Two Austin Restaurants Closed in the H Mart Food Court | Eater Austin

"I found that the Japanese stall Roba Katsu closed its sole H Mart Market Eatery location at 11301 Lakeline Boulevard on Sunday, March 21 after what CKN Hospitality CEO Min Choe described as “disagreements” with H Mart management; Choe called the relationship difficult and said they're happy to move on, and CKN says it wants to eventually reopen Roba at some point." - Nadia Chaudhury

Every item we ordered was very good, with the exception of the burger in the picture. My son ordered the burger based 100% on the picture, and even I was tempted to order one, but everything else was really good. I was going to give 4 stars, but when the cashier saw me take the picture, I was confronted by another lady telling me not to post it on Google. When I told her the burger didn't look like the one in the picture, she told me everybody does the same thing, giving McDonald's and Burger King as examples. Yes, they do that, but that isn't an excuse. We all know big chains lie, but that doesn't make it right. Then I was offered a refund, and when I said yes, the lady left and never came back. They should've been the ones interested in making things right, so I didn't push the issue. That's why I gave them 3 stars. In conclusion, the food is very good; just stay away from the burger.

Google
Katsu was crispy and not bad. The portioning of the side dishes and rice was very small. My accomplice got a tomahawk katsu and it was not enjoyable for them. My experience with the regular pork katsu was fine

It’s been a while eating here and saw that they had new menu, looks like mexican fusion style. We got the texas king katsu, chicken cream pasta and pulled beef with fries. Our usual habit is always the texas katsu and pasta, sometimes bacon pasta sometimes katsu pasta sometimes other pasta. The pulled meat with fries is okay, very standard bbq flavor with fries, sauce and bunch of pickle. Very oily at the bottom. The pasta is okay, i just choose pasta, just because. My husband always take the texas katsu. And i always snatch few bites. Their katsu size was humongous and 2 pieces. For their price, it was very worthwhile!! Even if the price increases quite high within these past 2-3 years, it still worth the money. We ate the katsu 2x, which shown how big the portion. As for the side, it slightly changes, which we didn’t care that much. Service not so much and very basic since it was a food court and just a cashier. Atmosphere also decent, food court after all. So yeah, if we go to h-mart, it always be the texas katsu to order. Others probably just an extra side.

Google
Disgusting experience! The cashier was really unprofessional and couldnt handle the crowd. She totally forgot to place the order in the kitchen and i had to wait for good 30 minutes for two simple dishes. On top she lied mentioning they were busy with other orders. When the order came, it was a wrong meal! totally spoilt our experience. The food is average and was undercooked since thwy had to hurry things …And definitely not worth the money! Dare to dine here.

Google
Absolute joke of a dish for almost $17. Two frozen hamburgers with canned green beans and a decent sauce. The menu clearly shows hand made beef steaks, not everything pre made. I would not be surprised at all if the sauce is pre made too. I used to get all kinds of items off the menu but this insanity is not only insulting, but extremely dishonest.

Google
Didn't like it, didn't hate it.. I think this food court is always busy, it takes away a lot from food to service.. Had the pork katsu.. perfect size for me, however, very small serving of rice and macaroni salad was weird and dry.. miso soup was a plus.. katsu sauce is different from what I'm used to.. shredded cabbage was perfection..

Google
I had been craving Tonkatsu since leaving Japan, found this place in the H Mart food hall. It wasn't bad but not great, if it was cheaper I don't think it would be so low rating. The good, the pork fillet was thick and juicy, the batter crust was very crisp and had a nice delicate crunch The sides were mid, very small rice portion, cabbage salad had an decent dressing, regular American style pickles and pickled jalapeños surprised me The bad was the sauce, I was expecting the bold Bull Dog type tonkatsu sauce but it was more like a bbq sauce, not good It's located in the food hall next to H Mart, lots of seating, decent location with lots of options

Chelsea

Google
We got the tesas size chicken breast with curry sauce. We've also tried the chicken breast curry bowl with rice too. It's all been very good! Portions are huge.

Yelp
A favorite when we get to visit H-Mart. You can find Kobako Katsu in the furthest corner of the food court. They are specialized mostly in Katsu. My son's favorite is the chicken Katsu. The food is freshly fried and the taste is great. Well, A1 has only the rise option and A 10 is a humongous portion, including a big pile of crinkle cut french fries. The servings are way more than expected and often have to take it home. Though it's a lot of fried foods, the frying part they do with perfection. Often served with a bit thinly sliced coleslaw and pickles, but the garnishing is nothing additionally. I wish that the staff would smile a bit more, instead it feels like they don't want your business. There is nothing much to say about the ambiance, as it only has a counter with a register. And behind the curtains is where the frying magic happens aka the kitchen. You would eat at the food court so put in your order and you'll get a timer that will go off when your food is ready to pick up at the register. Easy peasy, great when hungry.

Yelp
We may have ordered the wrong things here but the two items we got were just plain terrible. The teriyaki chicken donburi bowl was not good. Chicken was very tough and dry and the rice was drenched with sugary very sweet teriyaki sauce. The only saving grace of this dish is the salad - it was underwhelming but fresh. We got a salad with sausage and egg just to see what it's like and what we got was what's in the name. It was literally chopped lettuce, typical sausage and scrambled egg with a side of some yellow-y sweet dressing. No frill. It was disappointing. Again, perhaps we should have sticked with their katsu which wasn't bad when we had it at our last visit.

Yelp
Food came out so quick and was so tasty, forgot to take a picture! Ordered the A10 Chicken Katsu Combo, came with fries and a coleslaw salad, Hop Queen ordered the A1 Chicken Katsu, that came with rice, miso, coleslaw/macaroni salad. Portions were very generous, had to get to go boxes for the leftover - everything was fresh and tasty, quality is as good as a sit down restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole experience was just the thing for lunch, before heading next door to H Mart for shopping.

Yelp
I got the chicken cream pasta and it was so good. Probably the best dish ive had out of all the places in HMART. The staff was friendly and got my order out really quick and the food was well wrapped and had foil in the bottom to seal in the heat. Plenty of seating in the foodcourt area as well i always love coming here with my friends!

Yelp
We chose to try Kobako Katsu after driving to h-mart to eat at Don chicken but Don chicken restaurant was totally shut down (even though online said they should be open). Anyway, the meal I got was C1. Curry Chicken Katsu Bowl and it was beyond amazing! Chicken perfectly cooked came on bed of rice with shredded cabbage and curry sauce. Portions are large and sufficient for a big appetite like mine! They definitely earned a new customer!

Yelp
I stopped by to get lunch while I was at H Mart today. I got the chicken teriyaki meal. For some reason, I thought it was going to be spicy, but maybe that was the dish above it, but that was confusing. My chicken was very dry and I'm not feeling like I like this very much unfortunately. I will try something new next time. The staff was very friendly and they gave a buzzer which was convenient because I did some shopping at H Mart.
google avatar

Nathan K.

Yelp
Had an enjoyable meal at Kobako Katsu at Hmart. I got the Curry Pork Katsu Bowl and at $11.99, the price is relatively good for eating out in 2025, and the portion size is definitely quite large and you get a cup of miso soup as well. The breading and flavor is well done, and the curry was hearty and hit the spot. The wait time after ordering was not too bad either. Would definitely return and encourage others to check them out!

Yelp
HMart food courts tend to be insanely good. The one in Austin/Cedar Park is no exception. This is like an Honors Class of Asian Food Stalls. The worst get an A-. The best are A +++++++. Kobaku Katsu is merely A +. If it were located anywhere other than the HMart food court, I would be raving like there is no tomorrow. But at HMart, I am so spoiled that there are other places that are seven star and eight star. Giving Kobaku Katsu five stars is 1000% accurate but five stars only gets one the bronze medal rather than the gold. * * * Kobaku Katsu is really two restaurants in one. One serves katsu. The other serves pasta. I actually think the next door neighbor restaurant Jopok Topokki is owned by the same people, and the two restaurants are extensions of each other. Kobaku Katsu is a split format restaurant katsu/udon. Jopok Topokki is a split format restaurant rice sticks/ramen. The two restaurants have menus that use the same graphics and have almost the same number of items. Could be a coincidence but ... * * * I have not eaten from the Katsu side of Kobaku Katsu. I have eaten off the pasta side. They have udon in soup - but many of their pasta offerings are pseudo-Italian and come in tomato based sauces. This is more Korean than Blackpink. Actually it is more East Asian than Blackpink. Nearly all the East Asian nations have their own original redesigns of Italian pasta. Those East Asian reworkings are insanely good. I did meatballs in rose pasta. The hamburger is the kind that comes out of a tube. It is more finely ground that what we put on burgers made at home. I suspect it is a mixture of meats. The meatballs are insanely good in the rose sauce ... and the rose sauce is just fine on the noodles themselves. They DO give you a great big slice of buttered garlic bread. Your mission in life is to dip that big slice of buttered garlic bread into the rose sauce. Buttered garlic bread dipped in Kobaku Katsu's rose sauce is the way Korean Buddhists obtain Nirvana. Meditating and austerities and memorizing sutras have their place. But you can get to the Buddha Land much more quickly if you take the garlic bread route. * * * When you get to Nirvana, you will find they have meatball rose pasta that is even better than what they have at Kobaku Katsu. THAT restaurant does not have any outlets on Earth. Not surprisingly, that incredible pasta place in Nirvana is located in the food court of the Nirvana HMart.

Yelp
Kobako katsu offers a variety of katsu(fried cutlets), fried food, and sandwiches and pastas. What I really like about this spot is the variety of items you can get. The one thing you can count on when eating here is big portions for cheap. Seriously this fish and chips platter I got could easily feed 2-3 people. With that being said this platter was like a 2.5/5. The squid rings were burnt, overcooked, and overall just bland. The shrimp was cooked well but had no flavor whatsoever. The fish was the only item out of the fried seafood that had any flavor. The fries were just okay, nothing out of the ordinary but had no salt or really flavor. The cabbage and mayo salad was a welcome flavor after eating so many fried things but it had too much mayo sauce. The macaroni salad was pretty good, would definitely have liked more of that. The pickles and jalapeños served as a palette cleanser when switching from the fried food to the sides. The rice and broth kind of felt like an after thought. I honestly felt like they provided nothing of value to the meal and just took up room on the plate. I feel that this dish could be pretty decent with some improvements. The first improvement would be to make sure that everything is cooked properly. In place of the rice and broth I would love to see some lemon and maybe another piece of shrimp or fish. Some seasoning on the fries would be good too, or maybe offer seasoning on the side for those who want to add it. Finally I would use less mayo sauce with the cabbage. While this dish wasn't up to par I would recommend trying out their katsu, specifically the mozzarella and katsu curry.

Yelp
My son had the pork katsu and I had portions of his food. Perfect pork katsu, even and not too thick batter with right slice of pork. I didn't like the macaroni salad much, not as al dente as it should. Service was quick.
google avatar

Yelp
Tucked away in the strip of restaurants inside of the Lakeline Hmart, this katsu place funnels into the same dining area as the other restaurants inside Hmart. I used to think this place was decent until I got the A7 King Katsu. They give you your standard bowl of rice, some shredded cabbage and miso soup, but they also give you two massive pieces of katsu with curry on top. The taste is pretty good for katsu curry, but for the value of this being $21, this is hard to beat.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday afternoon when the food court was decently busy. We are pretty sure they forgot our order as my partner went to ask after 25 min and they said it was about to come out in a few minutes and we ended up waiting another 20. I ordered the cheese katsu and my partner ordered cold noodles. We shared a cold noodle, which was not worth the money and was just noodles and broth with ginger. The cheese katsu was decent, nothing special. The pesto noodles were also decent. For the wait time, expensive price and decent food, we would not return.

Yelp
I've never had Katsu before and I was completely surprised. My wife encouraged me to try the Mozzarella Chicken Katsu and I thoroughly enjoyed it immensely. The chicken was crispy and the sweet and sour gravy like sauce just blended it all together nicely. It may look like a monster sized chicken fried steak if you're just going off the picture of it alone, but no it's not even close. Believe it or not there's a size bigger (Texas Size) and I can't even imagine anyone trying to eat something of that caliber. Only thing I can gripe about it the price, because everything is expensive and yada yada, but it's worth the price to get the Katsu I got. Also you do get 4 sides with it too which drives up the value.
google avatar

Christina D.

Yelp
As of 10/18/24, this place is open. Not sure why it's reported as temporarily closed. We bought to go and everything packaged well.
google avatar

Kate Z.

Yelp
I always wanted to try the king sized Texas katsu, so I got it to share with a friend. When I went up to get it, I was pleasantly surprised that there were actually two giant katsus waiting for us. Amongst the two of us and two others who took some as well, we only finished one katsu. They blew me away with the quantity. Now for the quality part. The curry sauce is pretty necessary to have since katsu in general needs a bit of sauce. It felt more like gravy so that was interesting. The rice, slaw, and mac were forgettable. I think I'd come back for this again but share it amongst four people while they bring some better sides.
google avatar

Zach O.

Yelp
Easily one of the biggest katsu burgers I've ever had! The cutlet itself was huge and incredibly moist on the inside. The katsu was solid, especially having the egg on there as well! I do wish there was a bit more katsu sauce on it, but still very good. It was messy and fell apart pretty easily, but I think that was because the cutlet was so big. I'm not complaining though because the pricing for it was a great deal. I've tried the katsu curry as well, and that wasn't too great, so I will personally stick to the burger. Either way, I highly recommend checking this place out!
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Biggest, best pork on the planet. And their saucer is die for. Wish we got larger portions of mac and coleslaw though. This is a definite stop when up by HMart.
google avatar

Jinhyung K.

Yelp
I've tried Kobako Katsu a couple of times now. Located in the far corner of the H-Mart food hall, they offer variations of Pork Katsu as well as pasta dishes. But if you're looking for something memorable, the Texas King Pork Katsu is the item to get. This katsu has no business being this big. The one katsu itself is huge. But giving us two of them? That's a food challenge in itself. With that said, the Katsu itself was average. Not too thin, but most of the pork ended up tasting dry. There was not enough sauce to compensate for that. The sauce was more ketchup based and not as strong as other sauces I've had so it'll suit most taste buds. And you'll get a crispy panko bite once in awhile. The Katsu comes with macaroni salad and cole slaw on the side with white rice and miso soup. The macaroni salad was pretty good, but I wish they gave more that two bites worth of it. But one thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how they charged 50 cents for a take home box - cash only. Even for a big eater myself, I could not finish it so you're just left deciding if you should throw it away or exploding your stomach with Katsu. But shoutout to the other food spots around that gave us a free one.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
The food was good. However, it should be considered as fast food. The wait for food was about 7 to 10 minutes. It is located in a food court at H-Mart. Therefore, the seating is shared between several restaurants. I was alone, so I got a seat without too much trouble. I had the Katsu Don Bury. Overall, the area was fairly clean. The noise level is loud as one would expect at the food court. There was music playing, and it appeared everyone was enjoying their time.
google avatar

Jenifer S.

Yelp
The Texas King sized Katsu... beyond massive! My son and I came on empty stomachs and we got through 2/3 of this thin, crispy, flavorful, tender delight! You get two large Katsu per order. We ordered the pork. Came with a simple macaroni salad, pickle slices, cabbage coleslaw, a cup of miso soup, and a hearty portion of rice. Katsu was covered in tonkatsu sauce which was tasty, but next time we will order it on the side. Fun environment, with open seating and k-pop music in the background. We waited less than 15 minutes for our buzzer to ring. Also, note there are so many great restaurants here. Be sure to grab a beard papa cream puff for dessert around the corner, if you have the room! We will be back! But with another person so we can finish it!
google avatar

Briana N.

Yelp
For all the times I've been in Hmart I'm shocked and ashamed of myself for not trying this place earlier! I got the chicken katsu and it was so worth it! I wasn't able to finish the whole thing so I got to have some leftovers. The breading was crispy and not soggy at all, and the meat inside was still so juicy. As I cut into the meat, you can literally see the juice run out. And I love all the sides that come with the dish. The cabbage, pickles, jalapeños, and macaroni salad really help cut the heaviness of the dish. They give very little macaroni salad which is nice because it's already very filling as a meal, but also weird that there are only a few noodles on the plate. I also wish I had some more katsu sauce because it was so tasty and I ended up running out. I definitely will be coming back and trying other dishes as the menu is pretty extensive.
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
Nestled in the HMart food court, Kobako Katsu serves up some tasty goodness. I recommend the King Katsu, a Texas-sized tonkatsu big enough for a family of four, with a yummy sauce that adds to the flavors. We also got the spaghetti and a mozzarella katsu (tonkatsu covered in smooth, melted mozzarella). Both delicious and filling. If you're shopping at HMart and want a filling meal, it's just steps away!
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
This is in the food court in H-mart. The overall atmosphere is pretty busy and loud. The food looks good but overall bland. The ingredients are individually assembled so none of them are integrated. It's a weird meal to eat. The katsu itself tastes good, nice and crispy but bland. They really rely on the sauce drizzled on top for the flavor and there's not much of it. Everything else is salt less, which makes the tiny cup of miso soup really stand out as it is the only thing with flavor...it's pretty disappointing overall. For this, it takes a while to assemble. I'd probably try something else in the food court unless you are not very adventurous with food.
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
I love katsu!!! I ordered the katsu curry bowl. The katsu was nice and moist. The curry was surprisingly bland. That was a disappointment . It came with a cup of miso soup. I also expected the serving to be bigger since I saw a man order the Texas katsu which would feed 3-4 people. The serving size was plenty . It was $11.99 but the meal that I would say served 3-4 was only $16.99. I will go back to try the Texas katsu and have leftovers or the katsu burger sandwich. There are plenty of seats in the restaurant area. Very clean. Service was good. Took about 10 min for my food to be made.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
We have eaten here twice, the most recent time was Labor Day weekend, and we have not been disappointed!! We shared the Texas katsu and it was delicious and more than enough food for 2 people. We had to take half the katsu home both times! Along with the giant katsu serving the plate also comes with a miso soup, pasta salad, pickled jalapeños, rice, and a little slaw. They offer disposable plates if you do not want to use the dishes and they offer to-go as well. We did eat in the H-mart food court since we felt safe at the tables we chose to sit at and the times we visited were not too busy, but you can definitely order your meal to-go. We've taken our left overs home with us and it's still tasty cold :) I hope they stay around for while!!
google avatar

Nicolle M.

Yelp
This was the LARGEST piece of pork I'd ever seen, and as a fan of Tonkatsu I really enjoyed the food here. You certainly get value, and despite the size the tonkatsu is still very tasty. It's in a food court style hall so very informal. Ambiance is fun- there's K-pop videos playing in the background and very clean. Really enjoy coming and recommend after a shopping trip!
google avatar

Kolby G.

Yelp
The portions here, are huge! And tasty as well! Curry Chicken Katsu - 4/5 The sauce is amazing. The breading on the chicken is crispy, and the chicken itself is super juicy. The rice was a tad bit over cooked, a little soggy. This spot is really delicious.

Gregory H.

Yelp
The katsu here is delicious. I wish I could try more of the other places but I love the curry pork katsu bowl too much. We went again yesterday and my wife, daughter, and I all ordered the curry pork katsu bowl. It's very delicious and very filling. I have also ordered the Texas Katsu here once, and it was so large that my friend and I couldn't finish it. I would come here more if I didn't live so far out. Keep up the good work!
google avatar

CaveatEmptor E.

Yelp
My kids and I really enjoyed the mozzarella pork katsu and the seafood creamy pasta. The katsu was as large as expected so the two dishes were enough to feed three of us. Both entrees were delicious. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.
google avatar

CT D.

Yelp
I just had my worst ever donburi, how do you fuck up with such a simple dish wow. The egg is so dry, there's no sauce, there's no onion, there's no flavor, rice has no flavor, so badddddd
google avatar

Jai C.

Yelp
Impressive not only in size but in flavor and value for what you order! My partner in crime ordered the Texas katsu and I ordered the tomahawk. The cashier was friendly and double checked with us if that's what we wanted for two people (even hand gesturing how much to expect on the Texas katsu) and we seriously underestimated her explanation! It took my PIC two trips to get both orders and bring them to our table and we were stopped by different patrons in the food court asking us about our plates. They're massive! But again, it wasn't just sheer size but the flavor, tenderness, and juiciness of the cuts that were also fantastic. The sides included rice, macaroni, salad, miso soup, katsu sauce, pickled radish and pickled jalapeños. We had plenty of leftovers for our lunch and dinner the next day. We'll definitely be coming here more often.
google avatar

Jenna Z.

Yelp
Alright get ready for the biggest sheesh moment of your life. I'd seen this on some of my social media accounts and wanted to experience it for myself. This is the biggest katsu I have seen in my life. I don't even know where they got a slab of meat this big but I'm not asking questions. I shared this with my two friends and all three of us were stuffed. We got an extra rice and the total was $20 including tax and tip. I just came back from NYC and I wanted to cry at the insane value I got (less than $7 per person). I would definitely recommend trying this place, the katsu is crisp and the sauce is delicious.
google avatar

Patrick V.

Yelp
Daaang I didn't realize the portions were this massive! I ordered the tomahawk and got not one, but two large chops on my plate! The katsu was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned. The macaroni, slaw, and pickled veggies were also a nice addition that helped to cut through some of the heaviness of what is essentially a deep fried pork chop. I'm usually the type to clean their plate, but I left with a to-go box and big smile on my face. Wish they gave a bit more rice and macaroni, but the second chop more than makes up for it. Will definitely come back to try more!
google avatar

Nona T.

Yelp
We got a beef donburi. Highly not recommended. It was so chewy, dry and hard. It was impossible to chew. It must be a really bad cut of meat. The smell and flavor was also really strange. I would not order from here again based on this experience.
google avatar

Jolie Y.

Yelp
We ordered the Texas king Katsu, Super large portion!! We couldn't finish all and packed one whole Katsu
google avatar

Megan F.

Yelp
Oh my. I was so excited to try eating at the H-Mart food court and get myself a good Asian food craving fix. Much to my disappointment, this place was terrible. The side "dishes" were a complete joke. They were actually miniscule portions in sauce containers. The macaroni salad was just literally a bite. So sad. The cheese katsu itself was not cooked or presented well. It did not taste good at all. I was not full after my meal and paying $17 for this nonsense. I just can't get over how ridiculous the tiny portion sizes are. I definitely will not be back.
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
I ordered the tomahawk katsu and it was BIG! Very thick cut of the tomahawk and the outside was super crispy. My only qualm is I didn't enjoy the sauce as much. It was thick and not the Japanese curry I'm used to. Other than that, I would come back again bc its super filling and flavorful!
google avatar

Sandy K.

Yelp
Soooo I didn't know this was in HMART. Lol I decided to celebrated our anniversary by dressing in otter onesies and randomly picking a restaurant. NO REGRET. Got it to go and it held up on the 15 min car ride home. We ordered their tomahawk katsu and cheese katsu. Both of us like the cheese katsu more because of the cheese but the tomahawk katsu was enough to feed a family. It is the kind of katsu I associated more with Korean food vs Japanese. Their panko is crispier and slightly drier meat. It's a different texture and has it own unique style. The meat was still juicy and the katsu sauce is pretty good. Personally I couldn't place the flavor but it tasted similar yet different at the same time. Service was good. We had to wait a bit for our order because of the line but worth it. I would probably go back and try something different. I just think HMART food court are really loud... that or I'm turning into a grumpy old lady. Lol
google avatar

Wayne N.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of katsu, so was excited to try out Kobako, but overall my meal felt just ok. Maybe it was because it was near closing time that it was a bit lackluster? Not sure. I got a cheese katsu because that's been my jam ever since discovering it, since I love cheese. It's effectively a cheese stuffed deep fried pork chop, whats not to like? Definitely could use some more salt though and the pieces felt very thin relative to others I've had. The sauce pairs decently with it, but gotta try to eat it quickly before the cheese congeals. Rice is on the small end of the portion size, especially since you need it to eat the katsu with. Cabbage is a good palate cleanser as are the pickles, though nothing special. Miso soup is a nice touch on a cold day though. Overall, for the price, it's a bit steep and given the other katsu options on the menu, maybe just need to try a different one here.

Yelp
First time trying this place today. The chicken katsu is delicious -- fried to perfection and tender juicy meat. I wish their curry was better though; it's not Japanese style curry despite this being a Japanese style shop. The curry is light and has a creamy aftertaste, like coconut milk. It's definitely more Thai style than Japanese. Not bad, but not what I'm looking for. The portions are a good size and everything came with a bowl of miso soup which was appreciated. The cheese katsu is good but maybe needs a bit less cheese to balance out. Definitely worth visiting again but I'm still on the hunt for authentic Japanese curry in Austin.

Yelp
My partner and I ordered the Texas King Katsu to share not realizing that this monstrosity of a pork cutlet is absolutely MASSIVE. We hardly put a dent in it and had to take the rest home in a to go box. I'm pretty sure we can make 3-4 meals out of our leftovers alone. It came with a side of katsu sauce, rice, miso soup, pickled onion/jalapeños, mac salad, yellow radish, and coleslaw. The sides were basic, nothing too special. We added curry sauce on the side which I do recommend; the curry is creamy and oniony. All in all, a solid deal for $17.

Yelp
The food is okay, but on principle I can only give them one star for their comical "cash only" for a to go box. I suggest you simply order your meal To-Go to avoid this. (They charge 50 Cents cash only.) If you don't have the cash, you are forced to go to a different place in the food court and ask them. It is completely ludicrous to have to ask other establishments to accommodate you when the place of your original purchase won't.

Yelp
Their Katsu is often dry and they implemented a cash only (50 cents) policy for their to-go boxes. How stingy can you be after we've bought food from your establishment. Don't even allow to purchase the overpriced box by credit. Management should really consider how they treat their clients.

Yelp
Service is great, its a foodcourt so the space is what you would expect. The curry was just ok, really all one note and not something I would come back for.

Yelp
Oh boy this is not good... Not good at all... Kobako just opened up, so I really should cut them some slacks. A simple order (when there's no line) that took 30+ minutes? I can forgive that. Dipping sauce that tasted weirdly sweet? I will give it to them as having their "unique" style. But having the cashier going back and forth into the kitchen, without washing her hands, and SHAPED each plate's little mountain of shredded cabbage to make them look taller on the plate?! OH HELL NO!! A complete disregard to hygiene during normal time is already bad enough... But during a pandemic, having a CASHIER going back and forth and touch the food without washing her hands or wearing a glove is just UNFORGIVABLE!! So, yeah. I am not coming back here for another bucket of yuck. Just no way!!

Yelp
This place is pretty crazy value for how much you get. Obviously, the quality isn't top-notch but the taste is still pretty good. I think they put too much gravy though, so I would maybe try to lower that next time. I also don't usually like coleslaw, but this was not that vinegary, so it was pretty palatable. Definitely share this with 2-3 people depending on how much you eat

Yelp
Why does the curry taste weird here? I would like to think that I have had my fair share of Japanese curries over my lifetime, but this one tasted kind of sweet, which is odd to me. I am use to something a lot more savory. It was like eating curry pudding on katsu chicken. Unnatural I tell you. The service was okay. The cook on the chicken was good, except the gristle piece I got. It may be a long time until come back here.

Yelp
I was hesitant at first because of the three stars, but it seems like it's because they're still new and there's only five reviews. For $16.99, their Texas king Katsu it's a big ass piece of meat. It's bigger than my face, and good. I think personally I give them 5/5. Would recommend. Yum hoe.

Yelp
Visited the infamous H Mart with empty bellies, and decided to get some chicken Katsu. I ordered the M1 which is the Chicken Katsu with fries which I thought was literally just the chicken Katsu and fries but oh no, it was much more than that. When my buzzer went off, I walked up to the counter and saw this massive plate of food that actually shocked me! I had no idea how much food they served and would've probably shared this with my table because it was enough to feed all of us (3 people). I had mentioned how overpriced my meal was until I saw it. Everything was very fresh and piping hot. The complementary miso soup was warm and comforting, fries were delicious and an ENORMOUS portion, the coleslaw was fantastic, the little bit of macaroni salad that they give you was tasty, and the rice was perfectly steamed. The Katsu sauce was savory with the perfect amount of sweetness. I at not even a quarter of the food and had to take the rest home. This is definitely a must try if you're a fan of Katsu but the menu is huge with other offerings if you're not a fan. This is served in the food court area, where live music was jamming in the background. There are a variety of stands with different Asian cuisines. The tables and floors are kept clean and the restrooms are clean and easily accessible.
