KöD - Review - London - The Infatuation

"KöD is a Danish steakhouse serving meaty mains and sides like truffle mac and cheese from a dimly lit room decked out in corrugated steel and orange neon. This Soho spot will be their second restaurant, with the original in the City. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

A Steakhouse Gem in the Heart of London Located in the lively heart of Soho, KöD offers an elevated steakhouse experience in one of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. The atmosphere is modern yet warm, with a sleek Scandinavian touch and a lively buzz that makes it perfect for both special occasions and a night out with friends. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Sophie, the manager, who not only welcomed us but also took the time to explain which options were Halal. I really appreciated the attention to detail and the thoughtfulness in making my dining experience Halal-friendly. We began our evening with Garlic Prawns and Buffalo Chicken Wings. The garlic prawns were plump, juicy, and infused with just the right amount of garlicky richness, while the buffalo chicken wings had that perfect balance of tangy heat and tender meat – a starter selection that set the bar high for the rest of the evening. For mains, my friend opted for the Japanese Wagyu Sirloin (not Halal) paired with truffle fries. He described it as “sensational” with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and deep, rich flavour. I went for the Halal Australian Sirloin, served with creamy mashed potatoes and steak chips. The sirloin was cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, and I enjoyed it with a vibrant Chimichurri sauce that added a fresh, herby kick. The kitchen also ensured it was completely Halal-friendly by removing any bacon or non-Halal garnishes, which was greatly appreciated. Desserts were a treat in themselves. I had the Danish Rød Grød, a classic berry dessert that was refreshing, fruity, and beautifully presented. My friend enjoyed his Fried Apple Pie, which had a golden, crisp pastry shell encasing warm, spiced apple filling, comfort food at its finest. To accompany our meal, we sipped on delicious mocktails and homemade lemonade, both refreshing and perfectly balanced. A huge shout-out to the fantastic team – Sophie, Kanice, and Yacine – for making the night special. Sophie’s warm welcome set the tone, Kanice’s recommendations were spot on, and Yacine made sure we were well looked after and enjoying our drinks. KöD Soho isn’t just another steakhouse; it’s one of London’s finest, with excellent service, mouth-watering food, and Halal-friendly options that make it inclusive for all. Highly recommended!

We came for Sunday roast this time and tried the tri tip steak for the first time. It was extremely succulent, even by the last slice when it had cooled down, it was still amazingly tender. Also the steak was full of flavour. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside but still so fresh and juicy on the inside. Very well seasoned too. The chips were cooked perfectly. Caesar salad is one of my favourite salads and that gave a refreshing component to the dish. We ordered another helping of steak and this piece was even larger than the first piece, which was lovely but we couldn't finish it! The mocktails were very flavourful but not a huge amount of choice. The servers were very pleasant and attentive, but not overbearing. It's always a pleasure to dine with you and you are my favourite steak restaurant, shame there's not a branch near me, but when we make a trip into London, we'll come and visit again. I've recommended Köd to my friends.

Visited here in April 2025 for a catch up with two friends. We made a reservation in advance; however the place was quite empty on a Friday evening and walk-in would have been easy. This place has lots of different menus. We all opted for their signature menu. This is three courses with a choice of starter, filler steak for mains and creme brûlée for dessert. The portion is generous as you get a sauce, chips and salad for sides. The steak was cooked well. Looking at pictures online I was worried before as the steaks didn’t look like they had that delicious char / crust. The fillet steak was cooked rare as requested and had a nice flavour. This place was nice but it is expensive and not as good as other steak places in London.

Visited Kod this weekend and had the bottomless brunch. It was good, price was reasonable, quality overall was ok. Wasn't a fan of the red wine provided in the brunch. Tacos to start were nice, steak for main was standard, dessert was extra but was average. Overall its a good place, wouldn't rush back tho.

I had dinner here with friends last weekend and it was excellent. I ordered the 3-course Signature Menu and had smoked salmon and avocado to start with was fresh, well prepared and delicious. The filet steak from Uruguay was exceptional. It was tender, flavourful and almost melted on the tongue. And while I don’t usually order dessert, the crème brûlée was also good and the raspberry sorbet was lovely. Not too sweet. The service was also on point. Our server was the right level of attentive, friendly and competent. Great restaurant!

Super nice time at Köd Soho. It’s our second time back here and once again food and service to die for. We had Sara as looking after us, who amazingly remembered us from last time we were there! She was fantastically attentive, kind and all around the perfect person to have look after you after a busy week from work! (thank you!) Now, onto the food. Absolutely delicious! Starter - garlic prawns with chilli and Tabasco sauce. Chilli helps with the spice as the Tabasco just felt like a nice dipping addition without heat. The chilli complements it nicely. Prawns juicy. Mains - UK rib eye 230g with puree (think carrot) and sauce. The steak was perfectly cooked as we liked for Medium Rare. The meat tender and soft. We got both bearnaise and peppercorn sauce to try. Both exceptional. Sides - we got the larger steak cut chips and truffle fries. Both great. Ceasar salad not my favourite, but that’s a personal preference. The carrots, feta and yoghurt were a beautiful side dish to have and really complemented the meal. For wine, 2 generous glasses of Châteauneuf-du-Pape also a great accompaniment. Köd also l do nice early dinner serving with pre-theatre menus should you wish at a very reasonable price for 2/3 courses. Would I go again, absolutely!

Lovely service with Yasin, happy to help with enquiries and answer all the questions we have. I had Filet steak which was nice alongside the green beans and steak chips. The Creme brûlée was lovely especially the raspberry sorbet was delicious!

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Our meal was delicious, the steak was tender, vegetables were tasty, and there was large portions of everything. The only downside was they don't let you take leftovers home & we had to leave nearly half of our meal.
