I know this amazing place for 12 years.I love the fine Balance on all dishes. The meatball and the chicken kebab are my favorite. They have their homemade baklavas- not too sweet. My kids adore the rice pudding.

Got seated very quickly and the owner was very nice and informative. When the food came, he took his time to introduce each dish and how best to enjoy them. Definitely try the Turkish coffee and the mixed grilled platter. Can't recommend this place and service enough. Five Stars!!!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. You can easily walk past it without recognising the sign, but this is an AMAZING restaurant, the food is exquisite. The sandwiches are tucked in a kind of grilled bread, and every ingredient tastes fresh: the grilled beef sandwich, the lamb sausage, both are MUST-TRYs. Finally you can top your meal off with an authentic Turkish coffee. P.S. don't forget the salads 👌 P.S 2: I have tried MANY MANY Baklava across the world, the Baklava in this place is one of THE BEST, exquisitely juicy, not so sweet, perfect texture. It's made by the chef and is always fresh, you CANNOT get anything like it even in pastries, it's AMAZING!

Highly recommend Mediterranean Turkish restaurant,if you're out here come give it a try! We had the mix appetizer plate, grilled mix platter with chicken gyro,red lentil soup,house salad with feta cheese for dessert baklava and almond pudding with Turkish coffee! I remember Kofte Piyaz from the early days they opened, and this place has come a lonng way since. One of my main concerns when I tried their kebab sandwich many years ago was that the meat was a little bit on the dry side, and I popped in the other day to have a sandwich, and still had the same complaint. The problem is the meat stays on the rotating oven for way too long, all day, and not enough of it gets shaved down for sandwiches. Fillings are also basic like lettuce and tomato, it's not a quality problem, but more of an imagination problem. A little bit more thought in the food would immediately push this establishment to a five star experience. Things like incorporating yummy white sauce instead of the runny and bland yogurt they have, adding a little tang and spice to the red sauce. Dressing the onions and salad in the sandwich with herbs and olive oil and vinegar, adding a Schmear of sauce inside the pita...Overall just caring more for the food would really add the oomph this place needs. I paid $7 for a chicken kebab sandwich which was filling and did the job no doubt but as a customer I would gladly pay $12 for a higher quality sandwich that is memorable and tantalized my taste buds. I think at the end of the day it does boil down to the business and what type of product they want to put out there. I really think this place is sitting on a lot of untapped potential, in a neighborhood that is rapidly developing, with people moving in who are going to want more and force competition. This is especially true when a lot of other things are not lacking at this place like the seating, the interior, the service, the location, the menu are all very good. I would love to see some of these changes implemented in this staple neighborhood restaurant. As a Pakistani who is a diehard doner kebab, Turkish food fanatic always frantically looking for the next amazing Halal spot, I REALLY want this place to shine!!!

Great service and excellent fresh food. Shared the white bean salad, baba ghanoush, beef manti, and almond pudding. Already looking forward to going back and trying more items!

I got take out from here late at night after my meeting for class. I was really looking forward to getting the lamb shish kebab platter, but they ran out by the time I ordered, so I opted for the lamb sausage instead. Additionally, I got the baba ganoush and meatball platter. The baba ganoush was good; savory and a little sweet as well. It went great with the pita bread and with the meats. Everything that came with the platter was good and the serving size was plenty. I thought the rice was fluffy and the salad was fresh even though it was already 10 at night when I got my order. I would've liked the salad to rice ratio to be more 1:1 instead of more rice than salad. The bread that came with it was good for dipping in the baba ganoush and went well with the meat. The meatballs were juicy, had a nice char on the outside, and were quite flavorful. My only gripe with this meal was the lamb sausage. It tasted a bit too processed and was too salty for my liking. I wasn't aware there was a Turkish spot in Sunset, which is nice to have close by. I will be back to try the other menu items, but the I don't think I will order the lamb sausage again.

This place is great. Home cooked fresh food and great beverages. The service couldn't have been better. Highly recommended!

A little place you wouldn't think much of. But the surprise is in the kitchen. This man is very eficiente and the food which I bought to go, was delicious. The çoban salatasi (shepherd salad) was a little different but very tasty. The red lentil soup was just delicious as well. I'll keep exploring the menu. Thank you

My husband and I were looking for a quick place to eat a light lunch before visiting Brooklyn's historic Green-Wood Cenetery. We really lucked out with Kofte Piyaz! We each ordered a bowl of lentil soup and shared a platter of hummus, white bean salad (substitute for babaganoush), dolma (stuffed grape leaves) and a cucumber/scallion salad. Everything was fresh and delicious and the portions were generous. The Turkish bread was excellent for sopping up all the delicious flavors. We will be back!

I ate there once and had a food poisoning . Food wasn't fresh and has weird smell . I don't know how they got A from the health department but inside the restaurant wasn't clean at all . I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE . service has below 0 .

This restaurant is a gem - quite possibly the best Turkish food in all of Brooklyn. If you like Turkish, Mediterranean or Greek, you will love Kofte Piyaz. The restaurant is small but delivers huge flavors and friendly service. Their kofte (meatballs) are a special treat - I loved their almost spongy texture and the rich taste. Highly recommend pairing that with their fresh bean salad (piyaz). And, of course add some crunchy baklava for dessert and you will be in heaven. The restaurant takes great precautions during COVID to make sure that all customers are safe. To add, their portions are generous with very reasonable pricing. This authentic Turkish restaurant became one of my instant favorites in NYC. I look forward to returning.

I came here to get takeout for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I live in the neighborhood and it was surprising to find a Turkish restaurant in Sunset Park. Usually, the restaurant choices here are Mexican or more Mexican. I ordered two chicken gyros on pitas and an order of fries. It was a good deal to get a gyro pita for only $4.95. The chicken was juicy, seasoned, and charred well. The Turkish bread was charred and delicious. The fries were a bit of a disappointment. It was almost the same price as the gyro and the portion was not as large. Also, the fries were not crispy. The staff was friendly and fast. I would still come back to try their platters. FYI - there's a $10 minimum to use credit card.

We had the warm potato salad, chicken shis, and babaganoush and it was really fresh and delicious. The place is pretty cute and the owner very friendly. We're definitely going back.

Wasn't familiar with this type of burger. They have had it advertised in the window for a while and now a big flag that says burgers. So I googled it to see if it was appealing. Looked great on various sites. A thick, moist-wet, maybe a little greasy burger. Saw the nice hot grill and was looking forward to trying something different. Didn't use the grill. Took these out of the hot dog steamer and onto the bun. This looks like a gas station burger. 2 hockey pucks for 7.00 think I'll look elsewhere in the future.

Owner Murat and his man at the grille hit another home run with our dinner tonight. It is always great. We came inside to order and elected to eat at an outdoor table. There were 3 or 4 orders in the works as customers were waiting to take out or were seated already. From ordering to being served we waited only a quick 15 minutes. Delicious meatballs, green beans, gyro, rice, salad. Two features new to me...an invitation to stroll down the street to purchase an adult beverage to enjoy with dinner (if the selection of alcohol free available was not adequate); plus I witnessed Murat don his helmet, fire up his awesome motorcycle and take off to deliver for a favored customer. To meet this fellow is to love him. Charming, down to earth.

Kofte Piyaz is a gem in this neighborhood. It is a Turkish restaurant, offering the locals a new taste among a sea of Hispanic and Chinese restaurants. I remember coming here in the fall with K. The air was chilly, the owner was very friendly. It was soccer season, and two other couples were earnestly watching the game. The front windows were open to the street. This allowed a cool breeze to float into the restaurant while smells of feta and roasted lamb wafted by our noses. The owner took the time to explain the dishes and ask if he had Turkish food before. We asked for his recommendations and waited in comfy wooden chairs, while he prepared the food. We ordered red lentil soup, lamb sausage, Garden salad, Apple tea (2), and for dessert: almond pudding. My favorites were the smooth, hearty and chilled lentil soup and the almond pudding. It was delicious considering I don't really like lentils. K loved the soup! He watched me take a few bites and asked for the bowl back. The garden salad had a huge block of feta cheese and was so refreshing with crunchy cucumbers and soft sweet tomatoes with a hint of lemon. The lamb sausage was well seasoned and spiced. I loved the warm apple tea- it tasted like a milder apple juice that was warm. I just wish there was more apple tea. And the Almond Pudding was definitely the highlight. It was sweet but not too sweet; it was creamy and thick and so good! The pudding had thin crisp slices of Almond and cinnamon dusting on top. That was the best part of the meal! K saw me devouring the pudding so he had a taste and let me finish the rest. Thank you! It was a great meal!

So glad to have this place in the neighborhood, and very convenient location right on fifth behind the bus stop. The food is very authentic and always so fresh. We have been buying food from them since 2014 at least, even before that iirc, but never had a complaint. The owner is nice too. My favourite is the Baklava, I have never tasted any Baklava as fresh as this.. The only problem is the opening and closing times have been varied all these years.

Wanted to have some Turkish style soup today and it was the nearest place to my work. Tiny place. Great place to have a quick lunch. Really good prices. Positive service. And delicious food. Can't ask for more

Probably the worst food I have had in a while. The food was so bland and the salad was soggy. I even attempted to add some flavor with sriracha sauce which didn't help much. The fries came a mess as well with ketchup spilled all over them as per the picture attached. A waste of $16!

Delightful little restaurant with great portions at a good price. The red lentil soup super flavorful and perfect consistency, the white bean salad was simple and refreshing, chicken gyro had great flavor and a nice char, the kofte platter was great with juicy meatballs and delicious rice and salad. The Turkish coffees were perfectly sweet and came in beautiful metal vessels. The baklava is I think possibly the best I have ever had. To top it all of the owner is generous, charming, and very knowledgeable of Turkish cuisine.

MURAT!!!! I miss this place so much after leaving Sunset years ago. Kofte Piyaz is a labor of love and the owner is the sweetest dude on earth. Nothing like some beautiful lentil soup and a book on a rainy day as the owner sits around watching TV. And the bread it comes with is so light and gorgeous. Potato salad here is to die for. And don't even get me started on the Almond Pudding. So scrumptious and perfectly textured. After all these years I'm so glad to see that Kofte Piyaz is still killing it. A lot of people order takeout from here but don't hesitate to sit inside for a cozy and intimate hang. You really feel like an honored guest here.

The owner is a true boss. Kind, skilled & excited about sharing his food -- eating here is a blessing. I'd recommended any chicken dish, the lentil soup and the baba ganoush for sure!

One night in the mood for some rice and meat I found this place. Its a locally owned restaurant, nothing fancy or big but with tons of flavors. We got 2 lentil soups, a Turkish coban salad, a Mixed platter, grilled lamb kebab, baklava & almond pudding. They have a menu online so it was convenient to order on the way to pick up. The lentil soup was amazing! I wish I wouldve gotten 5 of them, all for me. Tasty with fresh oregano on top oh and the bread that comes with it,mmmmmm! The salad is very good with a kick from the red pepper flakes but the green onions give its a smooth finish. Hubby loved the mixed platter, it's a little bit of everything so you can try all. It comes with rice and salad. My lamb was over done and kinda tough which I was a little over. I was looking forward to this but was kinda let down. The baklava was delicious hubby said. However the best thing to me was the almond pudding! It was soooooo good and again I should've ordered 10 of these. It's the perfect ending to this food, slightly crisp but creamy with cinnamon on top. Omg, I'm in love! Oh and their Turkish tea and coffee is a must! We will definitely be ordering from here again. Give them a try when in the area! And again support your local businesses!

We had an awesome meal this afternoon. Chicken gyro, with the cherry juice. My husband really like the hot sauce. For dessert we had delicious baklava, Turkish coffee, and a Turkish delight. Enjoyed every bite and would highly recommend the restaurant. We so enjoyed learning about Turkey from the owner.

I got the meatball sandwich and shared a plate of babaganoush with 2 other ladies. While the food was decent I was annoyed that they didn't explicitly tell us when we sat down that this is a cash only place. There should be signs all over the place letting people know before they order. Or better yet, dont only take cash. But anyway the meatball sandwich was kind of dry and I had to put the baba ghanoush on the bread to give the sandwhich, which seemed to have melted butter, the missing element. The food came out fast enough and our server was nice - my companions also seemed to enjoy their plates, so can't complain too much.

Great lunch spot for the area when you want something different. The owner is super friendly and accommodating. I've patronized the spot a few times now and the rice is nice and fluffy and the breads/pitas are soft and toasty too. The meats are well seasoned and spiced. The one negative would be their salad is overly salted.

Note to the owner: PLEASE WASH YOUR HANDS AND CHANGE YOUR RUBBER GLOVES. -- this guy was cleaning the kitchen and sweeping, he served my food without changing his cleaning gloves. This was during a very hot day and after skipping my lunch, I just ate it. I was famished. Service was pretty bad, maybe he was tired or in a bad mood. Portion was big, I'll give you that. I won't return though. I luckily didn't get food poisoning from the poor hygiene. Make sure you pay attention to his hands when you eat here.

Absolutely lovely cafe! : Staff: There was one man working when I went; he was very kind and interesting to talk to. He also was attentive, but not overbearing; quick to serve, but let me sit there and enjoy my tea and book. Atmosphere: it is a small space, 4 tables with 4 chairs at each. Everything was very clean. There were small pictures on the walls. Food: Unfortunately I did not try much [yet!]. I had their turkish apple tea, which was delicious, of course, and their cacik. Cacik is a yogurt-type dish that has cucumbers, garlic, and mint in it. I never had it before, but man is it delicious!! So fresh and refreshing! The menu items were fairly priced. Heads up - they have a credit card minimum of $10. Overall, 10/10. Great cafe for an intimate get together, or alone time.

Out of so many Turkish places that I've tried, this one taste like a home cook meal. There are not too many to choose from on the menu but good enough for me. Must try their Turkish coffee, that was my first time so I thought it was very good. The place is not big very small and intimate, they do have 1 big table if you decide to come with friends. I have no complain so far, the guy who works there very nice and friendly. It's CASH ONLY so have your cash ready.

Is it odd to say "I like their homemade lemonade" at a Turkish eatery? I also had chicken gyro served w/ rice and salad ( i substituted it to Turkish salad and only cost $1 more). The portion was big, it can be 2 meals for me. Everything on my plate tasted pretty good, but the rice was a bit greasy. They also have two bottles of sauce on the table (one is the hot sauce, another is some kind of yogurt sauce? I'm not sure, but it's good). I will go back and explore more on the menu!

Small Turkish restaurant located right down the street from Sunset Park. It's small-3 tables and cash only, but so good! The owner himself takes your order and cooks everything fresh. For $14 we got a chicken kabob sandwich and the white bean (vegetarian) sandwich. The Turkish bread was amazing-and freshly toasted on the grill. The white bean sandwich consisted of a bean salad, lettuce, tomatoes and onions-all very fresh, well seasoned and extremely tasty. I couldn't shut up about how much I was enjoying my lunch. We took it to go but we saw a few others eating in-you can also order delivery. Small but targeted menu of fresh Turkish salads and other dishes, affordable and yummy!

Delicious, comforting Turkish food unlike other restaurants I've been to in the area. Usually when I order kofte it's dry, over-cooked, and disappointing. The kofte here is juicy and full of flavor-- with a perfect texture. Seriously have not had kofte this good since I lived in Paris. The bread is amazing, and the other dishes I've tried (chicken sandwich) is delicious. Prompt delivery and good service during COVID-19.

If this were "Kofte Pizazz" then it would have a real flair and uniqueness about it. Whereas if it were "Kofte Piyano" then it would be a badly spelled music store that also did kebabs. And if it were "Kofte P*nis" then it would be your p*nis looking like a Kofte Kebab, which would be... weird. And would probably mean you should see a doctor as soon as possible. What to get: Kofte Kebab What else: Starlight is sitting on my lap, waiting to see the vet Just a short and sweet appraisal of one of my favourite kebabs in NYC. The reason I like it so much is that Steve Gutterberg told me I had to like it. And by Guttenberg I mean Yelp. I was looking for delicious kebabs and Yelp told me to come in and try this Kofte. So I did. The wait time wasn't too long (under 10 mins) and the kebab was juicy as hell and tender as a dream, tasty and spiced and delicious. A real concoction of kebab heaven. It's definitely one of the better Koftes in the region. I haven't always been thrilled by North American kebabs, and compared to the vast majority, this is pure heaven. Compared to what you get over in Europe, it may not be stratospheric but it certainly hits the spot and if you're a fan of kebabs, you should not miss out on giving it a try. They're very friendly people, too. And if it were Kofte Pilau, it'd mainly just sell rice dishes. In fact it's not, and it doesn't, and Starlight's hair is getting all over my keyboard because she's nervous. And that's about all I have to report today.

I ordered from this place on a whim, not knowing much about it. I am blown away! Some of the best meatballs (moist, not dried out) and baba ghanouj (smoky,smooth) that I've ever had. Looking forward to returning. Food was ready on time and pickup was easy.

This was a great surprise! I've seen the big "Brooklyn's best gyro for $4.95 with a drink" sign for a while now but never dared to give it a shot. Well, I've been missing out. My fiancé and I needed a quick (and cheap) food fix so we decided to share a chicken gyro. It was delicious! Grilled chicken seasoned perfectly with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. We were both perfectly satisfied. If you're in the neighborhood and want to try something other than tacos, this is definitely worth the stop!!

My Gyro was rather boring . It did have lettuce , tomato and onions along with the chicken but it still felt rather plain . Other Turkish spots's gyros have had additional ingredients in it . They do itemize additional toppings for it at a dollar a piece ,but at already 7 dollars in this neighborhood is in my opinion a bad business move .

I wanted a gyro and remembered that this place had a huge banner outside which reads "best gyros" - so I made my way here. I was then greeted with "sorry, we are out of gyros." OK, I get that you run out of items but your acclaimed best seller, really? My disappointment aside, I ordered the grilled chicken and sausage over rice with a salad included. Salt, just salt. I couldn't really taste anything else. I'm hoping I just came in on a rough night and will probably give it another try - unless I get told they're out of gyros again. :) On the bright side, service is really friendly and food comes out quickly.

I found Kofte Piyaz on Yelp. Rock-solid lunch option if you're in the area. I had a chicken gyro, I believe. Everything was fresh and delicious. The owner was friendly and talkative. My lunch special came with some kind of fresh, tart, cherry drink. I think it might be some kind of traditional beverage. I will absolutely return when I'm visiting friends in the area. I will admit that I have no idea how they are for delivery. However, if you're in the area for lunch, give them a shot.

Had a strange dining experience here. Was greeted by the owner when I walked in, he was already cracking jokes as I entered. It was supposed to make the atmosphere fun and lively but it just felt weird. Ordered the Chicken Rice gyro platter as that was the only meat available on the pit. Chicken was already down to the bare end (hope its still fresh). Since its a small place the kitchen area is open to customers. Watched him prepared the whole dish in front of us. Platter comes out with side of garden salad, salad itself tasted good. The Chicken gyro platter was drenched in oil, even the rice on the bottom of the plate was soaked in oil. C'mon, I came to try the famous gyro not their oily goo. Also had the baklava (tasted exactly the same as Antepli). The only item i enjoyed was the Almond Pudding, that was really good. Had to endure some corny jokes to finally eat that almond pudding dessert.

I don't even know how to rate this. I am really disappointed. I feel bad about writing this because the owner is wonderful but the food left me puzzled and upset. Now I'm strictly writing about the non meat items that I got so perhaps meats are great there but judging from what I had I wouldn't aim high. The lamb sausage that another visitor raved about was on my list to try next time. But now I am pretty certain I would not bother coming back period. I got mixed platter, which was unusually small. Whenever I get mixed platter from ANY other Turkish place it has much more variety and much bigger portion and astronomically tastier! And considering the portion here was unbelievably small I decided to double it up since it would be me and my husband eating. So literally Im paying double whereas regular mixed platter would more than suffice and still I'd have left over. What the hell happened here? Plus I got extra breads, the cacik, and the rice to make sure we had enough. All this came out to 40 dollars rounded up. And believe me it is so not worth it!! Let's just say that the only good things were the breads and the rice. But you don't eat Turkish just for bread and rice. I mean this is ridiculous on all fronts. The portions, the steep pricing for what it is, and the tastelessness of it all. Shame.

Absolutely love this place. My new go to place for chicken gyro. It's $4.95 for a gyro + free drink of your choice, which I usually get sour cherry. Who doesnt like free drinks? Their chicken gyros sell out quick so you should probably order it before 4pm to be safe. The owner (also the chef) is super friendly!

Small, unassiming gem of a place with a peach of an owner who obviously takes pride in his cooking and rightfully so. I had its namesake meatball with cheese. Nothing like American meatballs--smaller, lighter, grilled, and perfect for hot summer days. Also had the Turkish coban salad, which was ok. Next time, I will try the white beans salad instead. The owner gave each of us a free piece of chicken shish kebab, "to get a taste." I now know what I'll definitely be getting the next time, as well as its famous lentil soup. And if you do not get the almond pudding for dessert, well, no one can help you. Even my bf, who's allergic to dairy AND nuts, couldn't resist and scarfed it down. To paraphrase Woody Allen, the stomach wants what the stomach wants.

I ordered delivery at 12:30pm and I'm still waiting for the delivery. Now, it's 2:30pm. I called at 2pm to ask what happened and was told that the delivery guy came but nobody answered phone call. It's lying. We have receptionist always at the front desk and I didn't leave my desk since I called for delivery. Called at 2:40pm and they told me they can't deliver to me because their guy delivered twice but nobody answered phone call. They are big LIAR! Our receptionist never got delivery or phone call for delivery today! They are FUCKING ridiculous! Lie and find excuse! If you don't want to deliver, just decline my order two hours ago! But they let me wait two hours with stomach ache and never deliver to me!

We stumbled across this gem when looking for a place to eat near the Escher Exhibit in the Industry City complex in Brooklyn. I can't remember when we had such an amazingly good meal. Fresh and tasty Turkish food. The best we have had outside of Istanbul. Murat, the owner and chef was very welcoming. WE WILL BE BACK!
