Did City Racial Discrimination Cause the Shutdown of a Chicagoland Restaurant? | Eater Chicago

"I noted that the Chicago White Sox launched Change-Up Kitchen, a popup program featuring food from a rotating selection of local restaurants at a food cart near section 113 during weekend games at Sox Park; the popups continue tonight with Bill’s Grills and finish on September 9 with Haire’s Fried Shrimp." - Daniel Gerzina

Well, interesting here…….. not a traditional food court at all but several kiosks to order food. Prices are reasonable not sure how the service varies from place to place. Convenient and New Age technologically for sure.

I loved the idea of common space, like a food court, but it’s cozy and stylish so it doesn’t give you that feeling. Clean, which for me is an important factor… Very useful when you and your friends have different craving. They have Indian food (Cumin Club), Japanese (Shinobi) and Hawaiian meats (Hawaiian Bros), coffee (Peet’s). In the middle there is a bar where you can order drinks. I tried the Japanese restaurant and I liked it (separate review on their location)

We went there to get dinner from Hawaiian Bros. and everyone was great. But Pierre went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. He remembered our name, made sure our table was clean and ready to go and it was clear that hospitality was second nature to him. Kudos to Kitchen United Mix for having folks like Pierre on your team!

My visit was a failure. Speed, for a food court downtown during lunch hour, is crucial. Especially when restaurants aren’t particularly busy. Waiting 55 minutes for an order from Hawaiian Bros is simply unacceptable. Food quality wasn’t up to par either. Long wait + tummy ache in the office = failure. I’ve had delivery nightmares from both this location and the one on Sedgwick. Nice concept, but inadequate service and execution will steer my business elsewhere going forward.

The concept is a bit confusing and the food is alright. Once I got the hang of it since you’re ordering from a kiosk, it’s actually pretty cool! You can order from the different vendors they have available. I happened to come in when most everything was closed but I’ll try to come back when there are more options available. I got my first order from Hawaiian Bros and it was good.

This place is so poorly ran and nonsensical. I would like to make it clear that this review is unrelated to the food/vendors and is exclusively about the operations of the facility. I ordered online to get my food at 8:30am and the place was open based on the facility website. When I got there, all the doors were locked. I had to knock until a very nice woman left me in to pick up my burrito. Why do I have to go on a scavenger hunt for a burrito I paid for, that was supposed to be open? This place also has disorganized, confusing, and long wait times when the doors are open. I wish it was ran better because the vendors really suffer for the inefficiency of the facility operations.

Horrible experience: This place took FOREVER to get our food. I asked the man at the front to check on our food (and gave him the name on the order) after 10 minutes, he said it would be a few more minutes. Not a problem if that was the case. I asked again after another 10 minutes and he said a few more minutes. This kept continuing till we got our food after 45 minutes of standing there. For a place that is supposed to be quick it was not. Not to mention it was not busy inside.

Ordered from Hawaiian Bros. Food was quick and portion sizes were generous. Pierre was absolutely welcoming, personable and made sure that we were taken care of.

Yelp
DRINK UP The bar is finally open inside the Kitchen United Mix Cloud Kitchen. This is a great place to grab a drink, while you are waiting to pick up your food. They have a Happy Hour from 4-6pm but you must order food in order to get this deal. They have some great craft brews available for $6 during Happy Hour. I recently grabbed a beer, while I was waiting for my food to be made at Camile Thai. The Thai food is really good here. I've ordered from this location three times already. The bar is not very crowded at all and I think it's because people don't know about it. I love the flexibility of Kitchen United Mix with their 10+ restaurants to choose from. The bar would actually grab more people at Happy Hour if they dropped those beer prices to $4 and didn't make people buy food. I'd highly recommend you grab a drink here if you're picking up your food. Once we got our food we headed over to the river for a fantastic sunset dinner on the water. Cheers!

Yelp
Super cool concept but it took us a few minutes to figure out. You walk in and there are several restaurants- similar to a food court, with a bar in the middle. But not really any staff that is visible. You order and pay from one of several kiosks or using your phone, including cocktails! THEN someone magically appears with your drinks, offers water and brings your food, packaged to go. You can eat it there or take it out. Like I said, really cool concept. But when I ordered there was no option to add a tip and I didn't have any cash for Leonard, who was very gracious and served my drink, got water for all 4 of us and brought our food. The main reason for 3 stars was the Pad Thai. See picture. Angel hair pasta, microwave chicken, tasteless sauce. Gross. The burrito and Hawaiian chicken were "fine" but not fabulous.
