21 Destination Restaurants in the Twin Cities Suburbs | Eater Twin Cities

"K’kinaco’s menu highlights Peru’s Nikkei cuisine, which combines Peruvian ingredients with Japanese cooking techniques. Dishes include ceviche, sushi, sashimi, and tempura, as well as grilled skewers that pair Japanese-style meats and Peruvian sauces, like the chicken yakitori with huacatay sauce. There’s also a lineup of pisco-based cocktails and classic Peruvian desserts — be sure to try the caramel pudding." - Stacy Brooks

Google
Wonderful establishment. The staff are genuinely friendly and the food is excellent. The sushi was fresh and well prepared, and the mains we ordered were equally impressive. The only criticism I can give is that the chicken Kushiyaki was a bit too expensive for what you get. A big plus is the restrooms, which were very clean and actually pleasant to use. Far too many restaurants overlook this. My only tip would be to dine in at around 5:30pm, as it can become quite loud and busy by about 6:30pm.

Atmosphere was clean and beautiful and our server was excellent. We ordered the lomo saltado, yucca fries, ceviche, and the chalaco roll. The meat in the lomo saltado was tender and cooked to perfection. Yucca fries were wonderful but the sauce to accompany it was a little on the bland side. The chalaco roll was the highlight of the meal! Our desserts were heavenly, the flan thick and creamy but the suspiro de limeña was a showstopper - creamy, caramely, and the cream to accompany it was sweet and crunchy. I could have easily devoured 3 more. I did order a flight of Pisco, which I did not realize would be hard liquor and not similar to wine (which was absolutely my bad 🤣) our waiter was so sweet and remade the remainder of the liquor into chicha sours, which were refreshing, sweet, and tangy.

Google
Delicious food! Highly recommend the Nazca roll and the pisco sours! This place is a hidden gem in MN. I will be back for more Nikkei food!

Google
A great quaint Latin Asian fusion cuisine! In the heart of Hopkins lies an eclectic and unique style of food. Service was outstanding, had a sense of urgency and catering to your needs. Highly recommended!

Google
This was a very loud place. It was not busy when we went but the sound carried. We went with a young man of about 10. He ordered the miso soup and enjoyed it heartily. We also got him the caramel pudding, which he also devoured; it was very tasty, creamy and not too sweet. I ordered the Cerro Azul cocktail. It's blue so you would expect it to be sweet. It had sort of a Hawaiian flair, but it included gin in the recipe and the gin cut the sweetness so it wasn't terribly sweet but just sweet enough; it was quite tasty. My friend ordered the Maracuya Sour cocktail. It was good. The presentation was beautiful with the spices in a waterfall down the outside of the glass. She enjoyed it. We both ordered the Lamo Saltado which is stir-fried steak, onions and tomatoes on a bed of French fries and rice. The sauce was a little salty and paired beautifully with the rice and potatoes. The tomatoes and onions had a sort of charred flavor that was unexpected and very good and the steak was cut into bite sized triangles and cooked to perfection. The whole meal was marvelous and we would go back again.

Google
Loved the Peruvian food. I like sushi, but I was not disappointed in trying a new cuisine. You must try their causitas as it was excellent. Also, the Aji de gallina was a pleasant surprise. On a side note, my celiac friend was not glutened while dining here.

Julie B.

Google
Must have a pisco sour! Ceviche was very tasty (just wish it was served with some type of bread or cracker). Aji de Gallina was very tasty as was the Arroz Chaufa (Peruvian fried rice). Staff was very friendly and attentive!

Joel W.

Google
Definitely check out this gem in Hopkins. Reasonable prices, amazing food options, knowledge staff, and a comfortable environment. They have plenty of gluten free options.

Yelp
We came here for my birthday and it was honestly one of the best meals I've had in the twin cities! I ordered the Inca Roll and it was extremely fresh and I didn't want it to end! My husband ordered an item on the chefs menu and it was AMAZING! Steak and noodles is all I can describe it as, but it was divine. Our waitress was the best and so informative! We will definitely be back!!!
google avatar

Laura E.

Yelp
What a great spot for a birthday dinner! I live within walking distance from K'kinaco so I was excited that I could enjoy one of their cocktails without needing to take an Uber/Lyft home. My friend and I both got the passion fruit pisco, which we both enjoyed. For our entrees, I had the ceviche and she had the yakisoba. The fish was super fresh with lots of flavor. For dessert, I had the caramel pudding and she had the flan. I could easily taste the caramel flavor and it wasn't overly sweet (as was the flan). Our waitress was friendly and made great recommendations. We got our food and drinks quickly. I made a reservation online and was seated immediately after I checked in. The restaurant wasn't busy or noisy. Though the prices are a bit high, it's so worth it for a special occasion!

Yelp
We love K'kinaco! We've been here a few times since they opened and the space has evolved beautifully; the greenery and decor is absolutely gorgeous, making for a lovely dining aesthetic. This experience at K'kinaco was a delightful one! We forgot to take pictures because we were too busy stuffing our faces! We started with the maracuya achilcanado and the maracuya sour for drinks. The achilcanado was sweet and spicy, combining the tastes of passion fruit with ginger ale. The maracuya sour was intensely fruity and tart with a deliciously light foam in each sip. We ordered the green mussels for an appetizer. The mussels were dressed with both a mayo based sauce & an eel sauce; both sauces made for a savory, yet smoky taste. The app contained 6 pieces so it was perfect for 2 people. We ordered two peruvian sushi rolls: the inka roll & the moncora roll. The inka is a baked roll with more of the mayo + eel sauce on top. This one is our long time favorite here and we order it every time. We will be back soon!

Yelp
I've never had Peruvian / Japanese fusion before but it surprisingly works so well together. Came in on a Sunday evening and it wasn't too busy. (Reservations are available on Tock) Was seated and our house waitress came over and explained the menu. The menu had a good mix of sushi and Peruvian classics. We ordered a bunch of things to try - the standout for me was the Udon Saltado. I'm just a big sucker for noodles. The other noodle dish on the Chef Special menu was also excellent. I didn't like the Arroz con Marisco as much. The home made sodas are a must. (skip the raspberry, get the passion fruit) Overall everything tasted fresh and I'd definitely come back.
google avatar

Rachael S.

Yelp
Perhaps the freshest roll I've had in MN. We just did takeout, ready on time with friendly service. The inside was quiet for a Sunday evening, but it looked like they had quite a few takeout orders in the works. The Inka Roll, coming in at $28 dollars before tip, was well worth the price tag. Sometimes sushi can leave you feeling like you could devour one (or six) more rolls, but not with this specialty roll. I haven't ever tried a baked roll before, so this was unique for me. The Inka consists of delicate shrimp tempura, flavorful and crisp, with real fresh crab, avocado and a generous portion of baked salmon laid over top with two different kinds of special sauces and vibrant topiko to finish it off. The individual pieces were massive, almost two bite wonders, that didn't beg for the generally obligatory dunk in soy sauce. A few days later I stopped by a grocery store to pick up a number 9 roll and was so deflated, it just wasn't even close the Inka. People rave about Billy sushi, Sushi fix, Wakame, all great in their own right, but if you are looking to support a local family owned restaurant bringing Peruvian food with Japanese influence, I would highly recommend takeout from K'kinaco.

Yelp
The food was delicious but Sophia our server was even better. Delightful personable service. If I owned a restaurant, I would want her there. Ambiance was okay, could turn the lights down a little, but the music was the right volume. Ultimately, we are going to come back and we hope Sophia is still here to suggest more delicious options. Well done

Yelp
A new spot in vibrant downtown Hopkins, K'kinaco offers a delightful blend of sushi and Japanese-Peruvian offerings. Excellent waitstaff and a warm and inviting atmosphere make this a must stop spot for folks, especially those looking for unique dining options in the West metro. They also offer Pisco cocktails, one of the few that do in the Midwest!
google avatar

Gordon L.

Yelp
Absolutely good time! The interior is so cute and intimate. The arroz con marisco is a must get! Also the drinks are really good. We sat at the bar and were served by Sophia and she was so great! Would definitely come back sometime.
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
Fantastic rolls - especially the one with the shrimp tempura. Tuna roll was also really good. Chicken fried rice was also good - not extraordinary. That's all I tried (takeout), but I will go back for sure (100%)

Yelp
Situated in downtown Hopkins, this place was easy to find and very cute inside. Upon entry, we were immediately seated at a table and a server approached to give us water and drinks. It was really fun to learn about the history and culture of the restaurant, and That the chef is well known for other local restaurants that I love. The Pisco is a very unique and tasty alcohol that I was glad to try. The food also tasted well, got the gyozas, some Nigiri, and a sampler with chicken salad, tuna, salad, and raw tuna under a mashed potato base. This was very unique with interesting flavors that I was glad to try.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place and it was outstanding! Our server Maximillo? Was fab and very knowledgeable of the menu, explained the best items to order although don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu! He had such passion for the cuisine and was so nice and friendly ,so refreshing All of the food we ate was excellent The Pisco Sour was excellent, went down way too easy The Purple Rain cocktail was a tad on the sweeter side for me but had to get being a Prince fan!! The ceviche was very good- unlike any other ceviche I had tried before this being the national dish of Peru it was very unique but the Mahi Mahi was the star of the show with the sauce The udon saltado was excellent- full of flavor and the noodles were so soft and yummy Now my faves were the Nekkei rolls in particular The Mancora roll was delicious and fresh And the K'Kinaco roll was equally delicious but completely different flavors - soo tasty Definitely excited to come back and try more menu items !! Ambiance was perfect too, restaurant wass busy but service was excellent and level of noise was fine , easy to have a conversation still unlike a lot of newer restaurants lately High quality food and service in downtown Hopkins!!

Yelp
Loved. Such a unique fusion of flavors. Cannot believe it's been open over a year and it's our first time trying. The drinks were amazing. And the food was SO delicious and fresh. Although tables were booked, they had a bar area open for food and drinks which was actually so fun because we got to watch the sushi being made and meet the owner chef Enrique. Just overall such a great experience! Will definitely be back! And if you like it hot definitely ask for it spicy! It was the perfect amount (although would be quite spicy for Minnesota standards - don't worry, standard is no/low spice to cater to the masses).
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
If you're looking for an all around amazing experience from drinks to food to service, this is your spot! I'm always blown away at the excellent service you receive at K'kinaco. Our waitress took us on a full tour of the menu. The cocktails are so unique and delicious. I had the mojito, my friends raved about the pisco sours. The ceviche is out of this world, the best in the cities. The Inka roll was incredible. My personal favorite dish is the aji de gallina, it's a unique mix of chicken, potatoes and cheese with rice. Unlike anything I have ever had before. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Christofili C.

Yelp
We had never had Peruvian cuisine before so we were unsure what to expect. However, we will be going back but on a date night where we want to spend $$. The food was delicious! It was the freshest sushi roll we ever had but it cost $25 for 1 roll. The beef in the udon noodle dish was so tender and flavorful. If you don't like cilantro though, beware there was a TON (we are cilantro lovers)b The Pisco Sour is a traditional Peruvian liquor -- the regular sour was a gingery, Moscow Mule flavor which I didn't really care for. The Mango was really good, though! The service was very professional: attending to us, describing menu items, and suggesting items we did end up enjoying. * Downtown Hopkins is quaint and you can walk-off a full stomach * Street or ramp parking * Small 2-person tables for sharing plates unless you have a reservation * Large drink menu selection but limited in terms of liquor options (as it is a Pisco bar)

Yelp
Amazing sushi and decent service. Drinks were quite lovely too! Think my friend was looking for his regular server but the one who assisted us did a decent job and such. Food ordered came fast and we definitely got full from everything we ordered. There were so many other things that we wanted to try but we got so stuffed out bellies would have burst forth if we had anything else. I'm a lightweight but I'd love to try the other drinks too. Great outing with great company

Ray O.

Yelp
The sushi rolls are top notch! The pisco deinks are amazing. The service is impeccable. Wait staff all work together. The ambiance is clean and welcoming. This has become our go to spot for Japanese Peruvian sushi. Señor Enrique the owner and chef always has a smile on his face when customers return. He treats customers like family.

Yelp
Nice cozy but elegant ceviche restaurant in dt Hopkins. We were greeted with smile and attentiveness by the hosts. The food delivered the taste I expected, authentic with high level of attention to details.
google avatar

Marinna B.

Yelp
First time and it was SO good! Our server was so kind and attentive, gave us some of the best suggestions. Food was so good, especially their classic ceviche and their maracuya pisco! Definitely coming back again very soon!
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
Our server was so nice, friendly, and extremely helpful! It wasn't too busy and had a nice date night feel to it. We got several of the dishes to split, and the yakisoba won the night. I would go back alone for that yakisoba. It was so so yummy. The mancora roll tasted so extremely fresh- I love a good soy paper wrap. We also tried the traditional ceviche, but it just wasn't my jam since it was more soupy than I'm used to. Everything else we had was so good too. Wonderful flavors here.
google avatar

Doua L.

Yelp
Food was good. Loved the Peruvian beer. Udon beef was delicious. The pepper sauces had the right amount of heat and the flavors was great

Yelp
We found this restaurant while walking around on main street in Hopkins! I lived in Peru for four months and have not had Peruvian food in years. This place is a fusion restaurant of Japanese and Peruvian dishes. We stayed with the Peruvian side of things and man oh man was it good. The restaurant has a clean friendly ambiance and the service was super prompt and friendly. Our server was super knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Amintha R.

Yelp
This is a little hidden jem in Hopkins. I would go there for the atmosphere alone. The music is so chill and I could just sit here drinking Pisco and eating sushi and reading a book. The service is attentive but they give you time to enjoy your food and company without interuption. We had Two different Pisco drinks, they were both really yummy. Appitizers we had the special cervice which came with fried calamari on top. Super Delicious, and a good sized portion. Fried yucca was light and delicious. Aji De Gallina we like if you make a open pot pie with rice instead of pie. The Inka Roll was really good, not what I expected. I had one of the specials that basically was a delicious seafood pealla. I would totally go again. I found it to be a super interesting expirience.
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
Food was excellent, got great recommendations from the staff. Tried a couple of pisco drinks based on recommendations, and topped off with the pudding dessert. Will be back! Loved the atmosphere.

Yelp
I'm so glad I finally had the chance to check out K'kinaco! The Peruvian/Japanese combination is really unique and all the flavors were fresh and exciting. The restaurant was bustling on a Saturday night but we were still able to get a table right away and there is plenty of street parking outside. We got to try a lot of dishes - my favorites were the hamachi tiraditos (huge pieces of beautiful sashimi with a refreshing ponzu sauce) and grilled yellowtail cheek. Both specialty rolls we tried were also excellent - the inka roll was more creamy/smoky and the mancora roll was more light/herbaceous. Ceviche was also good although I still preferred the tiraditos. For people that don't like sushi, it's nice that they have traditional Peruvian dishes as well - both the lomo saltado and arroz chaufa were also great. The only dish was that just okay was the fried yuccas, it was a little bland. All that food only came out to ~$50 per person, it is definitely a great place for a date night or special occasion. Will be back for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
First of all I'll start by saying as someone from the west coast I have extremely high standards for sushi and I can say without a doubt this is some of the best sushi I've had in my life. It is undoubtedly the best sushi in the Twin Cities. I would rate in higher than other popular favorites in the area. The service was impeccable. They topped off our drinks multiple times and gave us several samples of different drinks on the menu for free. They explained to us the history behind the word "Nikkei " and importance of Pisco to Peruvian culture. Both rolls I had were delicious. The fish is so fresh. My second roll the Chalaco roll in particular, I really appreciated the lemony flavor which I found unique. My favorite dish was probably the yellowtail cheek. My first time having it. It's prepared in a basic way but is seasoned perfect. It's simply grilled and salted. It comes with chili oil but it's truly not needed. It's incredibly soft, so it just melts in your mouth. Both my drinks good too. You can't go wrong with anything on the drink menu but I highly recommend trying one of their pisco drinks since that's their specialty. Overall the place is charming. We sat at the bar. The vibe is very much Peruvian influenced. I can't believe this gem is in Hopkins of all places ! I will be returning very soon. P.S be ready to spend that hard earned money! $$$
google avatar

Brendan T.

Yelp
Great concept! The lomo saltado my favorite is pretty good but I feel they have toned down the spice too much to appeal to a suburban crowd. Great chicken dishes, decent sushi and fun cocktails that again are a little sweet vs packing a punch. I dearly miss Machu Pichu in Mpls but I am glad for some Peruvian food!
google avatar

Yelp
Finally enjoyed food from K'Kinaco delivered to LTD Brewing. K'Kinaco delivers to LTD Brewing on certain nights. Flavors and quality of the wings, fried rice and gyosas left me wanting more. Ordering was easy. Delivery was very prompt. Next time, we will dine-in so we can sample more from the full menu.

Yelp
What a fantastic spot! The server was really nice and knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. He answered all of our questions (we had a lot). Inside was nice - it felt like something that wouldn't be out of place in somewhere like chicago or california. I've been wanting to try Peruvian Japanese food for a while - never expected to find it in Hopkins, MN! I was out there visiting family, and we're japanese so we wanted to give this place a try. I'm a fan! They have reservations, but we were going on a weeknight and there were a ton of empty tables so walking in prob would have been fine. My udon saltado was so good. The noodles were cooked perfectly - they were thick and chewy and soaked up the lomo saltado sauce excellently. Our server recommended this over the other dish that had noodles because he liked the udon better. We also got the yellowtail cheek - which I though was just going to be cheek but it was the whole collarbone - hamachi kama. It was super tasty. Got the ceviche - peruvian style is some of my favorite since it's mostly just fish and tigre de leche. I normally like the giant corn pieces they serve with ceviche but these felt a little more bland, but excellent with the sauce. The causitas were soooo good too. We didn't know what we were getting into but they were so beautifully plated and tasty to boot, full of different textures. My family got the rolls, which I thought were super good - loved the limey taste of the sauce to them, but they thought the sauce was a little too much. I'd recommend asking for the sauce on the side if you're not sure. All our drinks were delicious too (I tried them all haha). The non-alcoholic specialty one was quite good too! On the sweeter side but not too sweet. Def if I'm in the area again, this place will be at the top of what I throw into the "where should we go for dinner" ring. Even my auntie who is a little picky and doesn't like raw fish (not even ceviche) found enough things she liked here.
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
Everything we had here was perfectly prepared. From the cocktails to dessert, the bar and kitchen does an outstanding job. The pisco sour and the paloma are excellent cocktails. Strong and very cold - perfect. And those are just two of a pretty extensive list of drinks. They have beer and wine as well. The ceviche is definitely a star. We ordered it spicy and it's a geat start to your meal. Tried the gyoza too which was good. For the main course we ordered the mancora roll and the udon saltado. Both delicious and expertly prepared. They also have a couple of desserts. Get the caramel pudding - amazing. It's hard to believe you can just walk in here and get a table without a reservation. Really cannot wait to return!
google avatar

Tippy P.

Yelp
We went there on weeknight since we didn't make a reservation and it was pretty busy. Street parking available in front and back. The restaurant is nice, gives a forestry vibe with decorations. We ordered ceviche, sushi, yucca fries, and their specialty dish causitas.
google avatar

Claire H.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Loved the roll and passion fruit pisco sour. Service was fantastic! Enjoyed a nice meal by myself at the bar and had a great time.

Yelp
In town for work. Wanted something close and tasty. Coworker yelped, and we happened upon this fine spot. It was delicious. I've been to Peru, and I had some of the best food of my life. This menu had a wonderful mix of Peruvian dishes and Japanese flavors. Our server walked us through, and was very sweet. She answered all out questions. We got the traditional ceviche, calamari salad (yum), sashimi and a roll. We were stuffed. It was all very good, and it reminded of my trip many years ago. The space is nice with lots of booths. I'm a booth girl myself. Highly suggest!
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Walking in you can tell it is a clean and ambient setting for both a romantic evening or a family dinner. The service is prompt, courteous, and very knowledgeable of the menu. They will offer suggestions and all of them were spot on. We had a variety of items but for me the true winner was the ceviche. They have some of the best I have had in Minnesota. Absolutely a must if you like fish. The lomo Saltado was also outstanding and absolutely delicious. The gyoza, chicken skewers, and soft shell crab were good just not blow me away good. So that is why I gave it a four and if I could it would be a 4.5 :).

Nathan F.

Yelp
From the staff to the atmosphere to the food itself, this place is fantastic. Whatever it may be for date night, company outings, or just need to grab a bite. The quality of the people and food is unmatched! Thank you!

Yelp
I was delighted to find a Japanese Peruvian spot in Hopkins! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The mellow Latin jazz music took the edge off a long day, and the decor was calm and elegant. We tried causitas, which our server described as "mashed potatoes." Those words did not do them justice. The mashed potatoes were chilled, smooth, and subtly seasoned. They were like potato dumplings on which were placed tuna salad, chicken salad with crunchy topping, and tuna sashimi. It was a meeting of nigiri sushi, high tea sandwiches, and Peruvian potatoes. They were delicious and satisfying. I also ordered the ceviche special, raw white fish, sweet potato, two kinds of corn served with deep fried calamari. The calamari were crispy and tender. The fish in the cold broth provided a sunny contrast with the crispy corn, the sweet potato, and cold starchy corn. This, too, was satisfying. The flavors spoke of sunny fruits and hint of spice. We also took home a box of Peruvian flan. The small square was very rich. Instead of overpowering caramel sauce, there was a fruity sauce, a mint sprig, and bits of fruit. I lack the vocabulary to describe my experience, but I will definitely be back. I want to try their sushi next time. So many sushi joints seem to assume that you will drown your sushi in soy sauce and wasabi, and I have a feeling this place will resist such treatment. Next time we have out of town guests, I will take them here because I've never had food like this before and most likely they have not either.

Yelp
Open and friendly atmosphere. We had a reservation and got seated right away. A casual dining experience with bright and open area. The wait staff was over quickly and set us up with waters and helped us get some drinks. He was also very helpful in having us pick the items on the menu. We started with a few appetizers. Edamame, Fried Yuccas and Shishito Pepper. The edamame was cooked well and seasoned well. It's edamame so nothing extraordinary but solid. The yucca was fried well and the sauce was really tasty. That's what made it. The shishito peppers were the most interesting of the lot with a soy based sauce. Most of the peppers were mild but there were a couple in there that had quite a kick. We ordered a bunch of entrees. The Causa Trio and the Classic Ceviche were standouts. The trio was unique with the proteins on a Peruvian yellow potato cake. The flavors were subtle and just a very light and airy tasty trio. The tuna one was the standout with both presentation and taste. The ceviche was a perfect blend of crunch and fresh flavor of the broth. The Udon Satado was brothy and the onions and gave it a nice crunch. The beef was tender and had a great flavor and smell of being grilled on charcoal. The beef kushiyaki robata was tender and cooked to a perfect temperature. The aji amarillo sauce was the star here. The arroz chaufa, in my opinion was the weakest of the entrees. Not a bad chicken fried rice by any means just not quite as exciting as the other dishes. We ended the meal with the two desserts on the menu. The suspiro de limena was the star here. Silky smooth, in a martini glass with the perfect amount of sweet. The flan was a little too dense for my tastes. Not bad but certainly wouldn't pick that again when I have the caramel pudding as a choice. The pisco sours are the recommended drinks here. We had the maracuya sour and the chicha sour. The maracuya was the favorite here with all adults ordering that after trying mine. Overall a really nice meal, good service and a fun night out. Will be going there again to try some of the other items and ordering what we loved this time around.

Yelp
I'm in LOVE. I live less than 2 minutes away from this place and am kicking myself for talking this long to make my first visit. these meals were some of the best I've had in months and it was just right in my backyard ‍ perfect portions, home-like atmosphere with a well above par menu of choices to choose from. we devoured each dish and I'm already dying for our next visit to try more. i am literally so impressed. with a Peruvian flair, this spot might be giving billy sushi a run for its make a reservation and make it now - you will not regret it. our orders: the gyoza (unique & crispy - would order again!), spicy tuna & k'kinaco roll (unfreakingbelievable), & lastly the udon saltado (complete deliciousness). On my second visit, we got the edamame & another sushi roll that I can't remember but it was unique and delicious.

Yelp
K'Kinaco immediately joins Hoagies, Pub 819, and Tibet Corner as one of the best reasons to spend time in downtown Hopkins. Friendly service, an expansive menu that does justice to its Japanese-Peruvian influences, and old fashioned charm make it a unique gem for date night or after work dinner with colleagues. Their sushi menu is legit by all accounts but I'm partial to their robata and house specialties (the arroz chaufa is a 10).

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Service was excellent! The sushi was a combination of ingredients that melt in your mouth. The steak in the udon saltado was so tender and tasty. We had the yellow tail cheek for the first time and all I can say is it will not be our last! Our server was lovely, very informative, and helpful!

Yelp
I don't know how this restaurant is not on the list for 10 best restaurants in the area! It was our first visit and we arrived without a reservation on Friday evening so we sat at the bar! Alvaro, our bartender, was awesome with suggestions and service! The food was perfect. The Peruvian chicken dish - yummy. We both shared that and two sushi rolls. All was delicious. I had the mango pisco and my husband had the pisco sour. We will be back.

Yelp
The menu is slightly different from what was currently on the website. We ordered 3 drinks: pisco sour, chicha morada and Cerro Azul, felt they were so so. The food was very good. For 2 of us, we ordered the trio causitas, udon saltado, kkinaco roll and salmon tiraditos. Our favorite was the causitas. We had low expectations for the udon saltado, but surprisingly we love that too. The kkinaco roll was not bad, but a little on the dryer side, if you prefer your sushi roll to be more saucy. The service is very good, didnt have to wait more after checking in. Server was very friendly and checked if we have been here before and then made recommendations. Also, I spilled a drink by accident, but server went above and beyond and replaced it with a new one. The ambience was nice. Some restaurants in the twin cities put tables between different parties very near to each other, but this isn't the case here.

Yelp
A group of 8 of us came here about two weeks ago for my friend's birthday and it was not the best. We were excited to go to the restaurant since I told my friends I enjoyed the food and drinks and had a nice time there. But this visit was not it. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday, I think by the time we were there there were maybe two or three other tables and a few people seated at the bar. Maybe it was a bad day for our server, but they took a long time to bring our water (we received water after asking three times and by then we already had our drinks and most of our food delivered). A friend asked what the market price was for some fish on the menu and when our server did not know, they said they would ask, but when they returned they said they forgot to ask. Two of us did not get our entire orders and our server had said that we never ordered it when they had a notepad, wrote down our orders, and repeated our order to us to confirm it was right before they left the table. The drinks were good and the food was okay, but we were rather disappointed in our overall experience.

Yelp
Parking is fantastic in Hopkins - lots of lots, street parking. Always free. Never have had an issue. This is a Nikkei and Pisco bar with all the good vibes! Nikkei is the Peruvian style of cooking Japanese & Peruvian Pisco is a drink made from a variety of grapes that is produced & distilled in Peru. The staff was very friendly and helpful when asking questions on drinks & food. I already know I will be back to try more of the menu! Chicha Sour - Pisco, lime, egg white, chicha morada, & syrup YUMMMM get this! Try a basic pisco sour first though. I had a previous visit when I was just having drinks. Maracuya Sour - Pisco, lime, egg white, & passion fruit juice. Gyosas - deep fried pork dumplings, pork, and aji amarillo sauce. These were a win and so was the sauce. Tekka Maki - Tuna roll Mancora Roll - salon, Hamachi, escolar, avocado, cucumbers, poke & tuna on top. This is basically one of the best rolls in MN i've ever had. It was soft and pillowy but flavorful. Obsessed and want it again. Honoro Vera - white organic blend from Rueda Spain. I will be returning many times!

Yelp
Did you know that Maido Restaurant in Lima, Peru, is top of the World's 50 Best Restaurants list? K'kinaco Nikkei does, and the food is Japanese/Peruvian too. I'm not saying that the Hopkins MN restaurant deserves a Michelin star, but they take great pride, present their food beautifully, and (if you are allowed alcohol) with a Pisco Sour cocktail everything tastes truly wonderful. The hospitality is warm and careful, and so is the atmosphere. Last night the bluefin sushi was remarkable. Very high quality fish. If you've never had ceviche, try it here, and if you need culinary comfort do what a Peruvian might and have lomo saltado. You will be happy.

Yelp
Good food, good service, lots of gluten free options, we'll be back. Easy street parking too.

Yelp
Very pleasant server! Great service overall. The server explained his favorite dishes and showed pictures on his phone. The food is tasty and artistic both.

Yelp
Make your way to the 'burb of Hopkins for a big city experience. This place is awesome. Fascinating and delicious menu - both food and drink, great vibe, and a staff that makes you think everyone working there is the owner. Truly a delight!

Yelp
Wow!!! This new spot is awesome. You have to try it out! We got a reservation early and it was quiet but by mid evening the place was hopping! There is seating at the bar (sushi bar and traditional bar) but the restaurant isn't huge. Right downtown hopkins so you can usually find parking on the street. We started with drinks and apps. The bar is not a full extensive bar but focused cocktails with pisco and a few other spirits, wine and beer. The pisco sour was great! Food came out super fast, drinks were slightly slower once the place got busy but wasn't bad. One of the owners (I think Roberto?) came to our table to greet us and give some background on the restaurant, such a nice touch! Food: -Gyozas Appetizer: 8/10 - was your typical fried gyoza with a unique sauce that's Peruvian -fried yucca: 5/10 - this was my least favorite dish. Just didn't have a ton of flavor or crisp and the sauce was bland -Arroz (fried rice): 9/10 - yum!!! This was a great dish. Super moist and good blend of veggies/ingredients. Nice portion size as well -Lomo Saltado: 10/10 - wow. Such a simple dish but packed with flavor. The meat was amazing! -Udon Saltado: 8/10 - very similar to the Lomo, just with meat and vegetables on noodles. The noodles were unlike anything I've had before. I liked them but they're a bit slimy? So just warning there! -Inka Roll: 10/10 - YUM and MUST TRY!!! This was one of their specialty warm rolls and was soooo good. The sauces were like a spicy mayo but not spicy and an eel type sauce. More sweet and rich -Aji de gallina: 9/10 - this surprised us. I didn't know what to expect and when it came out I was nervous but no regrets. It's basically shredded chicken in a creamy sauce with rice and potatoes! This place is truly a gem and is an awesome way to try some Peruvian Japanese food (who knew that was a thing?!). Highly recommend trying it out and can't wait to go again!
