Our favorite coffee shop in Pittsburgh! In an industrial part of town, KLVN is a coffee shop in a spacious, design-forward building. Walk inside and order a coffee or latte. My maple latte was the best I've had. They also sell a few pastries like croissants. There's plenty of seating and outlets. Restrooms are in the back.

We visited here on a weekend afternoon. It was quiet and not crowded. We ordered a pour-over and a hot matcha latte. You can pick your beans for the pour-over — we went with El Vergel Estate. It smelled like caramel and tasted kinda like sweet potato. Super smooth and not too acidic. The matcha latte was really nice too! They actually whisk the matcha. It came in a big bowl and looked great. Quiet place, easy parking, great drinks. Definitely coming back!

Google
I actually want to give it 4.5 stars, but since you can’t do that, I’m giving it 4. It scores full point in ambience anaesthetics. Probably the largest cafe I have been to in Pittsburgh size wise, and also very modern and minimalist. The minimalism does get in the way of comfort sometimes, because the seating isn’t exactly very comfortable. The space is super bright on good sunny day. This is solidly in the hip category of cafes and everyone in the cafe, at the same time with us seem to be a working professional, either grabbing coffee with their colleagues or just working in the cafe. I guess this would make a good place to work for if you’re looking to work from a cafe. Now coming to tea coffee itself, it was very average for me. I had an iced latte, which was good. not great, but not bad either. My friend had a cold brew which she liked as well. We also ordered a Pain au chocolate go with it which was pretty bad. It was stale and cold.. I have had much better croissants in other places in Pittsburgh. Also, not getting proper ceramic mugs for a dine in order is a pet peeve of mine, and they seem to only have takeaway plastic and paper mugs for all their orders. If I had to sum up this place, this is somewhere you go when you have to get some work done and not a place you go when you want to just read a book.

Google
We were so lucky to find this place on our last day in pittsburgh! It is spacious, great interior, clean and spacious! Above all, coffee was so gooooooood!! I like their concept! Good place for hangouts, study or work! We would revisit here definitely whenever we visit Pittsburgh!

Google
Got a mocha and it was pretty good. An ok amount of in door seating and some food options.

Google
(Visited from NJ) My preferred (and favorite) kind of latte is when it has the perfect balance of coffee and flavor without them overpowering each other. This maple latte did just that.

Google
This place has such a nice vibe. I had a cup of latte with seasonal syrup and it was pretty good. Def recommend. Nice place to get some work done if you are okay with some background noise (personally I'd say it's a bit noisy for Zoom meetings).

Google
This place is absolutely perfect. The atmosphere is totally unique for the Pittsburgh area and honestly is enough to keep me coming back, but then there's the coffee. I had the Cappuchino and while the foam was a little weak the drink itself was superb. It was one of those experiences where it got better the more you had. The staff was charming and beyond pleasant. Overall it's been the most memorable coffee shops I've been to in a very long time.

Anthony Y.

Yelp
The atmosphere in here is actually so cool. Such a cool concept! It really helps you feel creative. My coffee was good too! Definitely coming back

Yelp
Got the maple spice latte and cinnamon plum- both were super delicious! baristas were super friendly and helped us quickly! came here on a saturday morning and it was already pretty busy, but the vibe is still lively and cozy. definitely a place where you could get some work done but there's limited seating and only a few outlets/power strips. parking on the street is easy!

Yelp
Honestly such a beautiful cafe, it might be my favorite in PGH! The design and decor is beautiful and it's so nice to catch up with a friend or cowork from here. They have really quality coffee and I love the espresso tonics here whether they're hot or cold. They did a collab with Jackworth across the street - a spicy Ginger beer espresso tonic that was fire. It's definitely got a kick to it! They also have a breakfast menu that I need to come back and try! Definitely recommend this spot if you're a coffee person! Staff is nice!
google avatar

Adelle Y.

Yelp
#1 cafe in PGH. They make a perfect cortado and the baristas are so skilled with art. They have great seasonal syrups and their food is amazing. The avocado toast is the best ingredients the city and the breakfast burrito is also solid. They used to have my favorite breakfast sandwich. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Hidden Gem FR. Fav cafe in PGH so far. Had the most delicious strawberry matcha I've had here- on the sweeter end which is what I like. Rivals what I've had in LA. Aesthetic is beautiful, modern, wood, artsy vibe that really puts you in a locked in mood. Quiet and ambient. Feels local and homey. Found seats immediately, lots of 2 person seaters- hard for bigger groups to study. Wish they ran just like an hour later but def a great place for morning/afternoon grinding. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Food was good. Coffee was NOT. I ordered an iced latte. The milk in it was curdled (?) I've never had that happen before. So there were chunks of coagulated milk throughout. My partner ordered a drip coffee and they apparently forgot about it. So we sat there, ate, and still didn't have it. [It was our first time here so we didn't know if they were doing some time consuming method and tried to be patient.] We checked the counter for it twice. After finally asking for it, they realized their mistake but made no attempt to make up for it. He took it to go since we'd already been there for 25 mins. For food, we had the breakfast burrito and tahini pistachio chocolate chip cookie. Both were really good. However because of the terrible coffee experience we won't be back.

Yelp
My top 3 favorite cafes to study at. Drinks are great, highly recommend the dandelion hot chocolate. Their seasonal specials always impress as well. Staff is super nice and friendly. The ambiance is also beautiful. I really love their interior design and the open space, and you really can't find another cafe like this in Pittsburgh. One of my favorite details is their collection of clay cups. Only thing is tables are a bit small. Parking is also convenient, with plenty of free Street parking space. Overall, my go to place to study on a weekday.

Brandon W.

Yelp
Coffee good; cold brew was balanced and refreshing. Ambiance is super clean and minimalist. Staff? Horrible. Super cold and unwelcoming. I am not sure what their problem is but just having a basic interaction with them was enough to put me off from coming back again. It felt like talking to a bunch of pissed off, ungrateful 16 year old girls with a bone to pick. If this place had some smiles and some banter it would be way better.

John K.

Yelp
Trendy, almost too trendy. Although I just ordered a cappuccino, they handed it to me in a to-go cup; their subtle way of asking me to leave. Although the decor and ambiance were warm, the baristas were cold. But I can't fault the coffee, it was excellent.
google avatar

Miesha B.

Yelp
A bit pretentious and spendy for just okay coffee. Not bad, good even, but not great. The inside is very cozy though and I could see it being a nice place to dial in some work or reading.

Yelp
Wife and I were in town for the weekend and wanted to try a local coffee shop. KLVN Coffee Lab did not disappoint. The location is split between the roasting side and more of the coffee shop side. It has a modern coffee shop aesthetic. The barista was friendly taking orders and the coffee came out in a timely manner. The coffee was delicious and the avocado toast exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife and twins for our morning coffees. Every Sunday we try to hit up a local coffee shop and on this day it happened to be Klvn Coffee Labs turn. This actually wasn't our first visit to Klvn and I was happy to be in the area to visit it again. The first thing that I noticed on both of my visits here was the giant coffee roaster. It's always good to see and gives you a great idea that you will be getting fresh roasted coffee. Besides that everything is industrial feeling with concrete floors and then lots of wood furniture. They have plants hanging from the ceiling as well and both times that I was here I got a major hipster vibe. For our coffees on this morning, I went with a latte and added the nihilistic caramel while my wife went a latte and added the honey syrup. My coffee here ended up tasting quite fresh and I really enjoyed it. The flavor of the coffee was front and center which I loved but I was a little disappointed in the caramel flavor. However once I made it about three quarters of the way through my cup it was apparent why. At that point I started getting a super strong flavor of caramel which was quite tasty. Apparently it hadn't integrated so well into the drink and while I wish it had, I did enjoy drinking the last little bit which was almost pure caramel. My wife enjoyed her latte her and the flavor and touch of sweetness that the honey added to her coffee. The bottom line is that I would stop back here again in the future. I have enjoyed my flavored lattes on both of my visits here and would like to try some of their other stuff as well.

Yelp
Update: Used to be a regular here, but haven't been coming in for some time as the coffee shop isn't what it used to be. The quality of beans has gone down. My pour overs at home haven't been the same using the beans from there the past couple of purchases. Also, going in for an iced Americano has been a hit or miss. Really have to check who's in that day to commit to getting a drink from there.

Yelp
Brought a couple friends to Klvn earlier this week. I always love coming here and this visit was no different. The atmosphere is so unique and refreshing and my friends loved it. We ordered 2 matcha lattes with vanilla and 1 hot chocolate for my non-coffee friend. It was difficult to find seating during a busy weekend afternoon but we managed to find 3 seats. The drink-ware is so cool and the ceramic/clay cups add such a nice touch. The staff was so nice and ordering was a breeze. All of us really enjoyed our drinks and my non coffee friend tried my latte and I think we have converted them into a matcha latte fan! I seriously think this is the best place in Pittsburgh for a matcha latte. Can't wait to come back and it's a perfect spot for studying or catching up with friends.

Yelp
The best light roast coffee in the city. I've been a recurring customer at KLVN for years, and they consistently put out great light roasts. I have not had a bad one yet. Its arguably my favorite cafe as well given the aesthetic. I love the stoneware mugs, the furniture, the openness of the shop. To note, it never necessarily seems quiet if you're going to get work done or study (if that's something that matters to you, it doesn't to us). I will always get their bagged coffee as well (a bit on the pricey side, but the highest quality). 10/10 coffee and shop, and it's my first recommendation for anyone who wants to dip their toe into light roasts.
google avatar

Sara Z.

Yelp
Very spacious and nice ambiance to chat with friends or work. We had a cappuccino and cold brew which were both yummy. Cold brew was very clean and hardly bitter. I would definitely come back to do more work or catch up with friends.

Yelp
Was recommended this place by a few different locals for being the "odd one out" when it comes to quirky coffee shops in Pittsburgh. I'd say that description was fairly accurate. Think city/LA-vibes mixed with a touch of hipster. I was sad to see that there weren't many crafted non-caffeinated beverages, so I went with a local kombucha from Nashville. My friend ordered a dirty matcha drink and she said it was nice. We decided to do a little work. The one downfall of this place was the lack of outlets, which forced us to leave quite early from working at the location and headed to a different spot. I ended up also purchasing a hat cause they were so fun and loved the designs. Great coffee shop with random music and good boho vibes. Would recommend!

Kelly O.

Yelp
Am I the only one who was shocked by the size of their to-go cup? They only offer one size and it is literally a child's restaurant size cup that I finished in two seconds. Please get adult sized cups.
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
Great coffee. Not the place if you're into seasonal specialty flavors but if you like to get the same drink every time and know it'll be high quality- this is an amazing option. Nice service.
google avatar

Karla D.

Yelp
This is one of my top places in the city to go to for coffee. I think the beverages and beans rival similar spots in bigger cities throughout the country. Burundi Nemba is my go-to for whole beans. Service is beyond amazing. Love, love, love the decor and design of the shop.
google avatar

Lynn K.

Yelp
great coffee, food, and vibes! a great study spot (free wifi: password b1ueAgave) with bathrooms and some outlets (only on high chairs in middle of cafe). can get pretty crowded / loud so come early with some noise cancelling headphones.
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
Love this place. Coffee is roasted in house, they use top grade milks, and always have creative new drinks rotating through. Vibe is 10/10, kind of a desert-surf melange, which makes sense once you're there. Adequate seating to work from on a weekday. And some of the best coffee and matcha drinks in Pittsburgh for sure. In the top 3.
google avatar

Jonathan D.

Yelp
A local recommended this place to us and unfortunately, we wish we had gone elsewhere. Poor customer service -- came here on a Wednesday morning. Barista did not bother to make eye contact or greet us, and asked for our order while working on other drinks. We felt more like an inconvenience than a valued customer. I want to point out that we were the only other customers as well, no line and the place was not busy. This was our first time here and will be our last. Not a welcoming environment at all in spite of the inclusive messaging and flags. Disappointing. Two stars bc the coffee was fine.

Kim F.

Yelp
Best coffee in town. Clean ambience. Delicious coffee. Staff could be a bit more friendly
google avatar

Han L.

Yelp
The space is amazing. The coffee was alright. The espresso was a bit harsh. The maple latte was too sweet. But, they were a lot better than many other cafes.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Prettiest coffee shop ever. Only issue was the coffee was a bit small for the price. Nice place to study!
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Super cute cafe with lot of desks for a work day. I got an oat milk latte and it was alright. They use minor figures oat milk here, which isn't my favorite as I prefer a creamier texture. I definitely want to come back here to try a different drink and for another study, though
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
I definitely need to go back and try more. Their space felt very modern desert vibes with cool local pieces for sale by the register. We went recently and they didn't have their summer drinks (I was looking for an espresso tonic type thing) but they were super helpful and recommended a similar drink with lavender syrup and it was amazinggggg. Their baristas know what they're doing!
google avatar

Raghad ..

Yelp
came in wanting to get an iced coffee but for some reason couldn't and asked barista for suggestions and i wasn't greeted with the nicest attitude. was told to get an americano without being explained that it was a watered down espresso shot and just didn't like it. lots of seating but only one electrical outlet but the ambiance is cute i like the open layout.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely some of the best coffee in Pittsburgh! Stopped in today to meet up with one of my friends and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere in the cafe is spectacular, as there is a very natural feel that's is given off by the wooden decor and wooden cups they serve the coffee in. The baristas were all VERY friendly, and they flew around making everyone's coffee while maintaining the quality. I ordered the Americano which was absolutely delicious! It had a little bit of a fruity after taste that I wasn't expecting, but didn't mind. The only downside was that my friend and I had to speak a little more loudly than usual so we could hear each other over the music. I'll definitely be back here soon as the coffee was fantastic!
google avatar

Ellen K.

Yelp
Off the beaten path in East Liberty, this cafe was popular on the day of my first visit on a Sunday morning in February. We scored street parking in one of the spots out front. We also scored one of the tables inside. The space was warm and well lit with natural light pouring in from the street side wall of windows and doors. The drinks are served in artsy pottery and the wood furniture is artsy. The floors, ceiling, and wall beams are industrial chic. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Some patrons were having conversations like us, others studying together, others working away on laptops, some reading books. People of all ages including families. It was a very chill ambiance.
google avatar

Meghna B.

Yelp
Stopped by earlier today to get some work done and had a great experience! The street where the coffee shop is located has plenty of street parking for free which is always a plus in Pittsburgh. I came in a little before 10 am and it was already pretty busy but there were still about 2-3 small tables open. It's a really cute and open space, making it a great spot to study and get some work done. I ordered a caramel latte with whole milk, which was delicious! They also have a few different breakfast options available such as breakfast tacos which I did not try this time but definitely will in the future. The staff that worked here were all very nice and overall I loved the vibe of this coffee shop!
google avatar

Hima V.

Yelp
Spacious coffee shop ideal for study/work. I ordered a mocha and I really liked what I got. It had the right taste and perfect temperature. The service was quick too. I'll drop by sometime again to relax and get some work done :)
google avatar

Noah C.

Yelp
Funky & fun coffee spot with spacious interior, modern furniture and plenty of space to work. The latte I had was tasty and fairly priced. I would definitely come back to work, chill, or just grab a caffeine buzz. The music was a bit loud, so this might not be the best spot for a meeting.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Cool aesthetic with a lot of coffee equipment in the building, and some of the best coffee I have ever had. The regular coffee is incredibly flavorful, and you can taste fruity notes in it. The lattes are smooth and have the perfect balance of flavors. My go-to spot for coffee.
google avatar

Hira S.

Yelp
Great coffee shop with good drinks and spacious place to work. Matcha latte with vanilla was delicious and not too sweet. There's plenty of tables and desks to work from. Only complaint would be the music is too loud and too intense for my taste. Softer, calmer music makes more sense.
google avatar

Shelby S.

Yelp
Love the breakfast here, especially the oatmeal. The coffee is amazing too, very bougie but not in a bad way
google avatar

Nelson B.

Yelp
This is a nice coffee shop to get some work done and they have really good coffee drinks. I would recommend their special lattes or their hot chocolates. The hot chocolates are not that sweet and are mostly dark chocolates.
google avatar

Neha C.

Yelp
The coffee is freaking superb! No honestly, their coffee is worth the drive to this location. Finding parking wasn't an issue. Besides the coffee, I loved the ambiance and friendly baristas. The decor is minimalistic and chic. Love how the bathrooms are designed. Great place to get some work done and at a coffee shop away from the typical student crowd. Nothing wrong with that but what I mean to say is that it wasn't crowded at all when I went. Highly recommend!! Excellent coffee.
google avatar

Alberta N.

Yelp
The atmosphere was loud, so I'd recommend this spot only if you're planning to catch up with friend, and not if you were planning to get work done. Ordered a cappuccino, and unfortunately the serving size was small. The only milk options were whole milk or oak milk. Overall good coffee, but nothing out of the ordinary.
google avatar

Eva R.

Yelp
Big fan of this coffee shop. Love how it opens into the street. Big fan of the iced maple latte. Strong espresso with perfect complement of sweetness of maple. A nice place to catch up with friends, get some work done, or grab breakfast as they have some collabs on the weekends with Baby Loves Tacos. Also street parking in this area is free, which is a plus. Overall, a new favorite coffee shop and welcome addition to the pittsburgh coffee scene. Looking forward to coming back.
google avatar

Kayla C.

Yelp
KLVN offers quality coffee in a unique space. They also offer a short and sweet food menu (reasonably priced especially for a place near the city) so you can grab a bite to enjoy with your drink. Their employees are always friendly and prompt. Seating is hit or miss when it's a busier hour on the weekends, so plan to arrive earlier if you definitely want to sit down.
google avatar

Halie G.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop on Hamilton Avenue. They are a specialty roaster that captures incredible coffee. Tried their cold brew with home made vanilla syrup! Would recommend.
google avatar

Mable D.

Yelp
Staying in Pittsburgh over the summer, I've been on the hunt for a place that I can utilize for work. This place is exactly that and is even better than I was expecting because of its large open windows, cute decor, and great customer service. The first time I was there, I parked right outside the building and ordered a honey iced oak milk latte, which was pretty good. Nothing great, but not bad either. I also went there again a couple days ago and got a lemon muffin, which was pretty good but also standard. I would definitely come here to work again, but I would try something else on the menu other than a honey oatmilk latte.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
The 5 stars is because KLVN is excellent at sourcing excellent coffee and properly roasting it (ie they don't overroast their coffee like Starbucks does). Excellent space, friendly employees.
google avatar

Yuae P.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to chill, look no further. Klvn always has cool vibes with wide spaces. During warm weathers, they open the window which is also very nice. No need to worry about the taste of coffee. They roasted their coffee beans! Also don't miss black sesame matcha, one of their seasonal menu.
google avatar

mateo f.

Yelp
yummy coffee, chill ambiance, but whyyyy are the lids across the store. like why am i travelling to timbuktu, tiptoeing across a minefield, trying not to spill my drink on a random lady's back. and there's also no napkins at the lid area, so now im soaked in coffee & looking stupid! if i want to drink my sustainable & delish coffee, i think it would be nice to leave the store with more than half of it still in my cup. simple solution for a simple problem! very cute baristas too... i just wish i wasnt looking like a sloppy slop in front of them.
google avatar

Kathleen A.

Yelp
Love this place! They have done a great job curating the inside as well as ensuring there is some seating outside to help with covid/social distancing. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. They clearly know their coffee and are committed to making sure that you will like what you are ordering. My friend got a lavender macchiato and I got the cider. We both loved our drinks and the prices were on par with other places. I would definitely recommend checking it out!
