee is delicious as well. I drive 15 minutes from my home just to get here when I have plenty of other shops closer to me. It's THAT good. The service is always friendly; it feels like chatting with a friend. Definitely don't skip out on this place!

Sara F.

Yelp
Little coffee shop on Ainsworth. Pleasant barista. Great latte! Close to Alberta Park and Ferndale Park. Stop by while walking your pooches.

Ali J.

Yelp
Sweet neighborhood coffee shop. Their iced lattes made with homemade syrups and locally roasted coffee are delicious. The pleasant outdoor seating and friendly service make this a real winner!

Kenneth A.

Yelp
The new business owners did a nice job of transforming the space. They use 7 Virtues roasters for their beans and make all of their syrups in house. My mocha was delicious! Friendly service too rather than indifference which seems to be the vibe at the other local coffee places. Absolutely a fantastic addition to the neighborhood!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Such a cute little coffee shop! Great addition to the neighborhood. Nice selection of grab and go snacks & pastries.

Nicole R.

Yelp
Super cute store front and delicious chai! I wish they had more vegan baked goods, but the pricing was fair and the alternative milk and syrup choices were solid. I appriciate their set up for counter ordering due to the pandemic, hands free complete with hand sani. I will be back.

Sandy B.

Yelp
What a great hidden gem in our neighborhood. Excellent coffee and exceptional friendly service. A+
