Kizuki Ramen and Izakaya Opens a Tacoma Restaurant - Eater Seattle

"Respected Japanese chain Kizuki Ramen and Izakaya has opened another Puget Sound-area restaurant, this time in the Tacoma Mall. The new restaurant has the same menu as the company’s other locations, with a variety of ramen styles and izakaya options like chicken wings, edamame, agedeshi tofu, gyoza, and more. Despite being a large chain, Kizuki does ramen well — it’s earned a place on Eater Seattle’s list of 8 Elite Ramen Restaurants in the area." - Megan Hill

The service is always so quick and friendly! They are always willing to answer questions and make suggestions. The food quality is amazing and they recently added more drinks and cocktails to the menu. The options for ramen are so endless I feel like there is something for everyone. I got ramen and a cocktail and the pricing was really good for that!

Google
I've visited Kizuki Ramen multiple times now, and I can honestly say it’s my favorite Japanese restaurant. Their menu offers an excellent variety, and if it’s your first time, I highly recommend trying the Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen and Karaage Chicken. My personal favorites, however, are the Karaage Curry and Takoyaki—they’re absolutely incredible. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, creating a cozy dining experience. The restaurant features a charming mini bar, and if you’re into watching chefs work their magic, there’s a chef’s view where you can observe your meal being made. The staff is exceptional—friendly, attentive, and highly knowledgeable about the menu, which makes ordering a breeze. With such a diverse selection, even if my recommendations don’t suit your taste, I have no doubt you’ll find something you'll love. I highly recommend Kizuki Ramen and Izakaya—definitely a 10/10 experience!

Google
I loved the fried chicken appetizer with the dipping sauce but $9 for a few small pieces was crazy. I tried their house special garlic Ramen and specially said no SEAWEED in my Ramen. I tried to eat as much as I could but it tasted like it was made with saltwater, very salty broth, and I barely tasted the so called garlic! The service was amazing, I will maybe try a different dish if I decide to ever come back.

Google
I had an excellent bowl of chicken broth Ramen. I've had better in Japan, but for Tacoma, it's the best I've found.

Kawika R took care of us while we celebrated my kids sweet 16. The food was amazing, and service was excellent!

Google
The atmosphere was great but service was not so good and wasn’t busy but the service was slow and hardly checked on us and unfortunately our server forgot about our ramen as we ordered two, and the same server even forgot the couples food next to us as well. The ramen was bland and the chicken was not so great. And probably won’t be returning to this establishment.

Google
We’ve never waited longer than 10 minutes to seat. The service is friendly and attentive. We usually get the potstickers, karaage salad with sesame dressing and tonkatsu ramen. The chashu is always dry and chewy, so I switch it for pork belly. Pork belly is not that great or memorable either, but the soup is yummy. What brings us back is the appetizers, but mostly the karaage salad which is perfectionnn. The fluffiest and perfect to cooked karaage everrr

Kizuki Ramen sounded good to the kids while shopping at Tacoma Mall so we stopped through on an early Sunday afternoon.  It was quite busy but we got a table within a few minutes of signing in. The wait staff was attentive and gave us just enough time to decide on what to order. We ordered the Spicy Ramen, Karaage Salad, Pork Chashu Don and Gyoza. The food arrived quickly and fresh. The Gyoza was crispy but nicely chewy once bitten. The flavor was nice along with the flavor of green onion. The Spicy Ramen was of good quality and the spice level was hotter than the average restaurant standards, which for our Asian family, was good but perhaps too hot for the average food goer. The Karaage salad was tasty with nicely seasoned fried chicken and a sweet Asian inspired dressing. The Chashu Pork, however,  just tasted like the typical soy sauce with sugar sauce on pork shoulder cuts, over rice. Nothing too special. All in all the prices were standard $16-$25 per person, the service was good and the food was above average. A good recommendation is you want good Ramen while visiting the mall.

Yelp
I headed into Kizuki around 4 and wait time was almost to none becuase there was open seating. We got to order after 5 minutes of waiting. After ordering: ~1 minute for drinks (sprite and iced water) ~5 minutes for takoyaki ~15-20 minutes for both bowls of ramen Overall both ramens were good but very salty in my opinion. There is a low sodium option so if you're used to eating average salted food or are sensitive to sodium I'd definitely opt for the lower sodium option! The Takoyaki was decent and tastes like your average one you'd get anywhere. The garlic ramen was alright but the broth was salty of course. It had a fairly delicious taste though and went well with the noodles. The chashu (meat) was a dry and tough. But the dipping sauce to the Tsukemen Tonkotsu was delicious though! The noodles to the Tsukemen were semi thick and were enjoyable to eat. The overall ambiance to the establishment was interesting though. Lovely architecture that was on theme with Japanese esc vibes. The music that was playing when devouring the food was reminiscent of the 80s but if I was an alien invading earth. I don't think the music is constantly like that but it made the experience definitely one I won't forget. The overall meal was $50 before tip. Overall it's an okay ramen place and might be one of the better ones in the area but I probably won't come here often.

Yelp
This was my first time at the Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya in the Tacoma Mall. I usually go to the location in Southcenter Mall. It was Friday evening, but we didn't have much of a wait until we were seated at a table. The overall experience and quality are consistent between these two locations. This time my sister and I ordered the Onigiri (bonito flavor) to share. I ordered the Garlic Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen, and she ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen.
google avatar

Amirah A.

Yelp
We had the chicken ramen which was amazing, the ramen noodles and fresh and buttery and the broth was light yet so tasty. Also had the edamame which you can't go wrong there as well as the chicken lollipop. The chicken lollipop was ok maybe needs more glaze but it was ok.

Yelp
Having lived in Japan for 6 years I've been accustomed to what authentic/good Ramen is and tastes like, sadly it is very hard to find here in the states. After 2 years of searching my Japanese wife was finally tipped off from another Japanese friend about Kizuki Raman. We were so happy to finally taste authentic Japanese ramen here. The restaurant alone is very welcoming, and is designed to look like a large ramen shop. The gyoza were very delicious and tasted just like Japan. The only negative I can think of is the price, a bowl of ramen in Japan cost around $6-8 American, to eat it here you're paying more than double that, plus tip.

Yelp
I've enjoyed Kizuki since when they only had locations in Bellevue. Love that it's more accessible to me. My go-to is the garlic tonkatsu ramen! The broth is full of umami and I love all the toppings! Love the soft, marinated egg, perfectly cooked. Seriously, I finish the whole bowl every time I go. The servers are quick and attentive. The dining area isn't super large but they have enough sitting. Don't underestimate the quality because it's in the mall!!
google avatar

Yelp
You just have to go! We've been wanting to go for over 2 months now and finally got around for a friends birthday dinner. The service was amazing, the food was delicious, the portions are definitely more than enough! It was a Wednesday night, so it was a bit slow, which was perfect for us because we were able to have some amazing conversations. Highly highly recommended!
google avatar

Mady P.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend have been trying ramen all over Washington and we still agree that this is our favorite ramen shop in WA

Jason Y.

Yelp
Just no. The Japanese curry was terrible, I couldn't even eat it. Won't be back, ever.

Yelp
Custom Dipping noodles w/ Pork belly, Egg And fish cakes. Also did the Octopus balls aka dumplings! Deeeeeelicious! Great temperature and so very flavorful! My first time having Real Ramen so this was a delightful introduction to it! The custom dipping noodles were excellent especially if you are not feeling "soup" and the broth- who knew broth could be so rich in flavors!!!! That pork belly add on and the egg Geck yeah go for it!!!! The octoballs at first questionable because the fish flakes Love but bite into flavor!!!!

Yelp
Having seen that they can make their vegetable ramen vegan, I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday when it was fairly busy, but there was tons of bar seating. Service was very slow and it took some effort to get noticed. Eventually I put my order in: vegetable ramen ($15), added tofu ($2.50), and upgraded to kale noodles ($1) to make it vegan. My ramen came out in under 10 minutes. I got a generous portion of kale noodles, with various veggie toppings: Chinese greens, kikurage, cherry tomato, bean sprouts, and shaved green onions. The tofu I added turned out to be cold slabs of tofu without anything done to it -- well, that's pretty lame. The broth is of course what makes or breaks a ramen, and it was pretty mediocre: not particularly complex, rich or with flavour depth, just fairly garlicky and one-dimensional. Coming from Vancouver, BC, we are spoiled for amazing ramen options, so it takes a lot to impress me. Compared to vegan ramens I've had in Seattle, this is slightly below average. The broth simply needs some work. It's not a bad dish but it can't compete with more refined vegan ramens out there.

Yelp
This is your typical chain restaurant environment, but the food is flavorful and well presented. We always order the Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen with Agedashi tofu and vegetable croquette. The service is always spot on as this is a group effort. Not one person busses tables, they all do. The increased efficiency is awesome team work.
google avatar

Yvonne K.

Yelp
I haven't been to a Kizuki since the Bellevue location opened but I remembered liking it. I went back recently and there are some differences. I had the potato croquettes which used to be really good but nowadays, they aren't as crisp and tasty as before. They ran out of the broth for their most popular dish, but I wasn't against the second choice. Service is slow. But I think it's because there's a lot of new people. The restaurant has a nice look to it but there's no privacy in slurping up your chow cause you're sitting elbow to elbow with other diners. Don't get me wrong. I'd still come back. Food is still delicious even though it's not what it used to be.

Ashley C.

Yelp
If you place a takeout order, double check they put your entire order. If i didn't live 20 mins away, Id go back and get it.

Annie R.

Yelp
Best Asian authentic restaurant. Courteous, bathroom ok, food served hot and prompt! Granddaughter's favorite

Yelp
I moved out of the area years ago but remembered Kizuki at South Center for having a pretty good ramen. When I saw this at Tacoma Mall, I was hoping it would meet my craving for Japanese ramen. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The tonkotsu broth was ok but lacked the rich complexity of the ramen shops in Japan. The thin slice of pork was chewy and just so-so. I ordered Goma-ae to go. I threw out the mushy mess when I got home and tasted it (made from frozen or canned spinach?!? Yuck!).
google avatar

J D.

Yelp
Kizuki still ranks as a favorite of ours for ramen but some things are noticeably different in recent visits. The service tends to be slower and the prices have definitely increased. I used to come here strictly for ramen, the wings, and chicken karaage. I've branched out to trying the pork Chashu Don and the Ten Don. Chashu was good, while the Ten Don lacked flavor even with the sauce. I recommend sticking with the tried and true ramen dishes.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Placed a ToGo order so can't comment on service. Our food was ready at the exact time as promised. Spicy Ramen was good, but not great! Also for a $25 dollar bowl of soup I expected a much bigger serving. My wife and I always share a meal so ordering an extra egg we were able to have 2 bowls of coup for what I'd call the recommend serving/ portion size. If you've ever weighed out a portion of noodles you know this is not much. However broth was extra good! We ordered 3 appetizers, the rice cakes stuffed with tuna & Mayo, the fried octopus balls (yuck), & the fried prawn cutlets. None of it would ever be ordered again. The fried octopus balls had an extremely off putting texture. They were mushy and spongy and overall just strange for a fried dish. For the record my wife and I both never have an issue with texture. These were just too strange. The cutlets were beyond fishy tasting and needed the lemon to cut it. The stuffed rice was lacking any real flavor.

Yelp
Skip the line at Din Tai Fung and head over to Kizuki!! Love their garlic tonkotsu ramen!
google avatar

Kathy V.

Yelp
The food was really good and I got the spicy ramen and it was delicious. The food came very quickly and it was good, it wasn't some place that just had instant food in the back.
google avatar

Bob V.

Yelp
They messed up my order!!! I did a to go order and they missed my extra order of wings and utensils!!! Come on people. So I'm guessing if you don't tip they take it out of your order. Be aware of this place and the fact they don't answer the phone. I tried to call twice and all you get is a recording. After eating I get med temperature food.
google avatar

Paul Y.

Yelp
Ordered take-out so I can't comment on the interior decor much. It looked nice and modern. An employee noticed that I was waiting at the front and I quickly received my take-out, which was a small chashu don. For $8.00 it was definitely enough for a lunch (or even a small dinner). It lacked vegetables besides green onions and the chashu was a bit dry. I'm used to having pork belly but I think this is a different cut of meat, since it was very lean. The food was warm when I received it and it looked very presentable, even if the meat wasn't quite there. Ratio of the meat to rice was definitely like 35% meat and 65% rice. I just wish there were some veggies to go with it!
google avatar

Mel T.

Yelp
Waitress was nice and the Ramen was ok. The decor was really cute with cat themed lanterns and nice booths for privacy. A bit pricey, but I did get full off it. :)
google avatar

Dennis R.

Yelp
Kitchen is an absolute perfection as per usual: fast and delicious. BUT what a nightmare the server stuff is. They scream obscurities through the whole restaurant at each other. Our server in particular girl with dark hair and glasses. Omg the rudeness the disrespect. Her comments and "jokes" are at the very least disrespectful and unnecessary. Telling to costumers to straight up tip her more and for what? Forgetting the drinks? The most obnoxious small talk? Messing up the order and not showing up until called over? Making everyone around uncomfortable? Eating out on the floor? Told us to lie and say that we are in military to get the discount. She lucks any sense of common sense and manners, and quite frankly is a disgusting human being.
google avatar

Leslie H.

Yelp
Okay being honest, we only stopped here because we had a gift card. After all, Kizuki is in the Tacoma Mall-not known for epic cuisine. BUT, the food was amazing! Two of us had pretty different ramen-chicken rich ramen and Hakata tonkotsu shoyu and both were sooooo good! Broth full of umami and the toppings were so yummy. Wood ear mushrooms and pork belly plus I added greens. Third member of our party had Karaage Don which he also reported was good. But honestly, why order chicken salad at a ramen spot. :) Keep in mind how popular this place is and don't go if you are in a hurry. We checked in (they have an auto-register terminal which took me a few minutes to realize) at 5:20 and were seated at 6:20. I think they were slightly understaffed because the servers were running and after ordering, one harried server popped up to inquire if we had ordered the Karaage Don like he knew someone had ordered it but not sure where it should go. Also bring your coat. They keep the doors open and Kizuki is located right by the mall entrance so it was chilly inside and we weren't the only ones with our coats on. Will I come back? Definitely!

Yelp
I ordered the spicy chicken tan tan.. flavor was good bite salty. Not spicy at all. The soft boil egg was perfect! . Definitely not splash proof meal. Love the service. The waiter was super kind and friendly. The place its self is clean and organized.
google avatar

Jhoana Mae D.

Yelp
We were seated right away and staff is very friendly! Also can't go wrong with their agedashi tofu.
google avatar

Olivier R.

Yelp
Best Japanese ramen store... good service and amazing food. Just love the place. I come to eat there as much as I can.
google avatar

Ayana W.

Yelp
This is probably one of the better ramen spots. Parking is hit or miss because it's in the mall. Restrooms were stocked and are gender neutral. It's a casual place, bright and open layout. I've sat in the bar area a few times when I've come alone. I really appreciate the variety the menu has. Today I enjoyed the Hakata Ramen. My bowl was spot on. My boyfriend got the Garlic Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen, and his bowl was built perfectly as well. My boyfriend also got the pork gyozas, he can't resist these. They were cooked well. He always drinks an apple juice and I usually get hot tea. You can say this is a usual spot for us. There was only one server on this day, and he was as attentive as we needed him to be. We'll be back.

Yelp
Delicious & great value for the price Charlie provided great service for me & my family Utensils provided for my daughter!

Yelp
Service was very friendly! They checked us in right away and accommodated us on the seats we wanted. I came here with my girlfriend and had a great time. Food was very tasty.

Yelp
Ramen here is top notch. Prices are really reasonable and my 10 year old was happy with the kids menu. Wait staff was really nice. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy garlic tonkotsu ramen, yummy mango iced tea!! Charlie was a great host! Definitely recommend
google avatar

Yelp
My first time in, and it was a very positive experience. I had a bowl of delicious tonkatsu ramen, which came out quickly and steaming. Perfect shoyu egg and very rich, flavorful broth. My two lunch partners loved their miso and spicy ramens. Our server Julia did a wonderful job, she was very kind, attentive, and helpful. I will be back to try the Izakaya. Definitely recommend :)
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
I love the fact that their to go bags are so cute we ordered a lot ! Two bowls of ramen we ordered extra meat and extra egg, two pork buns, and edamame. My edamame was fresh and delicious! The buns , watch out for that wasabi Mayo? There was so much on there It was a little different but good. The ramen had red onions which I'll remember to take out since I'm a whimp on spice ! Ramen was very flavorful and the broth was tasty ! Only issue with my pork pieces was one was all fat while the other was insanely dry . But my husbands looked really good and he enjoyed his bowl . Other than those small issues everything was yummy thank you again !
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I liked this ramen place! They had a lot of appetizer selections, I shared the karage. It was tasty. I had the spicy chicken tan tan. I enjoyed it! The broth was thicker than a usual ramen. I'd go back and try some different ramen varieties sometimes.

Jake K.

Yelp
The wait times on weekend can get a bit longer but I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes. Food 8/10 The chicken karaage is my go to for appetizer. The chicken itself is a solid 7/10 maybe higher but the sauce is for sure a 8/10 or 9/10 which definitely makes it worth the order. The shoyu ramen as well is a solid 7/10 but the broth will sometimes either be a 6/10 one day or 10/10 on another. Not sure what makes the difference but either way it's always filling and tasty! Drinks 6/10 The drinks can be expensive and smaller so we don't order them often but they're very tasty as well! Atmosphere 8/10 The atmosphere is always calm and easy going surprisingly for being in such a busy location. Definitely one of the few good ramen places in the Tacoma area
google avatar

Daniel W.

Yelp
Love the vibe and different menu options here. Ive been here a few times now and the awesome server said I'll get a free drink with a review so......... let's goooo

Yelp
Love. Wish I could choose to get just a paper bag instead of the the red one I have to many

Yelp
I have been multiple Kizuki locations here in Washington but by far here in Tacoma mall hits the best!!!! My absolute go to whenever I am the mood for some ramen!!!

Yelp
Definitely a Ramen night here in the PNW, after our Costco run we needed to warm up We frequent here often but it's been awhile...the food is always good but when the service is Awesome, the food tastes even better! Our server was Julia and she was such a sweetheart and very friendly, we shared that we were from Hawaii and she was tooMake sure to order the Karaage Chicken and Fried Calamari(it's listed on menu as another name)

Yelp
The garlic tonkatsu ramen was thick and delicious. The service was quick and attentive. Highly recommended if you're shopping in Southcenter.

Yelp
Hands down the best Ramen I have ever had!! Eat here now!! Nothing on the menu is bad!!
google avatar

Brett C.

Yelp
Enjoyed this restarant after a cold day in the mountains. We wanted something hot to warm us up and this fit the bill. This restaurant is located in a mall. After a 10 minute wait we were seated. The food tasted great. Only negative was the service. Not sure if they were short staffed, but after taking our order and getting our food we never saw the waiter again. It took so long to flag someone that we ended up asking for a refill on drinks and our check at the same time. Great food, poor service. Still would try this restaurant again. Hopefully service is better second time around.

Yelp
So this is going to be long. Today is national daughters day. I decided to bring my daughter here to eat ramen because it's her favorite restaurant. We frequent this place and the one at the south center mall. She's so good at ordering her own food. Food is good. Service is terrible. We walk in and it's slightly busy. Still a handful of tables open. I was expecting to have to wait, but was seated right away. Sat there for almost 10 mins, staring around, hoping a server would notice us. When one finally did she took our order off the top of her head (thought this was a bad idea). When my daughter ordered she said no corn and no bamboo. Server proceeds to say there is no corn in that one, okay weird because my daughter orders the exact same thing every time we go there. Sit around for a good 10-15 mins more while watching everyone get there food. Also weird my takoyaki hasn't arrived. But the table next to us who came 15 mins after us, got their potstickers. At least we have water! So then our ramen comes. Woo! What is this?? Seems wrong. So I get up to ask someone and they tell me what it is. Okay so the spicy miso is right. But my daughters regular miso is totally wrong. Must have been a mix up. I tell her no bamboo, because earlier server said it doesn't have corn. I sit there for 5 mins with my bowl of ramen and my daughter asks why I'm not eating. So I tell her I'm waiting to eat with you. She says go ahead and eat. Mind you we prepared to come here a day ago so we left our house hungry to eat ramen. So I'm feeling bad eating in front of her. I eat slowly. Finally her bowl arrives, and what do you know?! There is corn and bamboo in her bowl. So to not make a fuss I scoop as much as I can into my bowl. Next we look around for someone to notice us because my daughter is not a pro at chopsticks. She needs a fork. Finally ask someone for one. With attitude she says it's right there! In the box on the table in the small drawer. Okay, thanks! Did she have to be rude? Am I a magical human being that can see through boxes to know that there are forks in there??? As we finish eating. I still haven't gotten my takoyaki. Cool, we're already done eating and I'm fuming inside. I don't need it anymore just the check. I make sure that she didn't include that into our bill. I honestly wish I could leave a $0-1 top, but I'm not that type of person. I'm seriously considering finding a new ramen place to take my daughter to. So disappointed.
google avatar

Helena C.

Yelp
We love coming to this place with my family frequently. If you like ramen that is somewhat close to Japan come here.
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
Yuck! If you know ramen and like ramen, then you'll know that this is NOT good ramen. The broth was gross and the pork tasted old. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the noodles were not over cooked.
google avatar

Chanel S.

Yelp
The staff is always so friendly and service is very fast. The food is delicious and consistent. The wait is also never that long. This restaurant is one of our weekly regular spots to eat at.
google avatar

Lee R.

Yelp
We like the garlic Ramen! Make sure to get here before the dinner rush or you will have a wait

Cassie T.

Yelp
The food here is something I crave on the REGULAR!! A little pricey but so dang worth it! First the karage salad with rice is an amazing app, the chicken is crispy and flavorful with the salad and rice it gives it that needed uff! I always get the spicy chicken tan tan and it tastes like I got it off a street corner in Yichang! So yummy and there's enough to make you bloated with a little reminder of the great food! Usually only go here for food, lot of kids work here so they don't converse more like they take your order, give you food you pay. Very cute decorations for the girlies!
