⭐☆☆☆☆ – Extremely Disappointing Experience at Kocinao (Philadelphia)
I honestly don’t understand how Kocinao in Philadelphia has a rating over 4 stars because this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in the city.
We were told our food would take about 15–20 minutes. It took over an hour to be served. Even our drinks — two acerola juices and one Sprite — took more than 30 minutes to arrive after placing our order. There was only one family ahead of us in the restaurant.
We ordered:
Two steaks with onions and yellow rice (menu listed at $18 each)
One mofongo with churrasco (menu listed at $24)
First, the churrasco was extremely disappointing. Churrasco should be tender and flavorful. Instead, it was very chewy, hard to cut, and had a strong, gamey taste. The mofongo was dry and hard. The yellow rice looked like it was a day old and tasted reheated. The two steaks were just as tough and chewy as the churrasco.
To top it off, our total came to $103. When we questioned the bill, the waitress told us she had to “modify” the price because the menu was old. Why wouldn’t that be clearly advertised beforehand? That’s unacceptable and misleading.
Long wait times, poor food quality, questionable pricing, and no transparency. Definitely would not recommend.
