The Best Dishes Eater Dallas Ate in August 2022 - Eater Dallas

"This wagyu and wine pairing with meat from Cowboy Wagyu featured five stellar courses, but two blew me away. First was the oxtail ravioli, stuffed with wagyu with a parmesan truffle sauce and a drizzle of aged balsamic vinegar. It was followed by a 72 Hour Sous Vide Short Rib that was melt in your mouth soft and served on a plate of polenta, baby carrots, and peas and topped with a bordelaise sauce." - Courtney E. Smith

Plano’s Legacy Hall Gains Three New Food Vendors - Eater Dallas

"Earlier this month, outspoken chef John Tesar removed Knife Burger from the project, citing a lack of parking, “terrible management,” and an inflated estimate of the number of diners who actually eat at Legacy Hall on a given day, suggesting in a Facebook post that he was intentionally deceived by Front Burner Restaurants, which operates Legacy Hall." - Alaena Hostetter

I've eaten at their steakhouse, which is top-notch! Had a great meal here, too! Came in with a buddy for a late lunch. The joint was almost empty, so we were seated quickly. Our waiter was also the bartender. We were treated as if we were the only ones there and had great service. I had the pork belly sandwich with chilie verde fries, which were amazing. He had a plane burger and said it was delicious. I'll definitely be back!

My wife and I eat a lot of hamburgers and knife was one of the best! We liked that it was straightforward and everything was well done! Not to mention the gluten free bun offering was delicious!

Wish there were some more imaginative burger options coming out of John Tesars Knife spinoff. The burgers are just okay but the variety is less than I'd expect. My honest advice is to get your milkshake and burger here and get your fries from Roots Chicken.

Disappointing. The service is very poor and the burger doesn't live up to the hype. The person who took our order was rude. When we ordered fries, we were tersely told no fries today. Whether the fryer was broken (we saw fries in the basket waiting to be fried) or the employees were more keen on socializing with each other than making fries, who knows. We asked for 2 waters, not realizing there was the water station literally behind us with cups and water as it was our first time at Legacy Hall. He rang up 2 burgers without saying anything about the water and left to go on break. When our burgers were ready, they served both on one tray. I had to ask for a second tray so one of us wouldn't be dripping grease on the table when we ate. Both burgers were way over seasoned. Seasoning is supposed to enhance the flavor of meat, not be a main flavor. All that seasoning made it hard to evaluate if they are using better meat like they claim. It also made the burger not worth the price. We'll never eat at Knife Burger again, too many other better options out there.

Great French fries. First correctly made fresh cut fried I have had in Dallas. Nothing special about the burger. It was ok. The competition on burgers these days requires much more than this offering. The staff was very professional.

My wife and I have been waiting to try Knife Burger at Legacy Hall for several months. The burger was amazing and you did get lots of fries. Service, however, was poor, we felt like an inconvenience to them. The lady who took your order wouldn't even smile or make eye contact. Then we notice a man with an ice cheast unloading raw patties on the counter next to the condiments, I don't think that healthy or wise. Maybe the refrigerator was broke, but an ice cheast to store raw hamburger patties in, yikes. I gave three stars only because the burger was amazing, but I do not plan to be back.

Google
Got three burgers and an order of fries. The fries were good, but the burgers were terrible! Cold bland buns and each burger patty was dry and burned! We came in search of one of the best burgers in Texas and left feeling like we ate lunch at a school cafeteria!

Google
Would not return- A line cook yelled at me from across the prep table “Dont take those! Ask for one!” When I picked up a empty DINING TRAY. We had words. $41 will get you 3 burgers, 3 orders of fries, 2 drinks, and verbally accosted. Fries felt out of temp. Burgers are on the small side and basic. Positive note: the portion of fries you get is generous.

Yelp
I love Knife and their burgers. I was sad when the one at Legacy West closed. Burgers from Knife and Knife Burger are my favorite. When I get a burger, especially in Texas, I expect the meat to shine. I don't need the extra toppings. I don't need the sauces, Mac and cheese, or any other silly topping you can think of. I want a burger where the beef is the star. My OCD also loves a perfect ratio of meat to bun. I always get the Ozersky cooked pink. It's fantastic. The beef tastes like it's freshly ground. It's well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The fries were also seasoned and fried well. Their hot dogs are also good. It's nicely grilled.

Yelp
So glad I finally tried their burger. I was not disappointed. I loved how simple the menu was and that burgers are their speciality. I ordered The Ozersky it is their customer favorite, according to the cashier. I ordered my burger cooked pink. I also ordered a side of fries. My burger was cooked to perfection and it was very juicy and fresh with the perfect pink center. I loved the taste of the burger, it was just so good. The fries were cooked crisp and had lots of flavor. I'm so glad I stopped by, I will definitely go back.

Yelp
Wandering around at the Shops at Willowbend, I decided to grab lunch at Knife Burger. It is a walk-up grill spot, with tables in the open mall around it. I chose to have their grilled chilidog. The bun was toasted, which I love and the hot dog was HUGE and meaty. It was grilled just right, with a crispy skin and hot all the way through. The chili, however, was very disappinting. For ME, when I order a chili-dog, I expect it to be smothered in chili. Instead there was a single, thin stipe of a meat chili. It tasted good, but was barely noticable, hidden under a square of semi-melted cheese. Passable, but not repeatable. Additionally, the 'bar' where you order and dress your sandwich is not wheelchair friendly. I was barely able to get to the different sauces and couldn't really see what the different options were. The flatware display was mostly empty and I had to ask for a knife, and search for napkins.

Yelp
Pros: Meat Cons: Is that it? For basically $12 (basic cheese burger aka The Ozersky, fries, and a lemonade), it just left me wanting more. In-N-Out is much cheaper and much better. Maybe I just expected too much? I don't know. It was just ok. The meat was good, but I would've preferred a better bun (it's an average grocery store bun). The fries were also super basic. The lemonade was pretty good though. The service wasn't anything to write home about (not bad... just didn't blow me away... like the experience overall). I probably won't be back, and it honestly kind of deters me from wanting to try Knife... because there's nothing worse than paying for "amazing" and getting "average," and the stakes are higher with steak.

Yelp
Me and a friend were walking through willow bend one night and wanted to grab a quick bite before heading out. Stumbled upon knife burger and found my new favorite burger spot. I never could imagine that a burger so simple would be so delicious. I got the ozersky and some fries and was not disappointed. I normally like some lettuce and tomato on my burger but this one was just cheese onion and meat. Overall just a really solid simple burger. I've had a bite of some of the other ones on the menu and wasn't impressed at all the extra add-ins. It's a little bit on the pricey side at $5-6 for just the burger but for me it was well worth it. I actually had to come back the next day just to make sure I liked it as much as I did. Sure enough, I liked it the same amount the second time around. Definitely a recommend.

Yelp
$20 for two burgers & it super sucked. I make better burgers at home && look what I found in there establishment!

Yelp
While waiting for a table for brunch nearby, we decided to kill time and get the ozersky burger from Knife Burger. It is located right at the entrance of the Shops of Willow Bend, where you order at the counter and can eat at the tables nearby. The burger is about $6 in total. The burger patty was excellent. You can either have it grilled "pink" or "no pink". It was thick, meaty and savory. I wasn't too much of a fan of the bun as it was somewhat dry, kind of similar to the McDonald's bun. It includes cheese if you choose to do so, as well as pickles. Mayo, ketchup and mustard packets are served on the side. If you want a double burger, the burger costs $10. Considering the size of the one party, I imagine this being a very tall burger. The menu is very simple, offering other burger variations (perhaps 5 in total) as well as fries and drinks. The staff member who helped me at the time was very friendly and accommodating. Overall we had a good experience and made us curious about its main restaurant, Knife Steakhouse which is just next door.

Yelp
Don't know if I'd say "* you Tesar for ruining burgers for me" like the article posted on the wall next to the register, but I'd definitely say "thank you Tesar for bringing your tasty burger to my mall"! Ordered The Ozersky and it was pretty good. My burger was juicy enough, I recommend ordering it pink, and even with just thin onions and cheese, it definitely hit the hunger and tasty spot. I was worried it would be too small, but it filled me up just fine. For reference, 5 oz is larger than the USDA recommended serving size of 4oz, and pretty close to what is average serving size of protein in general, i.e. 4-6 oz. When wandering around the mall and needing a quick bite, I'd hit up Knife Burger again as a repeat customer.

Yelp
What a great concept and awful execution. $14.95 plus tip for a small burger with a grocery store bun, frozen French fries and a drink. I do not mind paying that price if the food is worth it and effort is put in. Name just about any fast food restaurant and their fries are better than this place. The burger was made with a Mrs Baird bun and wasn't even toasted, at least source a local bakery and use their bread? The burger patty was decent but sooo greasy. For this price they need to up their game. And clean their condiment area. It was covered in dust.

Joyce S.

Yelp
I went with high hopes, but this place was pretty disappointing. The burgers are not good. The fries taste like salted cardboard.

K W.

Yelp
Super unimpressed. My husband, who is a burger lover, had been wanting to try these burgers after seeing it had won awards. Not sure what those judges had, but the pimento cheese burger I had was basically a mediocre cheeseburger with onions. I am glad, at least, it was inexpensive. Much better burgers in the area to eat!

Jason H.

Yelp
I thought this place was supposed to have a great burger. Instead it was anything but. No flavor whatsoever and not even juicy.

Yelp
Lunch at Knife Burger Friday. The wife and I each had the Ozerski (single party-pink). Cooked perfectly and very tasty. Perfect size for a light lunch and for Sr citizens. Quick and friendly service. It's fast/casual order and pickup. Plenty of comfortable seating. Beer available. Glad we went and will be back.

Yelp
Basically basic. Definitely not worth the $$$. Advise different pricing. Asked for if they offered a military discount, cashier said "yes", yet didn't apply it to my price. I asked for a refund right after that was noticed and they wouldn't give it to me.
