KOBUSHI Ramen

"The owner-chef created his menu by trial and error, driven by the search for ingredients that are quintessentially Kyoto. Turning his eye to locally raised duck, he conceived his renowned ‘Kyoto Duck and Dried Nodoguro Soba’. The soup is prepared with dashi of duck bones and tai heads and enriched with dashi of venison bones; the garnish of Kujo green onions is a consummate Kyoto touch. Those who lean toward lighter flavours should try the ‘Rausu kombu Kake Soba’." - Michelin Inspector

Normally I won’t write anything for recommendations. But this ramen is really delicious and it’s affordable. The noodles cost around $1000-2000 depending on which toppings you want. Mine is $1900 with different meats including duck, chicken, pork etc. great soup as well.

Chanced upon this place and turns out to be one of the best ramen I’ve had, didn’t know that it has Michelin star too. The soup is really divine - so clear and clean! I wiped out the ramen clean. I’m told by the waitress to add the yuzu vinegar to taste the different dimension of the ramen and I’m pleasantly surprised that it goes well together! I only read about the bad reviews of unpleasant experience with the staff there however, it’s a total opposite of what I experienced. I’ll still say that this place is truly worth a try.

Divine Michelin ramen in Kyoto. Self service machine ordering, which made it very easy to order. The atmosphere of the place feel very authentic!

This is a delightful little ramen place. They have a self-service ticket machine where you place your order and then give the ticket to the chef. Some of the staff spoke some English, and that was very helpful. The food here is amazing, some of the best ramen I've had in my life. It was so good i went back again for dinner the next day. It's a must stop for people in the area.

Visited here 2 times! The first experience was slightly underwhelming (hear me out) as i entered in and since im a foreigner (Singaporean), i would expect a slight unwelcoming part. HOWEVER things took a turn when the waiter had a convo and realised im Singaporean and the chef started chatting with me. (So those who said he looked gloomy and not a smile, he has a smile!) Enjoyed it totally eventually, it’s a Japanese proper experience in a ramen bar. Second visit was amazing as he remembered us! Had one last proper ramen before heading off to the next prefecture.

A local hidden charm for a vegetarian special meal in December. The vegan Dan Dan noodles have multi layer taste in the soup. The noodle is perfectly done, thin but chewy. The waiter is very friendly speak in English. He even help us to select the menu from the order machine and break money for us.

Best Ramen I had in entire Japan trip! This place was located right across from our hotel and it won lots of award so we gave it a try. Wow!!! Duck and fish broth was so clean and rich at the same time. Noodles were firm and bouncy. Rice was cooked with umami. It was a magical moment when we had a first bite of ramen. We enjoyed every bite of the dish till the last drop of soup. Price was unbelievably low for this quality of ramen. It’s not the most friendliest place, but I guarantee that you will have the best ramen in Kyoto.

The best ramen I had in Japan. The place is a Michelin guide restaurant and no wonder why. The taste was so rich and mild at the same time. The staff was friendly and it had a great authentic atmosphere.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place using Yelp in Japan ( so glad there was Yelp, tried Tabelog but it was too confusing). This place had 4.5 stars so my family and I went to try this place as this was close to the Ryokan we stayed (it also close to a train station). Boy were we surprised! How can an unassuming establishment bring out such great good! This place earned Michelin stars 5 years in a row!! Ramen was superb and one of the best I've ever had (and I've had many in the US especially back home in CA). The broth was star of the show, it was just bursting with flavor! The noodles were soft, freshly made and had great consistency. We ordered the special ramen that had pork and duck meat, a dumpling and half and egg! We sat and the bar and saw the chef in action! You can tell he took time and effort to keep the quality of his food consistently at its best! Price was 2K for special ramen, the other ramens were priced below this but I'm sure are equally delicious! When in Tokyo, try this place, it will give you a different perspective of this wonderful dish!
