Portland Cookware Shop Kitchen Culture Fully Opens in Foster-Powell - Eater Portland

"Kitchen Culture, a new kitchenware shop on Southeast Foster Road, will host its grand opening celebration tomorrow, Saturday, January 21. The shop, which opened in late November, sells a selection of new and used cookware, dinnerware, cookbooks, and more, and offers consignment. It’s also a hub for food education, offering food preservation classes via Lucky Larder on topics such as basic vegetable fermentation, water bath canning, and more. Kitchen Culture’s grand opening will run from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and feature live music, snacks, beverages, activities, and a store-wide sale of 10 percent off everything, including classes." - Janey Wong

What?! This place is a treasure trove! An excellent selection of quality kitchenware at affordable prices. Every brand you've coveted, every gadget you've eyed, every specialty knife you've wanted is probably in there. Vintage, still-packaged, and gently-used, in there. Cookbooks. Linens. Glassware. In there! Having guests? No problem. Moving? No problem. Throwing a theme party? No flipping problem! Just saying, it's excellent.

We visited during the Kitchen Culture official opening, though they've been open unofficially for a while. This is a perfect example of the renaissance that's taking place on Foster. New businesses have long been rumored (think decades), and this is solid evidence that the neighborhood is gaining momentum. The products on display are a mixture of new and vintage - new bakeware and accessories, serving pieces that are older than most of the customers, a small collection of well curated cookbooks, varied glassware for the cocktail set, plus new and refurbished cast iron all make for a very pleasant browsing experience. Prices look reasonable across the board. This business reminds of Foster Outdoor, just a few blocks away. Classic buildings are now in use for businesses that will serve the neighborhood, while being well enough stocked to inspire customers to visit from all over the city.

I LOVE this store!!!!! Such an amazing concept. and the prices are RIGHT! Good mix of new and used, and everything I saw was in good shape. They do classes too, so cool! I enjoyed talking to the person working yesterday, they were very helpful. I will definitely be checking this store before I go to goodwill or buy new, so good!

Professional-grade knives at reasonable prices, the carbon steel chef's knife holds an edge for months. Staff sharpens purchases for free forever. Their Japanese whetstone demo changed my knife care game.

Cute kitchen & cookware shop on SE Foster Road! Cookbooks, cutlery, cast iron, coffee mugs, etc. Owners are really nice and they’re responsive on socials if you have any questions. EDIT: they’ve now started cooking classes!! Check out their website for dates and details.

Went in looking for a toaster... but left with a baking sheet($9.25), cooling rack($14), and a used platter($11.50). 🤣 This place has some consignment dishes, canning pots and tools, and kitchenware, as well as some new pots and pans, bakeware and utensils. Prices were very reasonable, and items were clean, and in good condition. They also offer a range of classes here, she said they are posted on their website.

I found this gem today and I'm so glad I now know about it! Definitely check this spot out before shopping online if you are looking for something kitchen-specific (because they probably have it!!)

Nice shop with good quality, well-priced items. I’ve gotten a few unique dishes here that I really enjoy. It’s fun to come every month or so to see what new items have come in.

Yelp
Kitchen Culture is a cute little kitchenware store with a lot of great finds and a variety of cooking classes. I've always wanted to take a knife skills class and was so excited to find out they offered the Essential Knife Skills class! Our instructor Katie was very engaging, entertaining and informative. For the session I was in, we were provided all the ingredients to make our own pineapple mango salsa. Katie demoed each ingredient and had us follow afterward. Throughout the class, she gave us tips and tricks on how to improve our technique to be a more efficient home cook. At the end of the class, she went over the different types of kitchen knives, knife honing and sharpening. I would definitely recommend checking out the other classes they offer, or just to check out the kitchen gadgets.

Yelp
What a cool business. Great products (including used!). Friendly service. I'd really like to check out their classes sometime (I love cooking classes!). And, while scoping out their classes, I saw that they do a regular community cooking event to make meals for a local emergency shelter for families (Lilac Meadows, on Powell).

Yelp
What a fine place. A mix of quality new and used cookware, tools, appliances, cookbooks--if it's in most kitchens there's some in the store. Some fun glasses and tableware. We got a great deal on a used kitchenaid stand mixer. And the woman running the show is very helpful.

Yelp
Excellent selection of great items that can form the backbone of your kitchen. Of particular note is the great selection of consignment/used items. Lots of great high quality finds that really make you want to stop in regularly to see what's new. Additionally they have great classes and a wonderful space for them.

Yelp
Fantastic place that has seriously impressive and personal service. Looking for an interesting cookbook? They got it. Looking for high end kitchen knives? They got them. looking for a place to learn about the joys of cooking overall? This is that place.

Yelp
This is a neighborhood gem. It is welcoming, spotless and filled with wonderful used and new cooking and kitchen tools. Everything from spoons to slow cookers, cookbooks to dinnerware. New stock appears all the time.

Yelp
I love this store, it's like shopping at kitchen kaboodle only way more interesting stock and way better prices. It is cute and immaculate it has a mix of new and high quality used items. It's a great place to shop for a gift for your foodie friend, you will enjoy the space and the owner is usually there and super helpful! This is my favorite kind of store, you can get something high-end, and you can also get a deal. Foster is a nice hotbed for this kind of thing, you might want to check out the rest of the area, Foster Outdoors is similar for outdoor goods, amazing store! Good food and drink nearby, a good destination for a half day shopping trip.
