Yelp
First time at kitchen door was honestly very disappointing. We drove about an hour and a half to try this spot since it had such good reviews and the presentation looked great in photos with a variety of different foods. When we first walked in, the service was fine. We were greeted by the hostess and were quickly sat at our table. Our waters were constantly being refilled and they took our order fast and it wasn't busy so they were able to check on us a good amount. The reason for the two stars was mainly because of the food and the pricing.
Don't ask for any substitutions or sides of any sauces. We weren't informed at all that we'd be charged that much extra for little things. The waitress made it sound like for the pizza we could add whatever we'd like and just customize it ourselves but didn't mention extra pricing. I expected a small charge for adding chicken but was surprised when it was an additional $9 on top of an already $25 small pizza that came with no meat. I was also charged for ranch that tasted like and was the consistency of water and milk with some herbs.
We ordered a pepperoni pizza, their special of the day which was the summer pizza (with substitutions), pad thai, banh mi, buffalo chicken wings, and caesar salad.
Buffalo chicken wings: 2/10
Let's start by saying the first batch was extremely undercooked. Not just pink but literally bloody... I was so disgusted I forgot to even take a picture before flagging down our waitress to tell her. Our waitress quickly returned it to the kitchen and had them fry us up a new batch. No apology or anything, just told us to put our wings on the plate so she could tell the kitchen. When the new batch came out the flavor was extremely mediocre. The blue cheese dipping was probably the best thing on the plate.
Pad Thai: 3/10
Don't expect it to taste even close to a regular pad thai. For starters there's little to no color to it so we were already pretty concerned. The tofu was tasty but everything else tasted like noodles drained in plain fish sauce with minimal other flavors. The presentation was nice but flavor was extremely lacking. The noodles tasted like they came straight from a package without being washed.
Banh Mi: 7/10
Banh mi was one of the more okay items on the menu. Flavor was alright, nothing special. The fries were pretty good at least!
Summer Pizza: 6/10
I can't give the most accurate review considering I made substitutions to this pizza such as asking for no tomato or onions and adding chicken. This was their daily special and It was a wood fire pizza with creamy pesto sauced topped with cheese, garlic oil, and grilled chicken. As for presentation I was surprised seeing these big chunks of chicken on the pizza. Wasn't too big of a deal I just took it off the pizza and cut it smaller myself then put it back on. Taste was alright, the pesto wasn't strong at all and it definitely could've used much more garlic. Definitely not the worst pesto pizza though. The crust was tasty at least!
Pepperoni Pizza: 7/10
Definitely a decent wood fire pepperoni pizza. The only issue was that it was very salty. If there was less salt this would definitely be something we'd order again.
Caesar salad: 8/10
This was a pretty solid caesar salad. The dressing was light, not too creamy. 100% could've used more dressing for sure but it tasted good. The croutons were great. Honestly could've eaten a small bowl of just that alone.
The ranch: 0/10
I know it's crazy to make a review on ranch but this was just so interesting tasting. It was so watery and tasted like water and milk mixed with some herbs but no seasonings. Don't order it save yourself the dollar LOL.
Overall the service was alright, the food was okay, and the pricing was overpriced for the quality of food you get. We payed close to $200 for just these items mentioned and 2 non alcoholic beverages.
