Barcelona’s Best Markets: Where to Eat at La Boqueria and More | Eater

"A compact but charismatic market near the cathedral, instantly recognizable by its colorful, wavy-tiled roof that mirrors the produce inside and makes it a popular photo spot. Though smaller than the largest markets, it packs serious culinary value, anchored by a bustling bar with an affordable fixed-price lunch featuring traditional Catalan dishes such as cap i pota and bacalao a la llauna, plus house-made desserts — arrive for an early lunch to secure a seat. The intimate scale and quality-focused stalls give it a lively, local feel." - Chris Ciolli

Sea bass tartare and the pork ribs were delicious! I'd give the chicken curry a pass if you prefer savory over sweet coconut-y. Overall, food taste is great here and I'd definitely go back. Service was okay, although it was quite difficult to get servers' attention (perhaps because it was a busy time of day!) If you're dining al fresco with dogs, I recommend this restaurant. But go on a cloudy day, because on sunny days most visitors don't want the table umbrella opened :)

This dining experience started off well enough, my daughter was craving paella and the host suggested the seafood rice so we sat down inside for dinner. Firstly for the tapas, I must say the fried aubergines(eggplant) was absolutely memorable, and overall the presentation of the food was excellent. The marinated salmon was good but, the stale cracker it came on and the inedible fried onions on top, brought the dish down. There were no complaints for the meat gyoza (not pictured). The avocado salad was pretty good but there was too much feta dressing for my taste. The shrimp tagliatelle (not pictured) was terrible and so was the paella because both dishes contained old, mushy shrimp that permeated the dishes and made my mouth itch. Additionally for the paella, the thin layer of rice gave rice a roni vibes. I let the staff know the shrimp were too old to be served but they didn’t care. We originally wanted to try desserts but after the disappointments of the previous dishes, we chose to leave. Our waitress also did several other tasks after we asked to pay the bill, like restocking glasses she went upstairs to get, and that didn’t enhance our experience. Despite the good items on the menu, the terrible ones overshadowed our meal, I personally won’t be coming back but I recommend NEVER ordering any dish with shrimp from this establishment.

Google
The location was excellent, you could sit indoors or outdoors. Good people watching. The food was excellent. I had a hard time getting and keeping the servers attention attention. It wasn’t busy, but it took me 30 minutes to pay my bill. At first, I thought it was because I was a solo traveler, but then I realized she was just rather casual about how she took care of her tables. Go if you have time for a leisurely delicious meal.

Cozy modern beachy vibes with high ceilings, high-quality Spanish tapas classics, and nice drinks. The lemonade was really tart, flavorful, refreshing, and good 😊 and the tomato bread was the best we’ve had in Barcelona. Great respite near the Catedral de Barcelona.

Google
I ordered the Iberian pork Ribs and have eaten pork Ribs around the world. These ribs have to rate as the nicest that I have ever tasted. The service was smooth, and the wait staff were extremely attentive. Although our waiter opened our champagne too early and it spilt all over the floor. I can forgive that as he was young and extremely apologetic. Being part of the fresh produce market, give a fresh food vibe and smell. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and recommend a visit.

We had a delightful, light lunch after a stop at the cathedral. Fresh ingredients, nice vibe and well located!

Google
My wife dine here about every week or so when we are in Barcelona! This is a lovely space with great service (especially Carina, she is incredibly nice and super efficient!) and a very creative and tasty menu. We love the gyozas de verduras with a great dipping sauce. The fried cheese with grilled scallions and asparagus was awesome, as well as the gazpacho. The tortilla espanola is also very tasty and teh gazpacho is some of the best we have ever had. Their menu is very creative and has something for every taste. Go!

On January 5, 2025, around 8:00 PM, I visited this restaurant and ordered the Spanish seafood paella for 22 euros. The paella only came with two shrimps, was overly salty, every mussel was full of sand, and the taste was extremely strong and not fresh at all. I experienced continuous vomiting and diarrhea for 5 days. Symptoms included fever, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and diarrhea. After reading the reviews, I found out that other people also got food poisoning from this seafood paella! I strongly advise anyone considering trying this place to think twice!

Yelp
By the local market so expect fresh ingredients, vegetables, fish and meat. Casual feel. A place to relax with beer, olives, tapas... I came on Sunday so the market was closed. Ordered off a daily menu. Excellent grilled squid with vegetables. Service was quick and folks are ok with English.

Yelp
Was referred here by a local tour guide. Was sadly not impressed at all. Not super busy , seated right away. Servers are not pleasant , do not want questions about food. We had fried artichokes, they were good , they need sauce or something, salt helped. I had onion soup gratin my friend had penne bolognese. The soup had good presentation, it ended there. It had NO flavor, stirred it salted it nothing improved. We asked for Parmesan cheese when our food was delivered, we had to ask again. When the cheese was finally delivered, I had to use Google translate to explain the soup had no flavor. The server did not seem interested in taking the plate away. Wanted to know if they wanted to remake it.?? The pasta was basic but good The gentleman we ordered, saw the other server, taking back our soup, and he never came back by to talk to us The food prices are not super expensive, but not cheap I read reviews on other sites. It feels like the staff not being friendly as a common situation. To bad its a nice trendy restaurant

Yelp
While wandering around Barcelona, we realized we needed to eat dinner and we stumbled along this place. For 6 people, we were able to get a table easily which was great! To start, we got a bottle of wine and they had a decent selection. We got some appetizers to start but the entree was the main event. I got the bolognese pasta and it was a healthy serving and it was delicious. Someone else got the Cordero (lamb) and said it was just okay but the potatoes it came with were good. We also got an extra side of the patatas braves and those were to die for! A classic tapa staple and glad they were good Overall the food was good! Menu was limiting but I think they had some options for specials but overall a good experience! Beautiful restaurant too.

Yelp
Stopped by as we were walking around Barcelona. The space is really nice - that was what attracted us to begin with. We only stopped for a drink so did not get a chance to try the food, but everything looked really good. Will need to come back and try it out later.

Yelp
On my recent trip to Spain, we stumbled across this restaurant and where more than pleasantly surprised. The bathrooms were pretty clean. The place was very clean. The service was quick and excellent, but the food was chef's kiss. Especially the pork ribs. They were some of the softest ribs I've ever had in my life. They came off clean from the bone. I would definitely recommend for anybody, but especially if you are a tourist.

Yelp
Stayed at hotel next door and came in here for beer and some tapas. Pleasantly surprised by how good the stuff is. The Iberian pork with bread and tomato was really really good. Mussels were fresh. Way better than the 5 star tapas place we went to -- their shell fish was not fresh... I don't want to name the place but it's the place with 4.7 star and over a 1000 reviews. I would choose this one over the other any day even though they have less variety ...

Yelp
I came in here for beers while shopping at Santa Caterina Mercat. They were cool with me bringing my own Banderillas and olives and squid and ham in here. They even offered me a fork and napkin to go with all my tapas that I brought into their restaurant. The restaurant is connected with the Santa Caterina Mercat, which is probably the second largest market in Barcelona, the tamer, cheaper one that the locals seem to go to. This place has it easy with purchasing ingredients, since they can just go into the market to get more ceviche fixin's or whatever. The staff was nice, and didn't care that I was breaking restaurant protocol by bringing in my own food. I apologized, but they didn't mind at all. I was still drinking beers. Beers seemed to be the only thing that the Mercat vendors didn't sell directly to the consumer. The beers were cold, and plentiful. The server was funny and we had a great time. My dining companions all enjoyed their dishes, but I don't recall what they had because I was so excited over all the bites I was getting at the Mercat.

Yelp
Came here for lunch after walking through the market. I got the seafood rice, my parents got lentil soup, squid with asparagus, charcoal grilled octopus, and my brother got steak and fries. My parents also got some of the fresh juices they have. All the food was great, it was just kind of expensive for the portions you get. I think I paid roughly 100€ for the whole meal. The seafood rice had squid and shrimp, and rice was flavored with the squid ink. The octopus and shrimp were perfectly tender. The steak wad quite small, and came with like five fries. But the flavor of everything was great.

Yelp
We had lunch as a family. We had two pieces of hair in our pasta. The kitchen is an open kitchen and none of the persons working in the kitchen (at the time 5 persons) had a hair cover. The manager was rather unfriendly, did not apologize and said that it was not a regulation to have hair covers in kitchens. No matter what the regulation is nobody wants hair in their food. Very poor hygiene for a touristic business in Barcelona.

Yelp
Super convenient (hotel is next door). Wonderful diverse menu, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you happen to be in the market. We had the salmon tartare, tagliatelle with shrimp and chili's and asparagus. Plenty to share. All were delicious. Second visit - delicious bread, cold Heiny, asparagus romesco, chicken and shrimp fried rice and the amazing tagliatelle. If we were here longer there would be a third visit. Great restaurant town.

Yelp
Everything is so fresh and delicious and Perfectly seasoned. Finally! Spanish food elevated and lightened up. So much of the food here is rustic and heavy. This market to table restaurant Can accommodate every diet/restriction. Efficient service and all of the staff we encountered spoke good English. What a Gorgeous setting with sizable portions, bordering on too big/American size Great to be able to see the Kitchen staff working. What a multinational crew. We chose from the vegetable, fish, meet and dessert boxes of the menu. We started with a Tomato and tuna medley. Conserved Tuna here is just so good. Then a large portion of sautés vegetable of all size, shapes and colors and so delicious. For our mains; The Razor clams that were so tasty with a fresh herb dressing. Leon had a large Lamb shank that fell off the bone onto a thick jus. Finished with a Divine Cheese plate and bread that we actually took home and tarte Tatine that was essentially all Apple. Would highly recommend and would certainly return. Such a Great area of Barcelona.

Yelp
The restaurant is located inside the Mercat de Santa Caterina. It's a pretty big restaurant and very nice inside. They also have a tapas bar that you can sit at. Keep in mind that if you are seated at a table, you are not able to order any tapa items. The seafood rice is very good and tasted like it came from sea. I don't recall too much seafood, but the seafood that they have, it was fresh and sweet. The cost here is a bit pricey, but if you can't find anything that you like in the market, this is an option.

Yelp
While on our walking historic tapas tour of town we stopped in for drinks/tapas at the bar with our guide. Friendly service. Great wine. Great tapas. Quality/delicious foods Highly recommended Slanche!

Yelp
The Santa Caterina market has the *coolest* menu setup. It's effectively a giant grid, with cuisine types across one axis and primary ingredients along the second axis. So, for example, you could find Thai and Mexican meat dishes, or South Asian and Columbian vegetable dishes with rice. It's super fun. The space itself is also stunning; one of my faves in Barca. It's huge, high-ceilinged, has tons of light and uses mixed materials of wood, stone, metal and glass for an impressive facade. It'll literally be packed from open-to-close in summer. There's often festivals outside, and it's basically never a dull moment. I can't recommend this place enough. The only (slight) detraction is the cost. It's not terribly expensive for most European cities, but it is above average for a Barcelona restaurant. Consider it an entirely worthwhile splurge!

Yelp
We were staying in an apartment that overlooked the market. Our host recommended the restaurant. We actually never made it for dinner but had a nice tapas evening at the modern hip bar area and grabbed a drink out on the nearby plaza tables another night. Our tapas, some padron peppers and a few selections from the extensive skewer selection were nice and the bartenders/service was good. The little set up of tables out on the plaza is quite inviting and surrounded by shelves of greenery. Always something going on on the plaza and a fun place to sit for a drink or a meal. The main restaurant area is modern and buzzing with activity and trendy diners. The menu seemed very interesting with a good variety of all kinds of food apparently relying on the fresh products available in the market. Overall, a great operation and look forward to perhaps eating there our next time in Barcelona.

Yelp
Great experience! Everything fresh! Everything delicious. We had Tempura vegetables, green asparagus, salmon tartare, beef galicien, chicken curry and lamb roasted. The beef Galicien is served with hit stone. Outstanding. Chicken was 4 skews of chicken with rice, but the winner was the salmon Prepared right in front of our eyes. This was super quality. Service was ok but not superbe ( German ok means 100% ok. Americans would call it awesome.) But nothing special. Highly recommend! Oct 2018

Yelp
Our 2nd time around here, since it's close to our Hotel, but food is of quality, fresh and tasty! It is a bit touristy but you will met Barcelona ppl here too. Food comes fast and staff is a bit overwhelmed sometimes. But what the heck, no wonder if you have to feed the hangry mob of tourists all the time!&?#% It is totally fine if you are hungry and wan't your Tapas to be served fast, not the best, but a save bet!

Yelp
One of the best casual trendy places in Barcelona Great settings, in the new covered market of Barcelona, fantastic, fresh, always changing food from the market. Inventive dishes, beautiful, hip, young and nice staff. Warm and comfortable decor next to the cathedral I recommend it %100
google avatar

Yelp
We had lunch here because many places were closed on Sunday. It normally would not have been my 1st. choice. The prices are high and it is mostly for tourist. However, true to Barcelona, the food was absolutely great. I think if you have a large family, it is a great place because they have food from all over the world. You name it they have it. My husband had pasta and I had the sea food with rice. Yum! We left full and happy.
google avatar

Barbara C.

Yelp
This restaurant is very nice, although in a rather busy area. The service was friendly and fast. The food by itself is extremely good. Can recommend raw tuna with guacamole or any sort of squid tapas. Their patatas bravas are also very tasty but make sure not to eat them it f its a date. The garlic hits hard on that one:))) With four different tapas and two beers, we left there around 35 euros- but the price is likely to hike the moment you are more hungry.
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
Food here was amazing. The chef at the bar was a funny guy. We had fried calamari which was very fresh,ox tail rolled in cabbage was super tender. The star of the meal was the rice with crab, tasted like the ocea. We also had foie gras with egg and potatoes, you can never go wrong with foie gras.
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed our dinner only have two recommendations. 1) please chef devien the SHRIMP! Eating the digestive tract of my shrimp is like eating beach sand, and takes away the pleasure of eating my dinner. 2) Ger New waitstaff. The female waitress was rude and never coming to our table to deliver our meal, or take our dessert order etc...
google avatar

Yelp
Spacious, cool vibe with an international themed menu. The menu is divided according to the protein (or vegetarian option) and type of cuisine (Mediterranean, Asian and something else). We had a variety of dishes and was pleased with their interpretation of each cuisine. It's definitely not authentic, but the food had great flavor. I especially enjoyed their version of stir fry. The ingredients were fresh, healthy and each dish was well-executed. Also, beware that their is a service charge of 1€ per person, listed as a charge for bread. We were not made aware of this and did not want the bread in the first place. The ambience and diverse menu offerings make me a fan of this establishment.
google avatar

Luiz Fernando P.

Yelp
I disagree with some of the bad reviews that I've read below. Someone said that "it's not just the place that has to be nice, but also the food". Whenever I'm looking for a restaurant, I want the food to be specially well made. The place being nice, modern, or trendy is just a plus. Cuines Santa Caterina has a modern architecture as well as the market that surrounds it. I've eaten there twice and the food was really good on both occasions. If you're wondering wether it's pricey or not: what you pay is what you get. After orderning the dish of the day, a dessert and 1/2 a bottle of wine, the check didn't go over €25. There are also some negative reviews complaining that "the place is full of tourists". People tend to think that these type of places are "tourist traps" just because they look nice or because they offer an English menu right away. Fortunately this is not the case.
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
Excellent for tapas...right next to the sensational "Market" - Mercat de Santa Caterina. You can sit outside, at the bar (lots of seating) or in the well decorated restaurant. The decor is unique and beautiful. The restaurant serves all fresh food from the market and the menu is rather different...with a ton of different tapas offerings (and some truly amazing olives, pickles and salmon appetizers). Great food and wine selection. Staff speak multiple languages and are friendly and helpful. The market and restaurant were renovated into a very modern design - great architecture. Worth a visit.

Yelp
I popped in here after a walking tour of the city to grab dinner and I'm really glad I did. It is pretty much literally in the Santa caterina markets. They have outside, indoor and bar seating. Food was amazing and the staff was very friendly.
google avatar

Jenna F.

Yelp
I really like the casual vibe of the place. The kitchen is open with different stations cooking up different foods. Among the five of us, we had 1/4 suckling pig Chicken and prawn fried rice Yakitori chicken Beef tenderloin with bernaise sauce Assorted tomatoes with tuna belly Everything was delicious. It was a nice break from the tapas, paellas, and seafood that we had over the past few days.
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food and the rustic atmosphere. Located by the Caterina market it a wonderful spot where to dine or simply have some delicious tapas with a drink! We did both and plan to be back. For lunch we had he turbot fish (amazing) and grilled calamari with asparagus. The gazpacho was good too. Even the bread is good. We ended our meal with one of the best Catalan cream I had in a while. For tapas I recommend fried artichokes, cod croquettes, fired eggplants with honey, pescaditto frittos and everything was delish!
google avatar

Yelp
Holy Moley!l! 3 Things to Say: Awesome Food: Highlights include the Goat Cheese Salad and the Suckling Pig entree'. Beautiful Space. Make a Reservation.

Anthony T.

Yelp
Accessible spot with a good amount of seating attached to Santa Caterina market. Appears to be designed for tourists as have menus printed in English as well as a section of "world" offering, many of which are Asian inspired. We sat at the counter, watching our food being prepared by the line which was pretty fun. Food came out quickly and was quite flavorful. Our favorite was the calamari and asparagus that was served on a bed of charred green onion and squid ink. So much flavor!
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
This place is pure perfection, from the food to the decor. We loved the open modern space with diverse seating and menu. The menu is especially fascinating to read because it's prepared like a grid-- organized by ingredient and area of the world. A truly thoughtful and exciting eating experience. We ultimately decided to eat at the bar and enjoyed watching the show-- the chef's preparing and plating each unique meal. I went with the watermelon gazpacho which was absolutely incredible. Sweet, savory, refreshing, and perfectly seasoned with olive oil and fresh bread. I was craving sushi and ordered the sushi platter, which was stunning to look at and superbly fresh. I think the soy sauce was even homemade. AND-- I washed it all down with a Coke, because I am an American buffoon. A place I would eat at again, and again, and again. And I'd still order a Coke. They serve wine, too, if you're into that sort of thing.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here after or Gaudi tour under the suggestion of our tour guide. It's a very cute, rustic looking restaurant that reminds of a beer hall. Their menu is a fusion of all different tastes around the world. It's literally a matrix! I ordered the shrimp spicy noodle, and my boyfriend ordered a chicken curry. Both were very very good. I feel like this place does a very good job with all their dishes overall. So if your looking for a non-tapas restaurant that will please a big group, this is your spot! Prices are reasonable (for Barcelona). Definitely hit the spot after a hungry day's worth of touring!
google avatar

Ruhia J.

Yelp
The food tasted excellent here. The place is always busy but service was a bit lacking. The servers seemed cold and not interested in serving us. We ordered the spicy shrimp tagliatelle and seafood rice (paella). Both were wonderful. However when we ordered the server asks if we wanted bread and we responded yes. Later to find out there was a charge of €1.10 per person for bread. And they cleared the table of the bread before we had finished! Watch out for this in most places. Nothing is free! The food was fresh though and tasted great.
google avatar

Shah S.

Yelp
Absolute crap - let's start with the basics- the concept is nice - multiple cuisines in one attractive restaurant. Unfortunately, the execution is completely flawed. We ordered 3 entrees and a bunch of appetizers. The appetizers were decent. First entree arrive in less than 10 minutes. The second arrived 30 minutes later and they lost the 3rd one. The wait staff were inattentive and downright rude. The entrees were truly lacking. We ordered grilled octopus, pasta and fried rice. The octopus was tough and inedible. Pasta was average. Rice dish was lost and finally arrived 90 minutes after all the other entrees were served. It was terrible. This is Barcelona, there are way better places. Of course, on top of the bad service and poor food, this place is completely over priced. Save your money and time - go somewhere else.

Yelp
Cuines Santa Caterina was one of the restaurants that were recommended to us by a local as a restaurant that he takes his American friends to dine when they visit. Located in the Mercat de Santa Caterina, the decor of this restaurant is gorgeous. What I very much appreciated was the menu that an engineer can appreciate. It was a grid to break down their dishes by the type of cuisine in which the dish belonged, and the main ingredients it uses. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, and it did take a little while for a server to come ask us what we wanted, but they were also very busy, which I had a feeling was typical of the restaurant on most nights. We ordered three dishes, a mixed vegetable dish, a chorizo with foie gras dish, and a chicken paella. All three dishes were delicious, but I would have to say that the chorizo with foie gras dish was our favourite. I loved the chorizo, and my wife loved the foie gras. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you visit Barcelona.
google avatar

Easy G.

Yelp
Really really good tapas and some of the best crema catalan in Barcelona. We ordered the mushroom ravioli, gnocci, ham, & all kinds of delicious appetizers. Gambas al ajillo were just ok, the only thing I wouldn't order again. Its literally connected to the same market and pretty close to the cathedral. Great place to walk to and enjoy Barcelona.
google avatar

Lucas B.

Yelp
I was highly recommended to go to this restaurant by various friends and I expected the food to be spectacular due to the fact that it is placed right next to a Market, yet I was surprisingly left disappointed. I found the food to be good, but the menu was overly complicated as I couldn't decide what I actually wanted (too many options). Above this, I must have arrived on a wrong day as the plates I wanted were not available. I went a second day to see if the same problem pertained, and the food I wanted was there, but I was made to share a table with people you prefer not sharing a table with. I must have had quite the unusual expieince, though, because I only hear good comments of the place. One pro- Fresh Grilled Lobster for 22eur? Yes please!

Yuliya M.

Yelp
We came here again. Perfect place. This time we started with tapas, later took tuna ceviche - everything was a perfection!!! Btw there was a guy and a girl playing really good outside the place on the street which perfectly matched the mood - relaxing, romantic, Spanish!
google avatar

Ryan S.

Yelp
Loved this place! Got there right at opening and line was already forming for dinner. I wish I had 3 meals to try all the tapas here. Very reasonably priced for quality of good. Shrimp/gambas and garlic dish was amazing. Rosetta and ravioli dishes were excellent also. Lemon pie was excellent dessert. Would love to go back again!

Lorena R.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were visiting Barcelona. I've been to Spain many times before but this was my boyfriends first time. While walking around and trying to find somewhere to eat dinner, a local stopped us and told us about this great restaurant. The atmosphere of this restaurant is somewhere between a Spanish market and a restaurant. We loved that we could see the many chiefs doing their art. We ordered the Monkfish with Romesco and the Chicken & Shrimp fried rice. Both dishes were absolutely exceptional! I love that the menu is extremely diverse. You can get Mediterranean Spanish cuisine or Asian or American - whatever your heart desires. We also enjoyed the cheesecake and the sangria. Overall, a great experience in a great ambiance with great service in an even greater city!
google avatar

Todd B.

Yelp
I have been here on two separate visits to Barcelona, and each time it is one of my favorite food experiences of the year. The menu is diverse with offerings from Spain and Catalan, the Mediterranean, Italy and Asian cuisine. It's a great place to come with a family or group who have varieties of tastes. The food also is easily shared with most served in large portions. It always is difficult to choose, but this time I chose my two favorites: the paella with chicken and sausage, served generously in a large skillet, and the gambones shrimp served in garlic butter. The wine choices also are reasonable and perfectly Spanish. No visit to Barcelona is complete without sampling the cuisine here. Don't miss it, and you'll have a memorable experience of food and beautiful aesthetics.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
This was always a go-to spot for out-of-town visitors because its expansive menu covering so many different cuisines and dietary needs made it easy for groups and for people interested in something a bit more familiar. The fact that's in the Santa Caterina market made it even more fun for visitors. Plan to get here early - they don't take reservations and you'll have to wait, but it's not too bad as you can get a glass of wine and some tapitas at the bar while waiting. The menu is a crowd pleaser, and the food is great. Service is not so great, I find that the waiters definitely step it up for the tourists hoping to get a tip and then ignore the other diners, but this has come to be par for the course in the neighborhood and whole Old City in general. Simply put - if you're visiting BCN, this is a great spot for both dinner and lunch right in the Ribera district next to the Cathedral square.

Yelp
This was my first lunch in barcelona. It was delicious, all the seafood was very fresh. I reccomend the mussels al vino and the navajas. This place was packed so you have to be prepared to wait for a table! The staff are nice!

Yelp
This place is great for tapas- very light and fresh!! Chicken skewers were so tender, best chicken I've ever had. Amazing wine selection, really cute trendy vibes!

Yelp
Pretty overrated. Waited in line when it opened at 8pm. We were seated but had to wait 20 minutes for a waiter to come by. Others who waited around us already had bread and sangria. Strike one. The garlic shrimp was undercooked. The roasted lamb was pretty fatty and had no discernable added spices or herbs or even pepper. The ceviche was pretty good and the bread was substantial and warm. Again, after we ate we saw oil/vinegar on other tables. They didnt even ask. No help getting a second drink or dessert. We had the cheese plate which was pretty weird. Accompanied by sliced bananas? and a tomato compote. The cheeses seemed old and left out. No explanation from the waiter on which they were or about any dishes. Go to Tapeo or Bar La Pla instead. They were outstanding.

Yelp
A local friend recommended this place and we were so happy to go on our last night in Barcelona as we had had a ton of tapas that were all excellent but similar. We loved Cuines because they were asian fusion tapas, so we had sushi and spicy noodles along with some Spanish tapas. The atmosphere is cool and feels very current and fresh. They don't take reservations so we got there when they opened at 7:00pm and the queue filled the tables. Our service was efficient and matter of fact.

Yelp
DON'T GO THERE IF YOU HAVE REAL FOOD ALLERGIES. THEY DON'T TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY. I had been there many times, but the infamous day I stumbled upon this quite ignorant waitress, it ruined my whole meal. I did end up having an allergic reaction but was lucky enough that I could stop it with 2 antihistamines and 1 cortisone tablets. Not my idea of fun. I highly suggest the management get some information about allergies, they're a danger to the community. After the end of this disastrous meal I mentioned to a manager that we never got our water, that the desert was cold and their need to train their waiters properly. She brought in another manager. The later proceeded to give me gratuity for my meal - not my mom's, who was with me. We're putting our coats on when manager #1 comes back saying that I only get a 9€ discount on my meal......... Never seen such bad management, ever, no really, ne-ver.

Yelp
Sat at the bar as it was a bit crowded but I think you would get quicker service here anyway. This place is really busy with not enough waiters. Fresh produce is evident. Yummy mozzarella & tomato salad, Iberian cured ham and Cantonese fried rice. Avoid the gazpacho and definitely stay away from the garlic shrimp, it's not what you think. They were large pieces of shrimp that tasted equally as fishy as it smelled. It really left a bad taste in our mouths. The desserts looked great, especially the cheesecake, although we didn't get any.

Yelp
Wow... pleasant surprise. Great food in a fun atmosphere. Service matched the food quality. Menu is unique, plenty of variety, the reasonable prices a bonus. Highly recommend.
