21 Classic Restaurants In Mexico City - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"What’s better than an American-style diner serving an excellent club sandwich with crispy bacon, golden brown fries, and a thick chocolate milkshake? How about a Mexican twist, featuring enchiladas and aguas frescas on the menu? Klein’s has perfected this formula since the opening of its first location in 1962 by a Texan cadet and his wife from Puebla. There are dollar pancakes and a secret family recipe for mole poblano—dense with a spicy finish—along with other Mexican specialties that locals can’t live without. Because the place was established and has thrived in Polanco, a neighborhood historically associated with the Jewish community, they also offer kosher dishes, like a chicken noodle soup that’ll lift your spirits on rainy days." - mariana camacho

The Best Lunch Spots In Mexico City 2024 - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"If you grew up in Mexico City, you came to Klein’s with your parents. And now, you probably come here with your own kids for a hit of nostalgia and some very good matzo ball soup. Although the dishes are not kosher per se, this Mexican Jewish diner has a big menu using a variety of kosher ingredients, including the beloved kosher salami torta filled with thickly sliced meat and layered with avocado and some spicy pickled vegetables. Get that and the soup, plus a milkshake or the apple pie à la mode." - guillaume guevara

Google
Favorite breakfast place in Mexico City. They have many sauces for your chilaquiles, and many types of eggs! There can be a line on weekends, but it’s worth the wait.

Google
We visited over the weekend and experienced a slight wait, which wasn't too bad. Once we were seated, the staff attended to us promptly. We ordered huevos divorciados and a banana waffle. The food was delicious, and the service was exceptional.

Google
Excellent fast service and wonderful first time trying chilaquiles. Eating breakfast outside with live saxophone was lovely.

Google
The place is nothing Special. But is a must for a lunch or breakfast quality / price at the top. I love Thor chicken soup. You should go for a quick lunch if you live close or work near by. Thanks!

Google
Super cute location! The chilaquiles verdes were so tasty along with the bistec!

We stayed in Polanco for 2 days while in Cuidad. This restaurant is very good for breakfast we ate here both mornings. Very quick service, great food, decent prices for the serving size. Staff very professional. Especially Juan, who served us the first day, he was excellent.

Google
Superb breakfast! Definitely a local favorite as it’s always full. Our server Mayra, was so efficient and quick. We will be back to try lunch/dinner menus next time!

Google
Very good place and super popular for breakfast especially on the weekend when you have to wait for a while to get a table. The menu is super extensive and has a lot of variety. You will definitely find something good for everyone in the family. From fruit, pancakes and eggs to tortas, chilaquiles and sandwiches. Service is nice but a bit slow especially on the weekend. There's only one restroom too so you might have to wait for that too.

Yelp
My 3 stars is basically just for this place having really good corned beef. I walked in and no one made eye contact with me, offered me a menu, or anything of the sort, but luckily I just wanted something to go and saw a menu so I got it for myself. The place was not busy, but then finally someone came over to me and I was able to place a to go order. I asked for 6 bagels in addition to my corned beef sandwich and everyone seemed very confused (even though you can order a bagel with cream cheese...I just wanted them plain), and they ultimately told me I could not just buy 6 bagels. That seemed like an odd response, but then I saw they were in a Kirkland (Costco) bag and decided they're not worth it anyways.

Yelp
It's okay - someone compared it to a NY Deli (like Katz) sandwich. It's definitely not that, but a decent sandwich and great place to people watch.

Yelp
Excellent location. Great service.... when I returned on a different day my waiter remembered my order from the previous visit. The service is fast, efficient and smart. The food is very fresh and wholesome. This is not a gourmet restaurant. It is standard fare at reasonable prices.

Yelp
We were strolling down Polanco and stopped here for lunch. It was busy so we thought it would be a good spot. Service was good, very friendly and welcoming. Inexpensive but the food wasn't great. The Sopes con Pollo were decent but the steak tacos were pretty bad - tasted like a cheeseburger in a tortilla - def not what we expected and they were recommended to us by waiter (maybe because we aren't locals?)

Yelp
Casual, affordable, great tasting food from a huge menu. I ordered Chilaqules con mole and pollo. Breakfast was great. Menu offers a huge variety of food. If you are in the area, I highly recommend Klein's for a meal.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! After evacuating the Museo Soumaya amazing as it is due to feeling a bit dry of throat I headed down to Masaryk. As I passed the black hats amidst their fortifications I landed at Klein's in a prime sidewalk seat. While most patrons appeared to be enjoying the usual Mexican specialities, I instead opted for matzoh ball soup with noodles and chicken. I was not disappointed, but if I had to provide a constructive quibble, I would say the ball was a bit large and under warmed.

Yelp
Found the place when walking by. Venue was simple and busy with locals having lunch. An invitation to try. No regrets. Their home cooking menu has plenty of good classical Mexican dishes. great selection of souls and tacos. Services was incredibly friendly and fast.

Yelp
You write that you're kosher, but there's nothing kosher about you! Even the meat sandwich that I ordered that is the only kosher product on the menu was brought to me with cheese on top!! You shouldn't mislead people, I walked an hour to get here for nothing!
