I must say this is one of my favorite pubs that I have visited. The atmosphere and decor was awesome. The bartender was very friendly and had no problem asking questions. She made my visit even better. I had a vodka and cranberry and it was delicious. I also had the Reuben fritter, which was fantastic, I did not let the dish that was advertised at being on diners, dives, and drives influence my overall experience of the dish. The fritters spoke for themselves. I spent a total of $22 minus tip well worth a visit. They must keep that bartender around as well.

Google
First time going there and it was absolutely amazing. Food was delicious and the waitress was very good. They even brought out a shot for my husband's birthday. We will definitely go back.

Google
We really enjoyed our lunch here. We plan to go back for dinner sometime soon. It reminded us of the pubs we visited in Ireland. 🇮🇪 We drove about 2 hrs to get there and it was worth it.

Madelyn Kamly

Google
Had one of the best dinners of my life here last night. We tried out a whiskey fig lamb special that was absolutely delicious, the shepherd's pie was killer, and the tuna special was perfection. Such a cozy place. Will definitely have to come here for dinner more often!

Google
Great experience all around. We had dinner and drinks. Standouts were the Shepherd's Pie, potato cakes, and the whiskey selection.

Google
Good place, great food! Music was too loud, very hard to talk across the table. Other than that, great atmosphere. Recommend.

Google
This has by far been the best place I have eaten so far in my 4 weeks staying in Syracuse. For the quality and the taste of the food for the cost... it was amazing. The staff were pleasant and cheerful. There is a large selection of beers and drinks. The food had so much flavor and I don't normally eat Irish soda bread, but I couldn't get enough of what they served me. I will make numerous returns to eat at this restaurant again.

Traveling Kafka

Google
I travel a lot and try to visit local restaurants. I stayed across the street and went here. Great choice— the food was good and a good variety of beer and whiskey. I had the lamb slider. I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Classic Irish pub in Syracuse, it's perfect. Sure, it's been Americanized a bit but that's okay. You can't expect it not to adapt! The hostess was able to find a table for me in the back with a power outlet and so this was my afternoon "office" today. I was here for about three hours in the back dining room. It didn't manage to get too busy that I felt I was taking up a table so it was cool. A tasty local beer followed by an order of their "Irish cannonballs." Great stuff. A ball of corned beef with swiss cheese and sauerkraut all formed into a ball and deep fried for a moment. They were absolutely fantastic and would be a perfect starter dish. For me, afternoon snack. It was a perfect afternoon hangout with beer, food and while I wasn't able to find a wifi, my hotspot worked great. [Review 1536 of 2024 - 452 in New York - 22559 overall]

Yelp
My family and I were driving through Syracuse and decided to stop here for dinner since the menu had a lot of good-sounding options. Initially, I had planned to order a sandwich, but the waitress was stand-off ish and not very helpful in answering my questions (eg what is bacon rasher? What is champ?) so I panicked and ordered a salad because that seemed like a safer option. The food came out quick but sadly, the "Summer Berry Salad" ended up being a pile of limp spinach, mushy berries, and dry chicken. It had absolutely no flavor and was unenjoyable to eat. I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries but they were flavorless and soggy. There's no nice way to put it - this meal/dining experience was just bad and very disappointing.

Yelp
A pretty solid and consistent place to have food and/or drink. I love the ambiance. Just a bit rustic and down-to-earth. We have only been there for lunch. The sandwiches are well made and a single sandwich with fries is enough for my wife and I to split. The service is great. The bartenders are excellent and pour a mean drink. The Guinness is great. They made my wife and I feel like locals. We visit here every time we visit Syracuse. Please give it a try.

Yelp
Always a fun hot spot when venturing around Syracuse! Love the lively Irish pub atmosphere and especially with festive holiday lights and decor! Live music playing the last few times we have stopped in for a cocktail. It packs in a pretty big crowd with standing room only but we are still able to get drinks in a timely manor. The bartenders really hustle at peak times. The establishment has been around as long as I can remember and before I was of legal drinking age and still remains popular with all age groups!

Yelp
Love this establishment! They have great cocktails and greater food! Some culinary standouts are the Irish poutine with pork belly starter and the shepherds pie large plate! They have Magners on tap which is a favorite of mine, and I'm a big fan of the Gin-gle Bells cocktail. The service has always been grand, and the food always comes out promptly. The vibes are quintessential Irish pub, and make for a great cozy night out.

Yelp
This place exceeds expectation's...I had the Irish meatloaf as featured in food network and it did not disappoint (chef's kiss ). Happened to be hear the Saturday before Halloween and the staff really got into the spirit!!! My son had the Reuben and it was also amazing...the place is a very authentic Irish pub. Perfectly poured Guinness every time. If you want to sit at a table make sure you make a reservation as the place has earned its popularity!!!

Yelp
This is a very lovely and welcoming Irish Pub! The inside decoration really reminds you of a traditional Irish Pub, even though, we have never been to the Isle. It is always great to feel transported this way and feel like you are in the home country. The food was absolutely and insanely delicious, especially my wife's fish and chips, which she decided to replace the fries for Onion Soup. The fish was huge, it looked like they had just taken it out of the sea, because of the size. It was perfectly crisp and soft and flaky on the inside. The Tartar Sauce pairing was perfection and I am coming back, just for this plate alone. The onion soup with Guinness stock was to die for. You can taste the beer, but it was not over powering, excellent blend of flavor and spices and cooked to perfection as well. My daughter had the steak bleu Caesar, but she set aside the blue cheese. She really loved it and I tried a bit and it was really good. The steak was cooked to her desire, which is normally medium and as you can see from the picture, it was pink inside, just the right temperature for this plate. My Irish Smoked Ham Sandwich was very juicy and smokey, you can really feel the flavors coming out of this sandwich and I loved that they added butter, maybe mayo, to the bread to make it crispy and crunchy, the way a perfect sandwich should be. The sweet potatoes were also delicious, very crunchy and crispy as well and you can taste the sweetness of the potatoes. More than anything, we loved the attention, we felt at home at the pub and the place was beautiful, clean and very well decorated. Sláinte!!

Yelp
Best meatloaf on earth, period. The meat had incredible flavor of the lamb and beef. The veggies were also better than I've had in a long time. The service was great, we sat at the bar and everything from the service, food and atmosphere were spot on. I enjoyed the staff as well. There not anything negative to say about this place other than it's not anywhere near where I live so I don't get to visit unless I'm in Syracuse. But I will say if you visit you need to check this place out and get the meatloaf. I hear fish and chips are good as well. Happy Fooding!!

Yelp
My sister in law was raving about the shepherds pie and insisted I come to lunch with her to try it and boy am I glad I did. We started off with some Reuben fritters and fresh oysters. I did not expect to like the fritters based off the ingredients listed but I actually really enjoyed them. The oysters were fresh and brined well just how I like them. I ordered a cosmopolitan that was perfectly made, not too strong but also not weak. The shepherds pie was DELICIOUS! I will probably be calling to order some to go on a cold and rainy day where I just want to relax in the house with some good food. It has all the makings of a perfect comfort food day. Mashed potatoes, ground sirloin, peas, carrots, & gravy. What's not to love about that!! It was very tasty. The staff is attentive and friendly, this is a great place to check out!

Yelp
A wonderful traditional Irish experience that I came up on by sheer coincidence, having been passing through the area on business. The decor was spot on, hearkening back to the pubs I stumbled through in Ireland only a year earlier. As I was in a bit of a rush I merely ordered a Guinness and Shepard's Pie for my meal. Most places I've been to mess up the ratio of ingredients when it comes to Shepard's Pie, so I was quite happy when it came out in what I can only describe as, "just right". Service was great of course; very friendly. Definitely plan on stopping by again if I'm ever in Syracuse again.

Yelp
this is such a great spot for some comfort food in winter! we had great service and the food was delicious

Yelp
The Best Irish food around! Every staff member is super friendly and goes above and beyond. If you are in Syracuse this is a must try. I have tried several items and special drinks and LOVE them all!

Yelp
Once again Kitty Hoynes delivers! A great lunch to kick off the long weekend. Service was great and the food was timed as expected. Will be back again!

Rick H.

Yelp
The foot was really good. I tried the Reuben balls ( basically a fritter) that was wonderful and the. The Shepherds pie that was equally wonderful

Yelp
1st class Irish breakfast complete with black and white pudding. Took me right back home to the UK.

Yelp
Classic Irish pub with friendly service, solid drinks and excellent food. The Irish poutine was delicious, with a hearty rich gravy and recommend adding the pork belly.
google avatar

JJ G.

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere! It's one of the top two places to get a true Guinness pour in this town. Food is reasonably priced and excellent. Service at the bar was top shelf and I don't say that often. Check my reviews lol. I will definitely be back and recommend.

Yelp
Typical Irish pub - cute on the inside with a nice large horseshoe bar with plenty of room for patrons. We were there in a Wednesday evening and the place was packed. The bartenders did a fantastic job keeping up with the throngs of people. We didn't eat here so I cannot attest to the food quality.

Moses B.

Yelp
In towm for the retro gaming con, We had tomato Guinness beef soup, salmon, shepherds pie, pesto chicken sandwich, and mac&cheese.... prison city mass riot ipa, all were delicious. A must return

Bridget S.

Yelp
Food and bar service is great. The hostess was extremely rude and therefore ruined our experience.

Yelp
Overall good place for food in down town syracuse that specializes in all the Irish dishes you could want. There is a large bar and several areas to stand or sit in the bar area, popular place and does get busy. I have never gone for a sit down meal but I have eaten at the bar and the food I had was good. They have outdoor eating in the warmer months which I do believe is dog friendly.

George G.

Yelp
We loved the food and the service was perfect! Great spot to grab a beer or get a bite to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok. So this place is a bit loud when you walk in but so worth it. I nabbed a quick Irish beer and asked for some poutine as a side and holy wow was it great! Now it might have some dark beer listed but the onion soup mix added to it was killer and the cheese to fry and gravy mix with green onion was brilliant. I had a small bite before my steak Caesar salad and I'm glad I did bc the salad was even pretty darn legit too. Perfect amount of everything evenly dispersed all around. Great visit and our waitress was awesome. Asked her about another beer on tap and she was like that almost like a bud light and I said stop talking I'll have the other and thanks! Service was fairly quick with how busy it was and everything else was just great. Hope to stop by again if we are in town again!

Yelp
Located right downtown. There is nice ambiance and you can sit either inside or at cute tables right outside on the sidewalk. Very friendly and efficient service. Lots of drinks to choose from which is nice. The food is decent but not particularly special.
google avatar

Kiesha H.

Yelp
Somebody keep me out of that place I am addicted!! LOL Guinness to perfection! Macaroni and cheese with pork belly. Somebody get the chef!!!! He/she put heart and soul into it. Had it about 4 times and I swear it keeps getting better. I can't believe I don't have a picture. But I will be back!!! Everyone deserves a day off so I'm not mad but I dread Sun & Mon when they are closed. The ambiance is perfect. Service good.

Yelp
I will start this as I always do by saying I do not give out five stars unless I am really blown away. It has been a few year since my last visit to this Syracuse staple. Not much has changed and that is a good thing. The ambiance still has that great Irish pub like feel with the dim lighting and the celtic decor. We sat in the bar area and the bartender Pete waited on us. He took our drink orders right away and served them to us with a smile. He made polite conversation with us while we ordered and checked on us often. The food came out promptly and did not disappoint. We had some Rueben Fritters. They were very tasty with or without the dipping sauce. I had the Meatloaf and it was good but I think it was better last time I had it. The sauce on the plate was drinkable it was so good mixed into the cooked vegetables and mashed potatoes. I ate the whole plate even though I was full before it was gone. My wonderful lovely fiancé had the Shepards pie and once again she thought it was delicious. If you love gravy this pie is for you. All about the gravy baby!! If you have never been here change that! This place is worth the stop. Take it off the list of places you have been meaning to try and put it on the list of Syracuse Staples you have been to.

Yelp
Such a nice bar! Visiting Syracuse this week and came in for a late night drink. Loved the vibe in here and the staff was so nice. I wanted to get a tshirt and the manager came over to help me...I think her name was Alexa? She was so friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend that you check it out.
google avatar

Cassie C.

Yelp
This is NOT your average pub. Sure you can expect great drafts on tap, but what you might not expect is the fantastic food here! From the lamb lollipops to the fish n' chips, every item I had was absolutely delicious. Let's not forget those cocktails! Looking for a solid margarita? Found it! In the mood for a Hot Toddy on a cold day? It's here! An easy crowd favorite here in Syracuse.

Michelle K.

Yelp
We were greeted and seated immediately without a reservation, we were originally asked if we wanted to sit in the bar area, I was a little reluctant, but it was awesome and the food was amazing. I'm going back because I did not get to try everything that I wanted to
google avatar

Erin F.

Yelp
This place was great! The menu had a lot of variety and they had a huge drink menu including all kinds of ciders. There were three of us and we all loved our meals.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
If you prefer Irish whiskey, this place is the damn tits! If you just like Irish pubs, there's no better. If you're just looking for a bar to get a beer? Please move on! This place is too busy for posers.

Yelp
REUBEN FRITTERS Handmade corned beef "Irish Cannonballs", Swiss, cream cheese, sauerkraut, Guinness whole grain honey mustard were excellent. Honey mustard hint of horse radish. Reuben Sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing, marble rye. Was OK. SMOKED CORNED BEEF In-house smoked corned beef brisket, Guinness wholegrain mustard, spicy serious slaw, Guinness BBQ, Dubliner cheddar, spinach, multigrain. So so. Meat was very tough. CHICKEN SANDWICH. Roasted red peppers, Dill Havarti cheese, grilled onion, spinach, Dijon aioli, 7-grain roll. Was good. Great beer selection. Service was very attentive and friendly. If you make a reservation specify main dining room unless you want to be by the bathroom, bar and traffic.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my dinner at this pub. The place is decorated old school which it makes it special and cozy. The hostess was so sweet and kind, she let me pick my table. I felt so hungry that day that I ordered fish and chips which was so good and I ate all the fries and all the fish. The waiter was very friendly and sweet too. Parking was hard to find.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. The Reuben Fritters are worth it! Our waitress was excellent, attentive to our needs but not overly zealous. The location is great and the building itself was very cool.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to visit this Syracuse staple for the first time! The place is deceivingly huge on the inside and be aware that despite that, there is almost always a line out the door to get in on weekends. My friend had been telling me I had to try the shepherds pie for the 4 years I've known him, so when we had the chance to duck inside last night, you know we did! Our waitress was nice, out food came out PROMPTLY! I was super surprised, but the place was also very *not* packed last night, so it makes sense. Food came out hot. The shepherds pie WAS good! My friends tried the crispy potato appetizer which they said was good and yes, crispy. And the fish n chips was good but there are other local places with better fish n chips! The soda bread that was served with my shepherds pie was cold and I was not a huge fan, but my friends took it off my hands so it was still a win. The inside was cozy, and there was live music. We were seated in the back area, which was literally on the other side of the wall, and the doors are so sealed that you can bearly hear the music so if you want to enjoy a quiet evening you still can! I'm giving my review a 4 star because it wasn't as amazing as the hype, but still a nice place to go. I personally wouldn't wait in line out the door for the food I tried but I'm glad I got to duck in when it was slower so I could try for myself.

Yelp
Amazing menu options and service! The food was delicious, especially the stout onion soup and Reuben balls. Atmosphere was fun and they're very accommodating. I highly recommend!

Anthony C.

Yelp
5 iron down the fairway, every time. Never disappointed. Traditional Irish pub. Nice whiskey selection. Comfort food at its finest.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Kitty Hoynes is very nice sit down Irish pub. It has great atmosphere, food and service. Of course every time I've it's been pretty busy, so service might be a little slow but you get to enjoy the surroundings and company. A great place to eat for small and larger groups. A Syracuse landmark that is worth visiting!
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
Always a great place to eat and have a pint of Guinness. David Hoyne is a fantastic owner operator. The Mussels are to die for
google avatar

Tara R.

Yelp
My husband, friend and I stopped in here for a couple drinks before heading back to our hotel right across the street. The bartender was super friendly and provided great service. I would have loved to have a meal here but unfortunately I wasn't in town lont enough. My husband, on previous trips to Syracuse, has eaten here and highly recommends it. I'll be back!
google avatar

Dina C.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly service with great atmosphere, especially the outdoor seating in early summer!
google avatar

Max D.

Yelp
When I come here it's mostly for drinks and enjoying the authentic Irish pub experience. The few times I have eaten here the food has been great and looks and tastes authentically Irish. They have music on weekends and it isn't too loud and you can go in the back if you'd prefer a more quiet area.

Jude E.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to try the city to eat. Where we live is mostly Burger king and this type of fast food. Online we saw they accepted reservations for lunch so being it very close to St Patrick's Day we made them for noon. Very easy to do on their website. She loves Reuben's and ordered that with Champ! I ordered the Shepherd's pie. This was very well worth the trip in. She took half her sandwich home because it was huge. The Shepherds Pie was awesome. We were too full to order the desserts but I saw some being delivered to another table. I bet they're amazing. We both said we would love to return again soon. I gave this five stars as they deserved it. Parking was not bad either. I was able to park on the street right in front of it. I just wish the meters weren't there. I'm not good with trying to figure out those requirements. It was really cute in there as well. The server and hostess were very sweet. Thanks for an enjoyable time.
google avatar

Todd K.

Yelp
Incredible Irish pub, it's one of the landmarks that Syracuse has homegrown. The food is absolutely fantastic. It has a great balance of "safe dishes", and Irish fare. The service is always fantastic. Never had a problem in there ever. Never had to ask for a refill. The ambience is fantastic. They have a great wood paneling around the place. There's tons of Irishcentric posters, and whiskey bottles. Can't say enough about this fantastic pub and restaurant!
google avatar

Ben O.

Yelp
I love the food and music here. Many bars claim to be Irish in this town, but this one is the most authentic.
google avatar

Joe G.

Yelp
Authentic Irish pub that definitely lives up to Guy Fieris hype on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives! I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. During the warmer months it is a great place to sit outside. I highly suggest the onion stout soup!
google avatar

Amy N.

Yelp
Delicious food and amazing service--will definitely be returning. Purposefully didn't go during live music, so can't speak to that experience.

Dar B.

Yelp
The Reuben fritters are exactly what I was hoping for. Highly recommend. Coupled it with a coffee stout and the steak and blue Caesar salad at the suggestion of my server and I wasn't disappointed one bit. Nice atmosphere and super friendly staff.
