Tennessee’s First Cat Cafe Opens in Nashville This Week | Eater Nashville

"It's time to stock up on allergy meds and lint rollers, as Tennessee’s first cat cafe prepares to open its doors in Nashville this Saturday. Mewsic Kitty Cafe, located at 2519 Nolensville Rd. in the Woodbine neighborhood, is the first of several cat-centric ventures slated to open in Middle Tennessee; owners Maegan and Thien Phan have partnered with local non-profit Nashville Cat Rescue and plan to host up to 15 cats at a time that will live on property until adopted or up to three weeks before going back to foster care, with all adoption fees going directly to the rescue group. In line with the model for other cat cafes, Mewsic will take reservations and charge for its play dates—starting at $12 an hour for regular “meet and greets,” with prices increasing for special events such as yoga. Beverage and food offerings are secondary to the cafe’s feline friends but include a self-serve coffee bar featuring Bongo Java, Switter’s iced coffee, kombucha, tea, and pastries from The Wild Muffin and vegan bakery Leeuw. Initial hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday through Sunday." - Matt Rogers

The Cat Cafe Trend Is Poised to Pounce on Middle Tennessee in 2018 | Eater Nashville

"I learned that Mewsic Kitty Cafe, founded by Maegan and Thien Phan after several successful pop-ups, has locked down a permanent Woodbine storefront and taken over the former Red Bicycle Coffee & Crepes space; building plans have been submitted to Metro Codes and are awaiting approval. Because of local health department rules and the limitations of the space, I understand the cafe will offer a limited menu of high-quality hot coffee, tea, bottled beverages, and food items made locally or regionally, and will partner with Nashville Cat Rescue to supply adoptable felines." - Matt Rogers

Just visited today. The cats are all given their own individual approach to how they are cared for. It’s very important to address a cat’s needs based on their personality, past experiences, etc. and the owner made sure of it. The cats seem very content and comfortable with humans. They have lots of space to roam around and play. I’m glad that there were rules to respect the cats, like to walk slowly and talk in quiet voices. Overall, it was a great experience. I’m going come back and bring my friend, who’s also a cat enthusiast like me 🤣

Google
Super friendly staff who truly care about their cats. They work with cats to give them the best life/care possible. They work with feral and shy cats as well to acclimate them better for adoption. They also work with cats who have different health conditions and give them the best care possible. All of the cats were so gentle and outgoing, they were super cuddly, and so playful. Such a great experience I can’t recommend enough.

So impressed with the care and compassion for the cats demonstrated here! The owners were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The facility is spacious, open, clean, and welcoming. It’s quite obvious the well-being of the cats is the utmost priority. Enjoyable afternoon for three generations of family. We’ll be back!

Google
wonderful experience !!! came here on a day off just to relax & i had such a great time. the owner is super sweet & he & the staff there genuinely care about the cats. they have a great process to introduce new cats into their cafe, so all the cats get along really well. they have little cat shaped cookies & a gift shop where all proceeds go towards the cats !!! highly recommend for something fun to do a little outside boston or if you’re looking to adopt too, i would 100% recommend adopting from them :)

This is the coolest place I’ve ever been. I came here with family as the first stop on our Boston/Salem trip, and it really set the tone for the day in a great way. The cats and are friendly and sweet, and as a cat person myself, it was nice to get my cat fix when I’m missing my guys back home. The owner is a really cool guy, too. We had some good conversations about cat cafes and other shared interests. I grabbed a couple of great books for my classroom from the library there, and the merch is great, so I had to buy some. Overall, it was just a great experience. We will definitely be back next time we make the trek up to Boston.

Google
Absolutely loved my visit here! The café is cozy, clean, and well-organized, and the cats are just adorable. You can tell they’re well cared for and comfortable around people. The staff was friendly and made the experience even better. Relaxing atmosphere, and the perfect place to unwind with some furry company. I’ll definitely be back! I bought some toys for my cats and they love it.

Google
This place was awesome! You can tell that all the cats are loved dearly and taken care of in a way I don't think they'd get in a traditional shelter setting. The cats were all friendly, adorable, and the space allowed the cats a lot of room to roam around and get space when they needed it. Giving the cats some treats was a nice touch. This was my first ever experience at a cat cafe and I don't think it could have gone better. I 100% support what these people are doing here and I will most certainly be back.

Yelp
Lovely spot to play with kitties and support a wonderful nonprofit. The owner Ori is so friendly and knowledgeable. All the cats are rescues that were in shelters longer than 2 months. The owner knows everything about each cat (ie. personalities, dietary needs) and you can tell each cat is treated like royalty. They have fun merchandise like shirts, candles, cookies and tote bags for purchase. They offer fun activities and events too. Great place to bring kids: coloring supplies, picture books and toys. Reservations required. Loved discovering this spot and we look forward to returning!

Yelp
My spouse and I had a wonderful time during our first visit, thanks to Uri, who made the experience absolutely perfect. The kitties were kind, loving, and absolutely purrfect. Food and drinks are available as well! The space is large enough for everyone to have fun with all the different cats. We will definitely be returning to spend more time with these delightful cats!

Yelp
I mean, come on ... it is a cat cafe - what's not to love! I have been to others and they always seem a little sketchy, but this place is run very well and is very clean. They are very knowledgeable about their borders, and you can tell they love them but are not obsessive about them. They do have drinks and noshy things for you to buy and enjoy while being in the world of these kitties, but they also welcome you to bring in your own treats.

Yelp
The owners and staff are so sweet, the space is inviting and fun (there are cat-themed books and games), and the kitties are adorable! You can feel just how much love the owners and staff have for these cats.

Yelp
This place was so cute! I forget the woman's name that was helping out that day but she was very sweet. There were nice cookies too for sale. The cats were so cute. The only thing I didn't realize was that kids would be there. I think it's 8+ which is good, but when I went there were 2 girls both probably 8 years old that made me wish there were some reservations for adults only. Then I realized I was at a cat cafe which obviously would attract kids so maybe it's a me problem. Other than that everything was amazing!!! We got to feed the cats treats too it was such a great experience as I do not have a cat of my own so I had a lot of fun.

Yelp
fun beautiful great wonderful can't compare to the rest upbeat interesting cool charming best!

Yelp
These four legged friends are so very well kept and loved until they are set to go to their forever after homes. I am working for several months on the island of Kona and had to leave "my sweet babies" at home. The Kitty Cat Cafe lets you come in, pet and play with their cats. I had soooooo much fun and will be doing it again today BTW - the Owner and her husband are absolutely FABULOUS

Nicole D.

Yelp
It's rare that you get to meet someone in life that is so passionate about what they do, and if you haven't met someone like that yet, then go to the Kitte Cat Cafe. You should also go because the cats are super cute but what makes the experience special is the people that own the business. My boyfriend and I went and were greeted my one of the owners, Uri. You can tell that he genuinely appreciates every person that comes through the door. Working with cats (especially cats that have been in a shelter) is all about respecting their boundaries and meeting them where they're at. You can tell that the owners have taken this mentality and applied it to their business. Uri was kind and engaged with everyone who wanted to chat. He was an incredible advocate and source of knowledge when it came to his vendors and their products (like the catnip kickers). It's important to support local businesses but this one in particular is one that should be supported a little extra.

Yelp
What a great new addition to the area in terms of a kitty cat café where you can get your cat fix as well as meet Wonderful cats for adoption. The owner, Uri, is one of the nicest people and you can tell he truly loves the cats and he and his wife have a really wonderful nonprofit business to support the local rescue shelters and help find cats their new homes. We had to travel all the way to San Diego to find a cat café and it is so nice to have one locally now as our daughter's favorite animal is a cat and we can't on one due to allergies my other family members. We will definitely be back to support and encourage others to do the same.

Liz M.

Yelp
This is an amazing cat cafe!! You can visit with up to 10 or so kitties who are available for adoption, in a super-friendly and comfortable environment. Guests who just love cats are welcomed even if not planning to adopt. It's a very spacious area filled with sofas, cat toys, kitty beds etc. and cats roam as they wish. The humans there are very friendly too! You can also purchase baked treats or beverages to bring in with you (or bring your own). The fee to attend the cafe goes to support the good work being done to provide these kitties with what they need. I've visited twice so far and plan to return.

Yelp
