16 Soul-Soothing Noodle Soups in Portland

"Portlanders no longer need to drive out to the western suburbs to visit this ramen spot. The Portland Food Hall location of Kizuki serves its stellar garlic tonkotsu, a 16-hour pork broth topped with a jammy soft-boiled egg, a thin slice of chashu, menma, bean sprouts, and nori, with tender, hand-massaged noodles. It’s Kizuki’s most popular noodle soup for a reason." - Nick Woo, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
I asked for a spicy ramen and they for sure delivered. In fact it may have even surprised me for how spicy it was. The noodles had a great texture and the broth was tasty. The service was fast and the servers were friendly.

Matthieu Carver

Google
The food was quick, convenient, and of excellent taste and quality! If you're looking for good Takoyaki, they have it! The interior decor evokes a traditional izakaya, but mixed with a quick-service food-hall. Would definitely recommend!

Google
This bowl of ramen was so delicious and so flavorful!! The staff was lovely and answered any questions my friend and I had and they gave wonderful recommendations as well. The atmosphere is amazing too and it was very cozy.

Google
Best ramen i’ve had in a long time. Brandon was our server/bartender and he was amazing. He was extremely helpful, personable, and accommodating. Definitely plan on coming back, especially with his service!

Adam Nott

Google
Excellent ramen and izakaya spot located inside a cozy food hall. Service is quick, the noodles are delicious, and there's plenty of seating on tables, at the bar, or at the second floor.

Stephen Flores

Google
Such a unique experience to be in a food hall getting Ramen. I will say the customer service was great and the serving of food was good, but the Ramen was a bit too salty for my liking. I would still give it a try.

Yana Melikzade

Google
Amazing Ramen!! Loved the atmosphere here as well, with the open seating and just how cozy it felt. Definitely worth trying them out. Not to mention that fact it’s just a bunch of restaurants in one open space .. love it!!

Lailian Park

Google
I got my ramen with spicy levels mild. Can’t believe it was actually pretty spicy hahaha. It tasted so good, I loved the meat and the boiled egg too! There were asian broccoli in it,which was very rare in USA. I believe the cooks are local

Yelp
The vegetable broth is well seasoned and the veggies are fresh. I switched out the mushroom for fresh jalapeños, which added a nice kick to it. And noodles are savory and tasted great. I did wish for the extra cost that we would get more tofu than what we got. It is a relatively cheap protein to only put in a couple pieces, and it would've given our ramen more value for the price. Otherwise it's still worth the try!

Yelp
This Kizuki ramen is located in a food-court style kind of establishment in downtown Portland. There is plenty of seating and the space itself is big and spacious. Service here was pretty speedy. You order at the counter and once your order is ready, you come to the counter to pick it up. My boyfriend and I came for dinner one day and got their Tsukemen Dipping Noodles, Tonkatsu Ramen w/ Pork Belly, and Takoyaki. Everything was delicious. The tonkatsu ramen broth was rich and flavorful. And the takoyaki was pretty standard--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and so full with toppings. It was delicious. I especially loved their tsukemen dipping noodles. I've rarely had ramen like this and it was delicious, from the veggies to the broth to the bamboo and pork. I loved it. Highly recommend this spot for reliable ramen.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch / early dinner so there weren't a lot of people around. Was very hungry and tired. No one was at the cash register, so I had to wait a few minutes for someone (very friendly) to come up. I was worried at first that I came when the restaurant was closed. I looked for a restroom after ordering, saw I needed a code, then came back to ask for the code but had to wait a few minutes again as the employee had disappeared to the back again. I ordered the tonkotsu garlic ramen with woodear mushroom and less sodium. This ramen was noted to be popular on the menu and on Reddit, and I am a garlic lover. I appreciated the complimentary oolong tea and water. The ramen itself was flavorful and garlicky, and loved the egg and generous noodles. But it was not a favorite. Looking for a deeper flavor. I think the menu said it was supposed to be spicy as well (unless I'm mistaken) but I couldn't taste any heat. This is the first place I've been to though with a less-sodium option, and I really appreciate that. If I visit the area again I would be willing to try a different broth (maybe not pork-based, see if I can add some heat), and perhaps come at a time when an employee is more regularly hanging out at the cash register. 3.5/5 for the food, minus half a star for the friendly but somewhat absent service.

Yelp
Definitely recommend this place! Visited Portland from LA and looked into Ramen places and this place caught our attention. Loved everything from the tonkotsu ramen to the happy hour drinks! So so delicious! The workers were very nice and very welcoming! If I ever come back to Portland I would definitely come back for sure! The place is like a mini food court and had a bar and two other restaurants inside. Very clean and chill place and good music!
google avatar

Ivan K.

Yelp
Takoyaki was good but pretty greasy, I loved the salmon skin flakes a lot though! It was more filling than ramen cause of the sauces and lots of oil. Still, better than other places. Also, the workers almost never smile but I guess that's ok as long as the food is good :) it's not super crowded and the music isn't too loud. I'd be back only if I'm in the area though :)

Yelp
The food hall has a cozy ambiance and the staff was friendly! Chicken rich's broth was alright, not very rich. But, the yuzu broth was something new and I'm glad I gave it a try; the hint of lemon was delicious. And the karaage was my favorite plate! sooo flavorful and amazing texture !!

Yelp
I was so glad to see there was one closer to me. I absolutely love their Beaverton location. Their ramen feels like a delicious hug to the stomach. It's perfect on a cold day. I tried the garlic Tonkotsu shoyu ramen because the menu said it was limited quantity. Something about that really was a siren call for me. The broth was really rich and fragrant. It was very porky. Noodles were perfectly done, soft but with a good amount of bounce to them. There's other broths I want to try from them and I can't wait for my next visit.

Yelp
Kizuki ramen was a hit in the food court. No food fights here, but I was able to eat spicy miso ramen on a wonderful thursday lunch. The broth was flavorful, tasty, and warm. The noodles with toppings were and excellent grouping of textures and tastes. Overall, there was good balance with all the ingredients. Very solid spot.

Yelp
omg first night in oregon. we NEEDED food. were starving. so we decided to eat ramen on our first night. literally funny af because why was our first thought asian food. well we were gonna eat at pleasure burger cuz it's like tik tok famous but it was CLOSED and they didn't say it was closed but it was. and then we walked around then i saw a food court nearby so we stopped by but the only place that was open was the RAMEN. bruh so we had no choice. it was silly because the people who took our order and cooked our food were hispanic. but it was good food so i cannot judge. also california is just like that so it's fine LOL. but the culture shock i received going to other asian restaurants cannot be understated. my friends LOVED their ramen. mine was good but it wasn't the best. like i have had better. but it was still really good. i got dry noodles with dipping sauce cuz i wasn't THAT hungry for broth too. but i ate it up. the mushrooms and bamboo were so good. honestly a solid place to go for dinner. 4 stars!

Yelp
Very good ramen and katsu. I had just returned from Jaoan and found their dishes here to be authentic and yummy!

Yelp
Kizuki is kind of hidden within the Food Hall downtown. There are plenty of places to sit though! Perfect place to get some ramen downtown and Milk+T is also in the same food hall if you like bubble tea. We ordered the karaage don ($14), octopus takoyaki ($9), garlic tonkatsu ($16.50), and chicken karaage ($8). Everything was delicious! The tonkatsu broth was really hearty and warm. The chicken karaage was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It paired really well on a bed of salad and rice. The izakaya karaage had a side of spicy mayo, but the dressing for the karaage don was more like a sesame dressing. The sesame dressing tasted so good with the salad! The portion was quite big, so I think it was worth trying for $14. There were big pieces of octopus in the takoyaki and it tasted especially great with the bonito flakes and sauces on top! They also give a complimentary cup of hot oolong tea, so that was a nice surprise to my meal. Worth coming in if you're craving for ramen or a rice bowl and you're in the area. :)

Yelp
We ate here for dinner, got the yuzu shio ramen, garlic tonkotsu ramen, a geso fry, and a large chashu don. The workers were nice and the ramens were delicious. We were full after the noodles and geso fry so we ended up taking the chashu don togo. We just opened the box to eat it and noticed something weird on one of the pieces of meat. They look like fly eggs so we tossed the whole box. We're pretty sure no flies got to it while in our possession as it has been in a bag and in the fridge until now, so we can only assume the establishment leaves their meat out in the open and exposed.  While the foods we had last night were delicious, we feel quite sick thinking that we may have ingested something when we were not paying attention.

Yelp
Can never go wrong with Kizuki ramen!!! Takes a bit time to get the order done but it's worth the wait!!!!

Yelp
This is my first time going to this location. I usually go to the Kizuki location over near Beaverton. I never noticed this location is right next to Luc Lac. It's kind of hidden, I never noticed it. It's in a little food plaza kind of place. There's a few other little restaurants/places to get food from. This place may be my new preferred location. It's much more lowkey compared to the other location. It's in downtown PDX so you'll have to pay for parking during certain times during the week. You order and pay first & are given a buzzer. You can grab some water from the water station, pick a table, and sit down. After you're done eating, there's bins for you to put your bowls and such. Food is just a good as any other kizuki location. Came out faster than the other place & they gave us free complimentary oolong tea! Definitely recommend the garlic tonkotsu or just the regular tonkotsu shoyu. They offer a less sodium option & I always get it. It's just as good as the regular but less sodium, which is important to watch when eating ramen. Chicken karaage is always nice and big & juicy. Also consider trying the edamame, tuna mayo onigiri, pork gyoza, or prawn cutlet! Some of my fave izakaya, I always rotate thru those options when I go. Ambiance is definitely more lowkey as mentioned before compared to the actual restaurant. This location is great if you're looking for a quick bite to eat & not so much a long dinner. It doesn't come with the full experience of decor & cool seating. But it is still just as good!

Yelp
Ended up coming here a second time on this work trip and got the agedashi and tempura. Both were delicious again but I thought we got less tempura the second time around.

Yelp
Decent ramen joint! I wanted to visit the food hall because there was so much rave around it and I came in on a Sunday and to my surprise, everything in the hall was closed except for this ramen spot lol. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered the most popular ramen there which was the garlic tonkotsu shoyu which came in a less sodium option since the cashier told me that the original could be very salty and that turned out to be a good pick. The broth is very flavourful, just enough salt, broth is garlicky and overall a good broth. Pork was very dry - I did not even eat it. Noodles were good so I can tell they were fresh. I also ordered the karage chicken which was bomb- it was super moist and thick pieces of chicken so that was good and it was well accompanied with the sauce. Overall, a decent place for ramen if you are in town!
google avatar

Sanjit K.

Yelp
Another great Portland Ramen place. These guys took over the great Marukin in the food hall space. Had the Spicy Ramen with pork, egg, sprouts, onions, broccoli. Excellent bone broth, perfect custards egg, delicious chew on the noodles! There are so many great x lRamen places in PDX, at this to the list!
google avatar

Carolyn L.

Yelp
I came here for lunch on Wednesday. It's not crowded and I was seated promptly by the kitchen. The chef was training a new employee and he seems to be very nice to his staff. I ordered a Hakata Ramen and chicken wings. The ramen is very good. The pork belly in the noodles are soft and tasty. Ramen is cooked perfect. Broth was so good that I finished the whole thing. Chicken wings on the other hand is so so. It's crispy and they got a citrus sauce on it. But the wing itself is bland.

Shannon G.

Yelp
Best ramen I've had in PDX. Spent a summer in Japan and while you can't 100% replicate the real thing, this is close. Always consistently good.
google avatar

Yelp
The tempura-don hit the spot for what I was craving.. big bowl of fried veggies on top of rice drizzled in sweet savory sauce. So warm and filling and great bang for my buck. The service is quick as well at this location

Michael S.

Yelp
What a great ramen spot. The broth is full of flavor, the noodles are curly and just a bit chewy. We also had the karaage salad, which was large and satisfyingly full of chicken. The dressing was fresh and had a great texture. They sell ramen kits, which have all you need for 2 servings made at home. Appreciate the extra help with the leftovers, the super swag to go bag was great. Thanks, Guys.
google avatar

Danni B.

Yelp
Eh. Food was just fine, tonkatsu shoyu ramen was very salty not much other flavor, the katsu was pretty inedible, very tough left it on the plate. I think they forgot to add alcohol to my drink, no one came to see if it was ok. For a 20% tip there was no service.
google avatar

Tannu S.

Yelp
It was my first time trying this place for ramen. They food is decently priced and they offer vegan options. The place is located in the middle of downtown with a food court like setting. The vegan ramen I tried was scrumptious. The broth was denser than I have imagined but it was complemented the noodles and vegetables well. The seaweed was cleaner tasting than some of the other places I had. I wouldn't mind a revisit to try those
google avatar

Yelp
Best Raman in San Mateo been going for 3 years love the vibes and food and very kind people and service
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
This food here was delicious! That's it! All I cna say. They either don't have A/C and no ceiling fans. So, if you're looking for a place to cool off and have a bite to eat, this place won't be the place to do so. Especially, if you sit upstairs. Heat rises. This is something to be fixed. Eating hot foods? Forget it! Bathrooms are clean and well stocked.

Jann Mari M.

Yelp
Kizuki is always my go to place when I want something good to eat. Their food tastes really good and you get your money's worth. The staff is always friendly and service is awesome. Even down to their to-go packaging, you see that they pay no expense to make sure the customer is taken care of. I always recommend this as a dinner option to my family and we enjoy our time at this restaurant! 100/10 always!
google avatar

Yelp
My sister and I were visiting Portland and she was very sick but had a tattoo appointment to get to. I asked Brandon for a suggestion for her upset stomach and he recommended the low sodium shoyu ramen with veggies on the side. I had the spicy ramen which was so garlicky and warming. When I got our food back to the hotel, Brandon had included a note of encouragement for my sister which was so kind and made her feel cared for. The ramen was delicious and everything was so well packed. Thank you Brandon and Kizuki!
google avatar

Marisol J.

Yelp
The ramen was sooo good! We were helped by Armando and he was very accommodating to our requests. The food came out quick and was very flavorful. Thank you! Highly recommend :)

Yelp
Great Ramen, perfect spice, great broth, had the Garlic Ramen and added our own spice. Don't forget to add the pork belly
google avatar

Theresa A.

Yelp
We typically go to the Cedar Mills location, but this one was closer to us this time around. Parking is off street downtown. We came here on a weekday and it was easy to find parking. The location is in a food hall with other restaurants and a bar. Counter was quick and friendly. They even offer hot tea if you ask for it! We sat at a communal table and they came and brought out our food. We ordered the geso karaage, house salad, spicy ramen, and garlic tonkotsu. It was delightfully delicious. Honestly, this place might be a taddd better than their Cedar Mills location and I was a big fan of that location! Ambiance was communal, open, and not as intimate.
google avatar

Flippy C.

Yelp
the ambiance is to door for, and the customer service is always immaculately done. The food is amazing too easy to eat leaving a need to get more.
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
Maybe my favorite ramen spot in Portland, so far!? The Chicken Shio Ramen was light and refreshing. Super easy to down the whole bowl. I like the ratio of noodles to toppings and protein that they give you. Also, the ramen egg was A+. They got a variety of ramens for you to choose from so I'll definitely be coming back to try other ones!
google avatar

Mary H.

Yelp
Incredible service! Food was great, Brandon was so attentive and a great host and made us really want to come back!
google avatar

Kathleen N.

Yelp
The restaurant is in a food hall/court building. Self service. They call your name and you grab your food and bust your own table. The veggie ramen broth was more dense than what I'm used to but still flavorful. The veggies balanced the ramen well. The Garlic Tonkotsu was good and very garlicky, so make sure you have a pack of mints handy!
google avatar

Kate R.

Yelp
This was great! The vegetarian ramen was good although we should have asked for it to be spicier. The sides were great. The service was really fast and the staff was knowledgeable. The restaurant is a good lunch option type and the grocery store next-door is always worth a trip.
google avatar

Fred W.

Yelp
I discovered this little gem on Yelp. This location is in the Portland Food Hall. The food was amazing and the karaage chicken is out of this world. The service was fast and attentive. The atmosphere and ambiance is a nice retreat from the rest of the hustle and bustle of Portland. I definitely recommend this spot if you are seeking a great spot for ramen!
google avatar

Leyna Q.

Yelp
Found this place just walking by. Nice atmosphere and lovely employees. The ramen was super yummy. I would love to come here again!
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
This place is nestled in a quaint food hall. Very cute place for a quick lunch or dinner. Ramen is pretty good! Broth is very flavorful. Just wish I had a bit more food and that the pork was a tad more tender. But would definitely come here again. The staff was nice but I barely interacted with them.

Peter L.

Yelp
Raamen is good. Even for low sodium option is still pretty salty. Good side dish too.
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
I have been in couple Kizuki ramen places from Seattle to Portland and I love it. First time being in this place. I ordered the wrong ramen but it turned out pretty good. I got Tsukemen Shoyu with kale noodle and adding an egg. It was dry noodle and a little bowl of soup. The broth was excellent and had very rich favor. The noodle was undercooked tho so I had to pour the broth over instead of drinking separately. A soft egg and bamboos were just perfect. It costed me $20, kinda pricy, but seemed about right. Parking was on the street. I was there on a hot day so it wasn't busy. Service was friendly.
google avatar

Steve W.

Yelp
Always a great meal and experience. This is our go to spot for our ramen fix. Highly recommend their karage

Samantha F.

Yelp
Best spot and ramen is amazing! From Vegas and highly recommend this place and love the vibe
google avatar

Aidai K.

Yelp
My favorite place for lunch! Spicy ramen, when you hang over, it's always best decision

Alondra G.

Yelp
The food and drinks are delicious, with very good flavor and the portion of the plate is large! Also, when we ask for a to go box they even offered us more broth and a cute bag! I recommend visiting if you are in Portland!
google avatar

Ph G.

Yelp
The chicken cold noodles with hot dipping sauce is delicious. We ordered the noodles and the waiting time was about 10 minutes to have our tsukemen ready. This place is quite nice to have different food in one building.

Lindsay A.

Yelp
Kizuki was great, the broth and noodles were delicious and the vibe is fun! Loved it all. Brandon was so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect!

Jamaal G.

Yelp
First time coming out to the Food Hall and it was an amazing experience. The range in food options will always help to ensure that everyone in your party can find something delicious. Although the hall is open seating, it creates an inviting atmosphere. Ambient low-lightning helps to create a safe and warm environment for a person to enjoy themselves. The pricing for food and drink items are skill solid. The counters, tables, and bathrooms are always being serviced and each vendor has their own unique presentation. All of the staff were extremely helpful and kind, but I HAVE to spotlight Brandon. The staff all rotate and work in each part of the Hall, where ether it be for ramen, drinks, or ice cream dates. Brandon is a true Swiss-army knife. His drink recommendations were wonder spot-on and he was super helpful when recommending dishes to order. Truly, being helped by Brandon helped to elevate an already great experience. The Food Hall will definitely be a staple restaurant for every future visit to downtown Portland. So happy that I decided to eat here!

Yelp
Kizuki had some of the best ramen and takoyaki that I've ever had. The food was extremely flavorful and the staff was super friendly. Definitely coming back when I'm in town!
