Kitchen & Kocktails By Kevin Kelley - Review - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Kitchen & Kocktails has locations inD.C.,Atlanta, Dallas,Chicago, and now on Broad Street, right here at home. It’s servingsoul foodand over-the-top drinks, like a marshmallow toasted espresso martini and a mimosa tower for brunch. When it comes to the food, you can expect hot honey-fried chicken, southern fried catfish, shrimp and grits, and lots of sides." - Candis R. McLean

Beautiful from the moment you step inside! Atmosphere is great! Live DJ this Saturday I visited! Great service by Kenny! Attentive and knowledgeable! Drinks were great! Lobster bites were delish with sauce with a kick! Classic chicken with waffles were cooked to perfection! Dont know why some reviews were negative, but I have already booked for next date nite!

Omg this place is AMAZING. I was honestly so stunned because sometimes when the place just looks pretty the food isn’t the best but I was WRONG. The lamb chops? DIVINE- top 5 ever in my life. Chicken and waffles was fabulous and perfectly seasoned. The drinks were also awesome we had the gold fashioned (potent and delish) and then the blackberry margaritas (sweet but if you like that then this is for you). I’m really impressed and wanna come back here next time I visit Philly. Our server was Ayesha and she was amazing at giving us recs and fantastic service!!

Brought the new year in at this establishment. Phenomenal experience! The service was top tier, the food was a 10/10, great drinks and the music/overall vibe was amazing! I believe my server’s name was “Jaide”. She took really good care of us, and made sure we lacked nothing during our time there. The general manager even checked on us throughout the night to be sure that we were enjoying ourselves. Just to share what I had… fried lobster bites, grilled oysters, fried catfish, Cajun pasta with fried crab, jerk lamb chops with collard greens and yams. The greens and yams taste like home! NO CANNED PRODUCTS. I will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend.

I came to Kitchen & Kocktails to celebrate my birthday with a party of 8, and everything was absolutely AMAZING! The food was delicious everyone at the table ordered something different, and not a single person was disappointed. Every plate was a hit! Our server Alexis was so pleasant, friendly, and attentive. She made sure we were taken care of all night and added to the great vibe. The manager Robert was right behind her when needed, as this was a pretty big section with big parties. Kenny, her trainee, was on his third day and already a natural, he was hilarious and learning the ropes fast. His energy had us laughing all night! The drinks were on point too, well made and flavorful. Yes, they are pricey, but to me worth it. Overall, the service, food, and atmosphere made my birthday night one to remember. I’ll definitely be back and recommending this place for people to try for themselves.

My first experience was well. While we waited for our seats in the lobby there was a man walking around with free shots for everyone of their signature drink. We purchased a bottle of it at our table when we sat. I enjoyed my food and the atmosphere was amazing! I love eating at places that allow you to enjoy the music. I asked if they have happy hour which the said starts Monday. I look forward to coming back with my girls for happy hour. Nicki was my waitress and she was very attentive when I come back I’ll be looking for her.

My experience was amazing! Highly recommend. Good music. Good food. Met song amazing people at the bar. My server, Damirra, really took care of me. She was attentive. Made great recommendations and was super helpful. I will definitely be back and visit other locations.

Let me tell you!!!! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. We began with "kocktails", I had the Strawberry Jalepeño Margarita and my hubby had the D'ussé Peach frozen drink (both good and strong). For our starter, we went with the Appetizer Trio which included lambchops, deviled eggs topped with shrimp, and a crab cake. For our entrées, my hubby had the Catfish and Grits and I partook in the Stuffed Salmon over Dirty Rice. We also ordered a side of yams and black eyed peas. Each dish was well seasoned and simply tasty! We had stellar service provided by David. K+K did not miss! I highly recommend!!! P.S. In addition, we ordered the banana pudding to go.....

Went with a friend for dinner on a Wednesday early evening. Every single staff member was so polite and pleasant. The aesthetic of this place is definitely a vibe, and the music was loud enough to set a (good) mood, but not too loud that I couldn’t hear what I was saying. So 5 stars for all that. Now as for the food… We each had a drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert, and it came out to about $230 for the two of us, which included a mandatory 15% service (gratuity) fee. I didn’t come away feeling like I got my money’s worth. Nothing was bad, it just didn’t match what I was expecting/hoping for. However, I ultimately would give this place another try, I just wouldn’t get a cocktail or dessert next time. When I do go back, I’ll update my review if appropriate!

Yelp
We celebrated my birthday at K+K on Friday, we had a party of 5. I love the Ambience, the rose wall is beautiful. We were greeted by the Host who was very friendly and professional, from the time we walked in the restaurant the service was great, our waitress Munerrah was the best she was pleasant and very attentive and friendly throughout entire dining experience, she recommended the shorts ribs, and collars greens. It was so tender and seasoned to perfection, I also had the crab cake for my appetizer, it was delicious just wish it was bigger. The other people in my party had the lobster, blackened shrimp, fried shrimp and oysters, they enjoyed their food. I just wish they had a better dessert menu to offer. Overall K+K is vibing. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I was at the Philadelphia location. the food was very good but we were charged $24 for 2 bottles of water. one of our group had specifically said tap water would be fine. clearly the waitstaff have been told to upsell patrons for things like this. I also resent not having access to an actual menu. I don't like to QR code everything. the food was very good but the glitches above decreased the quality of the experience

Yelp
I was at the establishment located in Philadelphia, for brunch on the day of 10/18/2025 of the grand opening. I LOVED the ambiance, drinks and the food. It's a very lovely place. I was warmly greeted at the door. The staff checked on our table periodically to make certain that we were good. It's a friendly environment there. Two things I would mention that weren't necessarily horrible but I feel shoud be mentioned. It should be made known on the menu or verbally that certain items such as sauce and bottled water is al la carte. No real big deal compared to the experience, just in case a patron may be on a budget that information would be helpful. Our waitress was good but I felt she only catered to the needs of part of the guests at our table. In my experience of serving the public you must cater to the entire group. Meaning by way of giving all guests at the table that you're waiting undivided attention. Something to work on yet not a deal breaker for me to return. I enjoyed myself immensely! I shall return

Yelp
We stopped by Kitchen + Kocktails without a reservation and ended up sitting at the bar , which turned out much better than expected. Please note the beautiful golden barstools are beautiful but very uncomfortable. Our bartender, Kevin, was absolutely amazing! He was attentive, friendly and made us feel so welcome from start to finish. To start, the mojito was just okay, but the pineapple margaritas were amazing. . The charbroiled oysters and shrimp on the dream eggs (another name for deviled eggs) were very salty but the Trinity eggrolls were amazing. For our main course I really enjoyed my lamb and my girlfriend said her catfish and grits were excellent. The side of mashed potatoes had great flavor but were unfortunately served cold and the cornbread was a bit on the dry side. Dessert completely redeemed all of the hiccups. The banana pudding was delicious but the peach cobbler was phenomenal. Overall, a great vibe and excellent service. We'll definitely be back, next time with a reservation!

Yelp
Six friends visited here for dinner to celebrate a birthday on a Sunday evening, 7pm reservations. The two pluses for this restaurant is the time it took for the food to come out after being ordered and the decor. The areas of much needed improvement, which echoes others reviews is how salty the food is, food is overpriced, and the music played does not set the tone of an upscale restaurant. For our appetizer, we had the devil eggs with shrimp on top, salmon bites, and crab cake....the first two appetizers mentioned were incredibly salty, the crab cake was delicious although you received only 1. Although the menu looked delicious and after taking a minute to look at other reviews, we asked our waiter what they had that was not considered salty (he was aware of prior customers' feedback on their food), he recommended the lamb chops. They had a 12 platter lamb chop which we ordered and we ordered sides of greens, mac & cheese, yams, and black eyed peas... we also ordered the shrimp and grits for the pescaterian at our table. The lamb chops were good, but $130 for petite lamb chops was ridiculous. All the sides were good minus the mac & cheese, way to thick and you guessed it,the shrimp in the shrimp and grits was salty. We ordered peach cobbler, it is not served hot, just mildly warm...our server advised it is made in a batch and kept in a warmer for scooping and distributing. Lastly, a young lady seated 2 tables over from us started twirking to a song, the song was that kind of music which has its place, however it should never be played in a restaurant that is trying to position themselves as a 4 or 5 star. Lastly, we do NOT have a problem with paying for good food and we believe in supporting new businesses as well as black owned businesses but this restaurant was a disappointment and I would never recommend.

Summer B.

Yelp
I wholeheartedly want nothing more than to see black owned businesses thrive but this is one I don't see withstanding the test of time. This spot is the all new rave and hype in many social circles currently. But as time goes on many folks will not be repeat customers because it's just way too expensive. The food is good but VERY EXPENSIVE. When I think of comfort food I don't think of it as being astronomically priced. Totally paying for the ambiance and location. How can ONE drink cost $32!! 20% Gratuity is automatically added Dining with friends will cost you roughly $90 pp It's a one and done experience.

Yelp
On November 14, 2025, I went to have dinner with a friend of mine at the newly opened "Kitchen + Kocktails" restaurant in downtown Philadelphia. And, I was extremely disappointed in my first (and last) dining experience at this establishment!!! My first disappointment lied in the food in which I ordered which was the blackened catfish. After waiting nearly 30 minutes for it to be served to me, I immediately had to send it back through our waitress (Kayla) because the catfish was completely soggy and way overcooked. So, after being totally disappointed in what I truly had a taste for I had to wind up selecting something else. And, since there really wasn't anything else on the menu that struck me with indulging in, I just decided to order a to-go dish of the "southern fried chicken". And, must I say that too was a terrible meal. It wasn't until I got home to open up and get ready to eat my meal that their so-called "southern fried chicken" consisted of only a "drumand a small thigh"! Needless to say, I was livid because here I spent $21 for just two small pieces of chicken! That's completely ridiculous and ludicrous especially for someone eating from a "highly-acclaimed" dining establishment with renowned locations around the country. Lastly, the only thing I'll mention about the ambiance is that since it was a Friday night and late in the evening, I expected the restaurant to be crowded especially since of the location in Center City Philadelphia. However, the music that was being played throughout the entire restaurant while me and guest were dining was totally "Trap Music"! And, in my opinion this did not create for a pleasurable ambiance nor experience to have to listen to all throughout our dinner. In conclusion, I'm really irate more so about my bill (check) received at the end of the night. Unbeknownst to me, before I received my itemized check I asked our waitress (Kayla) would the gratuity be added in the check? And, she (Kayla) adamantly said, "No, the tip isn't included and that you'll just see your total, tax and a service charge and that's all". So, I thought to myself, "Fine!". And so, since I'm paying the check with my visa, my thoughtful guest decided to just leave a generous and gratuitous cash tip of $27. However, when I finally got home and reviewed the late computerized text receipt that was sent to me the check in fact reflected a (20%) gratuity charge added on to the dining bill. Needless to say, this why I'm writing such a disturbing review about my entire horrible experience. As a consumer, I felt disappointed in my whole meal experience, the ambiance felt ratchet and as a customer I felt cheated, lied and betrayed. "Kitchen + Kocktails" will receive nothing but negative reviews/remarks from me should anyone ever ask me what I thought about my experience with this unethical establishment. #1starrating #KitchenKocktails #Philadelphia

Yelp
I really struggled with this review because I'm a big fan of this restaurant and have always enjoyed their DC location. The food here was very good overall. My Catfish & Grits (7.5/10) were well done, and the side of waffles (8/10) hit the spot too. The sides were solid across the board -- Mac & Cheese (7.5/10), Collard Greens (7.5/10), and Yams (7/10, though they were very sweet). Service: This was the toughest part of my experience. I'd read a few reviews mentioning slow or inconsistent service, and unfortunately, I experienced that too. It took about 10-15 minutes just to get our bottled water (Aqua Panna), which made me a little nervous about how the rest of the meal would go. Thankfully, the food came out in a reasonable time, but I felt like I had to rush to get our order in. I also ordered cornbread as a side that never arrived. When I checked in with our server, he said it was coming, but it never did -- and I had to make sure it was removed from the bill at the end. I get that the restaurant is still new and probably ironing out some kinks, but service is definitely an area for improvement. Price: I don't mind paying higher prices for good food (and the food was good), but a few things didn't sit right with me. Charging $3 for a side of hot sauce felt excessive. There's also an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill -- which I'm fine with since that's what I normally tip -- but it wasn't clearly communicated, which could easily cause people to double tip. That felt a bit deceptive. I also had to specifically ask to see the bill on the handheld machine before paying, which made me feel like they didn't want me to review the charges -- another training issue that can hopefully be addressed with time and experience. Overall: I'd absolutely come back for the food because it was great, but the service needs some work. Also, be aware that the 20% tip is already included -- don't get caught accidentally tipping twice!

Yelp
I'm sorry but please check my record before judging me. I've been around the world and I'm not basing my review on a Soul Food or down home basis just a matter of good food versus not good food. Here we go!! The oysters were extremely salty. The yams were undercooked it seems like you just threw your sauce on top of it as a last-minute suggestion instead of baking it in so the flavor can go throughout the yams the macaroni and cheese pasta was gummy. The best thing about this restaurant was my server. My server in fact was excellent along with the patron Margarita. . Outside of that this is not a restaurant that I will return to. For photo ops, the decor gives a very nice scenic Instagram Queens/"Queens" a great photo op. However, in person, I find the floral wall reminiscent of dollar store decor. But keep in mind as I said on Instagram, Facebook TikTok it will look fabulous but in person. It's cheap. 20% automatic gratuity no matter the size of the party. Humm?? This is PHILLY year 1 you may do the Montell Jordan by making 1 million and making a dash but this will not last! Or is that the plan? Would I return? Absolutely positively not!! Bye for now I'm going to take an extra high blood pressure pill good night.

Yelp
Some of the best soul food I've ever had! Simply delicious. I really appreciate that the dishes were well seasoned without being overly salted. The portions were very generous and I had to take home what I could not finish. Highly recommend if you enjoy good soul food.

Yelp
we came around 5:45pm with a reservation but still had to wait a little bit to be seated (maybe 10 minutes). The restaurant has beautiful decor and definitely a nice place to dress nicely but me and my friends came in running clothes (just participated in a race) and were treated no different. We had a really nice server who was very attentive. Our food orders took a really long time to come out but at least it came out hot and very tasty. Really enjoyed the flavor of our food. My girl got shrimp and grits and her husband got pork chops (he didn't care for the pork chops). We also got a frozen margarita which was a nice shareable size and pretty strong and tasty. Worth the 40 dollars for the drink. I would come back here!

Yelp
Came here after my workout at the Bellevue Sporting Club -- figured I'd refuel with something good. Big mistake. I sat at the bar thinking I'd grab a quick bite. The bartender looked right at me, then decided his personal convo with another patron was clearly more important than, you know, doing his job. Eventually, he took my order like I was interrupting his social hour. Let's talk prices: I paid $60 for 8 fried shrimp, a side of fries, one pineapple juice with club soda, and a $5 charge for hot sauce (yes, FIVE DOLLARS... for sauce). Oh, and they automatically add gratuity -- so even when the service stinks, you're still tipping. Love that for me. The place is cute -- I'll give them that -- but no TVs, so you can't even distract yourself while waiting for your overpriced shrimp to make it from the kitchen. The hostess told me there's no TV's because it's a "fine dining" establishment. I didn't bother to educate her. Food was fine. Like, "this-could've-come-from-anywhere" fine. Definitely not "$60 fine." I dine out all the time, and I don't mind paying top dollar -- but this wasn't luxury, this wasn't upscale....unfriendly, inattentive staff, unreasonably high prices, and deep frying everything in a central location does not equate to "fine dining" If you like paying steakhouse prices for deep fried seafood platter vibes and being ignored while doing it -- this is your spot.

Yelp
Ok, so the morning before I went to this fraud of a place, I had a dingos breakfast (a scratch, a piss and a look around). I say this to say I was looking forward to great flavors and a good time. I heard about this place so my wife and I went even though I'm biased against black owned businesses. Needless to say I've had mostly bad experiences when dining at black owned establishments and this would be no different. Firstly, we were seated at the kind of table you use when you're barbecuing in your backyard! Yes, a folding table with a cloth on it! Secondly, the waitress was very inexperienced. She seemed to forget that she was to take our order and not force us to get what she wanted us to get. We asked about the taste of the crab cake because we know all crab cakes are not created equally. She said there's not much you can do to ruin a crab cake. At that moment, I knew she was full of crap and a devastating result was on the way. The cake came out tasting half done and left a lot to be desired. My wife had salmon and rice. There was very little flavor and it didn't taste like it was all the way done. I had the chicken and waffles. My chicken was dry like the Sahara Desert! The neighborhood Chinese store makes better chicken. My waffles were doughy and every bite made me wonder why I made a foolish decision to try another BOB. My drink was super overpriced and the mixologist must have just got his certificate that very hour because the blend was none of that. The waitress did not fill our water glasses throughout our dining experience and when it came to time to pay, she failed to mention there was a 15% gratuity charge. She did not let me see the handheld scanner to review the charges. I ended up paying $170 for bad food. It was way too high and I double tipped her because she withheld information about the gratuity. Lastly, my wife left her salmon in the take home box. She called about ten minutes after we left. Instead of being catered to and looking into the matter, she got attitude and very poor customer service from the manger Alexis of all people. I would never go back to this fake fine dining establishment. It's deceptive in how you are billed and the service is lackluster. PS I even wrote a book about these places called black business blues. Teach your children and let's do better!

Yelp
We wanted to celebrate my Sister's 45th birthday and she chose to dine at this new establishment. I recommend making a reservation because this restaurant gets crowded quickly. We were pleasantly greeted and we enjoyed the ambiance. The restaurant was lively with conversations were flowing. The our drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts were served at a good pace. Our Server was warm, friendly and professional. Our Server made sure to inform us if there was any delay with any items that we ordered. The food was delicious with ample servings. Yes, we had to plate up the food to carry home. Leftovers are always good the next day. Another visit will be made. We had a wonderful dining experience. Thank you Kevin Kelley for bringing Kitchen and Kocktails to Philly.

Yelp
This was an outstanding experience! Maggie was our waitress and truly made the visit unforgettable. Her attentiveness, warm personality, and excellent recommendations took everything to the next level. I loved the ambiance--stylish, welcoming, and full of good energy. The vibes were absolutely perfect. The food and drinks were delicious, and everything arrived fresh and well-prepared. I will definitely return and highly recommend Kitchen + Kocktails to anyone seeking a great dining experience!

Yelp
Went for brunch on a lovely fall Sunday, and really had a wonderful time. Had seen the place on social media, and I'm so glad we decided to check it out. We were promptly seated by the friendly and conversational hostess station, and our waitress couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant. For only being open for a month, I was exceedingly impressed with how smoothly everything ran. The physical space is beautifully appointed, and it is really a showcase, impressive location. I started with a Bloody Mary, which was good but slightly underwhelming for a place so famous for its cocktails. I would have thought they had some sort of specialty Bloody for brunch. No beer list at all was a surprising choice, but I had a rum punch for my second cocktail, and it was great. The menu was packed with awesome choices, but in the end, we both decided on the chicken and waffles. My wife had all white meat with the regular waffle, while I went with a combo of light and dark meat with the butter pecan waffles. What a feast. Wow - it was amazing. Very excited to go back, there is a ton of great stuff on the menu and we really enjoyed our initial visit. The manager came over and was super attentive and friendly, as well - this is a great spot that we loved, and we can't wait to get back.

Yelp
The one in South Carolina helped me make my decision to even go to the Philly location. I WILL NOT GO BACK NOR REFER ANYONE. The Philly location are thieves. Watch your receipt and the prices charged to your card. The waitress had nails that were reallll long. Not a good thing for working in this industry. Piercing everywhere. There has to be guidelines or procedures for this sort of thing. Food was ok. Over priced but expected. My party of three spent $244. They charged us a 20% gratuity, making the bill $318.68, when that was said to be for parties of 6 or more. Plus the $40 I gave to the waitress as a tip. If I had known about the 20%, I would have never given more. This made our 3 person meal $358.68. Not to mention the parking. You don't get a paper receipt, it's sent via text. Smh. I called with hopes of getting that 20% gratuity back, because it was truly a mistake on their part. I did not receive a return call. As I expected. Every time I try to support a new establishment or a majority business, it goes left. I will not refer anyone else there, I will tell people to not leave until the text receipt comes through on your phone. I drove 2 hours from the Dover, Delaware. It wasn't worth it. We should have ate dinner in our own state.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of being at this restaurants grand opening week. I was so thrilled honestly and very impressed. From the start I was greeted by the front door and host with "welcome home" . The restaurant had a very upscale appearance with a welcoming vibe from the entire staff. I didn't know what to order and the staff let me sample the peach dusse. I can honestly say that it's my favorite drink now i highly recommended it. I came here to try new food that I don't usually eat and I was not let down. The oysters and fried cauliflower were so flavorful my favorite food items here . Everyone I was with loved it here they gave this restaurant 10 out of 10. We can't wait to return to this place and try more items it was a great experience overall.

Yelp
Fried Seafood, pork chops and collard greens were all extremely salted. I was very sick for 2 days after. We sat in front, beautiful ambiance but unfortunately they left the front side door unlocked and we froze the whole time from everyone going out. We probably will not go back. food very pricy and the drinks

Yelp
Food and ambience top notch! Every bite was full of flavor. My new favorite soul food spot.

Yelp
I came in for dinner with a group of friends because we were craving the food that our momma's used to cook when we were children. Man! Kitchen and Kocktails by Kevin Kelly did not disappoint. We had the greens, fried chicken, Mac and Cheese, dirty rice, and the GUMBO! Felt like I was in Port Arthur! The vibe was grown and sexy and the service made us feel like we were at home. Cant wait to return

Yelp
Our welcome home server Sharee was awesome bubbly happy and great energy however where my table ended up next to a relief station across from the kitchen where i heard servers standing behind our seats .......every convo from the servers were heard and NOT Pleasurable. Would love less salt, more cheese in the mac n cheese, less vinegar on the greens, Grilled Lobster was Salty and a tad bit tiny. The Jerk Lamb Chops were Tasty. I am huge Foody- the SALMON BITES WERE TO DIE FOR YUM !! Live entertainment Hip swanky something would be nice !! Give me an experience before swollen feet. Would love to experience Upper Echelon Spirits options ROSE Prosecco etc.... not a Frozen Rose with Vodka. We celebrated a birthday without any sparkles nor any type of birthday desert option experience or ambiance. If its welcome home treat me like ya love me Will always pay for fine dining, a beautiful menu and ambiance. Overall its new and i hope these tidbits will help for future growth and presentation This is could be really big for philly's culture !! Has a perfect location Work Hard Play Hard but need to tweak somethings Think Big !!

Yelp
I visited this place for the first time on my birthday ( today) and the experience was fabulous. I love the floral decor. The service was friendly and nice and the food delicious!! My dear friend had the gumbo, we had a shareable plate which consisted of lamb chops , deviled eggs and a salmon cake. All 20/10. I never had medium rare anything before and the lamb chops were flavorful and juicy. My friend's main entree was the gumbo and I had the stuffed salmon. Absolutely delectable. Everything was prepared to perfection. I also liked how my birthday was acknowledged with a post card. Very nice. I can't wait to return.

Food salty and overpriced. They obviously haven't heard the expression "you eat with your eyes first" because it was lacking presentation. No coffee or tea. I couldn't even get a mug of hot water because they do not have mugs! I could understand if I was seated in the bar area but I wasn't. Service was lacking. Tip is automatically added so no incentive for waitstaff to care about the service they give. Table was too narrow and you had to sit on edge of bench and lean forward. When tablecloth was lifted it looked like a workbench you would see in a garage or a machine shop. They do not bring you a bill. Waiter reads what you had and tells you price. When asked for printout to review they give you handheld device and stand there waiting for you to return the device. I've eaten at fine dining establishments around the country as well as in Europe and Asia and this was by far the worst. One and done for me!!

Yelp
Newly opened store so I had to try it, had the jerk lamb chops to start then Chicken & Waffles. The cinnamon waffles are to die for!!! Their Dusse froze was really good and the frozen cocktail was perfect pairing for the spice level on those lamp chops. I highly recommend

Yelp
Food was A1!!! And it's refreshing to receive such good customer service, as a guest you merely want to be acknowledged and these people said "Welcome Home" at every turn, that was an awesome gesture!

Yelp
Top tier food and immaculate hospitality!!! I went with a few friends and we enjoy it from the moment we walked in, until we left the building!

Yelp
We were quite disappointed. The food was EXTREMELY SALTY. Ordered the lobster bites and could not taste the lobster for the salt. The salt issue was the general consensus among those sitting near us. Also service was very slow and the waitress was inexperienced. We left and went to another restaurant. I know they have only been open for a month or so but I would not go back. For the price we paid, we expected a better experience.

Yelp
Great (though pricey!) Bloody Mary's generously topped with shrimp, olive, & half a deviled egg. The blackened salmon on Caesar salad were both delicious. My friend really liked her catfish, grits, & eggs. Place is lively, busy, & well staffed. South Broad Street & the Avenue of the Arts really needed a top tier restaurant. It now has one. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
The Philadelphia restaurant just recently opened, so I was fine with some of the snags, but... Firstly, the food was really good. Spicy Seafood Gumbo, delicious crispy chicken, those cornbread croutons in the caesar salad and the blackened salmon all great! The restaurant is beautiful. BUT - 1. bottled water was served without asking and each person ws charged $4. 2. The waitress was new and sweet, but very confused- went to question our drink order three times. She couldn't explain the pricing- which was not good 3. No physical menu- very bad for our group. 4. No Beer served at all- really pushed the ridiculous $32 Cocktails. 5. I had the special $17 soup and salad and ordered a piece of salmon - wound up with a $58.00 lunch bill-sticker shock!. 6. We wanted dessert and coffee, but they did not serve any hot drinks- so we skipped that. Maybe they will get it together in the coming weeks. I won't be back to find out

Yelp
$21 for a single small crab cake - outrageous drink prices and horrible service. Avoid this place at all cost. It is simply a rip off.

Yelp
Very disappointing night. Excited to check this place out but the restaurant was clearly not ready for the crowd. Understaffed -- there weren't enough servers to handle the tables. It took a long time just to get a drink, and when it finally arrived, it wasn't even the right one. After waiting another 20 minutes for the correct drink, things didn't get much better. Ordered chicken & waffles, which took 75 minutes to arrive, and it was decent but definitely not worth the wait. Between the slow service and the mix-ups, this was a very frustrating experience. Definitely will not be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Too much to go into detail. I just will not go again. I'm still trying to figure out. I ordered a cosmos no cranberry juice. Bartender says I can make a purple passion. Drink was so bad I couldn't finish it. I get the bill...I'm charged $17 for one shot of Tito's and $5 for the mix and an automatic tip. $31 for 1 drink?! When did this start ?!! All high ends restaurants and I go to quite a few all over. It's one price for a cocktail. Will not see me again. I can even talk about the prices for even the appetizers.

Yelp
The atmosphere is lovely. The food is so so. The candies yams should have been cooked longer. The devil eggs had no flavor. The fried chicken wings need flavor. The cornbread is very dry. How could they get cornbread wrong? I am used to sweet cornbread served with butter or honey. Writing this review is hurting my heart. I am an African American and suppirt Black businesses. The people around me were also complaining about the food. Hopefully, they will get a new chef and do better. I think it's time to change the recipe.

Yelp
What a terrible place... I walked in dressed down casual but neat and clean. The hostess sneered a "Welcome home" at me maybe because I forgot my blazer at home. She quickly dismissed me to the door man. He told me he would be "Honored" to seat me if he could make sure I didn't have a gun in my bag. He said he is the only one who could have one there. I was escorted to the bar and ignored after that. I guess my money was not green enough. I found a better spot around the block that was less douchey. I really enjoyed that place.
