40-Year-Old Addison Hibachi Restaurant Kobe Steaks Is Permanently Closed - Eater Dallas

"Kobe Steaks, a hibachi-style restaurant in Addison, has permanently closed after 40 years. Known for its steak, shrimp, and fried rice, the restaurant was a popular spot for special occasions, featuring chefs performing theatrical tricks. The closure followed a lengthy period of being shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic." - Amy McCarthy

We drove 30 minutes from TCU for a late Sunday lunch. Well worth the drive. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Ray was our hibachi grill master. He was hilarious. I highly recommend having him. Thanks for a great memory.

Google
The food was great, but service and the hibachi performance left a bit to be desired. Our reservations made the day prior were mostly pointless and the wait time before our order was even taken was over an hour from sitting down. Our server was mostly nonexistent until the end. The performance, the whole reason you’d come for hibachi, wasn’t the greatest. I’m pretty sure it was just our chef as the table behind us sounded exciting and was doing the water / sake, throwing food onto plates, coming out with a flaming hat, etc. where as ours dropped his tools several times and then messed up and just was like “okay” and stopped the “performance” part. Food was tasty, but just kind of disappointing experience, especially comparatively to other people’s tables. I’d say that while the food was good, the whole experience wasn’t completely worth it unfortunately and I’d probably just go for takeout at a better value.

Google
Absolutely love Kobe’s! Hubs and I went for hibachi (dinner)! Great portion size. Food is always delicious!

Google
Great location, great food, and great service. We have been looking for a good hibachi place to go and we found it here. The service was great, and the chef was awesome. My family and I had a great time. The price is normal with other hibachi locations, so that is good. The location is near other stores if you are out running errands or need to do things. Highly recommend if you are looking for this style of food for dinner. They do open at 5 pm despite the machine when you call.

Update: 08/2023- We’ve been three times from my first review, and each time the food quality has went down a little. 1) Everyone who sat at the table with us agreed the food needs more seasonings. Salt, Pepper and Soy Sauce won’t cut it. Salt, Pepper, Onion & Garlic Powder, Seasoning Salt, Accent, & Beef/Chicken broth with the oil they use on the hibachi skillet should help a lot. Also try using a little Old Bay Seasoning on the seafood. 2) The eggs should be cooked last, or paid more attention too, because it’s easy to overcook them, and nobody likes an over cooked egg. Other than that, the customer service is still good, it’s just the food needs more flavor to it. Absolutely worth every bite! Delicious! The atmosphere is private and relaxed. The design is beautiful, and the customer service was incredible that we had. The appetizers are a MUST TRY, and the show the chef put on for us, was fun and highly talented! The pricing is reasonable, about $35 per person including drink during LUNCH HOURS. Dinner, I’m sure, is more. This is a cultural place as well, so don’t be afraid to “dine in”. The setup is like “Benihana”, but smaller with their own unique touch. I highly recommend eating here… 10/10❗️

Google
The place is lovely, I love the redesign compared to the old restaurant. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful in picking out what were the best options. I brought my whole family and they all loved what they got. I personally got the Jessica Alba-core roll which was a very light and refreshing sushi roll as well as the Steak and Scallop teppanyaki. Both parts were extremely tasty! I would recommend anyone to go and try it out.

Google
Date 100! My queen Revonna and I went to Kobe Steakhouse! Don't let it being in a small location fool you! The customer count grew quickly! My queen had the salmon entree with fried rice while I had the pineapple shrimp with steamed rice. The food was great! Our server was very attentive so she was tipped greatly! The wonton soup was great also!

Google
If you’re looking for a spot that has the best sushi plus hibachi then look no further this is it . Came in here yesterday and let me say the service was 10/10 I was sat immediately the restaurant was very clean and food came out quickly . They have a great selection of flavored sakes / wines and the appetizers are a must try . Definitely will be returning and spending family birthdays here

Yelp
They have an amazing selection of fresh seafood. It's on the pricey side of GOOD sushi, but you get what you pay for. The manager is awesome and the staff is friendly - 5

Yelp
I'm torn between 4 stars and 3 because it's really good food , with a little bit of a loud inside. The service is pretty good but have yet to see the same server twice . ( they may have turnover problems ) . But for great tasting exciting sushi on the far north side this is our goto. Large menu and good food makes for hard decisions.

Yelp
I am woefully remiss in writing this review. We have been here several times. Food, service, price. This restaurant hits all three. I am especially impressed with the service. They are exceptionally attentive. I've come here with my entire family taking up an entire teppanyaki grill. Usually it's my wife and me. There's a phenomenal sushi place off 7th Street. Kobe gets their fish from the same purveyor. The board is updated with daily sushi specials I'd strongly recommend it. They can get very busy so we try to get there right at 5 pm when they open

Yelp
Not what I thought it was Great host, but, the food was nothing to write home to your mother. Place was small and clean

Yelp
I have a personal rule for anything that I'm upset with. If I sleep on it and am still upset the next day, my feelings are valid. This is one of those times. Let me preface this by saying I've worked in the service industry and am generally very forgiving to a lot. Disrespect, I am not. My husband and I visited this establishment on our weekly date night, June 25th. It was very busy for a Wednesday. We were sat first. 3 additional tables were seated after us, with the last table a 10 minute timeframe from us being seated first. No one came to get our drink order. The hostess actually brought us water after noticing us waiting for a while. The server for our section, I'm assuming, came to the table next to us (who was sat after us), to get their drink orders. Ok, no problem. He was quadruple sat. He then came back and got their entire food order. He then proceeded to a table across the section from us. Again, sat after us. repeated the process. Got their drink order, left, returned with their drinks and then took their food order. Surely, he's going to come to us, right? Wrong. Went to the 3rd table sat 10 minutes after us. At this point, we decided to leave, as we clearly weren't a priority to even get our drinks. Server 101 - if you are double/triple/quadruple sat, and you are unaware of which table arrived first, you ask the hostess. Serving not one, not two, but THREE tables before even speaking with the first table seated, is an absolute slap in the face and not something I could excuse any longer, so we left. We didn't have any drinks or food, no order had been placed, so we didn't owe them our time any further. Such a shame, as this restaurant, both as Oishii and Kobe, has been the backdrop for many date nights, birthdays and celebrations in our household.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars , I WOULD! From the host , to the server , to the chef , EVERYONE was friendly and accommodating! No wait what so ever for my drinks or food! We have never had such good service at a place! The place was very nice and had a beautiful design The food was fresh and delicious! We got some of our food to go & was asked if we wanted any of the sauces or drinks to go as well! NEVER been asked instead of always being the one to ask. 10/10 for Food & Service We will definitely be back! So happy to find a new and delicious hibachi restaurant to our new home (Only got a video but hes a screenshot of the chef cooking the food!)

Yelp
I liked the former establishment, Oiishii, that used to occupy this space but admittedly haven't been back in a while since discovering Mulan. I decided to check this restaurant out since we always like to add on new lunch spots to our rotations. I've been here twice now and my two experiences were drastically so different that I'm not sure I will be back. I was told that they are new owners and the interior has been revamped. The decor is brighter and more welcoming than before. Even the sushi bar has been updated which I always thought it needed to be. The hibachi tables are still there but you can't order from it if you're seated in the main dining room. Bummer, sometimes I don't need the show but want the food. More on that later. My first visit was awesome. They were not too busy so service was good. We were seated promptly and our food came out in a timely manner. They serve soup like Oiishii used to do which was always a pleasant start to the meal. I liked their rainbow naruto roll more than my favorite sushi spot so that was a major plus. The spicy garlic edamame is addicting. My friend enjoyed her food as well. Everything from service to the food was perfect. So I brought another friend the following week to try it out since I enjoyed the first visit so much. I had the most bizarre experience this time. The hostess sat us at the hibachi table instead of the main dining area even though we said we weren't there for the hibachi. More people were seated with us and I kept wondering why we were seated here. There were people that came in after us that got seated in the main dining area. So I'm sitting there eating my sushi appetizers (as my meal) while a full on hibachi show was going on for the other people. My friend didn't even get her chicken fried rice that she ordered. She got teriyaki chicken with fried rice instead. At that point, we were so uncomfortable that we agreed to quickly eat and get out of there. We both agreed that this place will not be added to our lunch rotation.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite places to eat! My husband just took me for my birthday dinner. The service is great, the food is amazing and the selection is really good too. It is on the expensive side and you should expect a wait on the weekend but it is worth it.

Yelp
Went out for lunch with my father in law, we moved from the east coast so we weren't sure where to find good sushi but Kobe was nicely recommended and it did not disappoint! It can be hard to find since it is tucked into a strip. The food tasted fresh and delicious and it all came out at a timely manner which is always nice. The service was very good, it wasn't too busy so we got quick refills and quick empty plate pick ups. The inside was designed beautifully with the cultural elements that really brought the ambiance to life. With a full bar and soft drinks, Kobe Steakhouse and Seafood is definitely worth it. 10/10 on the list for sushi nights
google avatar

Emilie L.

Yelp
The "show" was fun and the service was great but the food was just ok. The salad and soup were tasty so it may have just been our chef that particular night.

Yelp
Our first day in Texas today and we came here for Easter night dinner. My husband had edamame and beef pad Thai, I had chicken and tofu pad Thai with miso soup. We took it to go. The food was eaten within 6 min. Mine was very good. However, my pad Thai noodles tasted simply like thin spaghetti. And my husband said his was just OK and not very moist. My miso soup was so so not very flavorful. One and done

Yelp
I've ordered from here for months. Amazing quality. They always include enough wasabi for your meal. One of the only places that has Kama. Thank you for bringing me my heritage by offering Kama.

Alesha S.

Yelp
Great food and always super friendly staff would definitely recommend for a date night or a birthday definitely worth the visit if you're in the area for lunch also
google avatar

Yelp
Best sushi place around, hands down. Best service as well. Very relaxing atmosphere. Only place in lake worth that has quality sushi
google avatar

Elissia J.

Yelp
I have ordered twice to go orders and both times the food was delicious. I favored the setup of the restaurant, so I plan to actually dine inside. I highly recommend the food quality and flavorings.

Yelp
We had a great experience our first time coming in to Kobe! I must say, slim pickins for really great places in the north Fort Worth area but you guys delivered!! SUPER attentive staff, wonderful nigiri & the main dishes were delish too!! The only thing I would want is the ability to make reservations. Don't wait to try this new gem in Lake Worth!!!
google avatar

Lily G.

Yelp
Phenomenal food and service. We wanted to sample a little of everything, so we got a spider roll, a Kobe roll, spicy garlic edamame, and the chicken udon. To say the food was "good" would be an understatement! Food came out hot, fresh, and in large portions. Our server was very attentive- she didn't miss a thing. Well worth the price (which is accurate for the quality)! We will be trying it again to see how consistent it is, but based off tonight's visit, I have no doubts.

Rowena ..

Yelp
I would give 10stars. Food, service, price, and everyone serving is fantastic. I wanna give extra stars to the manager. He even lent his umbrella when we got out and it was raining hard. Thank you for a wonderful dinner experience

Linsey D.

Yelp
We got there about 6:30, we sat a a regular table not hibachi and got right in with no wait. It's a small place but we had a great dinner. I got a spicy California roll and it was good. It had a lot of mayonnaise in the crab mix but the spicy offset that some. We also had steak, pork dumplings, and chicken fried rice. Everything was very good. We were pleasantly surprised! Our waitress was very quick and took great care of us!
google avatar

Tristin D.

Yelp
This is a new place. They currently don't accept reservations. The facilities are very clean and updated. Did not wait too long on a Thursday night for 7 (just had to set up the tables). The sushi was really good! We got the R&R and the Crazy Dawg. Ask for Z if you get teppan! The teppan chef was very welcoming and friendly. He had a pretty cool fire breathing dragon to display. The steak was cooked to perfection at medium rare. He made us our favorite sriracha-teriyaki sauce. Ask for it if you want some good flavor on the side. Proportions were spot on and the food was delicious. The manager came out at checked in on us. All the waitresses were very kind and always there to get us drinks. 5 stars all day, even for being a new restaurant.

Yelp
Went for the first time during lunch and the service is impeccable, food outstanding and our chef was highly entertaining! Cannot wait to go back.

Misty L.

Yelp
Good food with affordable prices for sushi and hibachi. It does get busy in the evening, although we went on a Friday so it may be a little better during the week.
google avatar

Candice N.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in Lake Worth!! Great hibachi, great sushi, and everything! Employees are all so great! I love going to eat at Kobe!
google avatar

Addison W.

Yelp
Seriously the best sushi in DFW. Great food, great prices, staff is very kind and helpful.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Our chef, Roman, and waitress, Ivory, were the best! We took our daughter in for her first hibachi experience and they made it so fun and special for us. 10/10 this place great and the food is amazing.

Yelp
This place is new so it's very clean. It has been completely remodeled from the old sushi and hibachi place. We came in just at opening which is 5pm for dinner. We ordered the Valcano Roll, Yellowtail Carpaccio, Stuffed Jalapeño, Rainbow Naruto, Crab Rangoon, Chicken Yakisoba and Kalbi. It was all very good. The Sunomono Salad was so so. Never been here before and I ordered the Kobe steak 12 oz for 60.00 because it's the name of the place and I wanted to try it. It's listed in its own section separately from the other stuff but didn't know you can only get it on the Hibachi. I really want a steak and was hoping they had a option separate from the Teppan / Hibachi. They have no other Kobe steak options!!! So much for a steakhouse!!!! So I ordered the Kalbi / BBQ ribs for 22.00 and it was very good just not a steak. They lost out on $$$. I will come back and try it I guess. Just left scratching my head????
google avatar

Shelley P.

Yelp
They have remodeled, and it's attractive. They are still working out kinks of who does what. The ice tea had little to no ice. The food is good but it's not amazing. They give you tons of rice but not enough vegetables. The vegetables need to be cooked a bit more in my opinion. They serve the same sauce that they put on the salad with your steak or chicken. I would prefer a different sauce for variety. Perhaps a Asian steak sauce. The filet mignon was ordered medium. It was cooked a tad bit too long, but the taste was very good. Everyone was friendly and the manager did a good job of checking in with us and overseeing the operations. I will return but hoping they will assign a waitress and cook to each table. The waitress needs to refill drinks, and handle other request and allow cook to focus on cooking. Waitress needs to check in often. I had to ask for sweetener and more tea and ice several times. Each person had to ask vs waitresses asking everyone at table if refill was needed. Person took my plate vs salad bowl and I had no plate when cook was trying to serve me. The manager saw what happened and beat the waitress to fixing issue. A nice touch would be to add sherbet , a cookie or something sweet at the end or bring back the egg plant.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised at this gem! Visited Kobe for my birthday dinner and very pleased with the experience! No wait on a Tuesday night was optimal without a reservation. Menu had many options including daily sushi specials. I ordered the scallop hibachi with fried rice. My husband had the steak, father in law the salmon and mother in law the chicken all hibachi. My oldest son had the Pork udon noodles and youngest had the chicken hibachi. The portion size for the entree was MASSIVE. We all had food to take home. My youngest has already deemed his upcoming birthday dinner to be celebrated here as well. Looking forward to another visit!

Katherine Y.

Yelp
I've been here with my boyfriend twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch. Both experiences have been great! We went in for lunch today and our server Jeremiah was wonderful and very attentive. The manager was also very nice, asked us if the music was too loud and if we needed a bag for our food we took home. We prefer to go during lunch since it isn't busy. During dinner you can usually expect a wait time. It's a newer establishment so the place was clean and spacious. The food tasted delicious! My filet mignon was cooked perfect and the sushi was very fresh. Considering this place is still newer it's understandable that they're still working out some kinks. Very happy they finally put their hours of operations online, and give the option for reservations on most days. But overall we love coming here for teppanyaki.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
2nd time here for teppan grill. Delicious and generous amount of food. One of the other customers seated with us said they also regularly visit this place. Recommend the filet mignon!
google avatar

Tamra K.

Yelp
Delicious! It's a bit pricey but man, is it worth the price! Full sushi and hibachi dinner with appetizers and alcohol for 3 people was $100. The service was great and our server was super sweet and helpful. Hibachi show is fun and interactive and the hibachi chefs are really nice and funny too! Will definitely be coming here more and more.

Aaron P.

Yelp
Busy place, and I see what the hype is about! Food is amazing and service is just as impressive. Great ambiance to enjoy with friends as I eat my favorite rolls in town.

Rosendo H.

Yelp
WAIT TIME! They told us it would be 20 min wait, then asked again after 45 min have passed. They said again another 20 min wait. We proceeded to wait due to the time we had invested. After 1hr and 30 min of still waiting we decided to leave. *I don't mind the wait. I just hate being lied to, and wasting my time.

Janie H.

Yelp
Had lunch with the family and it was excellent!! Hibachi filet and scallops were excellent also had the hot and sexy roll and the lake worth roll both were great!! Pan seared Gyoza was also a favorite. We will definitely be back soon!!
google avatar

Charles W.

Yelp
Not even close to Oshi Sushi. So disappointed in this change. Overpriced and there attitude is not welcoming .
google avatar

Bri P.

Yelp
They made sure my office ate great today! I highly recommend the food! Went out of their way so we could make a big order. The sushi was very fresh. Now I just got to convince all of the ladies to order from here weekly. Thank you again!

Steffanie R.

Yelp
First time here, went in for a lunch date with husband. The service was great! The young lady was a great waitress and the chef was very nice as well, the food was awesome! Been to a few hibachi grill places in the last year and every time I get chicken it's normally chewy, but this place was great the chicken and shrimp were very good as well as the steak! 10 out of 10 will be back for sure!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
The service was great ! The food was fantastic. The tuna tower was amazing! I loved the fried rice and the volcano sushi was delicious. 10/10 recommend

Jimmy V.

Yelp
Nothing changed but the name still very dirty and old feeling menu is the same. Below average sushi do not recommend

Steve T.

Yelp
It's no Oi Shi. But overall it was fine, nice changes to the layout but definitely geared more toward hibachi than sushi

Katy L.

Yelp
Excellent food and outstanding service. Ate at 5:30 on a Saturday night. Our second time there in two weeks.

Yelp
So I wanted to try this new place where Ooshi Sushi once was. I hadn't been in the area in awhile so there stood Kobe Steakhouse and Sushi, the people were extremely friendly. We order Sweet Tea and immediately it tastes off, we order Dr. Pepper instead wanting to still give this place a chance. Me and my Husband ordered, the Grizzlies Sushi roll, Crab Rangoons, Shrimp Fried Rice, Teriyaki Beef with Fried Rice which comes with a soup and salad, the shrimp rice did not. Now I'm gonna explain each one with detail. The Grizzlies Sushi Roll was delicious, not too spicy and you get quite a bit for $15. The Crab Rangoons were really sweet, idk what I spent on those but if you like thick sweet Rangoons then this is for you I just prefer mine to not be as sweet. The shrimp fried rice is where most of my disappointment lies. The rice was okay I added my fair amount of soy sauce which made it taste a bit better, there just wasn't much flavor. However the shrimp I had to dig poop out of every individual shrimp, could be mistaken as burnt parts of the shrimp however I've cooked with shrimp and know what shrimp poop looks like and that was poop and a lot of it. ($15) I couldn't eat the rest of my food because unfortunately the shrimp poop made me squeamish. The Teriyaki beef wasn't the best quality but the taste was okay. We had the same issue with the rice I had with mine. ($23) However the side salad was good and the soup was good also. I spent a total of $78 at this establishment and to be quite honest I would've much rathered eaten at the New Skillman Wok down the street there I could've gotten everything I wanted but the sushi for $30 and it would've been half way decent. I've had really delicious Chinese food, I've cooked it, I LOVE Chinese food this just wasn't it for me. I now have to doordash to make up the last bit of money I spent on this place. So unfortunately I don't recommend it and won't be coming back.

Rick M.

Yelp
Food was great! Was seated on a busy Friday night within fifteen minutes. Chef verified order prior to cooking for each individual.

Justin H.

Yelp
I took my family here last weekend. The food was delicious, and I don't usually write reviews, but the waiter was unbelievably rude to us. The man in a white button up shirt threw chopsticks on the table, he had an attitude all the time. And when we were waiting for my wife in the lobby, he was gossiping to the front lady or waitress about another waiter, claiming he couldn't work properly. I can't understand why he was complaining about another waiter right in front of us when he can't even serve one table right. I've checked google reviews after we left and saw multiple bad ones probably about him, the management should train him. I DON'T RECOMMEND GOING HERE. Maybe good for Take out.

Katie M.

Yelp
Wonderful experience at Kobe! We sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed the amazing food. Our favorites were the Out of Control Roll and the spicy crab open-faced hand roll. Food is delicious and service was just great - everyone was so nice. The hibachi looked fun and was very popular - we will be back to try it out!

Natalie E.

Yelp
We absolutely adore Kobe! We come every week and even have a favorite server named jerry! The food is always on point and the atmosphere is nice and calm!

Phree P.

Yelp
The sushi deserves 5 stars. I brought it down to 3 stars because you charge more for wasabi?? Who does that? I got a little more than a pea sized amount to begin with. That insult on top of insult is like charging more for ketchup at McDonalds.

Andii M.

Yelp
I went on a Saturday night and got a spot at the sushi bar right away. I was SOOO excited for the handrolls since there aren't any in the area. WOW they were so delicious and fresh! The sushi chef and my server were both so nice and attentive. The price wasn't bad at all (especially compared to other handroll restaurants). I had madai nigiri, salmon roe nigiri, white tuna sashimi, scallop handroll (FAV!), and toro handroll (YUM) all for $35. They are now serving more handroll options that aren't on the menu yet. I can't wait to go back!

Nh W.

Yelp
We have been there 3 times in the last 4 weeks. Over priced. Average food. We were there 2 times recently. The AC was not working, nothing but excuses. We got our dinner to go. There charged us $1 extra for each extra sauce, and they tried not to give us any sauce til we checked our bag. We wont be going back. Heard there was another place in lake worth...anyone know the name?
